11261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: List of Big companies accepting Bitcoin on: July 23, 2014, 07:37:45 PM
Latvian airline airBaltic has become the world’s first airline to accept Bitcoin as payment for its tickets to 60 destinations in Europe, Middle East, Russia and the CIS.

As announced recently, airBaltic achieved a net profit of EUR +1 million for the full year of 2013, one year ahead of the initial business turnaround schedule. airBaltic serves 60 destinations with direct flights from its home base in Riga, Latvia. From every one of these, airBaltic offers convenient connections via North Hub Riga to its network spanning Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, CIS and the Middle East.

WOW
Great news!
Initial lost from starting post is already great, plus Amazon and now even Air company...
If other companies continue to accept Bitcoin in short period of time, Bitcoin will very soon become mainstream and this will also increase the value of Bitcoin again, media will talks more about it, more people will become confident in bitcoin... .)
I can see bright future for Bitcoin.

11263  Other / Off-topic / Re: If you could move to any country, which would you choose? on: July 22, 2014, 07:58:13 PM
If I could move to the other country, I think i will choose London, UK.
First, it's not to fare from my current place.
English is my second language
and last, i really like their culture and tradition and could imagine to live there.
11264  Other / Off-topic / Re: Book recommendations and reviews on: July 22, 2014, 07:50:20 PM
I can recommend Miserable from Victor Hugo.
Great novel about real people in 19 th century in French, their circumstances, struggles, suffering, etc.
Great book!

Your right ,the book is a  masterpiece ,i almost forgot about the famous Jean Valjean! This book contains a little bit of everything. By the time you're finished you've had a bit of military history (the whole Waterloo section), several political essays from both the "royalist" and "republican" side of things, some education about how Europeans cities, such as Paris, have grown from the middle ages to modern times, and a fair bit of philosophy of the meaning of life, the difference between right and wrong, and the relationship of duty to morality.

Yes, I agree.
Fantastic book, the best I read in my life.
To this very good review above I can add one more important point.
This great story is very good example of moral values, goodness, living for the sake of others by the main character, Jean Valjean.
Despite all evil things happened in his life, all bad luck, he remained honest, good man and helped a lot people during his life.
This man is really very good example for all of us and this story always inspire me.
11265  Economy / Economics / Re: Can bitcoin survive without the Internet? on: July 22, 2014, 07:34:06 PM
It would be impossible for the government to shut down the internet. Most of what is on the internet is protected by the 1st amendment, therefore the internet is protected by the constitution.

Many human rights and freedom, protected by the 1st amendment, is already restricted by the government because of the war against terrorism.
If government decide that terrorists using Internet for criminal purposes and that only way to prevent this is shut down of Internet, I have no doubt that they will do this.

11266  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Florida jury awards $23.6 billion to widow in smoking lawsuit on: July 22, 2014, 07:26:26 PM
I think that this decision is really ridiculous.
They are a lot controversy about smoking, it's good for health or not but despite this everybody, by free will, made free choice to smoke.
It's not responsible attitude to blame someone else for the results of your own decision.
Of course, if you count on court to give you a lot money (with good lawyer), it's not hard decision to go to the court and try luck.
11267  Other / Off-topic / Re: Harry Potter Vs Lord of the Rings on: July 22, 2014, 07:08:26 PM
I liked both stories.
It looks HP is more for teenagers, and Lord of the Rings for older people, but still both stories are fantastic, with very deep messages about goodness and serving community, friendship, love etc.
Both stories talking about fantasy world but in the same time give us very valuable lesson about everyday life and goals...
If I will have children, I will read to them both stories.
11268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin does not have a volatility problem! on: July 22, 2014, 06:50:06 PM
I'm sick and tired of hearing this over and over.

Bitcoin has a "Market Cap" of 8 billion dollars where the perceived "value" hangs by a thread almost all the time.  What regulation will be passed?  Will China ban it?  OMG Amazon takes Bitcoin.  OMGWTFBBQ the banks are shutting down accounts.  Add to this the huge potential of Bitcoin itself and you have a recipe for volatility.  This is not a bad thing!  Price discovery for Bitcoin will continue for a long time.

