1141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bold step to invest my fiat in Bitcoin on: August 05, 2023, 11:44:30 PM
So everyone should join me and celebrate this purchase as it went through without any stress and please help me show my image for other viewers as my rank prohibits me to

https://i.imgur.com/NiPto8D.jpeg
You know, I was wondering what part of the world you might hail from to have been surrounded by so many bitcoin accepting merchants as chanted in the OP and that drove me towards viewing your uploaded image in OP to see which country currency notation comes up and you can imagine how surprised I was to have seen the Nigerian Naira sign pop right up!

Well, Nigeria is a very big nation both by land mass and population so I can’t say for sure what part that is so pro bitcoin or pro cryptocurrency to have bitcoin merchants lying all around but, am yet to meet one and experiment. Still, it is nice that you by some means arrived here and have taken a bold move to buy some coins to hodl, I hope you don’t get to be demotivated and understand that it’s not always going to be about gains.
1142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Be rich sheeple or free people, what's your choice? on: August 05, 2023, 11:34:44 PM
I was at the beach after having my evening half rack, same boring night walk scavenging for forgotten or used fleshlights and I was thinking, what if instead of one of those magic toys I get my macho pride stuck in a genie bottle? But after hitting the genie so hard in his head probably he will only be able to grant me one wish, and that on shitty conditions, what if I asked him to make me richer then Satoshi but I'd have to choose:

You’ll be better off picking the pace on your scavenging the beach for forgotten flashlights as you wouldn’t be getting any stocked up genie soon. Don’t want to spoil the fun but, I stick to what is real and wouldn’t want to dig in to the legend of the arid lands just yet.

A question, for you though;
Just how do you get to know Satoshi is rich?

On the other hand, I think instead of having all these wishes rain on the world, I’ll prefer the natural order of things to take its course as every shift in the evolutionary trend has got some unwanted effects to balance it up in time. Bitcoin is doing just fine with the rest of the world gradually adopting it individually while it increases in value.
1143  Other / Meta / Re: Search function stuck in pre 2020? on: August 05, 2023, 09:44:31 AM
The forum or even Google search engine isn’t something I like to use many times but, it’s got it all packed somehow with Google search engine embedded on forum software and a forum only search function that goes the length to narrow things down based on preferences as to posted by user and match word to word/or just matching words in search.

It’s also of note as I did just now that on default, the search spans through a lengthy period of which, part of that is due to the informations contained on Google as the forum is only about a decade and few years of age. The search on the other hand is by default set between 0-9999 days of age (over 27years) and that’s well above how long the forum has been around and that does a lot to the age long information you might be getting based on how popular they are in between other criterion for selection.

I think playing around with these functions could help in narrowing things down but still, it’s search results display or presentation could be improved.
1144  Other / Meta / Re: Ignore user confirmation before ignoring on: August 05, 2023, 09:24:35 AM
This is common to me, I will just see an user that I did not ignore but ignored. I do not know why this is like that. Not frequent but I do see it very well.

Is any other user noticing this?
Oh, yeah!
I have been met with this several times when strolling the forum for some good read on user’s comments and it’s always surprising. Maybe one day I might end up ignoring Theymos or the gigs that run the forum by the slip of a finger, lol… of course am kidding but yeah, that’s how it all happens. Just the slip of a finger and the deed is done.

A confirmation message would be in order or serve some reminder as this bridges the gap between error and intentional in this affair of ignore and unignoring of users. It’s a common error most of all when you’re accessing the forum on a mobile device.

I have a good friend suggest shifting the ignore button from the residing spot but, I think this won’t be a best solution though. Your fingers have got a wide range to slide and could still do that. Besides, you find yourself doing either of the activities such as quoting, meriting or numbering of a post more than you might want to view a user’s profile. Having to remove it from its current spot would mean placing it close to any of the above listed to ensure it continues to denote a user and that could create room for more errors.

