Curious as to what the 1030 is doing for you in this rig? Seems like a good rig for doing some speculative mine and hold in-between mining eth. You gonna do any mining of the Octopus algo and hold a few coins in case they are more than a fad? Or any other coins? Gear prices are defiantly nuts right now. Newegg is doing a daily "Shuffle" for some hot items. It's essentially a raffle like Japan does for new console launches. The AMD 5600x and 5800x CPU's seem to be an option pretty regularly. They also throw in some GPU's mostly the higher priced AIB models. Goes live usually around 2pm to 5pm est. Get like 3-4 hours to purchase if "your selected. https://www.newegg.com/product-shuffleSite shows as expired till they load the new stuff for the daily shuffle. the 1030 runs the monitor. thread rippers do not have a built in gpu. Part of my mining subsidies my gpu sales. The 3090 evga 3987 will do about 120 mh about 120 x 7.33 = $8.80 a day the threadripper makes about $1.20 a day this rig will burn about $1.20 in power. So I clear $8.80 I have Feb, March,April,May or 120 Days of 10 cent power this is 120. so 120 x 8.80 = 1056 If things keep up this year the way I hope I will do better than that. Gear shortage will not end and I have the shot to sell that card I got for 2k at a premium. when and if that happens the 1030 is already in place running the monitor. If everything fucks up I have a cheap power place and will move the gear there and just mine it. The 3090 has a 5 year warranty.

I recently sold Six s9 hashboards on ebay.
Lets see how these sales work.
100 a board was the price.

Not sure anymore but so far so good for 2021.

Wow Phil that's one monster system! Puts mine to shame! Best of luck with that baby.
You have a good setup. This threadripper is beastly really powerful. Once I hook 🪝 up the 3090 it will be a lot of fun to play with it.

I know eventually someone is going to have to pay for all this stimulus money in addition to all the money being injected into the system via the "printing press" at the Fed. I've been anticipating inflation shooting up (and/or taxes), and I just noticed that the USPS raised the rates on some of their more expensive services (like Priority mail) and even $0.01 on postage for a post card. Seems like they've been raising rates quite a bit in the past couple of years, though you might not see it in the standard $0.55 first class mail stamp.
We're not getting all of this money for free, so expect prices to be rising not just for stamps but probably for a lot of things the various branches of government charge you for. Think of all the professionals who have to renew their licenses, all the driver's licenses, auto registration, etc. I don't know if there's any site to track that kind of econometric data, but it would be interesting to see if I'm right.
$8.45 it cost me to mail a small Flat Rate Priority Mail box. It was $8.30 just a few days ago. Crazy.
That's nothing. At least the USPS operates as a public service, not a for-profit business. This increase is in line with their usual increases which happen every year or two. It's also in line with the target inflation rate. In contrast, I'm easily paying 20-50% higher prices on many things I buy on Amazon vs. a few years ago. But I think the case of Amazon is especially egregious because they are jacking prices up after cornering lots of markets. I'm sure it's not purely a matter of costs or inflation. Not sure about that. Do you have a source? edit Did some research decided you are correct. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Postal_Service ... "The USPS is often mistaken for a state-owned enterprise or government-owned corporation (e.g., Amtrak) because it operates much like a business. It is, however, an "establishment of the executive branch of the Government of the United States", (39 U.S.C. § 201) as it is controlled by presidential appointees and the postmaster general. As a government agency, it has many special privileges, including sovereign immunity, eminent domain powers, powers to negotiate postal treaties with foreign nations, and an exclusive legal right to deliver first-class and third-class mail. Indeed, in 2004, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in a unanimous decision “The Postal Service is not subject to antitrust liability. In both form and function, it is not a separate antitrust person from the United States but is part of the Government, and so is not controlled by the antitrust laws" such as the Sherman Antitrust Act.[89] Unlike a state-owned enterprise, the USPS lacks a transparent ownership structure and isn't subject to standard rules and norms that apply to commercial entities. The USPS also lacks commercial discretion and control.[90] The U.S. Supreme Court has also upheld the USPS's statutory monopoly on access to letter boxes against a First Amendment freedom of speech challenge; it thus remains illegal in the U.S. for anyone, other than the employees and agents of the USPS, to deliver mailpieces to letter boxes marked "U.S. Mail".[91] The Postal Service also has a Mailers' Technical Advisory Committee and local Postal Customer Councils, which are advisory and primarily involve business customers.[92]" ...

