11041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: cash remains the only option if there's an emergency on: October 18, 2015, 12:03:41 PM

Fiber optics are buried deep beneath the ground, so there is a chance that internet connection is available for those people who availed fiber connections. As for physical bitcoins, I don't think it would be that viable since you need to print or create something like fiat, plus transactions won't be recorded on the blockchain too.

I do believe that physical bitcoins will be available in the near future so that more people start making use of this currency as not everyone owns an internet connection and those who own might not be able to access their wallet in an emergency (network failure or pc crash). However, it would be like black money as the transactions wouldn't be recorded and people will keep buying it to avoid paying taxes.

11043  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your opinion of gun control? on: October 17, 2015, 08:14:14 PM
In India, all girls need to get a license to own guns to protect themselves. Men here are getting cruel day by day.  Lips sealed

Is it difficult to get a gun license in India?  Any different for man or woman?

Is a license for one particular gun, or any that you want?

No. But you need to have a valid reason to get a gun while some get it without any reason by just paying a bribe. Here in India, it's so unsafe for women that they need to get the license easily but they won't get one unless they pay a bribe or they are rich.
11044  Other / Meta / Re: Trust farming on: October 17, 2015, 08:09:57 PM
Not going to point at anyone specific here, but I see there are a lot of trust feedbacks been given based on paypal deals.
So what happends is:
A member in DefaultTrust, lets call him Bob for simplicity, is selling his paypal for btc, so anyone, for example Alice, who sells bitcoin to him is the one at risk not Bob. So after a successful transaction, it should be Alice who leaves a trust rating on Bob as she is running a risk as Bob(trusted paypal sellers always urge the untrusted one to go first) only goes after Alice sends first, not the other way around as Bob is not running any risk which would make him to leave a trust rating on Alice. Anyway continuing, now what Alice(and most trust farmers) can do is use virwox and incur a loss of max 10% of the amount he/she traded. Say she traded 0.1 btc(which is pretty much the average amount trust farmers use) with Bob, so now converting it back to bitcoin would take some hassle + a bit of loss max 0.01.
So has this forum's trust degraded so much that one trust feedback from a trusted member costs only 0.01 for a trust farmer?

There are many ratings given for paying back loans as well. Not a big deal. Even members have given me ratings for just a single trade which I haven't asked for but I haven't given anyone any rating inspire of being asked for it as if the person goes about scamming another member, I'll be indirectly responsible for it and I don't guarantee that any member whom I trust is actually trustworthy.

In your example, Bob being a DT members dint do wrong by leaving a positive rating but the only reason why he shouldn't have left a rating is because he is on the DT list. This makes this forum look bad because it has a list which makes DT members responsible of their ratings but when we actually try to make them justify those ratings, they don't want to argue. I've seen many newbies having ratings for just one trade with a DT member and that gives them a license to scam anyone with a higher amount as they have a green trust rating unlike others who trade with other members.
11045  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is Becoming a Global Currency on: October 17, 2015, 08:02:52 PM
For the first time, when I look at the offers on LocalBitcoins.com, there are a half-dozen currencies ahead of the US dollar, offering a higher price for Bitcoin than US dollar users.

Euros, South African Rands, New Zealand Dollars, Hong Kong Dollars, Polish Zloty, Malaysian Ringgits.

It is no longer just the US, EU or even China driving adoption.  There is a market for Bitcoins in major countries all over the world.
What I find somewhat funny is nothing's changed since that opening post was written. Bitcoin is not really known better, or regarded.
We have maybe 1 or 2 new exchanges but is that fact changed anything really? Not much. Bitcoin is not even slightly closer to even niche adoption.

It's taking time to be accepted by people but the situation compared to the previous year is much better. There are few reputed companies who are accepting bitcoin payments.

Check this: http://insidebitcoins.com/news/vodanet-adds-bitcoin-buy-a-vacation-with-bitcoin/35334 (A quote: Our decision to accept Bitcoin payment option was taken because we realized that it will allow customers and partners to interact with us easily. This will ensure that partners will not need to worry about crossing borders, rescheduling for bank holidays or any other limitation anymore. Bitcoin integrated into the payment options for customers at check-out will allow them to purchase vacation packages and even send and get money anywhere in the world at any given time.")

