11381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ZCash added on AlphaBay on July 1st on: June 27, 2017, 09:19:41 AM
Strange that there is no reaction on Zcash since the news 6 weeks ago... I was almost excited when I saw the thread title and looked at Zcash (it doesn't seem to do very much, does it?). What do you think? Worth the buy? 1 July is only a few days away.
11382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EOS - Asynchronous Smart Contract Platform - (Dan Larimer of Bitshares/Steem) on: June 27, 2017, 07:45:45 AM

I just checked the above address it has now USD 12,5 million.

If this stays the same for this distribution round of 200 million tokens the marketcap will already be USD 62,5 million.

I think it will be beneficial to wait for later rounds if the initial hype and investment frenzy calms down.

Better wait for site to load properly to ensure that is the correct address. If it is, then yeah, I think we better wait for the upcoming rounds (there's so many, hundreds) before you take your decision. After all, there is supposedly no incentive for "Early birds", so it only makes sense not to invest now.
11383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EOS - Asynchronous Smart Contract Platform - (Dan Larimer of Bitshares/Steem) on: June 26, 2017, 01:40:19 PM
OK, so it looks like it is not me alone. I thought my IP was not working so I changed to a fresh one and it still took forever to load (and is not fully loaded). Seems they did not prepare for this. This is what happens when you try to launch an ICO and say "fair distribution".
11384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Why exchanges have almost the same price? on: June 26, 2017, 01:33:33 PM
If you really want to see if this is true, try looking at exchanges in China, South Korea, Japan and India. Compare it to Poloniex and the other major US/Europe exchangers and you will realise they are not almost the same price. On some trading days (usually spikes or falls) you can see even more than $500 difference.
11385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EOS - Asynchronous Smart Contract Platform - (Dan Larimer of Bitshares/Steem) on: June 26, 2017, 05:31:00 AM
Looks like someone got inspired by Bancor and used "asynchronous"... if you think about it, this type of techno speak is just unnecessary. What platform runs synchronous smart contracts anyway? I'm reading EOS and am just confused about what actually makes them special, except that they have a wonderful plan to keep funded for 1 year.
11386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PLEASE SIGN THE AMAZON BTC PETITION on: June 25, 2017, 09:23:24 PM
These type of petitions will not have the desired effects (there's a lot of research to show the limited impact of petitions in commercial world). I still signed it of course, but I will next wonder if Amazon's acceptance will do anything for Bitcoin. Didn't Microsoft accept Bitcoin? Even Paypal at one point. And it didn't do much for adoption, did it?
11387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy more bitcoin or wait for August 1st? on: June 25, 2017, 04:04:03 PM
Okay let's look at 1 August: 5 weeks from now.
Let's look at today's USD price: 2,550.

Now is not an absolutely bad time to buy, because in 5 weeks, you can bet it will touch 2,900 again. OR it drops to 2,000 but after 1 August you can bet it will go back to 2,500.

So you either make money or are back. Either way, not a bad time now.
11388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Ethereum Mining NoDevFee v5.5 on: June 25, 2017, 08:20:34 AM
Thank you for making this. I had no idea it was possible and am actually considering mining ETH now since a few others are trying with good results. Would anyone be able to share the savings they have made in June using this? I only ask to see if it will be worth the extra work setting this up.
11389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Charlie Lee working hard on LTC right now? Ofc not on: June 25, 2017, 08:13:48 AM
Why should peoople be concerned whether he is working hard or not? Litecoin does not depend on him alone. If it developed the way it did before he focused on it full time, it can even work better or at minimum the same now. There's no problems for any one who is developing to do as they wish. We are just users.
11390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XVG] Verge - Speculation & Discussion on: June 24, 2017, 04:10:33 PM
Good to see almost 150 Sats again.  Grin
The bi-weekly Verge pump. Nothing to see here.

Hello all, okay I am somewhat interested to get some XVG... but instead of going through all the exchanges, is there anyone who would like to sell me some XVG at 100 satoshi? Or would you tell me the best place to get it at that rate? Let's say at least 1,000?
11391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Wallets.. urgh wallets :( on: June 24, 2017, 03:49:04 PM
Guys sorry to ask a newb question, but is there a secure wallet that can hold majority of coins?

If not, can I ask the reason why? I would be happy to pay $5 a month for a decent wallet that could do this.

Also whats the deal with syncing wallets. I have heard this can take DAYS nevermind hours!

To be honest with all the annoyances with wallets sometimes i feel its easier to just keep coins on the exchanges even know there's a risk of being hacked

I use myetherwallet web site and it's very safe. You're holding your private key and nobody knows it. Never use jaxx for example. Never trust exchange wallets to store your coins in long term.

No good reason to thrash Jaxx. It's the solution that OP is asking for (not myetherwallet as you suggest) and you're in complete control of your own keys too.

