This part of the story makes some sense. I can accept it. We all send merits to accounts or people we know they are close to us. Whoever is behind the account now, they are or were co-workers. I don't see anything wrong if other co-worker decides to send merits. Can we have some words from the person who is behind the account Cratoon now? I believe that every trading transaction between two users has a chat history about fees, price and how to do it, it's not as easy as you send it to the exchange. So I'm sure you do too before the transaction - even the last one, then things could be different.

Unfortunately, I have to agree that this is true, although a few years ago, it worked well and in 2-3 days the reported site was blocked. I don't know what happened, but Google has obviously changed something in its policy towards phishing reports, or it just has too many reports, or they fired those who dealt with it.
On the other hand, I have never had success with reports to hosting companies, but I definitely think that they should do a lot more to combat phishing. Obviously, they don't care too much either, because it is important to charge for the service, and if someone reports abuse, they still profited with the fact that they no longer have to provide the service.
I succeeded several times reporting the domain and hosting provider especially with namecheap. They seemed to me very seriously handles the reporting. Google is just too big these days. We can speculate only but they know their real reasons. |

This repuation system is pure garbage killing honest accounts and supporting scammers gaining trust to scam other people.
The system is far from perfect but we have choice to make it better. Give people reasons to hear you. Ignore people who always find you are a problem. You are always open to be friendly to others. Verifying the file signature is the best practice but pretty sure there are many who do not have any idea how PGP works and how to deal with Kleopatra or such type of software. So assuring someone on the official site is the first step of many security measurements in my opinion. It's the first step, agreed, but it is entirely inadequate on its own. There are links on the Electrum download page to tutorials regarding how to verify your download, plus a quick search of this forum will find this excellent thread: [GUIDE] How to Safely Download and Verify Electrum [Guide]. Absolutely it's another step in the process, but we shouldn't be taking shortcuts when it comes to the security of our wallets. I wish if everyone was such aware. I lost counts how many times I read people lost their coins because of installing fake Electrum or updated it with a click of a button and the balance disappeared. What can have a preventive effect is certainly to report phishing site to Google (it can be made directly from some browsers - a report of the deceptive site) or to a hosting company. The only problem with phishing is that such pages appear in large numbers, and that means when you stop one, at least five new ones pop up.
Reporting to Google is waste of time from my experience but it's a good practice. Reporting to the hosting company works better especially I found Namecheap always takes such reports seriously. |

Did you use a free VPN?
With a free VPN, you will more possibly get that problem because you can share a same IP address with other people. You can prove it later but it will need customer support from the Sherbet team.
Free VPN has poor encryption too.
It's a free VPN. I usually use TOR connection to access the sites where I want to keep myself anonymous but some of the gambling sites do not work properly on TOR, for them I use VPN. Problem will be, you will miss to communicate with legit users who are newbie but need your help. The type of PM OP received are very common on the forum and you do not need to be an expert to understand what they want from these PMs. Just delete it or report it to the admin or ignore. Don't need to make it a big deal. |