A confirmation request would be in other to ensure the flow of information. Still, we can always unignore when discovered.
1145  Other / Meta / Re: Request: New Local Board for Pakistan (Urdu) on: August 05, 2023, 09:13:38 AM
I have seen this thread a couple of times but was repelled based on the controversy I was met with when relating Nigerians with the similar and if not better statement. I don’t want to stress on that no more but, I’ll like to say the forum remains an open space for individual qualifications and the true to a quantifiable statement such as in OP when dissatisfied with could lead to delays, delays I say and not denial.

Your congratulations is received in its wholesomeness and it is my wish for the good people of Pakistan to have their way to speak and discuss their home in the Pakistani national language some day on the forum.

I’lll as well advise that, you tend particularly to your request thread aside from just bumping it regularly as OP images have been met with some poxxy error image problems. If you can’t retrieve them images or affix something to the spot, you can get it out in its entire as it makes the thread less appreciated.

Still a good move for you guys. Keep being motivated.
1146  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What happens if all forum users exhaust their Smerits? on: August 04, 2023, 06:04:17 PM
Smerits are obtained when a user merits you and you receive half of that merit as Smerit, which you can also send out.  If that is how merit and Smerit function, what happens when everyone in the forum distributes all of their Smerits? Because, as a result of this process, the Smerits will one day be exhausted by everyone. But the merit distribution system continues to function; how is this possible?
While bitcoin is limited, merits and emerita are of the forum and can be generated at will by Theymos. This makes it almost in possible of exhaustion. On a monthly bases, new merits are pumped into the system by Theymos through merit sources to continue a diminishing circle as described in OP. You could tell, we don’t have a definite amount of merit in the forum for any two consecutive months.

Joining the forum in early March of this year was one of the most significant accomplishments I believe I've accomplished in my life. Prior to then, I knew very little about cryptocurrencies and couldn't tell the difference between bitcoin and cryptocurrency. I look for other coins online and on exchanges, and I register with them and purchase different coins in the hopes that my earnings would increase quickly.
If as little as joining the forum would count for a significant accomplishment, I think the word would seize to have a lot of meaning. I think the real accomplishment here is in what you’ve gained since you joined up, both in knowledge, coins and the many scams you must have accumulated over the time spent on the forum. On these, I can say your doing just fine.
1147  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scammers are getting innovative. on: August 04, 2023, 03:06:32 PM

That’s entirely new to me, not the attempt but the technique at play. Anyone with a mindset for huge pay and a fast securing of opportunity might fall for this kind of scam. They play the fast game of holding you on the phone so you don’t have the time to do any form of evaluation on them and with the fact that your been deceived to be speaking with an authority or a well positioned person, time becomes of the essence but hey,
You’re sort out for because of the values you provide and as such, you show your quality as well by going through the details and the organization giving you some time to do this doesn’t hurt.

When it’s speedy, you question the process. It might save you from any rushed attempt.
Thanks for sharing as this needed some exposure.
1148  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: From Moonshots to BTC Maxi - Share Your Crypto Journey on: August 04, 2023, 02:31:10 PM
I am no stranger in these waters. Not like bitcoin wasn’t my first of course it was my very first and I still prefer sticking to it but like you called it, a moonshot. I tried taking a page out of some of the altcoins out there following my evaluations that it was bound to boom.
Unfortunately, you never can be too sure with cryptocurrencies and it even gets worst with altcoins. You end up looking at your coin gets liquidated to a point where, trying to withdraw it as a means of cutting your lose comes with zero effect.

Series of these events have made me stick to bitcoin where the disappointments are way less and hodling for a long term haven’t been much of a problem for me. Still, I don’t consider myself a bitcoin maxi. I just use it the way I perceive it and the prevailing circumstance of the time.
1149  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Responsibilities of hierarchy in the forum on: August 04, 2023, 02:14:28 PM
<snipe>
I don’t know who invited you but, you’re as much a responsibility to the person as he chooses to let you. I think most times users are invited into the forum, it’s out of their good will and interest on your well being yo be part of a new innovation and as such, it becomes a matter of how responsive you are and to the individual on how your future on the forum goes.

