1161  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stolen bitcoins? on: April 16, 2013, 03:33:25 AM
People here have to realize that the vulnerability is not the bitcoin network in itself, but rather the habits of the guy who owned the wallet he send bitcoins to. The only error here was human error.

I'm sorry for your loss, by the way.

thanks why I think, ironically, bitcoin will take off when there are 'bitcoin banks' that insure your coins

or it will force people to realize just how important securing their computers is.

it is extremely important to secure everything and know what your doing.

the thieves make it easier to lose your coins every day. two clicks in the wrong place on your browser and your wallet is gone.

1162  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: just wondering...do you want an easier way to buy coin? on: April 16, 2013, 03:26:46 AM
1% ish fee with credit card with less than 24h turnaround would be excellent. good luck.
1163  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help getting started mining on: April 16, 2013, 03:25:45 AM
first, choose a generous smallish pool with a good rep. slush is a good choice. download guiminer. only use your graphics card.
1164  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Free silver quarters on: April 16, 2013, 03:24:54 AM
i'll take a shot at this.

my father is a silver collector, and i wish to collect half as much information as he has about. it is always interesting to hear him talk about the history and significance of the coins, not to mention it will be a great safety net in case the dollar fails. i hope to tell my children about silver coins someday.
1165  Other / Off-topic / Re: I want to find a word to coin these types of people on: April 16, 2013, 02:56:49 AM
could you give more examples? i cannot seem to make sense of your post.

the singularity is coming
1166  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DIY PCB with AVAlON - [Documentation ready Mid April!!!!] on: April 16, 2013, 02:38:32 AM

This would be fantastic, except that Arduino probably can't handle gigs of hashes every second, it wasn't designed to handle calculations and high speed i/o.

Arduino Due (Arm based), if needed, but regular AVR ATMega328 can do 115kbaud Async Serial no problem.

edit: could also consider LPCExpresso, or rPi

why would we go to all of this trouble to make 1 chip mining boards on arduino shields.

lotta trouble for such little hashing.

+1 to the 10 chips per board stackable idea.

do we have datasheet?

man i have been curious. i saw that you went to school for "marxist thought" and yet you are interested in bitcoin, which is the most capitalist/libertarian/laissez faire thing in existence. change of heart?
1169  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Virtex-7 vs Stratix-5 on: April 15, 2013, 10:04:27 AM
let us know they price, i wouldn't mind paying 120% plus shipping depending on price
1170  Economy / Marketplace / Re: How are the "companies" here performing transactions? State/Fed MSB Reg? on: April 15, 2013, 09:01:31 AM
if they come anywhere close to being hit by the feds, just put everything into btc and close shop

1171  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: community asic project on: April 15, 2013, 08:41:23 AM
As a guy who works on ASICs/FPGAs for a living, I wish you luck. It sounds to me like you're being overly optimistic on the amount of time and money required to produce a working chip.

Yes, SHA256 is easy. What isn't easy is all the cell placement, wire routing/sizing, silicon doping parameters, etc etc which all feed in to your final achievable performance.

why don't you help this community get a hashing asic into your hands then

plenty of designs are already available to copy with minor changes

its just hard to find someone to make the goddamned wafers for a decent price afaik
1172  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL silent these past days? on: April 15, 2013, 01:35:03 AM
i really wish bfl didn't lie so much.

if they didn't have these "ship dates" then tom might not have given up and we might've been able to get a good product from him.
1173  Economy / Goods / Re: 3d prints for bitcoins on: April 14, 2013, 09:36:15 AM
do you have the printing precision to make one of these?

d2jsp is a good source for these types of things.

scammers are there though as well, be careful.

also, i wouldn't pay for it. it'll be here pretty soon.

just sign up and keep your eyes open :3

and play path of exile
1175  Economy / Services / Re: Looking to deploy online backup service, need feedback. Free 20GB for your input on: April 14, 2013, 04:48:05 AM
there is a market, but everyone here is extremely tech savvy

i am semi interested because i need to back up some important files

i think the others are likely concerned about security

thank you for filling another niche. another service we can buy with btc is always welcomed

these forums are also kind of slow, don't be dissuaded
1176  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MT.Gox is dead: Where should we all (most) go next to get enough volume? on: April 14, 2013, 04:42:51 AM
gox is still the strongest out of all the exchanges

btce users just got hit hard :/
1177  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: ASIC Miners - The Next Great Bitcoin Vulnerability? on: April 14, 2013, 01:53:16 AM
the costs of asics are not going to be that much more than gpu or fpga miners. they are overly expensive now because of dev costs, monopolization, lack of availability and high demand. if you notice, all of those conditions are likely to decrease over time and the price will drop. it actually works out fairly well. the gpuers an switch to ltc or sell off their mining rigs as gaming computers, and the fpgaers can basicly keep mining because their power costs are so low, not to mention the chips can be reprogrammed and sold off. rather convenient for everyone in my opinion.

asic deployment will make it nigh impossible for an outside force to destroy btc via computing power, so imo it will make it safer. there will be mining farms, just like there are today, and there will also be a horde of nerdy entrepreneurs with a couple rigs, just like today.
1178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: April 13, 2013, 08:48:03 AM
I think I discovered the demographics of their customer base on their FaceBook page:

great please keep me in the loop. I am on lots of forums & currency trading sites if your product is what you say it is (almost certain its not) then I will help you.. bare in mind 20nm & 14nm FPGAS are on the horizon which might see the end of ASIC processors being made for any kind of computer intensive task...

hey guys, i would like to do a suggestion, could you develep a miner that could run without a computer, just a box that needs a power sock & ehternet and or wifi to work... I don't really need it for home, but i know a lot of people who would like to put a box like that in there work place. for the free energy Smiley just a suggestion

Kncminer We support the idea of making our devices as small and user friendly as possible so yes we will take that in to consideration

Having said that time to market is critical for us and we will launch our product as soon as possible. We will be removing features that will push back this deadline.

Here's some features that could be removed, for all could be purchased by the end user:

...The fans.
...The power supply.
...The case.

To save on labor, just send the required components in a HeathKit box.

+1 let the people that can put the square peg into the square hole and use a soldering iron get the first round

1179  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASIC / FPGA development on: April 13, 2013, 08:28:49 AM
we are in need of engineers like you as well.

one you are caught up, we have lots of work for you Wink
1180  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Xilinx FPGA on: April 13, 2013, 08:05:22 AM
i found a neat little chart

Virtex-7:
$30000 / 1600 MHh/s = $18.75 / MHh/s

Spartan-6:
$170 / 125 MH/s = $1.36 / MHh/s

Kintexes-7:
$1200 / 1000 MH/s = $1.2 / MHh/s

those are the prices and hashes of the chips that would do well for btc mining i think

best of luck sir, happy hunting and have fun while you are there!

while you are there, they likely know the right people that can get ASIC chips to us the fastest - you should tell your friend that and let him know how much we are all prepared to dish out for a good product Tongue

let us know whatcha get!
