11101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anti-Bitcoin Socialist Propaganda in New Zealand on: May 07, 2013, 05:23:34 PM
Yeah, the left doesn't like bitcoin as a currency.

They like it as a store of value though, but the currency part overwhelms them so they bash bitcoin.

You're mistaken.  And that kind of knee-jerk snap judgment hurts us all.

Authoritarians don't like bitcoin.  Of the right or of the left.  Liberals/progressives - and those of every other political stripe who dislike what our political and financial systems have done to us - are natural bitcoin boosters.  As currency or store of value, either one.

Otherwise, all I could think of when watching that video was the line from the movie:  "I see dead people..."  And they don't even know they're dead.

I am a conservative/libertarian, or at least I believe I am. If I take the time to write down all the decisions and reactions in one day of my life and put a political label on each of them, I would most likely realized I moved from very liberals to very conservatives thoughts all the time. This is Nature and how we can survive and adapt.
Only professional career politicians tell you to never be free from reelecting them forever.

If you don't doubt you political party long time vision after fully understanding what bitcoin represents, no matter your political color, then you don't "get bitcoin"...
11102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anti-Bitcoin Socialist Propaganda in New Zealand on: May 07, 2013, 05:10:41 PM
Just a small sample of life in NZ and Australia. It gets a lot worse than this believe me.

NZ & Australia: Beautiful lands. Too bad about their political visions regarding banks and their centralized vision of society.
As soon as they quoted "anti social network" I knew who their God were.
11103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitTorrent Sync - An inspiration for the blockchain? on: May 07, 2013, 04:48:10 PM
My impression was that it's closed source and they don't document the protocol, so I lost my interest.

Yes it is. I was not promoting the company and the code but more like a way to define the problems ahead with technical ideas around us now.
11104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / BitTorrent Sync - An inspiration for the blockchain? on: May 07, 2013, 03:52:14 AM
I did not say "a solution" but an inspiration for the blockchain distribution speed?

Those with the technical know-how could maybe check this out. Or maybe it is nothing.
11105  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Island/City and More - http://www.waterstudio.nl/ on: May 05, 2013, 03:19:10 AM
Just randomly I happen to learn about this site. It may not have anything to do with buying an island, but I thought this could contribute to the project somehow. This is a company who could help in the logistical studies of development, cost estimation and other architectural problems. Not only that, his company accepts bitcoin.

http://www.waterstudio.nl/

Those of you invested in the project should give the guy a call. He was describing a concept of floating modules up to the size of a small island. Maybe an hybrid between a floating city anchored to an atoll could be a cost effective solution?

Sorry if this was already posted as I did not read every reply.
11106  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Donate Bitcoin to help colonize space on: May 03, 2013, 09:38:19 PM
I still could not find the donation link for helping to colonize space. Could you provide a link?

Your other link is just to some Alex Jones conspiracy theorist type.

Maybe the OP was hoping for a space rocket sending million of sperm and egg packages into space and see what would happen in the void? he did no say "colonize a planet" or a moon, but space itself.
11107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WTF - Kiddy Porn in the Blockchain for life? on: May 03, 2013, 09:32:50 PM
Ask any average person to extract the links from the blockchain.

Answer.  They can't.

Couldn't then mean there could be a strong (not proof) suspicions both the twtrt link and the source of CP be from the same person?

I am not trying to play fake boston detective on reddit but the light should focus back on that twtr dude and less on bitcoin, that is if this community is immune from social group manipulation.

I believe it is to a way to destroy bitcoin. The challenge is huge people. Don't forget the target date: 2140.
11108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WTF - Kiddy Porn in the Blockchain for life? on: May 03, 2013, 09:20:30 PM
How did the dude posting the info on twtr knew what and where to look at if it was not easy to stumble upon it?
11109  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Donate Bitcoin to help colonize space on: May 03, 2013, 07:46:00 PM
I just realized the right of free speech does protect me from being a simpleton. Good luck with this thread.

Joking. Breath.

One of the press contacts at Bitcoin.org, Trace Mayer, chosen as part of a list of moderate contacts to discuss Bitcoin is also an Economics Board member of the Lifeboat Foundation.  They want to protect the world from catastrophes.  If that does not work, colonize space.

Here is more about their meetings and articles  including the Hitler quote and the discussion about the "lifeboat problem" which is actually the issue of whether it is ethical to eat the other person if you are stuck in a lifeboat with them.

http://ieet.org/index.php/IEET/more/4610

I am glad some moderation has been brought to Bitcoin by changing the press contacts list.

So i read your link from 2011 and now I need to know: Who am I supposed to hate now? Klein? Mayer? I see a pattern in those names. Is this what was implied? Can you guide me?

what was the point of that thread?

Would be pretty cool to declare a bitcoin country on that island. Anyone got any ideas for a flag/name?  Grin

Grizzly Island?
Do bears swim?

If the market goes upstream then yes they do...

Ripple is more in sync as being "centralized" to become MOTB. But most likely MOTB will be a crypto currency and I have my suspicion it will come from the UN or a "respected" organization like that. If it comes from the US suspicion will arise and some countries would refuse to use it. But the lies from the UN makes it the perfect MOM for MOTB.

Do not forget, the UN asked to have their own drones, for peace of course! http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/un-seeks-drones-for-peacekeeping-missions/2013/01/08/39575660-599e-11e2-88d0-c4cf65c3ad15_story.html
11115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The path to one world currency on: May 02, 2013, 04:08:00 AM
Is bitcoin the best tool for a one world order control? It does have the profile for that infamous upcoming end of the world sign, but as long as it cannot be controlled by a centralized organization we should not be worried...

