Did anybody else scream safety, as I did, when the Ravens took final possession, considering the time remaining and SF only had a single TO left? I'm sure tens of thousand, worldwide, with 4/1 in a pool did likewise. And John answered in kind. Toward the end, it really looked like SF was going to convert, but no joy.

I'd love to do it, but limited on time. Please PM if this takes traction and the event nears, and I'll see then if I could squeeze it in. Fair warning, I'm ranked A2 on Sharks, with a positive ROI (real money, not play).

1 India, since gold is already widely distributed amongst the population.
Also interesting are these plans from the RBI (India's central bank): It wants banks to encourage products linked to accepting physical gold as deposits and investing public money in gold related products, and extend loans against gold as collateral.
Indians own about 20,000 tonnes of gold, or three times the holdings of the U.S. Federal Reserve, in jewellery, bars and coins.
- http://in.reuters.com/article/2013/02/01/gold-india-idINDEE91009U20130201That equates to roughly $66,800,000,000. Divide that by 1B people and they'll have $66 each, and that's only if all the women in India surrender their gold jewelry. Highly unlikely one would, let alone half a billion plus of them. I don't know how much the average woman in India has in gold, but my ex-wife owned about three pounds of the stuff in only the form of jewelry, and she was barely middle class. Here's an interesting read: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:FDcG1zORUdAJ:www.abwic.org/Proceedings/2007/ABW07-203.doc+&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESjW4Wy8_96ct4frbuduvpcjHP7x8mGvchZxXu5DZRJ11ZxpTWxFxHFqopjodUea0G_OVQAZgx4wURNTRPYe78rn5JnVKqUYdXtKlZ6CQCNpZfTDLAxxgSFcvZ13A5M3F7Ev_sEq&sig=AHIEtbTH-KMv76FzqsZZ-eA20_c7x9BqjQBTW, I'm talking about my real ex-wife, and not Maria. Which reminds me. Where is my sweetheart?

... Basically, I'm seeking abstract suggestions.
abstract? ... thought of apart from concrete realities, specific objects, or actual instances. Can Bitcoins beam me into the future, yet? I would like to visit some of the places seen in various Star Trek shows. Perhaps atypical would have been a better word choice. Regardless, here's a list of things I'm planning on offering via Bitcoin within a year (inspired by some suggestions), along with overseeing Bitcoin 100: - Property
- Furniture
- Automobiles (along with most other motor vehicles)
- Planes
- Boxcars & Cabooses (not sure about the engines, definitely not the track, but a RR truss bridge, sans the track, is not out of the question)
- Airline Tickets
- Cruises
- A once in a lifetime trip around the world.
- Concert Tickets
- Dinner with a politician or some other notable.
- Fine Dinning
- Vacations at a high-end resort.
- Hotel Stays
- Indie Art
- Insurance (health/
death life) - Cemetery Plots
- Antiquities/Antiques
- One-of-a-kind items.
- Hardware/Software
- Animals
- Entire Estates (due to somebody passing)
- Date with a legal prostitute.
Amazing list Phinnaeus It just got more amazing! No one said sex. You know, real sex.
Doable! Now on the list.

So, only 2 Avalons. That's it. No-one else has shipped any and we don't know for sure the 2 Avalons are even real?
2 Avalons have been RECEIVED and proven to be real. Aside from those 2, we only have figures about how many have been shipped. The two that have already been received were treated differently in order to get them into the hands of major figures in the community as soon as possible, at extremely high shipping costs. True, in regard to the high shipping cost. Jeff's was a special expedient case, whereas TBF's unit was hand-delivered via commercial jet(s) from China to New York. Apologies for harping on this truism, for it is the third(+) time I've mentioned it, and don't want to come across as a Bryan. ~Bruno K~

I've already emailed the legitimate Can Electric. All of Ari's FB posts since late 2011 have been made from Iraq. If I don't get an email response within a couple of days I'll message him on the number listed on the real Can Electric site (which is one number different than the one on the bASIC site) and/or on FB. Odd! One number off. Either an easily made error, or...

