11621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum 'Classic' isn't a fork - it is true ETH. The fork should change ticker! on: July 26, 2016, 05:19:40 AM
That is another way of looking at it. It will really depend on the point of view of the person on what is the original and what is the fork. I can see this will be a debate for a long time as long as the original Ethereum classic chain still exists.
11622  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: "Ethereum Hard Fork" or "Ethereum Classic" - please recommend for a novice on: July 25, 2016, 10:00:00 AM
Coinbase has no sway in this.  They don't even have much BTC volume.  Most US BTC volume was in places like Finex.  What Bologniex does is far more important than what Coinbase does at this point.

I heard that Bitfinex will list ETC on Wednesday at the earliest. What do you think of their move? Are they the silent ones who did not express themselves during the hard fork debate? Because their action together with Poloniex and Bitsquare says that they disagree with the hard fork or maybe they disagree with the process of how it was decided.
11623  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Some guy threatens ETC (Ethereum Classic) with a 51% attack on: July 25, 2016, 09:47:18 AM
If ETC is a scam, ETH is a scam too. They come from the same parent, two branches of the same trunk. Either they both are scams or both are not scams.

In my view both are legit projects, the Classic branch is more idealistic. There can be more forks in the future. Forking is a standard operation in crypto.

I don't own any of them, my view is not biased like views of those who own one or the other.

It depends on the fork. If you're idea of a standard fork is like what Vitalik did, forking in order to roll back, reverse, tweak or tinker with the transaction history then this should not be a standard operation.
11624  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Gamblers Gamble? on: July 25, 2016, 07:41:09 AM
I'm trying to analyze behavioral trends on gamblers. Does anyone have a source to compare mass amounts of data from moneypot or other sites? Or do you have some evidence?

Basically, what I'm trying to figure out is:

1) Do people gamble with odds that are above or below 50/50?
2) How do people respond to large losses (in the event of conservative betting) or large wins (in the opposite event)

If you started this thread to gather information in order to study the gambler's winning ways the you are out of luck. Most people in here are losing gamblers including me. So any suggestions made here should not be taken seriously. The winning gamblers will never expose the style they are playing. Why give away that information for free? I am sure they have gone through a lot of bad experience to become a winning gambler.
11625  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: July 25, 2016, 07:19:27 AM
I see that the Ethereum classic is gathering momentum. Why don't you recruit your compatriots from the other side of the fence to start pointing their miners to the original chain.

The price made me laugh out loud this morning  Cheesy

Why? Is there a reason why we should be laughing? I think it is still too high to get in at these price. I am still awaiting for it to go down and have a fair bargain before buying.
11627  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC on FOX 20: Holm vs. Shevchenko Prediction and Info Thread on: July 25, 2016, 07:06:01 AM
Yes! I knew Valentina would win. She is really the better fighter compared to Holm. Valentina is a little smaller but is thicker compared to her. Now it would be nice to follow her future fights because she will be on the road to a rematch versus Amanda Nunez for the championship belt.
11628  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: "Ethereum Hard Fork" or "Ethereum Classic" - please recommend for a novice on: July 25, 2016, 06:57:48 AM
Youd be taking a pretty big risk buying into either one right now. Eth is just waiting to get dumped but if u had to buy one then i think  the hard fork is the one to choose since it has the highest value but that could soon change. They probably shouldnt have forked in the first place so classic is the one that is the original but like above poster says that could be abandoned completely. Investing in either could potentially be you throwing your money away.

Look at this tweet from an original developer. https://twitter.com/MrChrisEllis/status/757293299426271232

He is playing it safe by claiming they support both chains. Why? Because they want to have the room to move on to one chain if the other one is going down. This is just speculation but it also makes logical sense. They know they took a risk with doing the hard fork and by claiming that they still support the original chain will make them avoid paying for the risk taken. So they can get that cake and eat it too. The only person who cannot do so is Vitalik. He is the one who made it possible for the hard fork to happen and I cannot imagine him going back to the original chain if the Ethereum fork "supporters" leave. That would be too funny.
11629  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: "Ethereum Hard Fork" or "Ethereum Classic" - please recommend for a novice on: July 25, 2016, 06:44:05 AM
Well, maybe Coinbase has answered the question for me because, it seems like they only sell EHF. No EC.

You have to understand that I can't keep my money on the sidelines (all in BTC) with all this action going on.  I need to diversify my crypto portfolio.

Ok then you have an answer which is good enough for you. There is no need to argue and ask questions further since you already trust the fork because Coinbase supports it.
11630  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING: Ethereum Classic Is A Scam. on: July 25, 2016, 05:53:54 AM
You are an Ethereum fork supporter are you not? Of course you will call the original Ethereum as scam. It is a threat to you. But the public who come to this forum regularly know what is going on. The people here are the most skeptical and cycnical people you will ever meet and they do not sway that easily.

The writer of the blog is David Seaman, a "YouTuber, researcher, and cryptocurrency enthusiast". He is not a crypto developer nor is he an expert. He could be a paid shill. Seeing that he maybe works for the Huffington Post solidifies my speculation.
11631  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: "Ethereum Hard Fork" or "Ethereum Classic" - please recommend for a novice on: July 25, 2016, 05:28:30 AM
This is not as simple as choosing one over the other. The best answer for now is to stay away if you're not into it yet. Both are in a delicate situation because one is gaining momentum and the other could be abandoned by its own developers. The biggest loser here I fear could be Vitalik. He will have nowhere to go if his allies abandon him and Ethereum fork.
11632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Some guy threatens ETC (Ethereum Classic) with a 51% attack on: July 25, 2016, 05:22:14 AM
He talks about attacking ETC not ETH. ETC hashrate is at 5% of that of ETH.