I’ll also like to note that, learning doesn’t involve you posting or trying to teach what you’re not well informed about. That’s how rumors are spread and in turn, confusion.
If you’ve got some good or authentic information, you share it. Other than that, asking questions either by creating a thread of a symmetric work load and good content is advised. Or
You could resolve to posting your questions on a related thread of which, most likely exists on the forum.

If your posts are being read,
I wonder why you took the time to make this one if it could be that they are not being read. Of course your posts are been read and even scanned for plagiarism when it appears suspicious. Make no mistake, you would be fished out anytime.

I think offenders still gets punished on the forum and so, don’t neglect the rules.
1150  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Discuss on: August 04, 2023, 02:03:59 PM
1- Is wallet have to do something with transaction speed? i have a trust wallet ( but in another topic that i open, someone says that I can pick a high fee to make it fast but there isn't )
You just didn’t get what the person advised but then, wallet have got nothing to do with the speed of your initiated transaction. The most wallets can do for you is to hodl your coins and then, the level of security your coin gets is up to how private you keep your security details.

Quote
2 - is their BTC staking? i saw some website offering that but mostly are scam so i prefer someone from here tell me
I think bitcoin has got just a good enough liquidity to operate with and as such, sites offering staking options could be as well luring you into something you might not benefit from in the long run. Staking isn’t the way no more for bitcoin and your better not looking out for small gains and just hodl on non custodial wallet till the bullrun comes.

3 - what is the best wallet for Bitcoin
For most, I think Electrum but, you could as well sort options with cold storage for long term hodlings and of a huge amount.
1151  Economy / Economics / Re: Entrepreneurship and women on: August 03, 2023, 11:25:42 PM
More women in entrepreneur can really help to grow the economy. In some businesses, women are even more likely to do well than men. For example, a female barber in my street do make more sale than even the male. If ones country does not go against this..., I don't see any reason why more women shouldn't engage in businesses.

Many women are successful in business because usually women can focus on goals, when they have a plan to build a business they are usually more prepared to take risks, it is proven that more and more world millionaires come from women.
Are you sure about this?
I don’t want to compare between them both or something but, arguably it could be said that some female millionaires found their way to making waves as millionaires through court and divorce papers.

Still, women are a great gender and I agree on the part where they’ve got the ability to be focused on a goal not until and over powering male figure diverts there attention but, there is so much a woman can archive in a focused start. They’ve got the brains and heart for it and when put into good use, a woman can equal a man.

Men just have a sense of devotion to everything that comes after them which makes failure not to be an option most times. It’s a DNA thing and it grows with you, the pressure you’ve got to manage, family, self and societal initiated. A lot to manage makes you precise in your steps and achievements.
1152  Economy / Economics / Re: Reason why you will never become rich on: August 03, 2023, 11:18:13 PM
Yes, incorporate yourself to people who are good in doing business can help you to establish yours, with so many factors that can affect you to become wealthy you need some fresh ideas from people who already doing it in advance, I mean people who already find their ways to succeed, it's not a guarantee but with basic ideas you will be able to adjust yourself and find one that fits with your personality.

Becoming rich is not for everyone, either with determination and hard work or some sort of luck that backs you up, yo'll be able to find that way if you are keen and you are doing your best to succeed.
On the point where you mentioned that, becoming rich isn’t something for everyone; I am wondering why the hell not! Like is there an under written rule that forbids certain people or group from being any rich? Surely, I question the existence of any but, over time I’ve also heard of people who seem to have sort out for wealth haven’t tried several means and often ends up failing. Even the once rich once goes broke and poor at times. They had all the experience to run a business and did great but, all of a sudden, they find themselves failing in business.