The updates to the site would imply that he intends to make good on the promise of delivering 45nm FPGA's.
I'm not sure if this is accurate, but I read that HardCopy is trademarked by Altera and that they use TSMC for fabrication - and that TSMC doesn't even do 45nm. Interesting. I know very little about Altera, the Xilinx version is called easypath. Don't BFL use stratix? (altera 45nm)... so could a single do 2+gh/s? Altera likely uses different fabs for different products. It looks like Ari Asmar has been back living in Iraq since 2011, based on his FB page. http://canadianimmigrant.ca/canadas-top-25-immigrants-old/canada-has-spoken-top-25-immigrants-of-2011This year’s awards program received more than 500 nominations over a two-month period, from which 75 finalists were shortlisted by a panel of Canadian Immigrant magazine judges. The awards program was also supported by the Toronto Star, Metro and Sing Tao. Ari Asmar (Edmonton, Alberta/Iraq) is a master electrician. Although he’s been in Canada less than 10 years, he devotes lots of time to volunteering in his community, such as with a YMCA newcomers program. http://www.thestar.com/sponsored_sections/2011/06/30/these_15_other_winners_are_making_their_mark_from_coast_to_coast.htmlAs a member of a large family of Kurdish refugees — six siblings and his parents — Ari Asmar knows a bit about pitching in, sharing and working hard.
The master electrician has been in Canada eight years and is proud of the company he started from scratch: Can Electric Ltd.
He’s even prouder of the countless hours he’s dedicated as a volunteer in his new country: helping with the YMCA’s newcomers program, mentoring young tradespeople and working with Amnesty International and the Abbotsfield Youth Project, which helps children of parents with drug issues.
Asmar is also involved in green technologies — participating in solar and wind energy seminars and promoting green energy through his work as an electrical contractor.
He says his best advice for immigrants is to work hard and don’t stop giving. “This is a great country and there’s lots of opportunities for everyone,” he says. “I know this … my entire family is so happy to be here.”
He came to Canada, got settled, and then sponsored his parents, brothers and sisters. “My first night here, I didn’t have any money, I didn’t know anybody and I stayed in a shelter,” he says. “But that didn’t matter. I was just excited to be in Canada and I was starting something new.” http://www.canelectric.ca/Domain name: canelectric.ca Domain status: registered Creation date: 2009/02/28 Expiry date: 2014/02/28 Updated date: 2013/01/18 Registrar: Name: Go Daddy Domains Canada, Inc Number: 2316042 Name servers: dns1.irangiga.com dns2.irangiga.com ns1-maverick.nswebhost.com ns2-maverick.nswebhost.com % WHOIS look-up made at 2013-02-03 17:59:27 (GMT) % % Use of CIRA's WHOIS service is governed by the Terms of Use in its Legal % Notice, available at http://www.cira.ca/legal-notice/?lang=en % % (c) 2013 Canadian Internet Registration Authority, ( http://www.cira.ca/)

i think it'd be wise to start smaller - a lower priced physical item, that is. i mean that car is what, 50k usd or something? why not an item for a few hundred first, or a couple grand? maybe a big tv?
Exactly what I had in mind--smaller ticket items of value. The only way a bigger ticket item would work is if it was being unloaded at a cost below 50% its value. Upon writing that last sentence, I now need to clarify. I'm not advocating fencing hot items, though it would work. Seriously, I want part of this action, with all profits going to administering the new Bitcoin 100. i think it'd be wise to start smaller - a lower priced physical item, that is. i mean that car is what, 50k usd or something? why not an item for a few hundred first, or a couple grand? maybe a big tv?
Who's going to offer the prize? Not me And it has to be quite big, at least $3,000 (155 BTC). I have both aspects covered, and it's prize s (plural). I'm leaning toward ~$100 minimum prizes, but a little lower would work just a well. And yes, offering a house is not outside the realm of possibility, but a new car would be more challenging to procure, though a quality used car, or a classic, is not out of the question. If I can't partner up with maxmint on this, then I would most definitely seek out edd, or go it alone, but prefer a partner to split the tasks, couple with having more cred for the project. The name of the enterprise will exclude the word Bitcoin, but Bitcoin, of course, is the only payment option available that'll allows the endeavor to function. All other payment options on the planet fall short for a myriad of reasons. ~Bruno K~ Bruno, I would be honored to help out with this project if maxmint isn't interested. I'll be PMing you shortly after penning this reply. As John pointed out, I think tiered prizes are the way to go. Start with something relatively inexpensive, like a t-shirt. Once the price exceeds a certain level, the prize would change accordingly. Personally, I'd love to see this car eventually awarded to some lucky player! In addition, I don't believe it's necessary to guarantee the last player receives a prize equal to or greater than the investment. If the game should end while between tiers (e.g., before the second tier prize might be awarded but after the investment exceeds the value of a t-shirt), the final player would still receive the less valuable prize, have their website of choice permanently advertised/linked to on the site, and have the knowledge that their bitcoins are going to a good cause - Bitcoin100. As Bitcoinduit, bitciongem.com, SatoshiDoshi, and other ponzi based games have demonstrated, bitcoiners are more than willing to play even knowing there might not be any payoff whatsoever. Awaiting your PM, albeit my reply may be of a disappointment to you. The key element I'm hoping to introduce is that the last person doesn't feel victimized. They may not feel bad if paying BTC1 for a BTC0.5 tee shirt, but doling out BTC10 for a BTC5 chainsaw would bother most. Granted, with the current model offered up by maxmint, the last guy gets nothing, whereas all those that came before him reaped, including the house. With the model I'm proposing, all concerns receive value. A randomized stop-point will be coded in so not to supercede between 10%-20% (inclusive) of any one item's value. Add an NPO to the mix, and you'll have a winner.

It's been close to two weeks and they've been able to build / ship two unit [sic]... One shipped, one hand-delivered. I thought I read both were sent via carriers (paraphrased). https://bitcoinfoundation.org/blog/Yifu arrived in New York City last night, after more than two months in China finishing his masterwork. With him, Avalon’s first ASIC V1. Not a diss, just stating facts. Correct me if I'm in error. I do find it odd that at least a dozen were shipped the day following Jeff's shipment, and not one reached a client on Friday or Saturday, Jeff getting his on Thursday. We'll see what next week brings. ~Bruno K~
