1121  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Possible fraud on: October 14, 2023, 08:40:11 AM
OP, please remove the link from the post, you are potentially harming people by giving the scam site a backlink from this forum.

And yes the similarities with the actual KuCoin site and in the name, the above is 100% a scam. This is nothing new and is often done by crafty people to get some quick bucks off an unsuspecting person who did not bookmark the original site.
1122  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keep my family in your prayer! on: October 13, 2023, 08:43:40 AM
It is useless at this point to think what could have been done to prevent this and to blame yourself for the situation. Rather you should focus on getting your wife and child treated and getting them back home, which I am sure you will be able to.

I hope you find the strength to pull through this and not get emotional and make a mistake. Things will get better, just dont lose hope.

Will pray for you and your family! Keep us posted.
1123  Local / India / Re: India's KoinBX rockets into top 100 spot exchanges on CoinMarketCap on: October 13, 2023, 07:50:48 AM
I came to know about this exchange only after this thread was created. I was also clueless that they existed. I did some research about them and that too only using CMC data. They look legit to me, I haven't heard or read anything wrong about them. I haven't used the exchange and don't plan to as you need to pass KYC.
Possible that they have not been marketing their product unlike CoinDCX has. I remember in the year of COVID, their names were plastered all over the Indian Business news channels and they had their own crypto related segment in the daily telecast. Point to note that I was looking forward to them continuing this program but they have slowed down as far as I remember.

At least some traction in the media for crypto should be present, in my opinion.
1124  Local / India / Re: Now is the time to buy bitcoin on: October 13, 2023, 07:48:35 AM
Please, which wallet do you recommend for holding of bitcoin?
A hardware wallet would be recommended. But even an airgapped device running an electrum wallet on a TailOS built is enough.

Keeping your device safe and your private keys safe, electrum is not a bad option because the above method may not be feasible for everyone.

No need to be paranoid and lose sleep over wallet, there are many depending upon the type of device you primarily would be using to spend/receive on. Suggest you read more about the wallets and then continue with more questions so others can chime in with their opinions too.
1125  Economy / Gambling / Re: Cryptoplay.io - Casino and Sportsbook | Race and Rise to Riches - $2M | VIP ⚽️🎰 on: October 13, 2023, 07:44:35 AM
Firstly I wish all the best for the new casino. Hope the project sees new highs and no lows and zero complaints.

I took part in the signature campaign which ran for only a week and have some stuff to rant about.

Casinos has existed in the bitcoin ecosystem since it was started as a basic means of spending those coins at the lack of other places to spend. Casinos like Primedice/Stake, Fortunejack, back in those days Rollin, Just-Dice and Yolodice (to name a few) all run campaigns at length because they understood the potential of onboarding new and potential members on their site through this forum. In fact campaigns started with Primedice and its sister site Stake is running its campaign at full force throughout the forum now.

Other types of marketing work but this forum is full of users who are earning coins and they need places to spend them and thus the success of the campaigns.

I understand that CryptoPlay's administration and marketing may have different expectations and unique methods of marketing that we are yet to see and bounty manager @Little Mouse would have already explained these things in detail, just my 2sats.

Have a great day everyone Smiley
1126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What encouraged your continuity in Bitcoin investment and Bitcointalk forum? on: October 12, 2023, 10:11:21 AM
I’d like to know what motivates you to invest in a speculative asset like Bitcoin?
Observation of its performance of the years. Bitcoin is censorship-resistant, decentralized and deflationary in supply. Such characters in one asset is unique in this world.

Quote
What is the driving force that encourages your continuity in the Bitcointalk forum?
Being able to mix with similar minded people who have interest in cryptocurrency and hear their thoughts because they might be going through the same problems that I am. How they cope and how they continue to survive through that is encouraging.

Quote
who do you listen to in the forum and study to keep your conviction solid?
I only listen to myself. Though I read every post that I wish to.

Quote
What do you think are the reasons why some person stopped contributing to the forum positively or are they carried away by the rank they have?
Personal reasons, lack of incentive, beef with other users. There can be so many reasons but that should not drive you down.
1127  Other / Meta / Re: Huge site outage! on: October 12, 2023, 10:03:23 AM
Finally we are back in business and the thread in Meta has started. Was the first place I checked to be sure that I was not the only one, though I had already got same replies from other members on telegram.

But this is not the only one in the recent month. Hope admins can get the problem solved soon.

Theymos just forgot to pay the bills this month. Better make sure to remind him to set some reminders.
LMAO!
1128  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sustainable Approach For Your Earnings in Gambling on: October 12, 2023, 10:00:35 AM
This is considering you are in a winning streak which is rarely the case, making a decent winning from a casino is very rare - dust winning streak cumulative amount is likely <5$ and not worth the time. You can be assured that someone before you has already made similar plans with different numbers and they have no succeeded.

Its either you gamble or you dont gamble. If you want sustainable earnings get a job or run a business and dont take the risky methods of making money. As soon as you get into that vicious cycle of gambling, you will lose money.