On this, you start to hear fray and diabolical things that could relate. I for one don’t do much believe there could turn any effect from these unseen forces but, could it actually be a course to some bad business or investment choices.
1153  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are CEX Deposit-to-list campaigns recommendable for newbies? on: August 02, 2023, 11:39:55 PM
Seeing several CEX events that encourage investors to  participate in deposit to list events makes me wonder what's in it for the exchanges and how they manage to end up not listing the tokens in some instances.
Their intention is quite clear. Get as many people as possible to register for the exchange, pass KYC and make deposits that leads to increased trade volumes which translated to increased trading fees. It's always about just profits

It’s that simple.
The term is simply business. As much as they have an integrity to keep, that includes unlisting a coin if found out to be a scam coin or token, in the days that they are not or have promises on them, the brains behind the project could as well pay the fee yo depict there seriousness and intentions for the coin to go public as would be the case and the exchange would benefit as well from the traffic the new project would bring.

Mind you, not all who happen to have come aboard the exchange because of the project would leave should the project go south. Whichever way it turns for the project, the exchange would still have some means to profit.

It’s left for individual investors to be on the look out for the projects they wish or hope to invest in and what exchange that defends or suits there interest.
1154  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin Studies for Naija Universities on: August 02, 2023, 11:24:40 PM
Well, some universities for abroad don already tap into this trend and don start to offer courses wey relate to Bitcoin and blockchain technology.

So, the question be say wether make we push for the inclusion of Bitcoin courses for Nigerian universities?  I wan hear una thoughts, suggestions, and contributions on this matter!
If you tell me say, some schools for the obodo abroad don adopt blockchain technology put for there curriculum as blockchain no dey subjected to cryptocurrency alone, that one I go agree with you but to say, them dey teach am as a course, e go be say na watin I never really check on or put eye to see but, be rest assured say if you put references or source way I fit verify this thing, I go look am up.

I no know how you imagine am but, e go dey very hard as e be now say any school within we naija or around the world cef go wan put bitcoin directly for there curriculum. That na because, government no really support am as e be and how you wan carry watin government no back go dey teach for there schools, dey teach them supposedly leaders of tomorrow… na wahala be that o.

On the inclusion matter way you dey yan, how that one wan for happen.
1155  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Help Your Brodas/Sistas Stand Strong!!! on: August 02, 2023, 11:07:19 PM
I no bin really wan give in to watin OP Dey talk but as I begin read, I con dey fine strains way interest me and if you check am, e point out small something way I feel say, e no bad if you reason am. Most of us here and not only within our naija but even for other locale dem don dey practice am since but, na on low key and that na,

Not to bad mouth your person if u no ft help am make ground for soft for ram

Another important talk way e bring cum out be say,
Make we no dey back bite person. I no know if this one don happen before but, e sure me die say either on forum or not, watin you no fit talk for front, you no suppose even talk am at all. E make you less than a person if anybody dey behave like that. Abeg, make we nobody reason am.

Another thing I go like add be say, make we try dey see correction as correction. Make person no con Dey think say, person dey fight am because them tell you word way you no like. E you know watin good, try do am and avoid watin go make person talk say you too dey do. Especially for matter way don come up before. Make we try understand say, anything way one person do, e fit get immediate effect on the person but, e dey reflect the community as well.

Una well done!
1156  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Which example Dem dey set for our next generation? on: August 02, 2023, 10:51:54 PM
As we Nigerians sabi, this yahoo yahoo wey our youth don turn to daily work don dey too much. Many of us get brothers or even sisters wey dey into this matter, and I no think say dem go stop anytime soon.
Like person don already relate for you, this sort of generalization no go well. No be say the people way Dey into the thing no be person pikin, brothers or sisters but, some of us feel insulted when you put an like that especially, when e happen say e no be as you talk for our end. Make we try no Dey generalize matter like that. Na things like this dey make these Oyibo people believe say our naija people na 419 or wayo people and if you leave am like that without saying anything, e go stick. Meanwhile, you and me know say, na just some people dey spoil the good name and e be like that for every country. E no get where bad people no dey and e even worst for outside pass watin we dey see for here.

