I would be all over linux if it was supported by video games. I know that sounds silly but it would be hard for me to give up one of my favorite pass times. I suppose that's why having 2 PC's is useful, one with windows and one with linux for cryptos Tongue

Having more than one PC is definitely an option. The thing to keep in mind here is that a computer or device cannot serve two masters. If it supports DRM at the operating system level then one should assume that any information that is entered into that device or computer will be shared with every government spy agency on the planet, any criminal that seeks this information, any corporation wishing to profile etc. It should not be used for anything even remotely sensitive from a privacy perspective such as browsing the web or sending an innocuous email, let alone Monero.

On the other hand a computer or device that makes its owner the master will not be trusted by any licensor of DRM infected content be it the MPAA, a game vendor, streaming service etc. It will protect the privacy and security of its owner very well. The only way to ensure that the owner is the master is to use a FLOSS operating system which for most people means GNU/Linux.

Edit1: When it comes to virtualization it is the host and not the guest that is in control so running a GNU/Linux guest on a Windows host is not a solution, since the DRM supporting host namely Windows is in control. One the other hand running a Windows guest on a GNU/Linux host can be an option in certain situations since the GNU/Linux host is in control.

Edit2: When it comes to Monero one must realize that security is only as strong as the weakest link. Ring signatures, I2P, Stealth Addresses, etc are not going to be of much help if the adversary knows one's private key and can track every transaction one makes via the DRM in the operating system.

Doesn't matter what OS you use when your hard drive firmware is compromised.

Cross-chain mixing works for some purposes, but Putin/Kirchner/Obama's tax thugs and lickspittle corporatists will demand to know the origin of your coins.  Which is effectively a whitelisting approach putting the burden of proof on the user to prove their innocence against the presumption of guilt.

Right, what do you do when you buy something with such spent Bitcoins or Moneroj, when they come back and say, "We know you bought such and such with these, because it was shipped to your address. We now need a verifiable record of when and where you bought them, because you now potentially owe capital gains taxes on them."

I would advise everybody to just follow the rule of the law in your particular jurisdiction. :-)

OK, So I still think we can expect .002 - .0018 to be the low before a big upswing back above .003+.  What I'm not sure on is the time frame.

These whale dumps are nothing but shots across the bow and can be proved by the troll support and FUD campaign that coincides. This is so predictable it really is laughable. Only differance this time is it took 2 Whale dumps to scare people and tauntstewy didn't show up.

This is really a good thing as the coin becomes more diversified as well as dropping into the hands of those with true vision. E.I. Able to see the end game not just short term profits.

When I first researched this coin I spent months monitoring the various threads before coming to the realization that this is a truly dedicated team with a goal that IS achievable and is sorely needed. I think there can be NO debate on those points.

The only real concern I have is because the Development is funded so slowly there may be a contender that will build off of all this hard work with a bankroll behind it that will achieve Monero's roadmap quicker. That is the reason I decided not to just hold after purchase and will play the game to accumulate as the war rages. There will be, as we have seen over and over, massive swings as the whales attempt to manipulate and the small fish continue to panic in the maelstrom. I have no doubt that in the end XMR will be the defacto currency for those that are bright enough to see the writing on the wall. Control through assets is growing every day and most of the population is too uneducated to see it for themselves and of those that it is pointed out to only a small percentage actually grasp the gravity of the situation.

My point being unless you haven't gleaned it from the preceding is that this project cannot logically fail except for the one scenario which I have outlined above. Unless of course the big 3 letter organizations make a concerted effort, and I don't see that happening until the threat is at such a high level that those of us that see what I've outlined above will have already observed those signs and will be moving in the next direction. AfA that case scenario, I would estimate at least 5 years before there would be a need to be concerned about that. And by that time less than a handful of todays coins will still be alive, I'll not name my thoughts on which as I don't want to send this into an off topic direction.

Inspired by Otoh's brave example, I also have decided to sell all my XMR. I use the Dark Theme on Poloniex because I'm cool. As you can see, this is me selling everything. As you can see from the screenshot I'm selling my 192382374923412.203874 XMR for 384782064260.56750488 BTC (around $86.19 trillion). Hopefully the market can sustain this dump.

