1101  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: backdoor-merged-mining with cheating miners on: October 10, 2011, 07:39:42 PM
Doesn't anyone think that slushs "testing" implementation is also cheating?

lol, why do you think I'm "cheating"?

Quote
Even if thier miner get payed afterwards, nobody will notice if a fraction of the nmc not get payed out, and most importantly he is stealing from the official merged mining pools by increasing the overall hashrate.

Well, my pool is also "official merged mining pool", I just didn't finished GUI&other stuff. Don't forget that I have already big load on pool, so releasing such bleeding edge software is much harder than for 20GHash pools...

Quote
So the way I put it: Slush gtfo of our merge  Angry

Of course I can cheat! Any pool operator can cheat. I can not publish some merged mined blocks for namecoin and nobody will notice, as any other merged mining pool can do. So why do you have problem with me? I think that I already prove that I'm not a scammer, by running pool for longer time ever.

Yeah, The same could be said for normal BTC mining, pool operators could keep every 10th block found for themselves and no one would ever know.  It all comes down to being able to trust the operator.

Perhaps I misunderstand the merged mining concept..

If we begin participating in a merged system, does it take away from the bitcoin mining efficiency? Or is it the same hashing function, results which could be applied to either network?

IE - if we find a result which meets the bitcoin network difficulty, would that result also apply to the namecoin network? block created on both networks from the same hash?

It doesnt take anything away from the bitcoin efficiency.  the answer your miner submits to the BTC network is also submitted to the NMC network to see if it works there. a 2 for 1 deal.

How is merged mining coming along?
1104  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Merged mining now live on: October 10, 2011, 04:38:19 PM
All merged mining has done so far for me is create a sense of distrust towards any pool operator that isn't running merged mining pool.

The pool operators have a direct incentive to not implement merged mining openly which makes this a terrible situation for maintaining trust between miners and operators.

I wish the pool operators actually participated more actively in the merger and voted before allowing it to go live.
But then I suppose that would also ruin the same opportunity to steal... for the bad ones.

Why do you care if the pool operator is making more money if your payout is not being affected negatively?

Because if a pool operator is using your hashing power, that you are paying the electricity for, to mine NMC and not give you your cut...That is theft.

BAM, And thats why i dont want to see Merged Mining on DeepBit
Im not going to Merge Mine someother "coin", Screw that, I want bitcoins.
I dont want to be in a 4.5th/sec pool thats seceretly using 2th/sec to mine Namecoins or someother Shit that i Do Not Want, But that im now mining for

If you "Do Not Want" them exchange them for BTC, there are people that do want them...

Yes, thanks for the quick fixes.  "Current NMC Round Shares" is still wrong by the way.

Thanks for the fix.

Current BTC Round Shares   32,088,941

Current NMC Round Shares   30,881,260

This can't be good...

yeah just noticed that after seeing i had such low estimates of payout and looking for a reason.

1108  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Merged mining now live on: October 09, 2011, 05:06:13 AM
Why would deepbit risk the mass exodus if found out? They are already making a fortune with high fees.

Since they would be getting additional revenue from Namecoin they could lower their fee and then miners wouldn't care if they found out.

more than 28 blocks would have been found with 4000+ mhs

The first pool with a substantial amount of of hashing power will power through some NMC blocks and make a lot of nmc quickly before the difficulty lvls out to around the same as btc.

but a few pool operators are complaining its to complicated to configure, nevermind the fact there has been 2-3 months to ask questions and try and get ready for it.

When are we starting merged mining?
Moved over to another pool (with merged mining) until the big moment...

