1141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ProtonMail discovers a security issue in Blockchain.info on: May 03, 2017, 03:24:37 PM
The tweet is already deleted, it means either the security issue is done with, either they're working as hard as they can on it Wink

Considering they KNOW where the issue is and the hacker don't, I bet 99% on Blockchain.info.
1142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Alleged Bitcoin Founder Satoshi Nakamoto creating Bitcoin Core Competitor on: May 03, 2017, 03:21:09 PM
Why would Satoshi Nakamoto require fiat funding to create a new bitcoin node implementation? Wouldn't he just use his stash of bitcoins to fund it?

Best point of the thread.

The real Satoshi Nakamoto would have 10 times the money needed to invest and create whatever he wants.
No reason for him to ask for fiat funding. No sense neither.
1143  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 03, 2017, 03:16:34 PM

Well, I mean... my bitcoins are only worth what they were... well, worth today.

But seriously. Nice slow ride upwards is nice and all, but it doesn't feel like anything special. I think there is still far more to come.

Because it IS nothing special.

That's just the basic upwards trend that is fundamentally part of btc.
Even if the momentum is quite high, it doesn't change much.
1144  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you kill your own children if God commanded you to? on: May 03, 2017, 02:00:25 PM
Would you kill your own children if God commanded you to?
A perfectly valid legit question.

Please no attempts to derail the thread with nonsense like "God would never say that" or "God would never change the rules with murder" etc....

I would rather try to kill God than to harm my children, I must protect my children.

+1

Glad I am not the only one who thinks this way.

...
LOL.  I'd kill God first before I would harm any human being.
...

Nowhere in New Testament does God ask his children of anything even remotely similar to harming their offspring.

I never said it did.
NIce strawman argument.  Smiley

Yeah but I said it did.

Abraham and Isaac? Anyone?
Doesn't ring a bell?
1145  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Emmanuel macron is the next President of France. on: May 03, 2017, 01:57:09 PM
Pretty sure Macron will be the next president of France and I'm very happy with that. I would hate to see France leave the EU, then again I think he could push the EU in a different direction and contribute changing the way the EU works at the moment.
Emmanuel macron has said that if elected President of France he will be the initiator of the reform of EU management in order to prevent later all the talk about the exit of France from the EU.

Yeah so nothing.
I mean the guy hasn't even started to explain what will be those "reforms of EU management"...
And do I have to say again that you can't change anything in the EU management without the agreement of ALL MEMBERS? So that's pure void he's got nothing and will do nothing.
1146  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you kill your own children if God commanded you to? on: May 03, 2017, 01:36:56 PM

You atheists have very funny way of thinking how this universe works. I am amused. Thank you.

Nowhere in New Testament does God ask his children of anything even remotely similar to harming their offspring.
Quite the opposite. OP clearly mistakes "God" for Satan or some abortion clinic. This thread - is your brain on drugs.

You can rest assured, that his existence is not tied to your desire to "kill him". In fact, he loves you none the less.

what?
"Then God said, “Take your son to the land of Moriah and kill your son there as a sacrifice for me. This must be Isaac, your only son, the one you love. Use him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains there. I will tell you which mountain.”"

That's right here in the Bible man.

And I agree, if God asked me that, I would make it like I'm going to kill my son, and at the last moment BAM! A big knife in the allmighty! Cheesy
1147  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is taxation theft? on: May 03, 2017, 01:31:52 PM
Did you indeed read the Animal farm? Because I am not sure, you understood the message. Pigs took over from farmer under the promise of social justice. They then became the new farmer accusing their slaves of being accomplices to the former master. It is the story of socialism.
I disagree! But the book is complex it would be difficult to be sure what was the point Orwell wanted to make.
Pigs took over from farmer but if you remember well the first pigs wanted indeed to keep their promises. It's only because the other animals were too stupid to see the pig named Napoleon as what he really was (a dictator) and agreed to give him all powers.

If they had stopped him from taking absolute powers, then the farm would have worked nicely.
As you can see I did read the Animal farm but I don't have the same reading that you ^^

When someone else pays it for you it's free for you. But you can say it's not free from a macro point of view.

Its not *free*, if there is payment involved. At the very best you could call it a hand out. In this way big governments buy loyalty of lower classes and keep them in order. Calling it solidarity is ridiculous, completely twisting meaning of the word. It is means of control, targeting people, who have no moral compass of their own.

Quote
Even forced it's still solidarity, even if of goodwill would be better.

I would love to see your definition of slavery then. Also see above.

I'm sorry but just read the definition of the word that I gave to you...

Solidarity is the share of responsability in a community. There is NO NEED FOR GOODWILL.
Of course it's better, but solidarity isn't "being nice to ones fellow citizens". It's sharing the responsability accross a group. In socialism, taxation is the way to share the responsability. Responsability of what will you ask? Responsability for the future generations to be able to continue making the country grow.

