11761  Economy / Speculation / Re: How realistic are the $1M Bitcoin predictions? on: May 15, 2017, 06:50:25 PM
With inflation and Bitcoin's continued existence it's inevitable.

With today's buying power, golly that's a stretch. However by the magic of market cap it could arrive tomorrow if people stopped selling.
11762  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will "WannaCry" attacks bode ill for BTC? on: May 15, 2017, 05:02:21 PM
It's pretty obvious, the mainstream media is controlled by the same people that want bitcoin dead, so they are going to keep attacking bitcoin no matter what, and this is a fantastic opportunity for them to use ramsomware as a way to throw bad publicity on it.

I've seen barely a mention of Bitcoin in the media coverage. At best it gets a footnote.

I don't give a shit what the masses think. They don't count yet. As for what The Man thinks, the most likely course of action is ever increasing heaviness on the off ramps but that was inevitable anyway.
11763  Economy / Speculation / Re: Thousands rushing to buy bitcoins to pay ransomware! price on rocket on: May 15, 2017, 04:23:43 PM
And so far this giant worldwide hack has netted about 35 BTC. Wow. They must be enjoying their private islands. As will we when the next 10 BTC bought pushes the price up a few tens of thousands of dollars.
11764  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 15, 2017, 04:11:25 PM
It's 2-3 million.

Eh? I think the Chinese disease of fake volumes has infected this figure as well.

It will be a substantial amount of coins, probably in the low hundreds of thousands, but nowhere near that amount.

China will also now be the world's safest place to trade because the exchanges won't be able to get away with one single thing. There'll be fees as well which means the endless dump fests won't be viable. Its behaviour is going to be very different from now on.
11765  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 15, 2017, 04:03:09 PM
I donīt find an objective reason for this price decline except speculation.

I couldn't much of an objective reason for the rise either. Sometimes things just happen because they feel like happening.
11766  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is useless or is it? on: May 15, 2017, 11:18:58 AM
The company to look to when it comes to actual usage is Bitpay. And by the sounds of it they're busier than ever. It does look like they're moving more into B2B type stuff than retail. If you compare the options for businesses looking for international transfers Bitcoin would still be the best option if fees were $30-40. I hope it doesn't get to that stage though.
11767  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I want to build Web bitcoin wallet service on: May 15, 2017, 12:37:24 AM
No one will trust you so it's better to stop before you even get started. These days hopefully people are wise enough to never use services like this but I don't think they are.

You'll probably also need a few million dollars for compliance. It's coming for all services.
11768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 12, 2017, 04:49:27 PM
https://forum.nem.io/t/is-anyone-working-on-hardware-wallet-integration/4380/2

It looks like they are in the process of considering hardware wallets.
11769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 12, 2017, 02:24:17 PM
If it has to be forked for the ledger wallet, does it mean we need to take our xem out of the current nano wallet? We can only send it back once the fork is done, i'm not familiar with how these works but is that so?

No. You're taking the Ledger software and forking it. Nothing to do with anything XEM.
11770  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 12, 2017, 12:45:43 PM
I just asked this on the NEM forum. If anyone's on the telegram groups they should ask this too. I'm not signed up with it. This needs sorting soon.
11771  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool NEW ATH - 175,000 Unconfirmed Transactions on: May 12, 2017, 12:28:53 AM
Of course we need more capacity but stuff like this is so childishly blatant it takes the piss. There's no way of stopping it and perhaps even if there was more capacity it would continue.
11772  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool NEW ATH - 175,000 Unconfirmed Transactions on: May 12, 2017, 12:06:20 AM
Nope. It's the usual spamming.

https://blockchain.info/address/3QQB6AWxaga6wTs6Xwq8FYppgrGinGu15f

I don't think there's a new user sending thousands of transactions to themselves unless they're a bit soft in the head.

Maybe it's a new spammer.

Bigger blocks will either satisfy the person doing this, or maybe they're that deranged they'll spam until the end of time.

And I seem to recall a few weeks back when Unlimited had been massively pooh poohed by everyone else, the blockchain miraculously cleared up for a short time.

Funny that.
11773  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: time to admit its not "spam" , blocks are full on: May 11, 2017, 06:52:16 PM

Yeah.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii ight.

This is so legit my ovaries are aching.

I'd better get on the Wu Batphone if I want anything to go through I suppose.
11774  Economy / Speculation / Re: China is coming back to the game, moon? on: May 11, 2017, 01:06:14 PM
"Buy the rumor, sell the fact". What if the current "steady grow" is just a pump before the Chinese coming in; and then the dump will happen?

But this time around dumping and buying back costs them money in fees. If they attempted it in the volume they used to they'd all be skint within a few weeks. They're going to be players of course but the behaviour will be a lot more staid than before.
11775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 11, 2017, 12:33:42 PM
You must be trolling or something.

Um, nope.

They've always had a chronic transparency problem and it hasn't let up. They are indeed still functional to an extent but if they changed their attitude they could be a whole lot more.
11776  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 11, 2017, 12:16:52 PM
and why is that?

Because it's a questionable shit hole. It's hard to know who owns it, where it's located, what's true and what isn't. It craps out at vital moments and the hack was a pathetic oversight on their part if what they say is true.

In this day and age it's slightly depressing that somewhere of that nature is still one of the leading crypto exchanges.
11777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 11, 2017, 12:03:48 PM
yea id like to see BTC/XEM margin pair on Bitfinex Smiley

I would to see XEM have absolutely nothing to do with Bitfinex.
11778  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will BU Fork Soon Rip the Network in Half? on: May 11, 2017, 11:45:03 AM
okay, thank you for your replies.  It seems that Bitcoin wont' suddenly rip in half overnight.

But wait!  ...Ethereum did...suddenly there were 2 seriously competing versions of Ethereum.

So what's the difference? that means ETH suddenly split in half but Bitcoin won't do the same?  Is Ethereum not supposed to have a sort of clever consensus system also?

Ethereum has a leader that everyone follows and a smaller userbase most of whom had a serious problem that the ETH rollback would solve.

Bitcoin's far more diverse and there's a lot more riding on it maintaining its integrity.

I have seen almost no one other than the tiny group hawking it state that they want Unlimited. If it did happen then it would be a sad demonstration of Bitcoin's centralisation and I'd be walking away. No doubt many others would too.
11779  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hypothetically: How/Where is the best place to sell $2M USD worth of Bitcoin ? on: May 11, 2017, 11:27:49 AM
Why making the thing more difficult that it is. Go to Kraken, Bitstamp or any other and sell it there. Kraken will send you a bank transfer in 24 hours, and on the top, without asking any ID proof, just your phone number

Lord help you if you think that's how an amount of that magnitude would work.

With the highest verification at Kraken, which probably involves living with the CEO for a month so he can vouch for you, you can take out $500,000 per month. Bitstamp would probably just email  you with a 'LOL' if you tried to withdraw that amount without providing a sperm sample.
11780  Economy / Speculation / Re: China is coming back to the game, moon? on: May 11, 2017, 11:13:58 AM
they are 40-45 % of the market.

No they're not.

In the brief period when they were operating with fees they were just another player among many others. China was quickly exposed as the mirage it is. Them getting shut down was the best thing that's happened to this market in years. There's absolutely no way it would be where it is if China had been allowed to continue operating as it had.