+1
1110  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: which pools are offering merged mining? on: October 07, 2011, 03:36:55 AM
15 more blocks until merged mining goes live. only 1-2 days left.  Smiley
1111  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: which pools are offering merged mining? on: October 05, 2011, 06:05:57 AM
i believe nmcbit.com will be doing merged mining. (but don't hold me to that, i just mine there a little, don't run the pool or anything)
1112  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Solo mining pool with stats / graphs / reliability on: October 03, 2011, 01:03:11 PM
Doesn't something similiar exist at triplemining?
1113  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Dynamic ip addresses on server farm - how do you manage changing ip's? on: September 29, 2011, 03:01:38 PM
Use reservations in the router so that the same MAC's get the same IP's every time. Easier to do that then assign statics to each machine. Basically the same thing but easier to implement.
1114  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: .000062 BTC/share Starting Sept 24 - 00:00 UTC for 24hrs on: September 23, 2011, 01:31:24 PM
On Sept 24 at 00:00 (midnight) for 24 hrs everyone will receive 0.000062 BTC or renamed to 6200 nano bitcoins (NBTC) per share.

For each miner click PPS and after each NMC block is found your miner shares will reset to zero and you will be paid those shares (transaction info unavailable at the moment)

If you are already mining at NMCBIT you will have the advantage as the system will pay out after a NMC block is found and I will change the PPS value in the middle of a block thus giving those already mining before midnight Sept 24th a bit extra.  Also I will end the promotion after the next NMC block is found after the 24 hours is up.

Please inform as many people as you can I will be able to add nodes even if we get to 100 GH.

Thanks

Davinci

Looking forward to this stress test!
1115  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1800 GH/sec] BTC Guild - 0% Fees, LP, SSL, API, 8 Decimal Payouts and more! on: September 20, 2011, 12:01:02 PM
Geez!

You might wish to remember who the moderator is for this part of the forum.
I hope when I hit Report to Moderator it went to the other mod for this subsection and also an Admin per the SMF documentation.

theymos has zero problems with how I moderate this board. If you have a problem with me having a problem with the pool I use having a problem with their security in the face of recent security problems then bring the problem up with theymos, and he will probably have a problem with you. Problem?

Just wondering, who has had their password hash's stolen? BTCguild or bitcointalk? Tongue
1116  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: NameCoin Mining pool Open for the Brave [20+ GHs] .00003BTC/share on: September 18, 2011, 03:06:23 PM
Those name coins are mine

Just wanted to hear that. You are greedy like hell  Grin

Do you even know what your talking about?

From the start of the threat DavinciJ15 stated he would PPS (IN BTC) at around 18-20% more than Deepbit's PPS payouy, EVEN ON INVALID blocks!

533,484 invalids from wrong block chain X .00003=16 BTC Paid out

283.65974466 X 0.0287 (Current market price of NMC to BTC) = 8.14 BTC

so as you can see the NMC does not need to be sent to any of his miners because for one, he was paying for the Invalids all along, and his why it was called "reimbursement" and 2 its not even a full reimbursement but what looked like a reasonable amount, you are the one who offered...

Unless there are posts in other threads i'm not aware of your the one coming off as a pompous asshole nodemaster.

And having dealt with DavinciJ15 since he opened this pool he is anything but "Greedy like Hell" he has given a lot of extra NMC/BTC to help him develop this pool and try and keep the NMC network from dying.
1117  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: NameCoin Mining pool Open for the Brave [20+ GHs] .00003BTC/share on: September 16, 2011, 12:03:50 PM
the luck of this pool is pretty good, considering the difficulty is 94k we have had a lot of blocks solved with a lot less shares.  There have also been some long blocks though lol.

and i apparently jinxed us lol

NMC Current round duration:   18 hours
Valid shares for current round:   433,201

I don't think my balance is right. I've mined at 13 Ghash/s for 8 hours, and only get 1.3235831 BTC on the balance. And I saw I have 80000+ shares at some point earlier.

I have been mining with this pool through 3+ blocks now and my BTC balance is still at 0BTC despite having submitted 100's or 1000's of shares in each of these 3+ rounds.

Is this just slow database?

Andy

We are 3 block behind

nope, I don't know of anyone else running on amazon, I believe BTCguild has a similiar setup but with real servers, maybe eleuthria may have some ideas?