That statistic is changing by the minute - in favour of ETC.

Sure thing because its pumped 20X. Dont forget, attacker still possesses 3.6 million in the darkdao which will be released in a lump sum all at once on 28th of july, and he will certainly have to provide a solid liquidity for himself to cash out.

U cant cash out 3.6 million on bitsquare where it was traded at 0.00013 BTC/ETC and had no bids around there, but u'd rather cash out on thick markets provided by poloniex or bitfinex, wouldnt yall? If we look at how insanely its being pre-pumped, with miners jumping onto the most profitable chain and propelling the hashrate, it all catches on just perfectly.

Another option for the attacker is to use Poloniex and trade ETC for ETH since there is a ETC/ETH listing there. After that he can dump all ETH for BTC. This will be bad for ETH because it will bring the price lower. But it is good for ETC because with the attacker's BTC he can buy back in ETC pumping the price.

He has the option to do this as a cycle and keep doing it until he destroys the ETH price. I speculate the motivation of the attacker is deeper than stealing for profit. He is doing this for his own activist agenda. This I fear is what Vitalik does not want to face.
11633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: July 25, 2016, 05:11:26 AM
The price is now stable at the current level as expected. Now we wait for the full nodes and further await the listing on Poloniex for wider whale trader access. As an investor that's what I hope will happen. And the sooner the better.
11634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ARDR][NO ICO] Ardor, or Nxt 2.0, a Scalable Child Chain Platform on: July 25, 2016, 05:06:13 AM
@bbcreporter: it is about scalability and preventing blockchain bloat. outsourcing all the beautiful functions of nxt that are not relevant for network security to childchains allows to prune the history of these much used smart transactions. the mainchain will only keep snapshots of each account's holdings of the childchaintoken, not the complete transaction history of these tokens. this leads to less blockchain bloat. less bloat also means that more transactions per second will be possible, because you can use the saved memory space to increase blocksize.

Now I understand clearly. This is an elegant solution if you do not want to start over and lose the original NXT. This also good as a sort of revival if you want user interest to come back.

Thank you for your reply.
11635  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: July 25, 2016, 05:00:01 AM
Is there also a light wallet for Lisk? This will make things easier for everyone who want convenience.
Yes.

It is not from the official Lisk Team.
But it is made by Lisk Delegate: "fixcrypt"

https://github.com/fix/Lisk-Lite-Client

Ok thanks for the reply.

Does anyone have any reviews and testimonials on this light wallet? I would like to hear any reviews and testimonials be it technical or not.
11636  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: July 25, 2016, 04:56:26 AM
As soon as I thought the price what beginning to be stable, it is going down again. I speculate that this will reach new lows. So it is better to save your bitcoins and look for more bargain hunting.
11637  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: July 25, 2016, 04:50:47 AM
Can someone give the ELI5 on why the forkers seem to be butthurt about ETC? Isn't that the whole idea of the fork? Two chains and all.

Because ETC is not legit.
https://twitter.com/MrChrisEllis/status/757293299426271232
thats what devs say
and you just wish it would be not legit

Now he is claiming that Ethereum classic has his support the same as Ethereum fork. What does this mean to me as an ordinary supporter? He is playing it safe. If one chain fails, he can always switch to the other chain. I believe the other developers will do the same to save their own skin. I pity and fear for Vitalik because it will be him who will be thrown out in the cold when push comes to shove.

Oh why did he have to do the hard fork? I think he was pressured by those Ethereum insiders who put millions in the DAO.
11638  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: RISE | ICO CLOSED | RISE WITHDRAWAL ENABLED | MAINNET LIVE | TRADING ON BITTREX on: July 25, 2016, 04:41:37 AM
Rise just got dump to 947 sat a piece time for the whales to buy more before it hits polo, or will it go even lower and who are this people selling a great lose.

Who said it will be at Poloniex? Is there any news about it or are you just making a speculation? I believe Poloniex is far stricter in listing coins in their exchange. It will have to go through audits by their staff.
11639  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ICO LIVE] STRATIS | C# Blockchain Development Platform | ICO ends in 2 days on: July 25, 2016, 04:39:21 AM
Anyone know how much 1 Stratis is worth now?

With 374BTC invested, the price of each Stratis token right now is about 500 satoshi, taking bonuses in consideration.

The Stratis ICO is LIVE

https://ico.stratisplatform.com

Only 63 hours left to invest ends 26th July 10pm GMT

Interview with Chris (Stratis CEO)- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6W1zUZ4tgg

50 hours left....

Less then 48 hours left to invest into the Stratis Project.

With the ICO very much off the target of 1000 bitcoins I am fearing most of the token holders will make an exit as soon as this is listed in an exchange. This will be a case of who will press the sell button faster. We have seen this again and again in altcoins.
11640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: July 25, 2016, 04:32:49 AM
Price is dropping to 1000 satoshi again
When it was 30 we were supporting each other.

When it was 300 noone was complaining.

When it was 700 people was happy.

Now it's 1000 and everyone is whining.

WTF

Fill in Smiley

When it was 2500 people __________________.

This is a great point. I never ever fail to be amazed how short memories are and how emotional people are.

If two short months ago you'd have written about people whining about a 1000 satoshi price level people would assume you were off your tits on drugs.

It just shows that there were a lot of squares who bought at 2000+ satoshis. Now they are very anxious and couldn't wait patiently for the next rally. Usually the result to this is they will sell at the time just before the rally. It is the epitome of a loser in trading. They buy high and sell low.