Stocks regularly gain/lose huge percentages of value, do you ever hear that there is a "volatility problem" with the stock market?  NO

This perception that Bitcoin cannot be a currency because it is so volatile has to stop.  It IS a currency now.  The volatility is caused by normal price discovery on something that "could" change the world.

Is anyone else sick of this?

Hi Smiley
You must breath and relax.

1st - Bitcoin is not a currency. You might think it is because you can pay with Bitcoin for many cool and different things. But Bitcoin is not a currency. It is a digital currency. A currency for people over the Interweb.

But It is not a currency at the moment Smiley and it is nothing BAD! Smiley When Bitcoin will became a currency - regulations will come to it. I mean gov regulations.

2nd - There is a lot of volatility in Bitcoin Smiley And most of us likes it when we talk about market price volatility Smiley

3rd - Yes. Price is not yet discovered. And more likely it is sure that it will be much much higher after few years.

Smiley

Regards.

I can agree with the most points but I think that very soon we will have to give new definition of currency.
I think concept that currency must be in the paper form, and that some bank or country must be behind, soon will be over.
Of course, this will not happen overnight but gradually, as Bitcoin come closer to the ''mainstream'' status.
11269  Other / Off-topic / Re: My 18th birthday (need to earn money) on: July 22, 2014, 06:36:28 PM
From my experience on line work at the computer from home is the best job you can find.
You can finish some courses, get some skills and maybe start bulding websits, become expert for Internet marketing etc.
or if you don't have time, money or patience for this, you can try some legit on line businesses, MLM based like SFI, PTC programs or even here on bitcoin forum you can join signature campaign.
11270  Other / Off-topic / Re: I got an email from the FBI!!! on: July 22, 2014, 04:47:26 PM

What do you think? Should I accept the congratulations?

I'm sure that this is fake message and very likely virus!
Just stop and think seriously are you really so important that FBI would send you any message.
In fact, i don't think that they will contact anybody in this way, it's funny, not serious Smiley
Just delete it and forget!

11271  Other / Politics & Society / Re: So, I work right below the "poverty line". on: July 22, 2014, 02:25:42 PM
$1,200 a month at 40 hours a week.

If I were to stop enjoying the company of my parents and go to my Airstream trailer on 2 acres of land with some chickens, would I suddenly turn into a victimized and oppressed liberal yelling for entitlements?

I am genuinely curious.

If you compare your financial situation with ''Third World'' countries, whith average salary less than 1 $ per week, you will find out that your salary is not bad at all.
Also, your living standard depends of your life habits, how you spend money, for what etc.
If you live in parent's home, don't spend to much you can live well, much better than more than 90 % of World population.
11272  Other / Off-topic / Re: How do you like this picture? on: July 22, 2014, 02:03:00 PM
I wonder how many people already got a branding or tattoo of something bitcoin related. May it be just the symbol, or even a QR-Code. People also demand strippers to get a tattoo with a QR-code of their Bitcoin address. I guess they've never been to a strip club before Cheesy Talking about mom's basement... (Which actually makes a good name for a strip-club!  Grin)

LOL this is really funny to read Smiley
I didn't know that, thank you for sharing.
Photo is really very interesting, good way to share what you like and enjoy.
11273  Other / Politics & Society / Re: World War III... Is it about to Happen? on: July 22, 2014, 01:32:41 PM
I think World WAR III already happened, right after WW II and we called it ''Cold War''.
We had luck, at that time, that this World War didn't become ''hot'' or nuclear war.
If this happened, our civilization will be ruined.

11274  Economy / Economics / Re: Dollar coming to an end on: July 22, 2014, 12:56:21 PM
The BRIC nations do hold vast reserves in dollars.
So they do have a vested interest in ensuring that the dollar does not decline.
The decline of the dollar, if it does happen, will happen very gradually.

Yes I agree with this.
I think not just dollar as currency but whole USA economy is loosing top position in world market and very soon China will replace USA on the top.
In the future I think that BRIC nations will lead the world because of their resources and human power.

11275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is my saviour! on: July 22, 2014, 12:39:01 PM
syscall girl:

    In MtGox did Satoshi san

    A stately blockchain decree:

Where Dew, the sacred soda, ran
    Through basements meaningless to man

    Down to a sunless hack.

