11501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tired of ETH and ETC? Learn about secured NXT/Ardor smart transactions on: August 01, 2016, 03:13:41 AM

But also be careful of the dump after the distribution of Ardor. Thoughts like your last sentence have made newbies lose their money so you be careful also. I am saying this because other newbies like you might believe that the price will only go up and they might make a mistake of buying at the peak.

Believe me, I'm not a newbie. It is known that there will be a dump (as it happens most of the time on new and hyped cryptos) after the distribution of Ardor. That is why I will be extra careful and try to invest wisely. As soon as I see an increase in price, I will sell my NXT + Ardor tokens to secure my profits. Even still, I've got a lot to learn about trading cryptocurrencies. I guess that I'm only good at the technical aspects of cryptocurrencies, instead of trading them wisely.  Sad

I see that it is not only me who is thinking about this. So I speculate that the people are planning the same thing. Once the snapshots are over I foresee a dump in NXT. But with Ardor we will still have to see. This will depend on the Ardor holders from the NXT community if they continue to hold or decide to dump.
11502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how did ETC survive the 51% attacks? on: August 01, 2016, 03:03:14 AM
It was just a threat from a Chinese miner. He has to realize that it is much profitable to mine ETC than attack it. If he is supporting the Ethereum fork it will not be profitable to mine it in the future because I speculate that the price will fall.
11503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto assets to invest into? on: August 01, 2016, 03:00:36 AM
Good ICOs are valuable to invest into.

This is very much arguable. In the beginning Ethereum was looking like the one that would be at the level of bitcoin in popularity. Now it is looking like a very unstable project with an incompetent development team. Now I would like to know what is the opinion of the old men of crypto regarding Ethereum. Before I have seen that Nick Szabo supported it. What is his opinion now?
11504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: July 31, 2016, 03:28:12 PM
We Need mobile app. Any update on that. Would be nice to access XEM on the move.

Yes. That is a good idea. A mobile wallet should be considered because it can be considered as "infrastructure" that will be beneficial to the users of NEM.
11505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETC price speculation on: July 31, 2016, 03:16:19 PM
Also something I thought of. If ETC keeps appreciating in price and ETH moves sideways or down it is very likely we would see a larger influx to ETC I mean just from ETH holders in this scenario. Some ETHers that I know sold their ETC as quickly as possible for some reason.. they were given a free hedge but easy come easy go I guess.

Another scenario is because the fork is a losing chain. The ETH miners are selling all of their mined earnings and will buy more mining rigs to start mining ETC. They will adjust slowly and transfer all their mining power to ETC if it is the winning chain.
11506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: After ETH/ETC what coin besides BTC will you choose for profit/ safety? on: July 31, 2016, 02:20:04 PM
Lisk must take advantage of the current situation of Ethereum. They should hurry up and talk the companes who were planning to build on Ethereum to make tests in Lisk. Augur is one of the well known that is building on Ethereum. Lisk team should contact them.
11507  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum to go up or down? on: July 31, 2016, 02:57:02 AM
If you study the chart there is nowhere that ETH can go but down. Not only the price movement but also in the news. I am sure speculators will not be confident in holding the Ethereum fork coins with all that has been happening recently. No one would be stupid enough to buy ETH at these very high prices with the future of the platform is now unsure.

There could be a possibiility that the DAO hackers will dump their coins. ETC is more dangerous than ETH.

But there is also a possibility that Vitalik's insider friends will dump their coins because they know they will lose this battle. The community and the crypto development world now could view Vitalik as a joke and a fraud and now no company or start up will now build on top of the Ethereum fork. Many are losing confidence in them so it is best to stay away from ETH and ETC.
11508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So, are all the previous ETH haters now ETH(ETC) lovers??? on: July 31, 2016, 02:48:46 AM
Yes. It is a good tech and without the hard fork roll back and tweaking of transactions. The Ethereum fork is a chain that is corrupted by a small group of people that have lost their principles and are now viewed by the community as frauds. Vitalik's career in crypto is now destroyed. He is now a joke in the eyes of his peers. He is not cypherpunk material. He is just another money seeking individual now in the eyes of the community.
11509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DAO Attacker Owns 10% Of All ETC on: July 31, 2016, 02:44:08 AM
This is still escalating and I predict the peak will be Vitalik stepping down from the foundation and the development team. After that we will see the original chain live on and the fork will die because no one will be mining it anymore. All the start ups and companies will not touch the Ethereum fork with a 100 foot pole. It is possible that Vitalik's career in crypto is over after this. Sorry he is not cypherpunk level.
11510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tired of ETH and ETC? Learn about secured NXT/Ardor smart transactions on: July 31, 2016, 02:35:36 AM
^^^
Your NXT won't be swap. If you hold NXT up to the release of ardor platform, you will automatically get the main chain token (ardor token), also you will get the first child chain token (name yet to be defined) and you can keep your NXT because they will still exist. Nxt 1.0 platform is planned to be supported by the devs for a while (next 2 years at the least).

In the end, 1 NXT = ardor + child token + NXT 1.0

So there should be 3 type of tokens trade in exchanges in the end.