Would just like to say thank you Ryan, all of the tips you've given so far have helped me realise potential trades.
I've noticed patterns and trend changes quite quicker than I used to and have a rough idea of where the market is going.

That being said I have made no money this week, I set my buy orders too low on a few coins the day/night before they rally'd up. Knowing I could've made money this week is a much better feeling than losing.

I'd definitely recommend others to take a step back and see what happens.

Hey Ryan thanks for the heads up on SDC that was my first big profit. I like the whole get in early on the way up then exit, then get back in when the price crashes to make additional money from the rebound.

after parlaying 0.3 btc into 1.7 btc with only two trades of the same coin I feel like theres so much more i can do. Hopefully every trade will be this easy lool

yep the IRC is plush! I made .7 btc from one SLR trade on Sunday which isn't much when compared to everyone else, but looking to put my best foot forward this week to make even more.

in his "picks of the week" he PMed on the 6th of Sept he said to get into KORE, anything under 20k would be great.
Later that day it was sitting at 16k, slowly went up to 20K.
If you got in early and held on to it till KORE was getting near their anon VoIP wallet you'd have been able to sell early and exit at 30k (like I did) or play hard and get 33k+ out of it (it spiked at 35k about 3 hours ago).

Yep 0.5BTC is a big price if you're a small time trader like me, but for those who wanna play big, cheap ticket to more profit.

With Ryan it's almost like a daily lecture on how to spot coins that are going to rise before everyone else does which really starts to rub off on you after a while. We got into VIACOIN before everyone else so when the rally started the uninformed were actually panic buying our sell orders that we placed several hours before for a 50% profit. I guess this is where the value is i suppose

maybe, but I think this coin history is like this.

the Dev seemed very legit, he PM'd me often and I was impressed that he was indeed sincere.

But a premine is a premine and post-fact(hindsight) no premine coin has ended well .... looking at you fuelcoin ... my suspicion now is that he spent big BTC getting it listed on Mintpal.  The community rallied with votes and that got BCT listed.  Now I don't think he set out to be a con, but this was summer/fall 2014 and ALL was a con, as it turned out so was Mintpal.  BCT got pumped and dumped and I think the dev faced losses of lots of BTC getting it listed so he sold out.

There is no other way I see it playing out.  Other than abandon the coin, domain, listings, reputation and hope to sweet Virgin Mary than the community persists thru all that BS and the network survives (despite 100s of coins biting the dust) and NEVER EVER reappear in the strange hope that we some how revive BCT for him and then he pops up like Dr. Evil and dumps the premine.

Too be honest I don't care which is true.  If it makes you happy then you're RIGHT!  I think we should raise the market cap of BCT from what $50 to $50M and then the dev can dump that premine.  And he deserves that right.  Satoshi is sitting on $1,000,000,000.00 worth of premine, and if this coin is designed to survive on the smell of an oily rag he earned it.  Seriously I haven't seen a simpler network than BCT it is like the energizer bunny .. it just keeps going!

AFA your logic, well that is a possible scenario and another one is that he said "Fuck it" and just left and then slowly started throwing coins to that faucet when this thread started to revive a little.

I do agree that there was no intention of scam from original DEV. Otherwise I would not be in this thread. I do not do scam coins.

No matter what, the distribution is fucked so that has to be addressed for this coin to EVER be taken seriously. I'm sorry but those are the cold hard facts. And no he doesn't deserve a dumping payday.

A live graph showing the price you would have received your xmr vs the high and the low of the day.

Do you have an account? There is a graph. It shows where your purchase was made, and you can see the high and low of the day from the graph. I will put a screenshot in the OP when I get home today.

Not yet, I am still monitoring the market before purchasing and have not decided whether to use this or not when I do. But a generic live graph on the main page of the default settings would give a good idea of what the difference would be for like a weekly timeframe. It should be a decent selling point as long as it's consistently in the middle of the road.

Without data I probably won't try it to be truthful.