Quote
and I no go blame dem well well because our government no dey organized at all. I go still blame some parents wey no fit guide their pikin well and con leave dem to do bad things, some even dey force them into the matter because of their personal gain.
Na this I no go blame them make matter cast o. Blame them if you must because, there are other options and no be only them dey go through one or two but, na the life then chose, the way them chose to escape their own.
1157  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading as a newbie? on: August 02, 2023, 02:17:30 PM
I am thinking of buying coins that are 15% or more down and then selling once they pump 10% and move onto the next one that is 15% down and then again sell at 10% profit and just keep repeating
It’s way much of an ambitious plan for a beginner.
The good news is, you’ve got a plan and trading with a plan is always a good way for a start, since you’ve hit a defined point where you would be satisfied with the profits you’ve got and that would in turn put your greed in check.
One fault in your plans though, you didn’t consider the possibility of loosing, even as a beginner of which you’re bound to make a lot of mistakes with no experience to help. As a beginner, you’re most likely going to have more loses than profits. Your only asylum would be you, trying out your practice trading days on a demo app.
That way, you can build certain approaches towards trading the market and do your best to keep to it. It’s what would save you from loses.
1158  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Wetin you for do as a Nigerian? on: August 01, 2023, 11:58:32 PM

Remember for Nigeria wey we dey people dey kill thief and nothing police dey do about the matter.
<snipe>
Bro, e be like you for try edit that your comment o. The kpai their idea no be my idea, na person I quote but, your editing done turn am like my words. I no buy the idea of to kpai thief just like that shah, make after story no con dey gor irreversible events like death. Try check am later shah.

1159  Other / Archival / Re: How to manage bitcoin correctly? on: August 01, 2023, 11:14:55 PM
When BTC reached $69000. I didn't choose to sell it. but the current price of Bitcoin dropped to less than $30000. Is it the most reasonable choice to sell BTC now and turn your attention to other investments? I hope to get some good suggestions.
What do your good reasonings tell you?

Remember, one principle that guides bitcoin investments or trading at most of that;
You buy when the market is low or rising and sell when it's high.

Considering where the market is now and that be $29.k from an ATH at $69k, if your to go by that principle, you would find the idea of selling now to be out of place. Bitcoin is down now from the current ATH,  yigvemissed the chance to sell and what you supikd be doing now is buying with DCA strategy rather than selling. Selling would mean your losing even though you would be selling to invest in a different commodity.  No investment is promising and as such, you could still get to lose.

The best for you would be to stick with what you know, what's at hand and before come next bullrun, you might get that chnace to sell if that be your plan towards your hodlings.
1160  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Certified Bitcoin Professional on: August 01, 2023, 10:38:17 PM
My take on this one is that if you've got a lot of spare money and you want to get into this, it's just all about satisfaction and getting the certificate unless you want to apply for jobs related to Bitcoin and related to blockchain technology.
Two questions come to mind here. First is whether companies hiring "blockchain experts" require such certificates or care if you have one or not. Second is whether these hiring companies even recognize the issuer of such certificates!
I believe this kind of certificate is useless.

I have this certification, I was approved in this exam by 2018 ( It already expired). Aa company paid for my exam, otherwise I wouldn't take it.

One thing that is interesting about this certification are the people behind it: Antonopoulos  and Vitalik Buterin (he was when I took the exam, but I believe he left).

I wouldn't do it again, only if someone paid me to do it or to have it.
That’s how its irrelevance is defined, by its expiry date. Having such a knowledge based certification to come with an expiry date almost feels as though the knowledge did expire with the certificate as well.

When there isn’t any much backing other than the organization administering the examination, then there is a problem of how it could be used and of what significance is it to the crypt space. As far as I can tell, I don’t know of a body that sets standards to what goes and doesn’t and the closest to any form of attachment to what could be in bitcoin has always been the forum but even at that, the forum only operates within its own spheres being where, it’s rules can apply and nothing more