Ripples on the other end... Hmm... :-). Perfect currency for Satan! :-)
11116  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Island/City and More on: April 30, 2013, 11:45:03 PM
I love the idea. but if you are targeting the Caribbeans as a location, make sure you are not withing the traditional path of any hurricanes. Zoom in on google map around places like Barbados or even further down like Grenada. this is where it should be.
The other major problem is security. Pirates of the Caribbeans is not a movie. Then beside the pirates you have the narco traffickers from South America targeting Europe via the Caribbeans too. For this bubble to be realistic it would need a very strong shell.
11117  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A bitcoin user group that is open and expresses the will of the community on: April 30, 2013, 06:44:32 AM

Instead of putting $1000 in your 501, why not start a youtube channel and push your talent so the world can see. Promote bitcoin the way you see fit and have a clear vision of what you want. Sure crowdsourcing for idea and membership on a thread or on reddit is fun, but without the professional tools and $$ it it will be painfully slow. So why not have much more visibility? get a little cam or your iphone, a microphone and just hit the streets and ask people stuff.. Then you talk about bitcoin. You should watch some Tv evangelist shows. You don't have to believe but the tools of communication are the same if you want to be a bitcoin evangelist. As soon as you do this you create a brand and the "laws of attraction" will start kick in.

The concept of bitcoin is so big it is hard for all of us to let go the old paradigm. In the end bitcoin will define itself as it is math, without the need for PR. I understand we are not there yet.

One effort does not contradict the others. I am not interested in just being a "face" for bitcoin and I am capable of more than one thing at a time.

Here are the projects I'm currently working on:

- Open Paper Wallet - massively successful, created more than 20 creative commons licensed designs for the whole community - going into production - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=155847.0;all

- SafePaperWallet.com - opening in a couple of weeks to sell retail paper wallet kits

- Open Bitcoin Store - helped 60 new stores launch in the first week - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=161264.0;all

- btcprice.info - serving thousands of SMS alerts on bitcoin price changes for free

- Let's Talk Bitcoin - I am a host and contributor, bi-weekly shows

- bitcoin 2013 conference - speaking about bitcoin neutrality and interviewing people. Also giving 4 interviews to the press (booked so far)

- Open Bitcoin User Group - this project

- Bitcoin book - proposals are out to publishers this week.

As you can see, I can keep up with multiple projects, lead them and make them successful.

Give me solutions or give me support, it's all welcome and appreciated. Tell me it can't be done and I will keep going right past you ;-)

I have a hard time explaining myself. Sorry. It was not about being a face to bitcoin but being a force for your vision that you are pushing on this thread. That was my simpleton solution. Everything else you do is is good and I am glad you are involve in so many projects, with or without me :-)
11118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A bitcoin user group that is open and expresses the will of the community on: April 30, 2013, 06:12:19 AM
The press and "traditional" institutions will seek out "representatives" of bitcoin. You can't stop them, you can't tell them they're not representative.

Instead of finding representatives, I want them to find a vast association of users, with local chapters. No "representatives" other than the users themselves. If the users want to elect spokespeople in different geographies or disciplines they will. If they'd rather express themselves via Wiki, they will. If they want to nominate an intelligent Q&A Eliza bot, they will.

I'm not suggesting replacing the current crop of board members who "represent" bitcoin, with a new crop of elected board members who "represent" bitcoin - as you will see in my proposal, the board members are only caretakers of the organization's maintenance and internal finances. If you want to call them something else, we can.

In fact, if a board is too odious, let's run the organization with a lawyer as executor of the bylaws. Someone who isn't even remotely related to bitcoin, but only acts as a legal custodian.

Again I am open to all suggestions - don't mistake this proposal for one that replaces one board with another, that would be a waste of time.

My main model for this are organizations like the Silicon Valley Linux User Group, or many of the other chapters that exist around the world: http://www.svlug.org/about.php

Fittingly and amusingly, they decided (internally) to stop electing "Presidents" and "Vice Presidents" in 1999 and instead only elect functional roles, like webmaster and events manager. The people in these roles do not have any authority or policy making power. They just run the stuff based on an ad-hoc group of volunteers who help them. But the members ultimately direct the group through votes and meetings. That is the kind of association I'm looking to build.

11119  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Young Turks (850,000+ subscribers on youtube) responded to me about Bitcoins on: April 30, 2013, 05:28:29 AM
Put them in touch with the Bitcoin Foundation - and CC the email to the Foundation as well.

The PM's are through youtube, but I'll be sure to link them to the Foundation's email.

The Young Turks are big in liberal/progressive circles.  Very big.  Cenk, especially, is all over every media outlet there is.

As I've mentioned, if you were to draw a Venn diagram of the points of intersection between liberals, progressives, libertarians, conservatives, communists and fascists - and all that lies between on the political spectrum - bitcoin would be the only point of intersection.

And frankly, we could use some serious play in the liberal/progressive community - especially in the US.  I note that Obama was elected to a second term, so there must be quite a few of them.

Sadly Obama represents the very people who will not be a bitcoin friend. It would be the same thing if Romney was elected I believe. I agree about bitcoin being the ultimate crossroad with any kind of political sensibilities.
what people may miss abot why so many people from so many political colors love bitcoin is: bitcoin is money. Everyone Loves money! money is Power! Everyone Loves power!

that is why it is so simple to explain why everybody loves bitcoin because of the possibilities it may offers to so many wanting to reshape the world from their own perspective and political games one day.

We should just ban all those openly political people while it is young, from left to right while we build bitcoin. Let them come to the party, but LATE.
11120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paying a Small Country to Make Bitcoin an Official Currency on: April 27, 2013, 08:30:20 PM

LOL!

Well.. The land does belong to the CA teacher's union, something you would want bitcoin nothing to be associated with. But bitcoin would be cool with individual teachers and their family for sure.

Great find.