@OP: You need a lightweight wallet that only syncs your balance, and not downloads entire blockchains. Jaxx and Exodus are like good examples and store many alts as well.
11392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ICO ICO ICO ICO ICO everywhere ICO BUBBLE? on: June 23, 2017, 07:55:20 PM
I've been through the NXT asset bubble - on a smaller scale but very similar.
I realized a lot of dynamics, that I wasn't aware of at the start. Especially noobs won't know. For example: If you buy ICO shares, they will be denominated in Ether, but that's deceiving. It's not Ether anymore. You sold a crypto and you bought a company. 99% of all companies will grow slower than cryptos will. You essentially set your money on a slower horse.

Next one: ICO-companies must sell their Ether. One of them just got $200 million? Well, that will essentially create a $200 million sell order of Ethers. So if they do, you just hurt the crypto you like. If they don't, then you just invested in an badly led and irresponsible company. Because should Ether fall, they would lose their funds and they can't operate anymore.

This might not be the moment yet, but at some point a huge downward dynamic will start. Smart companies will sell. Users will notice the price drop - sell the Ether they have left.
Dumb companies notice what's cooking - they start to sell to save what they have left. Now users get panicky - but all their funds are locked up. They want to flee Ether, but can't. They panic-sell assets. Lots of companies will fail - either they have no funds anymore, or their tokens are junk stocks now. Possible promised payoffs of the projects are often years away.

A lot of misery awaits. I just hope it won't hurt the crypto space in general too much.

Don't worry too much... I read the old posts in here and the pattern was similar on Bitcoin, ICOs and pumps and dumps. These are all terms used in the past, and they hurt a lot of people. The pattern is only repeating, but if the coin is strong, it will recover.
11393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ether wallet can store other altcoins as well..i dont understand on: June 23, 2017, 01:47:13 PM
ETH is not the only blockchain to be able to do that, though as posters have said, more accurately that tokens are issued on the blockchains, not cryptocurrencies. You can see in my signature, one project that will do it this way, on the Bitcoin blockchain.
11394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt coins worth buying on: June 23, 2017, 01:42:23 PM
Almost anyone who recommended any alt six months ago can now claim to be an expert... since the majority of major and minor alts at least doubled in USD price. The popular things are these tokens also... I don't know if they truly qualify as alts. People don't want to wait any longer, just gamble on an ICO and sell off their tokens.
11395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CrowdSale Live]🌟🌟🌟🌟 NVO Decentralized Exchange | Multi Wallet 🌟🌟🌟🌟 on: June 23, 2017, 11:32:01 AM
Saw an ad for NVO on CoinGecko and I wanted to come learn about it, but I am seeing lots of bad talk here. Is this project doing good, is it a good idea to buy into the crowdsale? Are there issues going on?

There's a lot of bad talk on any thread. That is the result (or purpose?) of decentralised democracy haha. But yes, project is doing good of course with all the issues that is normal for any new project. See for yourself, the crowdsale is almost $4 million total now (from combined crypto value).
11396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Last day I got ETH from unknow into my coinbase account? I withdraw them now on: June 23, 2017, 07:21:35 AM
Basic human decency means you would have alerted coinbase about it. But then I guess we know where you stand with basic human decency:)

I read about miners being nice to return accidental fees. Maybe coinbase users can be as nice?
11397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Using altcoins to avoid bitcoin transaction fees? on: June 22, 2017, 03:47:27 PM
I wish I had a lot of alts so I could consider using this. Even with all the booming prices, my alt balances are still very low. Within sites, this is easier and almost instant if the person receiving also has an account there. But if anyone takes payment in alts, they'll ask for a small fee anyway to cover exchange fees. So you end up with the same cost.
11398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum: So much hype but it can't even process as many transactions as Bitcoin on: June 22, 2017, 10:51:19 AM
While waiting for Spoetnik to write his comment, all I want to say that Eth is a quick flash in the pan with several mistakes and issues while Bitcoin at least actually has real world usage.

I can't see Eth not falling hard eventually.

This isn't even such a heavy load and yeah, ETH just breaks. At least as bloated and struggling Bitcoin network gets, txs still push through and they are ways to fix it after spending. ETH just breaks...

Spoetnik must be in a forgiving mood or has something going on this weekend to make him happy.
11399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ICO ICO ICO ICO ICO everywhere ICO BUBBLE? on: June 22, 2017, 09:48:03 AM

You are definitely correct. There is an ICO bubble, maybe specifically an ETH ICO bubble even.

Some of you are saying the bubble popping will bring down other alts too and I believe this is correct too.

I layered the Hofstra Bubble chart over ETH/USD today and a crash is surely imminent - look here: http://populicapital.com/website-launch-and-ethereum-correction/

But can we really apply the same prediction of patterns to ETH or any other alt? Historical analysis is not long enough... 5 years maximum? That is nothing, so we can only predict if we assume it follows the same pattern as others with historical basis.
11400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DECENT Announcement - Decentralising media publishing on: June 22, 2017, 07:58:34 AM
Thanks for the update, your project is intriguing, and looks like you may need some talented writers to send more of the good word and updates on your behalf.  I happen to know a gal.
I think it is not necessary for you to offer reliable writers, and surely they have writers that exceed their reliability, from your acquaintance ...

You probably don't get her drift, and there's nothing wrong with putting an offer out there. I think projects understand that there is no such thing as "too many people doing marketing" or rather "too much marketing".
