1141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC Segwit is over 70% on: April 14, 2017, 04:01:04 AM
Looks like it is not going to make Segwit  Embarrassed

Why do you say that??? It's currently at 82%
Because YOU do not understand the activation process. There must be 75% of an activation period of 8064 blocks. We are in period 5. There is no way it will activate in period 5 because there are not enough blocks left to achieve the required 75% activation.

Period 6 is where it CAN happen, if things stay the way they are. Do you think that is going to happen?

what do you mean with period 5 and 6? from what i have understood, segwit need to remain activate for 8064 block and we are at 7383 block, check this http://litecoinblockhalf.com/segwit.php, less than 700 blocks are left before activation

It needs to hit or exceed the 75% for the entirety of an activation window.  This window it was averaging in the high 60 percent for most of it so it won't hit the 75% overall needed.  Next window/retarget starts tomorrow, so it needs to stay at this 80+% for about two weeks starting then.
1142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I just did a smart contract in Byteball : mind blow. on: April 14, 2017, 03:37:15 AM
Version 1.7.0 released https://github.com/byteball/byteball/releases

This version enables prediction markets based on P2P smart contracts. See https://medium.com/byteball/making-p2p-great-again-episode-iii-prediction-markets-f40d49c0abab

Now you can bet on (or hedge against) any events and get paid if the event happens.  One type of events that is already working today is events based on exchange rates of crypto coins and major fiat currencies.

You are welcome to add new oracles that post other real-world events and enable prediction markets based on these events.

Other updates:
* New translations thanks to community members: Hungarian, Swedish, Polish.  Dutch translation improved.
* Multiple small improvements and bugfixes

If you are running a full wallet, the upgrade is mandatory.  The new version extends the smart contract language.  As soon as the new language constructs are used for the fist time, old nodes will not recognize them and will be stuck until upgraded.

That was thrilling when I saw it on their site.

BB has:
easy to use wallet and app
apparently solid development
unique (semi) fair distribution method
smart contracts that normal people can use
high privacy transaction option
and now oracle/prediction markets

Of all the big currencies around they've basically taken the best from each, added a unique consensus method, and are off to the races.

Marc de Mesel is a great guy:

He's giving out free Bytes and Blackbytes, hurry up!

This is a VERY nice gesture to offset the BTC holder advantage, even in some small way.  BB so far has the easiest interface for a wallet I've seen, and see massive adoption potential if the word spreads.
1145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: About to mine XMR in AWS on: March 29, 2017, 12:29:37 AM
In my attempt it appeared to throttle once the miner began running, so almost nil.  If you have access to paid dedicated instances you may have more luck, try it and let us know.

Very very little, they're system will de-prioritize the processes based on what tier you subscribe to.
1147  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] NiceHash.com - sell & buy hash rate cloud mining service / multipool on: January 18, 2017, 08:40:09 PM
I've been showing only profits from my CPU mining on your graph for the last ~36 hours.  The miner when I last checked it is still showing appropriate hash rates for my GPU rates, but the web site is not.  I'm hoping that this is just a reporting glitch and not going to affect my earnings/payout.
