You are wrong. All ETH prefork have the equivalent amount of ETC. So it is not making them "choose" which path they should go. They can go both paths and it is advisable that they should hold both ETH and ETC. In the future both will diverge and it will be correct to cheer for the success of both. The success of one or the other will make the value of your portfolio higher. |

There is no need for that. The DAO attacker can do what he wants with his ETC. Charles Hoskinson has already committed in helping ETC's development. He is already in the process of getting the community and the developers together to make a road map, create a governance system, contribute code thru his own developers and hire more developers and he will provide starting funds to maintain development. He will also help in looking for investors willing to put money in ETC's development and growth. Expect this to start in the coming weeks he said. |

Looking at the ETH/ETC fiasco, and since hacks are an unavoidable part of crypto life, I would like to launch a crypto 2.0 type which would allow transaction reversal, strictly restricted to large hacks of coin in general.
Would you be interested in such a Crypto with reversible transactions?
How would you implement a transaction or smart contract reversal?
Would it be recommendable to have some kind of elected human officials (by wallet token vote) to conduct such reversals?
What do you mean by "large hacks"? You mean the larger amounts hacked? That would be unfair not only for the people but for the system itself. Why would an ordinary person use it if he knows that he will not be refunded if his wallet was hacked? It would be better for him to store his money in a bank where it is insured. True cryptocurrencies do not need reversible transactions. Settlement finality has value for a niche that crypto is created for. That is unregulated markets, dark or regular. |

Dballing also has a point here. I agree that BTC is king and will always be king if the situation stayed the same as today, but having LTC as a back up plan in case something goes heavily wrong with BTC might not be a bad idea.
How is the mining situation with LTC? Is the hash power distribution ok or is it becoming like what we have in BTC?

That is good news. Finally we are seeing financial support for development. This very unexpected because it is coming from China. Maybe they are the ones who keep buying ETC even it is falling and now has huge financial incentive if the platform becomes successful.

If they dumped the ETC at a price of $2 each, that is good money. thats true though the hacker is definitely not going to be dumping his money soon, i think that he will hold it for the future when a pump will happen Nobody dares to pump the ETC if he knows somebody will dump the coins to him at a very high price. If the DAO hacker declare that he will not dump his coins, the price of ETC will rise a lot. And he will have enough to support the development.
The DAO hacker does not necessary like the Ethereum or the ETC. He is in for the money. So the price of ETC might crash to zero. That could be true. We should not pin our hope of the success on the actions of the a single hacker who might not care about other people. The ETC price is dropped against ETH at the moment. The price has dropped 25% in the last 24 hours. The dump might have started. The dump is indeed on right now. There are massive sell walls across all exchanges. I will be sad to see ETC go. The ETC has diverted some hash rate from ETH so I have mined more than expected ETH. I mined few ETH in the last two days due to the increased difficulty. Maybe the ETC should be kept live for longer. In several months you will not be able to mine ETH anymore because Vitalik will fork it again and make the switch to Casper POS.  So better for you to start also mining ETC to help secure it so that it will not die. |

Hacker may not dump ETC so early as ETC is getting lots of support from other devs and hashrate is also rising continuously. May be price will test 0.01 btc atleast as ETH got dumped from 0.03 to 0.02 around after hardfork so that remaining bitcoin out of ETH marketcap may flow towards ETC making ETC 0.01 btc per coin and also hashrate is divided in same 1:2 ratio right now.
Sorry the hash rate is not rising continuously. It is only fluctuating up and down in since the beginning and I do not think it has risen past the peak of around 1000 GH/s. Does anybody know why the miners go in and out of ETC? |

The main reason why ETC is falling is that the hype is over. Simple. Now it is time for it to develop fundamentally so that it will gain real value, not hype value. One thing to always watch out for in ETC is the hash rate. If it grows quickly expect long term growth of the coin.

I believe that for ETC to acheive long term success the hash rate must increase. Price and the volume does not matter because what are they really good for? They should only concern you if you are a day trader.
Support from the miners must grow soon or it will be in danger of getting attacked.

What is the update to this? It is like ETC holders and supporters are in denial of this and they are ignoring it. They all hail that the ETC from the white hat hackers will be returned but it might not be true. Is this the reason why ETC is going down this quickly? I'd say that is the reason, as people like to avoid uncertainty. After the Ardor Snapshot, NXT will not plummet in value. NXT is still home to the Multigateway and it could be used in an exchange like fashion. Especially when atomic swaps and Instantdex is complete. NXT exchange fees even with this massive increase in nxt price only end up like 3 NXT ( 15000 satoshi ) when all said and done, 1 NXT to buy the order and 2 NXT to send to a non-NXT address plus txfees of the coin. Atomic Swaps will make this competitive method of transacting.
Sorry but I will have to disagree. NXT is rising because of the Ardor snap shot announcement. The NXT community were the ones who first hurriedly bought NXT and made it rise in price. Before that NXT was already on the way down below 1000 satoshis. "Multigateway" or "atomic swaps" were not making the price go up. But speculation because of the Ardor snap shots did. |

It is really bad that we are seeing that the hash rate is going down. There are people who argue that the success of ETC depends in the hash rate. It is not the volume of the coin and it is not the price. The miners' support is very essential in this very delicate situation.

Any ETH you hold before the fork can be split and have an equivalent amount of ETC. That is how I understood it. But I saw some posts from users that they lost ETH in trying to split them.

I think Ethereum is better than XMR , even though both coins have good market caps , but sure ETH is much better , because it managed to fetch more investors , also it has been growing faster , it is not a long time when ETH price was $ 0.9 , then the growing began , and now ETH marcet cap equals more than $ 900 m .
Also, ETH and XMR are very different one from other. While ETH focuses on smart contracts/dapp development, XMR focuses on providing an anonymous way of transacting by the use of ring signatures. Still, ETH could implement anonymity in the near future, thus making it a full fledged decentralized app platform with anonymizing techniques like ring signatures. Will this ever happen to ETH? Only time will tell. Just my opinion In case you did not know. Zcash technology is going to be built on Ethereum. The platform will have anonymous smart contract transactions in the future if it is successful. The people behind zcash will fork Ethereum's parity client with zero knowledge proofs built in it. In case you did not know Ethereum is a flawed platform, no one can make secure contracts on it and Zcash is as untested. How is it flawed? Can you please explain why? Because if it is really "flawed" like you say that no one can create secure smart contracts then why are there people and researchers from universities interested in the platform? Why would the zcash development team or at least a couple of people from it be interested in developing zero knowledge proofs in Ethereum? I am sorry if I am skeptical. Who is Milo Icon and what are the 30 projects that is going to move to ETC? Who are backing these projects? If they are small projects started in a "garage", I foresee this trend will happen more in the future. ETC will become a "community" platform very much like NXT and all the projects will come from the community. ETH will be a corporate chain and most of the venture capitalist funded projects will choose to be created and developed in the forked chain. This will be good because there will be less competition from the both of them. Large corporations will only use private chains where there is no public access and as such have no use for ETH at all. You will see a few startups spun off (marketed) as being major advances in ETH space publicized to support the continuing pump. I do not mean the large corporations. What I mean is the venture capitalist funded start ups that would want to create a business using an Ethereum forked blockchain. The ETC side will be all about the community like NXT. I think it will be good for both. Also no one has yet answered my question about who Milo Icon is. Who is he? |