So ive finally built my rig with those 3080 cards ive bought and noticed it generates plenty of noise and heat, is it possible to store it in an enclosed balcony, it has plastic windows on 2 sides, a concrete wall from one side and a plastic door for entrance, theres no way any rain can reach it, but what about condense and moisture? Is that a possibility. With the heat it produces im pretty certain it would make the balcony dry and warm and since outside nowadays its either below 0 or just a bit above i think it would keep the rig pretty cool.
To summ things up, im asking if a rig could be stored in an enclosed balcony without exposing moisture to it. Willing to provide photos of the balcony if needed.
Side question on a different topic, would a usb antenna work for mining if i wanted to switch from ethernet to wifi, need to use less cables if id put the rig in the balcony.
give me a minute I will find amazon wireless usb link . as for condensation you will need to check rig a lot. it may happen. this is a good product for wireless rig https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085D7XSCC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AMAVFF3RSV73W&psc=1

Nice we just stayed in the top 27. Was afraid my birthday could end the streak. Now I am hoping it becomes a rally day marker ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) The 28th we go to 32k - - - - - edit - - we crossed 32k need to hold it.the 29th we go to 34k the 30th we go to 36k the 31st we top at 38k we crack 40 k on feb 1st and then of course it gets into a repetitive loop 🔁 on feb 2 cause honey badger 🦡 likes the movie ground hog’s day. after five or six days right near 40k. we hit the new alltime high on feb 8 or 9 47k

hasnt hash traditionally followed price and not price followed hash?
Yes, if we see eth from 230 to 480 usd, bull pattern. When we see 480 to 310 usd, bear pattern, and we still see the hashrate increasing even with a lower price that means price will likely follow next few days. The more hashrate, the more competition, less likely mined coins will be dumped, increasing the price. The interesting thing, eth price is getting support faster than I thought it would be after a price crash like that and it shows there are not many sellers at that price range. That is very bullish. I guess at 700 plus will be the resistance, if eth bulls get through that then we might see 1000 usd again. The price is not back at 400 usd yet because there are people who think bitcoin will still crash to 9600 again to fill that magical cme gap. That might have been filled already. Although is close to that price point, whales dont want to go to 500 usd and then back to 350 usd, so if that gap was not filled then it will be filled before it moves upwards. So there is a chance eth will still crash to 300 ~ 320 and bitcoin to 9600 and then we move to 12k bitcoin and 450 ~ 500 usd eth. Good call here. I added a lot of gear in the July to October timeline.

I have newer avalon the a1041 and the a1066
I had an a1066 psu die. So far 110 days lost waiting for a new psu.
I should get on next week.
If it were an s9 psu or a721 or a841 or a921 I would have switched in a new one.
new gear has these bespoke psu’s and it is extremely annoying to deal with.

And it shows GDDR6x on 3080 & 3090 can reach 110C when mining Eth. Yikes!
which = death to the cards in under 1 year at those temps. After seeing the readings I down clocked all my 3080 units Core MHz: 20 Memory MHz: 1100 Power Limit (watt): 200 Target Temperature ℃: 65 Minimum Fan speed %: 77

Do not buy any old ones.
buy amd
5500 8gb
5600 6gb. weakest choice due to 6gb but if you get it cheap buy it.
5700 8gb
6800 xt 16gb
6900 xt 16gb overkill
with or with out the xt
buy
nvidia 3060ti 8gb 3070. 8gb 3080. 10gb
3090. 24gb over kill
I would buy any of the above if I can get them cheaply
these are my least favorite to buy. the amd 6900 xt the nvidia 3090
but If I can get any of the above at proper pricing I would buy 2-3k worth

yes grab those 821's they are decent gear. good price. they use 100 watts a th
so 11 of them is about 100th and uses 240kwatts at day
240 x 2.5 = 6 dollars a day in power
100 x .1945 = 19.45 dollar a day in earnings
13.45 profit
cost is 11 x 66.54 = 731.94 for the miners. not sure if you get psu's
the guy I hooked you up with is 30 for a real quality psu.
so if you are 732/13.45 = 55 days
if you need the psu's
1110/13.45 = 83 days
Not sure show much you are sinking into it but your margins are decent.
Newer gear costs $$
Newer gear has a second issue all the psu's are bespoke ie they must be a perfect match or they do not work.
the Avalon 821's do not have this issue. any 1600 watt or larger 12 volt psu should be good.

