11161  Economy / Speculation / Re: Still Believing That Bitcoin Can Rise High? on: July 13, 2017, 07:24:16 PM
This time last year if you'd told me the price would nudge $3000 I would've poured my soup down your Y fronts.

Almost all predictions have turned out to be junk, but if Bitcoin remains healthy then eventually it will reach some surreal prices. I might be dead before then though.
11162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IF YOU BOUGHT $5 OF BITCOIN 7 YEARS AGO, YOU’D BE $4.4 MILLION RICHER on: July 13, 2017, 07:12:05 PM
And if me grandma had balls she'd be me grandpa.

I'd love to know the number of people who held from then until now. I'd guess you could probably fit all of them on the top floor of a bus with room to spare.
11163  Economy / Goods / Re: I am selling gold for Bitcoin on: July 13, 2017, 07:08:27 PM
Hi and thanks for your post. The thing about escrow is that there is a risk of buyer fraud. When you are selling something that is high value and very low margin, that wouldn't make sense.  I am going to list some cheaper silver coins and see how it goes.

I seriously doubt anyone's going to touch you without some escrow action. It's a potential grind but that's just how it is.

If you're posting gold then film sticking it in an envelope and posting it. That should satisfy the escrow.
11164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: July 13, 2017, 07:03:59 PM
I don´t believe that it would be similar ride than last summer rather complete opposite if bitcoin there is the second pump in the crypto markets. There also could be some big news in upcoming months (catapult). This negativity right here is kind of frustrating after following NEM from the beginning, they have managed to hit in the top 10 and I bet it just beginning.

I could be wrong but I won't sell my XEM before it but I am kind of happy that many will. If I am correct there has been many big buy orders buying the weak hands off, which IMO is a good sign.

I'm not advocating selling it at all, but no one should put their knickers on their head and start screaming if it goes awful quiet again for quite some time.
11165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: July 13, 2017, 04:37:32 PM
I think that many people never heared of NEM before they read these news!
So NEM is just getting more popular with every company or goverment using the NEM blockchain...

It's a carbon copy of the previous pump and dump last summer. That time the price went down 10x and the volume dropped to less than 100 BTC again. I doubt it'll be that severe but something broadly similar is possible.
11166  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sexbots. Will you be indulging? on: July 13, 2017, 04:17:59 PM
Obviously not, because it will inhibit population growth whereas human beings are social beings and humans are creatures in pairs

I think there's no shortage of people out there who are utterly sick of having to deal with the opposite sex but still have the same old urges. The uptake might be shockingly high when viable ones arrive.
11167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: July 13, 2017, 01:59:38 PM
I know many of us are counting on catapult to give nem a big kick in the pants back up to the top 5 or at least raise the price, but what if it doesn't?
What if nobody cares that it's released and daily volume stays low ($3 mil is awful).
What if nem's rise to the top 5 was nothing but a p&d, the big players have made their money and moved on?

we had next to no interest for a long time, hit a giant spike over the span of a month, then are now back down to no volume and interest again.
I hope nem has some meteoric rise, but the longer time goes by the more I'm wondering if that rise has already come and gone.

It was a pure Poloniex pump and dump in my mind.

People should be looking over a longer time span. Things are being sown that'll pay off big time in a couple of years. In the meantime it might be rather dull.
11168  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How safe is Bitstamp for Americans? on: July 13, 2017, 09:25:34 AM
gentle, do you know anyone who has withdrawn and deposited large amounts at gemini or itbit? Also what has been your experience or others with GDAX, i believe the trading is free? Isnt it part of coinbase?

I'm not American so can't use either of those, but Gemini and Itbit are designed for large players so I assume they're set up for decent amounts. You certainly hear far fewer moans about Gemini than most places. Itbit is pretty mysterious in comparison so I'd stick to Gemini.

GDAX is Coinbase owned. Trading isn't free anywhere other than Japan these days.
11169  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 13, 2017, 01:06:45 AM
Since this is the speculation thread, do you guys think we will get to 2600 again before august? Lost and made some money, still need a bit more to break even again.

Pure guess? Nope. Too much turbulence for that price level again.
11170  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sexbots. Will you be indulging? on: July 13, 2017, 01:05:52 AM
This is messed up. There is no substitute for real life. I didn't even know there was such a thing as sexbots. The only way they would be acceptable is if your significant other buys one for you. Cheesy

Well, they're not really here yet. The stuff that is around at present isn't much more than an inert object that you can move around a bit. However the day will come when things are a lot more lifelike.

