Hopefully, with the concept of decentralised exchanges coming about, we will have a better alternative to all these centralised exchanges. I understand the need for verification if only to solely survive as a business entity in the real world... but no exchange can handle customer support required, or have trained staff to deal with the fraud that it will of course attract.
11422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EOS - Asynchronous Smart Contract Platform - (Dan Larimer of Bitshares/Steem) on: June 29, 2017, 03:56:55 PM
I just read the white paper.

It does not provide a good technical explanation of how it will process in parallel and how it will process millions of transactions per second.

Does anyone understand how they will be able to do this?

I don't think anyone really does, and I don't think any of the major (or minor) investors truly do. What is surprising is given the performance of Steem and Bitshares after their respective launches, people aren't learning their lessons. Or maybe they all are willing to hold out for the same periods. Can't say.

Nice to speculate on how much we could earn, but I feel even the numbers used are far too high for a new service that will really take patience. I might even say a lot of patience. Weeks at the minimum to see the first gains. But I hope to be proven wrong!

if a merchant collaborate with certain wallet to make a deal to secure an unconfirmed transaction it might could solve the long time transaction confirmation. just like what fortunejack done , the partnership between them allows players to play immediately , more info you can visit the site and you would know.

Exactly. There are so many bitcoin sites, gambling ones especially have a high majority like these, that are very happy to let you deposit and see a balance instantly. Or, even some will show an incoming balance so you can start playing or using the funds immediately. It is only when items are exchanged for it, or you want to withdraw it that confirmations must happen.

This was a very good project to watch, keep track of and discuss. And imagine that the important and more interesting things are still not done yet. Can't wait for the wallet to be working... I am quite worried about my addresses in so many places including counterwallet - I just want one last wallet solution.
11426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone Made 100X Profit from Altcoin Investment on: June 29, 2017, 06:48:58 AM
Actually, the responses in here have got me wondering: is there any place which has a track record for all the alts, especially ICO launches? Price at ICO or distribution versus current price, and all-time high. This might be a way to show people that most people lose money for the chance at a good x100 and that in the end, it is probably not worth it?

https://icostats.com/

Ah thank you for this. This is useful... just that it is a rather short list of 20 ICOs and only a handful launched this year. Also it does not list any (except Bancor) that has negative ROI. My intent was to see objectively if we could determine whether if you just got into ICOs, would you on average make or lose money?
11427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: FREE Steemit Growth Hacking & Upvote Exchange on: June 28, 2017, 07:11:57 PM

Thanks for your question - the group is fairly new. Based on the system of steemit, the upvote exchange can have nothing but positive effects, that can even lead to specific posts coming to the trending feed. It will gain initial traffic. Im in contact with reddit upvoters, who have their services and systems working for reddit and im confident we can create a similar synergy-effect all together on steemit.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I may send a PM soon after I first confirm with a few sources about whether this is not wrong to do for Steemit. At the moment I am too new to the system and the rules seem quite relaxed. As long as this won't get us in trouble, I really do not mind it. Can you also have a way to ensure the group has quality content so we don't vote spam?

11429  Economy / Speculation / Re: Anyone else think "long term" hodlers are idiots? on: June 28, 2017, 07:01:55 PM
It's quite a harsh take on holders, but you need to understand what long-term means to people. I understand long term to be a period of years, not months. And financial industry people also see long term to be > 5 years. It sounds to me like you are talking about "recession" when there is no long term or even medium term recession going on in crypto.
11430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone Made 100X Profit from Altcoin Investment on: June 28, 2017, 09:09:28 AM
I read all the time about those "worthless" alts that go from <1 satoshi to 100+ satoshi. That's the only way to make 100X profit... but will anyone buy so many of those coins? To make even 0.1 BTC profit you must sell 100,000 coins at 100 satoshi. Only whales can make that amount of risk, and who will buy it from you once it hits that much anyway?
11431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We can't buy something with Bitcoin quickly on: June 27, 2017, 02:35:46 PM
It really depends on the person accepting Bitcoin. Even some sites I go to now, they will receive an instant deposit (0 confirmation) or instant transaction recorded, but if I were to withdraw then it would wait for confirmations (this is fair and good).