I tried to put a spare battery on with no luck. But after posting this I've seen that not only the configs are not saved but the date/hour are also reset. So... maybe the spare battery is also dead. Ordered a new pack of batteries and it should arrive today. I'll try them and come back here to report.
Your spare battery is dead or expired -snip- talking about spares... spare riser, space cable, spare battery. if you troubleshoot and confirmed that a certain "stuff" is dead/with issues/problematic. throw them away, why? because in the future when you troubleshoot again, you might think that "dead/with issues/problematic" stuff is a "spare" LOL at a certain future headache hehe Yeah I just tossed six eth cables from the farm.

I have some DOGE, received from faucets. Not much just around 500.
After the increase in the transaction fees of BTC, I have thought of converting my BTC and LTC to DOGE for the transactions and keep them as DOGE. On the second thought, I thought of converting my DOGE to LTC and keep.
I have gone through some articles about DOGE's future price and I got some 50-50 opinions. I discussed with my friend and he suggested me to hold till mid-2021, I can't say why till mid-2021.
It's true that many sites have started accepting DOGE, thus it is getting popular so there is a chance that the price may increase. Still, my knowledge says there are certain loopholes like there is no upper limit in mining DOGE and it is still much easier to mine compared to others. In short, the demand & cost curve is a bit of a failure here. Though one can't say what might happen after 20 years.
Here I want some expert advice on this. Whether it is a good idea to convert and hold or keep my DOGE reserve constant.
500 doge is 5 dollars 💵 so down side is if you hold it and it crashes it is worthless you lose five dollars. upside is if it goes to 1 dollar you have 500 bucks. I would buy 9500 in doge bringing me to 10,000 if i was you. I would then ignore it until it became 10 cents a coin.

The thing that used to annoy me most about conventional corporate wage-slavery was the 9-5 hours, specifically the 9 part. We all know that some people are morning people, some are night owls. I'm definitely the latter. No less productive, just more productive in the evening than mornings. Yet employers insist that everyone starts at 09.00. There was hardly any point me starting work at that time, I had no ability to focus until at least 12.00. And just when my focus was starting to really come together at 17.30, it was time to go home. Ridiculous working system reflecting a bygone era
And why is it always seen as a virtue to be a morning person, yet it's assumed that night owls just sit around watching TV or playing video games late into the night?
So true. I could have written your comment word for word, since I have also lived in that corporate world for only a short bit, for obvious reasons. And busy-ness - why is that seen as a virtue? There seems to be an underlying assumption that the busier a person is, the more virtuous they are.
One of the most annoying things of that corporate environment was the value placed on the perception of looking busy rather than of doing actual work. ... A friend would recount to me of the years of lay offs at his employers (a large hardware, cell phone, tech co.), where the majority of those getting laid off were the engineers that worked non-stop, and so didn't have time to speak up and be noticed. While the ones that didn't get the boot were those that spoke up and got noticed by the managers, but weren't necessarily the ones doing the heavy lifting. ... (part of the internal policy was to lay off 10%, but they hired all the time, this was thought to keep workers on there best behavior, instead it created bad blood) ... After years of this, the quality of the product, and the lack of new product suffered. All the while with the those at the top not understanding what had happened. (my btc FU fund has come in handy these past few months, lol) Why is so little value attached to making time to do nothing, to think, to slow down and to ponder the big questions?
I have taken notice of the value of quiet time to ponder and do nothing. It took years to notice this something that I was doing all the time, but now I take advantage of it to solve complex problems. While working on large data structures, or complex digital/analog circuits, if I come across a tough obstacle, I set it aside for later. ... Then I go for a walk, or just sit and find a book to read, or tinker with something else. In a few hours the solutions to the tough complex problem come pouring in. I usually write them down on paper as quickly as possible so as not to forget. Thus, I have learned how to find solutions to some tough engineering problems with zero effort, I just let the subconscious do all the work. I apply this every now and then.I sometimes do a review of a problem right before I fall asleep. I describe it to my self and the universe and tell the universe As I am dozing off wake me up when you figured this out. Your bolded idea was worth 6 merits. you are now a full member.