Granting basic education and healthcare to all citizens is considered as a responsability in some developped countries. It is not the case in USA and UK but that's merely a question of what does the people consider as a responsability, there isn't a good or a bad answer to that. Only a question of perspectives.

But YES taxation IS solidarity by DEFINITION because taxation is the way we share the responsability accross a nation. That you like it or not has no impact on what it is.

But as you saw in Animal Farm the problem isn't the system in itself but the fact that the pigs took the power on the system.
If you can make the same system with everyone in control (direct democracy) then there is nothing wrong with it.

I advise re-read. Pigs control was direct result of democracy. They won others under false promise of equality replacing natural order.
I advise re-read too ^^
Pigs control is not a result of direct democracy, the full control that Napoleon takes on the farm was by force, it's only when he kills the other pigs and takes everything by force that the shit hits the fan.
1148  Other / Politics & Society / Re: French Election on: May 03, 2017, 01:22:45 PM
It seems to me that to remove her parliamentary immunity is a fuse just in case she wins the election. Concerning it criminal case will be brought and it will apply the procedure of impeachment. France will not leave the European Union.

Well she really fucked up with all that. She stole MILLIONS both from Europe and France government. It has hardly happened at such scale, it was litteraly organized crime here.
She was the big boss and watched and organized everything. She really deserves the jail.
1149  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is taxation theft? on: May 03, 2017, 12:11:35 PM
Taxes is the base for any kind of gobeerment, what you really should ask is what are he goberment doing with the taxes you pay to improve your life and country. I dont think is a theft is necesary for the country.
When a pack of cigarettes, the cost of which amounts to a few cents it cost 5-8 euros is that? Isn't that stealing? You take the money and give them to the refugees are robbed and raped. What would you call it?
You mean you take money and use it to pay for the thousands of things that are free for citizens in the country?

I don't know where you're from but in most countries the tax are used to finance the healthcare and education. That's the 2 big spendings posts.

Apart if you're from USA then it will pay for the big tanks responsible for global terrorism.
This is the problem. Nothing is free. The government part of the money stealing, and the other part sends not on purpose. Medicine should be paid, but the price should be adequate and covered.

It is for those who can't afford. It's free for those who need it and can't pay it, because other paid for it. Solidarity.

Your opponent, while simple minded - is getting one thing right. It is not *free*. The only thing free is your body and mind, that you were born with.
When someone else pays it for you it's free for you. But you can say it's not free from a macro point of view.
Quote

It is not solidarity anymore, when people do it out of fear of state, dont you agree?
No I don't I'm afraid. Solidarity: union or fellowship arising from common responsibilities and interests, as between members of a group or between classes, peoples, etc.

It doesn't have to be of goodwill, it's just the share of responsability. Even forced it's still solidarity, even if of goodwill would be better.
Quote
Solidarity is motivated by love, sometimes by pity or bad consience, never by coercion and violence.
See above.
Quote

Perhaps secular governments have no other way to justify it then? Solidarity by the working class. So *everything* is *free* for *everybody*. I feel like reading Orwellls Animal farm all over again...
Ahahah!
Where you're right it's that the pigs are still in power...
But as you saw in Animal Farm the problem isn't the system in itself but the fact that the pigs took the power on the system.
If you can make the same system with everyone in control (direct democracy) then there is nothing wrong with it.

$4 away from yesterdays ATH on Bitstamp. Is anyone else ready for $1500 to break over there as I am?

I stopped following the ATH few weeks ago.
In this days seems to me that we reach a new ATH every week xD

But if we go in YOU HAVE DONE SOMETHING WRONG..

Suuuuuuuuuuuure

British is well known for not at all trying to wage war all around the world.

The British Empire? Man they had it coming! Those damn indigenes who were clearly threatening UK!

The funny thing is if/when Bitfinex actually solves it's banking issues (and therefore proves to be USD solvent), there will be a price correction.

Yes, that is also true. Although I neither expect that to be a violent move at all.

There will be a price correction but I think that it will just reduce the abnormal +$100 gap between bitfinex and the other exchanges, I don't think that the bitcoin price will crush under $1400  Smiley

I don't understand this gap though, is there any explanation for it?
But yeah no way the price goes too low, all I see about btc are good news!
1155  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Up Like Trump on: May 03, 2017, 10:20:00 AM
I lose my respect to Trump. He was bought by war industries.

Perhaps it is too early to reach any conclusion in this regard. Trump is perhaps using this opportunity to improve his approval ratings. He may not be interested in an all out war against the North Korea. I still believe he is a much better choice than Hillary Clinton.
He's no better than Hillary. But stupid. His actions are aimed solely at improving their rankings. I am sure that he will not hesitate to strike on North Korea. Americans remember their inglorious part in the first war and waiting for revenge. Now America can do it easily. I think Trump will do it.