I don't think it would ever be lifelike enough for me but I can imagine young folks going for it in a big way. There's an insanely high proportion of Japanese youngsters who shun sex completely. Perhaps this'll make them warm to the idea. Or it could be a complete dead end.
11171  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How do I setup a hardware wallet? on: July 12, 2017, 10:24:28 PM
The main thing to do when you get one is verify the backup seed. You can do this by noting it down, not putting any money into it and making a note of the first Bitcoin address it gives you.

Wipe the hardware wallet. Re enter the seed and make sure you have the same address. Then you can put some money onto it knowing that the seed is good. Anyone who finds the seed can nab your BTC so make sure it's safely stored away.
11172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Photos: Life inside of China’s massive and remote bitcoin mines on: July 12, 2017, 10:16:29 PM
Jesus....how can you compete with this. I bet they don't pay for elecricity..

Quite a few mines have been built to be near under utilised power stations with oodles of electricity going spare. I don't know about free but it's possible.
11173  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Is blockchain.info wallet safe? on: July 12, 2017, 10:03:32 PM
No Online wallets are safe. They can scam anytime.

Blockchain.info can't scam you. They don't have your private keys.

However it's only as secure as your computer is and most computers are not secure.
11174  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Something bad is happening at Poloniex on: July 12, 2017, 10:01:42 PM
I've never seen a leading exchange get so much negative reviews. If for example EUREX or NASDAQ received so many complaints all over the web from unhappy customers, they would work extremely hard to improve their PR day and night.

Just the fact that Poloniex is completely silent about this astronomically high number of complaints and bad reviews is a huge red flag, this site might be having liquidity issues, or may be malevolent in intent and might try to outright steal customer funds benefiting from a lack of regulation in the crypto space. I would hope very much to be wrong, and for someone to step forward from their company to fix this huge reputational hit they've been getting over the last couple of months...

Simple. They know they can get away with it because they have the volume. That dwarfs any need to please customers. It's always been this way and it'll continue to be so until more discerning and demanding people get involved. However greed will always beat anything else.
11175  Other / Politics & Society / Sexbots. Will you be indulging? on: July 12, 2017, 09:37:21 PM
Lots of people seem to moaning with increasing intensity about the rise of sexbots. Some are claiming there'll be moral dilemmas as I assume a proper one will need some type of sentience.

Personally I can't ever see myself going for it. If I'm not imagining some bored Foxconn slave testing out the muff I'm slobbering all over, I'll be trying to catch it out like early text only adventure games by throwing out surreal suggestions.

Are you already saving up or will you stick to donkeys and greased holes in the ground?
11176  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 12, 2017, 08:49:16 PM
http://mailchi.mp/bitmex/crypto-trader-digest-1307661?e=2eeec28d17

"Many people smarter than me have opined on the issues surrounding the Bitcoin scaling debate. As such, I will only focus on the relevant dates traders should etch into their memory.
July 14th
On this date ..."

"Jihan Wu, Bitmain CEO, already opined that he will hard fork regardless of whether UASF succeeds or fails. It is not guaranteed that a hard fork could happen without issues, but this is the best time from their perspective to attempt one. Should it succeed, Bitcoin will quickly erase all prior losses and surpass $3,000. "

So the market will be delighted that a handful of Chinese miners are in full control of Bitcoin?

That's a really fucking stupid supposition.
11177  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Level by August 1 on: July 12, 2017, 07:01:58 PM
This is THE great upcoming mystery. There are so many variables. Regardless of whether the outcome is positive, traders are going to play scare tactics so I vote for $1000-1500 ish.
11178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Photos: Life inside of China’s massive and remote bitcoin mines on: July 12, 2017, 06:24:47 PM
Until now, I don't understand why the Chinese are more interested in bitcoin then other people. We need to see more of these mining farms around the world or It will be just a matter of time until we see centralization If we could call it that way. (This is valid for exchanges as well)

To make money. They have the tech, the manufacturing, the bodies, the electricity and the property going spare. Nowhere else can match it.

And it's already centralised.
11179  Other / Off-topic / Re: Porn is creating transgenders on: July 12, 2017, 06:18:21 PM
Not always.

I find the idea of a man fucking me 100% repulsive, though if other men wish to fuck each other that's wonderful.

You're telling me that if I watch some shit online I'll be bending over in the nearest public convenience before I know it? It will erase every single aversion I have to such an idea?

Wow. That's powerful stuff.
11180  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy Bitcoin ..... sign during Yellen's testimony to Congress on: July 12, 2017, 06:14:22 PM
He's now no doubt on his way to Guantanamo. They should've plastered a QR code on her forehead. Now that would be cool.