So twice five yards of coolant found
    With cards and asics were girdled round;
And there were berries dry with unseemly smells,
    Where blemished many a heatstroke inducing rack;
And here were fleshlights grimy, unpaid bills,
    Enfolding dismal dicks of goonery.

But oh! that deep libertarianism which slanted
Down the forum athwart a fedora’d thing!
    A savage place! unholy disenchanted
As e’er beneath a neckbeard face was haunted
By woman wailing for her manchild-offspring!
And from this chasm, with ceaseless turmoil seething,
As if this girth in fast thick pants were breathing,
A choc’late wonderfall momently was forced:
    Amid whose swift half-intermitted burst
Bread fragments vaulted like disgusting hail,
Or lank hair beneath the flowbee’s flail:
And mid these dancing chunks at once and ever
It flung up momently the blasphem’d river.
Five miles meandering with a lazy motion
Through greasy fingers the blasphem’d river ran,
Then reached the basement meaingless to man,
    And sank impotent to a feckless ocean;
And ’mid impotence Satosh heard from lud
    Ancestral voices prophesying fud!

The shadow of Magic the Gath’ring
    Floated midway on the slops;

Where was heard the mingled whinging
    From the basement by teraflops.
It was a comedy of rare device,
A dismal gathering with shades of vice!

A camwhore with a magic wand
In a porntube once I saw:
    It was a underemployed maid
And with her Hitachi she played,
    Pandering to M:T Gathering.
    Could I forget within me
    Her sad bedside bong,
To such a deep despair ’twould kill me,

That with despair clear and wrong,
I would build that Mount of air,
That dismal Mount! that shame and vice!
And all who heard should see them there,
And all should cry, Beware! Beware!
His missing bytes, his wallet where!
Weave a warrant round him thrice,
And close your eyes with loli dread
For he on Mountain-dew hath fed,
And drunk the Bawlz of closing price.

Nice, you guys actually started this thread. This will be my motivation to watch football outside of the world/Euro cup. Any interesting tournaments to watch? National leagues? Or is there a break right now?

Soon national championship in Spain and England will start.
This will be really interesting to watch.
Real and Barcelona really did well this summer and bring many good players so they are stronger than ever.
I'm proud that from my small country- Croatia, 3 players will play in top 3 soccer clubs in Spain, Modric in Real, Rakitic in Barcelona and mandjukic in Athletic and they will play main roles in their clubs!

There will be always some kind of conspiracy theory about this event. It's always popular to doubt anything.
Nevertheless, this is one of the biggest achievements in the history of mankind!

It is! Especially if you consider how close it was to the invention of the plane! If we progressed with that kind of speed technologically, who knows where we could be today!

It's always question about finance and vision.
In the time of Moon Landing they had both (because of competition with USSR and Kennedy's vision).
Now, not just US gov. but whole world lucking both aspects needed for fast progress and development.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 17: Eight unanswered questions
http://edition.cnn.com/2014/07/21/world/europe/malaysia-airlines-unanswered-questions/index.html?hpt=wo_c1

2. Why would anyone target a passenger plane?

If indeed the rebels are behind the attack, they may have mistaken the plane for a Ukrainian military craft. In the past few months, the rebels have used surface-to-air missiles to bring down more than a dozen planes, including two transport aircraft, the U.S. Embassy in Kiev said.

Shortly after the crash, Igor Strelkov, the self-proclaimed defense minister of the Donetsk People's Republic, claimed on social media that the rebels had shot down a military transport plane. Those posts were later deleted once it turned out the plane was a civilian aircraft.

"It has the earmarks of a mistaken identification of an aircraft that they may have believed was Ukrainian," Arizona Sen. John McCain told MSNBC.

So, this is official info and reports until now, no speculation.
Please don't take this personal, l don't hate Russians or Russia, just sharing official info I have until now(If this info is wrong I'm also wrong, of course).
If official investigation prove that Russian in Ukraine or Putin are not guilty, despite this official info and statement from USA gov. I will gladly apologize here.
Until than, let's return to the official facts and info we have until now and wait for results from official investigation, ok?.