Thanks for letting me know about this mate! At first, I thought that my NXT were going to be swapped towards the new token but I guess that it will be totally different than I expected. I think that this way it will be better since I get to keep my NXT + get a bonus of ardor and the child token. It will be a win-win situation in my opinion. Can't wait for Ardor platform to become a reality. In the meantime, I'll just buy more NXT while they're cheap. I have the feeling that these prices won't last for long!  Cheesy

But also be careful of the dump after the distribution of Ardor. Thoughts like your last sentence have made newbies lose their money so you be careful also. I am saying this because other newbies like you might believe that the price will only go up and they might make a mistake of buying at the peak.
11511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Creating a set of laws that alternative currencies must abide to on: July 31, 2016, 02:31:33 AM
This will only come with experience. So the best way to be good at choosing and knowing which ones are good is to read a lot. Read all the threads at the altcoin announcements section and see for yourself what is happening there. Soon you will be good at sorting the good the bad and the ugly.
11512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto assets to invest into? on: July 31, 2016, 02:28:21 AM
I'm looking into other assets in crypto land to invest into, that pays dividends to its shareholders. I used to have some Banxshares, but now it seems defunct (low liquidity, no market movement) and so I decided to look out for other alternatives.

Could anybody recommend me any good assets to invest into aside from Banxshares? I would greatly appreciate your help with this.  Smiley

This is the worst place to ask for what coins to buy. This thread is only inviting all the wrong and broken advice from all the people that have no idea. In short everyone who is giving advice is here is as knowledgeable as you. So it is better to do your own reading and decide which one is good yourself.
11513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Slack group for Altcoin traders & Researchers on: July 31, 2016, 02:19:32 AM
I like this idea. If only it is possible to organize all the troll boxes of the different exchanges like slack it will be a good source of information. I suggest all the exchanges do this.
11514  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to know legit altcoin that offer legit ICO? on: July 31, 2016, 02:17:50 AM
Developers must have a 1+ year track record of completed blockchain core projects, can be incognito. The code talks.

I disagree that they can be anonymous. Before maybe they can get away with it or maybe if the project has no premine, announced correctly so that everyone will have enough information on how to mine and the code is open source right from day 1 of development. But now if you are having an ICO and ask the people for their money then it is required that you give them your full name and credentials and where you live. The scams here have already proliferated so it is the responsibility of the developers and the community to watch out for each other.
11515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: July 30, 2016, 01:19:26 PM
so full nodes isn't going to be released still?
seem like there are still lots of bag holders and they want to test who can stand still.

These things need patience. We do not want another happening like Ethereum. It is better to be late but secure than early and get hacked. If the developers released the full nodes early and then it is buggy with security flaws. Guess where the same people will whine for releasing buggy code.

Be patient. Everything will work out.
11516  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: July 30, 2016, 12:55:02 PM
So this is it? Is the hashing power of ETC rising or falling? For the first few days the original has been gaining momentum. But now the people are getting anxious because it is still an uphill battle and now the stakes are high because the original chain could be attacked.

Please update us on what is going on. That will be appreciated.
11517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Should Ethereum and DAO be bought now? on: July 30, 2016, 12:41:24 PM
We can wait for a few days. If the hard fork proceeds well, and the price rises as a result, we might buy some.

The hard fork proceeded very well. We have two chains now, the ETH and ETC. The combined value is higher.

If there are two chains, it means the hard fork did not proceed well. If it worked, one chain should be dead.

There is no need to worry about that. In a few months, when the DAO hacker dump his coins, one chain will die.

This will not happen. It will be stupid for the attacker to dump all his coins now. It will only create risk of getting caught. He will wait and slowly sell little by little without upsetting the market which is the smarter move.
11518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DAO Attacker Owns 10% Of All ETC on: July 30, 2016, 12:35:41 PM
I can't wait until Satoshi dumps his bitcoins!

To buy Ethereum Immutable
Satoshi is dead.

So is Vitalik. He buried is own grave when he acted as a central banker by doing a rollback to get funds back from someone that didn't do anything but use the smart contract. He didn't steal, he used the existing smart contract code. The fair thing should have been to let the DAO fall, but no, they were too greedy. Now Ethereum is dead thanks to that. You can stay in denial all you want tho. No one is going to trust "smart contracts" that can end up in a rollback.

It started when he got involved with the DAO. He trusted the slock.it developers to produce solid code. Why did also were not they strict with the security audits? He has only himself to blame.
11519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Eth Classic opened the way for Bitcoin Classic fork on: July 30, 2016, 12:29:05 PM
The minds and hearts of Bitcoin users are prepared. The devil is not so scary as was depicted, forks can happen and the world keeps spinning. Change of algo has to happen in the Bitcoin fork though, because the 3 chinese miners will 51% attack the fork they disagree with to make their profits good again.
Proof: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1563496.0

Days later after the threat where is he? It is just talk. If he really wanted to stop the original chain then he would done so before it was listed in the different exchanges. Now the best move for him is to mine the original Ethereum classic chain because it will be more profitable for him.
11520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Honestly, for how long can ETH survive this mess? on: July 30, 2016, 12:26:16 PM
As long as there is interest from holders or simply people who pump and dump, a coin will survive, no matter how shit a coin is, unfortunately it happens

Good answer. Yes if you look at the altcoins listed in the different exchanges many of them are not very relevant. The Ethereum fork will undergo the same process and will just be there for a while until it is forgotten. Or as what I have been saying there will be a mining arms race with ETC vs ETH and the loser will end up dying because it will not be the longest chain.