If your logic is correct, then I would say that Trump is much better than Hillary. You are claiming that Trump is talking about the war, just to improve his approval ratings. That is still better than Hillary, who would have dropped nukes by now, if she was the POTUS.

And we're all very happy that Sithara007 is here to explain us what would have happened.
It's really great for us that he's able to distinguish speechs for opinion polls (Trump) and real actions of wars (Hillary).
If only we all had the allknowledge of Sithara007...
1156  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 03, 2017, 10:18:03 AM
Amazingly, this is the record that the price had already passed $1450. I think the trend of rising prices will continue until the end of this year.

I was told 10K by the end of the year so hold on tight.

Who told you?

Someone on the interwebs?

Sounds like a wish.. rather than anything, no?

I put the chances of $10k by the end of the year to be less than 10%.. and even 10% would be pretty good, but I am not sure if such a prediction is even that high.   Tongue

No it's not, that's like saying price will crash to 100$. It's not impossible but there is nothing right now that could support such a claim. Of course if Trump decides to recognize btc as a national currency price will go through the roofs but that won't happen ^^
1157  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Emmanuel macron is the next President of France. on: May 03, 2017, 08:17:56 AM
There is a huge difference between election in France and in the United States.

First, based on the french system Trump would have lost.

No. That is plain wrong. If the POTUS election was solely based on popular vote, then Trump would have polled much more votes than Hillary. Confused? Check the turnout in the heavily Republican counties in deep-blue states such as California and Maryland. The Republicans in California didn't voted, as they knew that their candidate was not going to win. In some of the counties, less than 50% of the registered voters cast their ballot. There were a few deep-red states as well (such as West Virginia and Nebraska), but the population of these states were very low.

Same could be told for Hitlery.
Anyway it's a useless argument that was raised because the election is over.
Still the 2 elections aren't comparable. Contrary to USA, France has still a deep memory of fascism and its consequences. We have it written in the laws as much as in History.
1158  Economy / Speculation / Re: sub 1000 gone forever on: May 03, 2017, 08:14:22 AM
buyers will come in at 1100-1200 on next dip.  you will never again get the chance to buy a bitcoin for under 1k.
Never say never, the situation in bitfinex does not show signs of improvement and if it happens the worst we may see very low prices, prices that we though we were not going to see again probably in the 400 to 600 range, I think we will eventually recover but bitcoin does not grow like that.

There was a dump?
I didn't even see it from the 1440$ price that I stand on  Cool
1159  Other / Politics & Society / Re: French Election on: May 03, 2017, 08:13:06 AM
French citizens have to choose between AIDS and CANCER  Embarrassed

Yeah that's a bit the idea.
Sadly Macron and Lepen are both terrible choices...
Macron wants to stay in the EU but doesn't want to change it and EU is pure shit right now.
Lepen wants to leave it without creating a new one which is just as stupid as Macron's idea.

And we can't really talk about national policy as they have none xD
1160  Other / Politics & Society / Re: French Election on: May 03, 2017, 08:10:44 AM
Nope but there was another alliance at that time.

Today why should France still consider UK as an ally?
I mean what have we in common? We share neither value or ideals, and we don't even have a treaty...

Perhaps you are correct.

You seem to be happier and have more in common with your muslim invaders and German overlords.  Your "ideals" seem to involve bending over and taking it from Germany and doing what you are told (for the second time, this time it did not require a shot fired)
Your opinion here. You talk about muslim invaders we know we got only 7% and most of them are from our former colonies.
Quote
The French always were spineless, the British not so much.
Lol, wanna see the number of victories and defeats in UK/France wars? Cheesy
Quote
You seem to have no issues blocking ports when your spitting your dummies out but for some reason find it impossible to have any control of your borders allowing floods of illegal immigrants to create the Calais Jungle for example.
More than 5 000 km of borders, wanna us to guard it all? Why? It would cost millions without any reasons. Sorry we prefer to have healthcare free for everyone.
Quote

Enjoy your descent in chaos as more are raped and killed by your new guests, dont worry though you can just light up the eiffel tower in pretty colours again to morn the next batch of terrorist deaths while the snowflakes broadcast how wonderful and peaceful Islam is.
Oh we don't worry. Contrary to you it seems we are able to make the difference between facts and emotions. Terrorism deaths in France: about 100 a year. I mean come on, cows kill more people than Islamic terrorism in our country xD
So you want us to spend dozens of millions and get rid of all migrants for a few deaths? Sorry we try to be logical.
Quote

And dont forget nearly half your country wants to join the UK and leave the EU as the recent election shows.
I don't forget that about half of our population is unable to distinguish reality from their own emotions. They're terrified without any reasons. French thinks muslims make about 30% of their population which is just... Beyond stupid.
But you can't do much against stupidity sadly :/