Also, on other sites, once you complete a few successful transactions, you get higher limits for 0 confirmation instant purchases. It works.

Why not just create an email group for those of us who want to join but don't want to add a Telegram? I have a steemit account but I never saw it gain anything so left it alone for a while. Do you guys have any success upvoting each other?
11433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XVG] Verge - Speculation & Discussion on: June 27, 2017, 11:37:36 AM
You may not find anyone in this thread that would give up any xvg for less than its worth, but maybe. Post on Twitter.with $xvg in the message. That may find you a seller. Bittrex, C-Cex are where I buy up verge. There are also active threads on reddit and other sites...Good luck.

Thank you for the tips. I did check those two exchanges you mentioned but somehow cannot find the sell orders with the prices mentioned, maybe just need to put up my own buy orders. I'll try out the Twitter thing and scout a little on reddit. I wonder if I have already missed out, though. Seems way overpriced for what I can find.

I joined the crowdsale on June 9th. I bought NVOs with ETC and ETH. However, now, the webpage does not accept my password. Trying to get a new one and it even does not recognize my email. Trying to contact the support and I do not get any reply, not even an automatic reply. What?s going on?

Thanks

I can sign with my Bitcoin escrow address or with the ETH or ETC addresses to proof my payments to NVO

Just keep trying... but the good news for you that it should not matter if you lose access to the webpage. This is because the tokens will be sent to the addresses you deposited funds with. Just keep those and the private keys carefully until you regain access.
11435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Give me the top 3 projects people are going nuts for. on: June 27, 2017, 11:05:27 AM
After Bancor, everyone is going nuts for EOS, but since it launched yesterday I have not been able to get into their website at all! It's crazy because funding will last one whole year... and it was the same guy who did steem and bitshares.

There's still a few hours left on NVO.io (my signature). It's not super crazy but it's got a solid way forward (and decent funds raised so far).
11436  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Segwit and the fork on: June 27, 2017, 10:06:24 AM
I only have something like 0.07 BTC in my total savings, which I will make sure to keep on my own wallet by 30 July. To be honest, I am not very worried if anything happens to it, yes I will lose almost $180 but that is a very remote possibility.

I will just find it strange that I will have 0.07 BTC and 0.07 whatever else.
11437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ZCash added on AlphaBay on July 1st on: June 27, 2017, 09:19:41 AM
Strange that there is no reaction on Zcash since the news 6 weeks ago... I was almost excited when I saw the thread title and looked at Zcash (it doesn't seem to do very much, does it?). What do you think? Worth the buy? 1 July is only a few days away.
11438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EOS - Asynchronous Smart Contract Platform - (Dan Larimer of Bitshares/Steem) on: June 27, 2017, 07:45:45 AM

I just checked the above address it has now USD 12,5 million.

If this stays the same for this distribution round of 200 million tokens the marketcap will already be USD 62,5 million.

I think it will be beneficial to wait for later rounds if the initial hype and investment frenzy calms down.

Better wait for site to load properly to ensure that is the correct address. If it is, then yeah, I think we better wait for the upcoming rounds (there's so many, hundreds) before you take your decision. After all, there is supposedly no incentive for "Early birds", so it only makes sense not to invest now.
11439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EOS - Asynchronous Smart Contract Platform - (Dan Larimer of Bitshares/Steem) on: June 26, 2017, 01:40:19 PM
OK, so it looks like it is not me alone. I thought my IP was not working so I changed to a fresh one and it still took forever to load (and is not fully loaded). Seems they did not prepare for this. This is what happens when you try to launch an ICO and say "fair distribution".
11440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Why exchanges have almost the same price? on: June 26, 2017, 01:33:33 PM
If you really want to see if this is true, try looking at exchanges in China, South Korea, Japan and India. Compare it to Poloniex and the other major US/Europe exchangers and you will realise they are not almost the same price. On some trading days (usually spikes or falls) you can see even more than $500 difference.