1132  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Is Better Than Digital Gold on: October 11, 2023, 09:00:42 AM
Here Matrixport has its own interest, they have financial services and possible Bitcoin ETFs mean more traffic for them. Hence they would always propagate the idea. Its a good thing that ETFs can come in the US market, I do expect such moves in many other countries too even if some have put up unnatural taxation on crypto capital gains. With ETFs a market can be made secondary to the actual crypto market and it will generate more interest in crypto and possibility of buying crypto for long term value.

Here gold and crypto are not comparable, I have said this in many previous threads. Both have pros and cons and to be a diligent investor you need both along with many other classes of assets.
1133  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Relying on gamble wins is dangerous to mental health on: October 11, 2023, 08:51:33 AM
People needs not to put all their hope in games they are not sure of winning, because relying on it can be very dangerous to the mental health. Play gamble and remove your mind from the money that will be gained till it is achieved.
A dollar to 2500dollars is firstly a skeptical news to digest. But the second part is completely palatable.

Such losses are not new in the gambling industry and players are known to have made the mistake of either going greedy or chasing a loss, both of which are fatal mistakes. The trick to avoid this from happening is stopping as soon as the winning bet is cleared and cashing out from the casino to never come back. But this is practically not possible for any gambler in the heat of the situation.

Tell your friend that this should be a learning experience for them and not to repeat it.
1134  Other / Meta / Re: Is there any way of knowing decayed smerits. on: October 11, 2023, 08:38:22 AM
Its more like a deterrent to laziness about merits than a reality.

sMerits dont decay from what I have observed but the above statement should make it a point that members having sMerits should take the initiative to spend those merits rather than hoard them.

Of course theymos might come up with new ideas in future and actually make it a point to decay them. Possible they had foreseen this situation to arise when it was first introduced, people tend to ignore new things at first, but it did not turn out like that.
1135  Local / India / Re: Thoughts and Suggestions on unofficial rules being followed in Indian board on: October 10, 2023, 04:57:26 PM
Here are my comments about the child boards:

Mining - keep it as it is. Mining in India is almost non-existent but no need to retire the board right away. Things may change in future, fingers crossed.

Marketplace - Not really functional, more like a "service discussion" section. More Thoughts?

Regional Languages - Previously the dumping place for Translated threads to get bounty payments by translators. I mean no offense, section can be improved a lot if specific language users can start using their language.

Press and News - dead since almost a year now.

Altcoins - Not getting any idea what to do with it. (Get Idea?)

Buyer/Seller Rep - Maybe the global Reputation section is better than this?

Offtopic - spam, but need a section to keep the weirdos in place, right?

We need a mod for these sections too.
1136  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hodling vs trading on: October 10, 2023, 04:51:15 PM
Hodling is a part of trading, so how are you comparing these two terms?

Hodl does not necessarily mean to never sell, even though thats is exactly what many users end up doing. It is a way to tide over bear markets and wait till they reach a target price to sell.

If you compare hodl to long term trade then it makes sense and trading essentially would mean day trading. Investing also is a long term trade and can be said to be similar to hodl.
1137  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often is your luck in gambling? on: October 10, 2023, 04:33:26 PM
I would say exercise diligence when interpreting these news.

A person winning a rare spot in a game and getting a big amount as prize money, you should think how many retries they have had to undergo to get that. That is their cumulative loss and it is comparable to the hard work done by a successful person before their fame, we see the fame but dont see the background.

At the same time remember that the few people who won, means a lot many who lost too.

Hence gambling should be limited to a fun game/time killer with a cost not a career or income source.
1138  Local / India / Re: Clousound: The Deflationary Crypto for Music Lovers? on: October 09, 2023, 04:42:27 PM
Revenue generation becomes a problem for such projects.

I remember only one Music based project that was promoted in this forum and I took part in their campaign, it was Viberate. It seems pretty good when it first came out and it was giving out rewards in VIB token at that time for people who contributed to their database of artists. The plan was to allow VIB to pay for artists in getting up gigs and concerts.

Eventually they stopped going that path and changed their approach and now the coin is of no use. Although the team is genuine and they have offices in many countries.

Still they all end up being a pump and dump, mostly because of the lack of acceptance of crypto.
1139  Economy / Economics / Re: Women are more economical than men. on: October 09, 2023, 10:18:25 AM
My take on this is that gender does not determine anything and this is based on the fact that I have seen both types of women who manage economic well and those who don't and same with men too. This is a different factor that is not based on gender but how a human approaches a problem altogether.

You could go with any opinion, but it's an opinion only. In order to know if a candidate is going to manage finances well put them to the test and be the judge on your own. No need to generalize it.
1140  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is a Standing Desk the Right Choice for Traders? on: October 09, 2023, 10:11:19 AM
Go with trading intra day, you might need these things but I find all these are a waste. Go with long term trading and you will be able to keep a stable sleep pattern and trade at the same time. The more you go into spot and all those leverage and All the more stress you will have to face.

Why increase that stress with chance of varicose veins and all?

If you feel it's good for you, do it but I don't know ho long in the older age you would be able to continue standing like that. Ergonomic chairs are good as an alternative but the best is to move to long term trading.

Even then a good trader knows when to buy or sell with just a device in any posture.