The others are: http://www.bitcoinvalues.net/who-accepts-bitcoins-payment-companies-stores-take-bitcoins.html

With regards to countries, there are many countries who have made bitcoins legal while some countries have declared it as illegal eg: Russia being one of them. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_Bitcoin_by_country)

11047  Other / New forum software / Re: Private Feedback? on: October 17, 2015, 07:37:55 PM
It being private means that it's only visible to admins or Mods as well could see the note including the user himself or nobody else except the user can see it?

I see the reasoning behind this suggestion; I would support this as well. Perhaps I had the impression that someone was farming trust, but had no real basis for the suspicion. Then I could simply write a note (visible only to me) on his profile for future reference. Same goes for if I thought someone was trustworthy, but I didn't want to put a positive trust rating because it was only a personal opinion and I didn't have any direct dealings with the person. It could even go to other small notes that I would want to write down for future reference, but wouldn't want other people to see/affect the person's trust rating.

This reason sounds good but for users who have left a lot of ratings, they would find it tough to scroll through those ratings to find this private rating. It would need users to have another tab of Private ratings as well.

He did reply today and since I've received my payment, the others who are owed by him can expect their payment soon and hope he does pay you all. He can be contacted here: http://forum.top10songs.net/member.php?action=profile&uid=1

I would advise you to wait for 24 hours and then take action against him.

What the fuck are you on about buddy?? I contacted OP numerous times, begged, pleaded. He has not replied to me and a couple others on the thread. Great you got paid, so what? Was that not to lure the rest of us into posting on his website? I Should wait 24 hours¿ I guess the previous 1 week that Ive waited with no response or explanation whatsover does not count?

I'm talking to you in a polite manner and you want to start abusing me because you dint get paid from another member? When you need to get paid from someone, abusing the person doesn't help. He came online today and hence I advised you to wait for 24 hours without knowing you have been waiting for a week. I guess he doesn't want to pay now and hence he locked he thread without promising the payment.

Igot isn't a scam website but too slow in clearing their withdrawal requests and they barely reply to the support tickets. There are people who have received their money after a month or two which is so unprofessional. Not worth to use this website.  Lips sealed
11053  Other / Meta / Re: Fake Quotes on: October 17, 2015, 06:41:07 PM
Her everything is allowed but if someone does that, it would make the person look untrustworthy.

why not? they can always click the link on the quote to find the real quoted post.

It's not the case of posts only but people do fake personal messages and chat messages as well. Hard to find the real message.
11054  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: You can now fund your paypal account with bitcoins on: October 17, 2015, 06:39:01 PM
I thought PayPal started its own exchange service wherein it accepts bitcoins like Payza and PM have. I've never even heard of coinminimal as the site looks dull and untrustworthy. More fear of chargebacks with this website.

Thank you for your feedback Wink I am the CEO of the website. Maybe I can help you trusting my company.

Oh, good to see you here. The fact the website looks dull and untrustworthy is that it has only 3 payment processors Sepa, PayPal and BTC. It would be better to introduce processors like PM and OKPay which are non reversible methods. PayPal always has the chargeback issue because of which many exchange websites aren't trusted.
11055  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: cash remains the only option if there's an emergency on: October 17, 2015, 06:32:43 PM
If one doesn't have access to the internet, bitcoins are absolutely useless to them and only cash comes handy. Except few online shopping portals and exchange websites, it's quite tough to make use of bitcoins unlike other currencies and hence Cash is always preferred.

11057  Other / Meta / Re: Why bitcointalk.org Looks so Bad on: October 17, 2015, 06:18:23 PM
It does look dull at times and takes time to load. SMF also has limitations like threads "cannot be merged" and "the inability to turn of notifications to threads we have replied", the new forum is being awaited by me. There is no option like Quick Reply as well and I've suggested many additions for the new forum. Hope that they are considered.
