1121  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: No Asicminer Groupbuy-Thread yet? The auction is running already! on: April 17, 2013, 07:35:53 AM
These look hard to setup, as these are just barebone boards - also there is some mention about pool setup in the faq. I guess only for seasoned miners. I guess about 15-20 btc per board is fair price, given 3-module avalon batch 3 was about 76btc shipped.

they are easier than you think

dont be afraid

I appreciate everyone who selflessly donates their BTC towards securing the network. Once the hardware is cheaper and widely available I will also pitch in.

try to determine how they are going to spin it before you agree
1124  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: No Asicminer Groupbuy-Thread yet? The auction is running already! on: April 17, 2013, 06:08:11 AM
There are some very generous bidders on that list.

it kind of is the only thing on the market in a way
1125  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Can I get some clarification on this BFL product? on: April 17, 2013, 06:03:06 AM
So I've been seeing a lot of stuff about how BFL hasn't shipped people's ASICs yet. This thread isn't about that.
I just want some info about this:
https://products.butterflylabs.com/homepage/5-gh-s-bitcoin-miner.html

Am I incorrect in thinking that 5 GH/s is 5000 MH/s?
At $274 (assuming BFL ever gets their shit together) isn't that an excellent deal?

Also, it says it needs to be plugged into a host computer. What part of the host computer does it draw on?

basically it just draws small amounts of power and bandwidth.

comparatively it is a strong miner. it used to be 120$ if i remember correctly.

it is what we all thought: wow what a deal! 5gh is 5000mh.

at this point though, you don't get a really good place in line so i would wait and see how fast bfl is shipping stuff out if they start shipping at all. it would be unsound of you to not take that into account. if bfl starts shipping stuff out slow, it is almost as bad as not shipping at this rate, because at 300 units a day it will take them almost a year to get out just the preorders.

i would sit and wait. other opportunities are coming. in 10 weeks about we will have avalon chips on US soil.
1126  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Any know if they can turn this into a miner? on: April 17, 2013, 05:48:15 AM
i highly doubt it. i don't see the fascination with these tiny open source things like the arduino/raspberry pi. highly unoptimized.

fine for cute projects though.

very nice. wish you had some 5.45. superior and cheaper cartridge.

very nice price though. beautiful dimples.

i never understood the draw of these things besides getting a materialist woman to spread her legs
1129  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: No Asicminer Groupbuy-Thread yet? The auction is running already! on: April 17, 2013, 01:37:33 AM
this is kinda sad to watch. milking a monopoly. i cannot wait until we have the avalon chips on US soil and can have our way with them proper.

1131  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [In Dev] 28nm mining FPGA (Amateur) on: April 17, 2013, 01:29:14 AM
epic is lucky cause he has the fpga hook up.

fpgas normally aren't in cases. harder to cool.
1132  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: monitor & marital problems on: April 17, 2013, 01:25:53 AM
Google "BAMT", use windiskimager to make a bootable USB drive.  No muss, no fuss - don't even need the hard drive.  If you need to access it, try SSH from a laptop or even "I-devices".

that is over his head more than likely.

he is trying to get the monitor to work.

1135  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Having Issues With A 5-Card Setup (2.5 LTC bounty for fix) on: April 16, 2013, 03:46:38 PM
Running 5 GPUs at a time shouldn't be an issue, it's been done before.

Try completely uninstalling everything with the AMD install manager. Reboot and search for any left over amd .dll files in system32 or other places. Delete them manually, there tends to be a few left over.
Reboot again. Check device manager to see if it's still showing error 43. If it is, uninstall the card through its properties menu and reboot. See if windows update picks something up (the found new hardware dialog?) Then, reboot again and try installing AMD drivers again.

I had the same issue when I was trying to use an HD5870 and HD4850 at the same time. Basically a shuffle of uninstalling AMD and Windows drivers eventually resolved it, and there was never anything wrong with the card or my motherboard.

ah, yes. the true way of fixing computers: play with it until it works xD
1136  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some inside Pictures of ButterFlyLabs! on: April 16, 2013, 03:45:12 PM
The words "late" and "delay" are the closest BFL has ever came to being honest.

The Box of Felons Fans is quite an accurate picture though.  When they go bust and have an asset auction I really want a BFL Box of Fans as a souvenir.  My plan for it is to keep my switch and my router inside to keep it cool and maybe just a storage place to put an Android tablet on it that I would have playing a GUI like screen saver promising cool things like Time Travel or attractive 20 year old women who want to pay a middle aged man for sex.

are you near KC? i want one too :3
1137  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ripples...How Do I buy them? on: April 16, 2013, 03:41:36 PM
plenty of people are selling their stacks of 29,800 ripple. i sold mine off for some btc. was a pretty smooth transaction.
1138  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best site to trade giftcards for BTC? on: April 16, 2013, 03:40:08 PM
when it comes down to it, you are going to be trading with a person. base your level of trust on that person, and take your time. scammers are everywhere.
1139  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why hasn't the porn industry jumped on bitcoin yet? on: April 16, 2013, 03:39:13 PM
this reminds me of when i wasted 15$ back when i was 17 on a porn sub.

i still regret it.

i was super horny.
1140  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ASIC rig setup question on: April 16, 2013, 03:37:41 PM
you have to alter the commands with cmd line miners.

i suggest guiminer. it shows you all of the options clearly instead of having to learn all of the commands for a cmd line miner.
