1182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin heading to 1000 which alts will survive? on: October 19, 2013, 02:10:15 PM
according to exponential growth I have no doubt its heading to 1000 within a year,

at that point which alts do you think would survive aka not worth like 1/10 value of the current price.

Litecoin is on a downward trend, maybe NVC, PPC, NMC, or DVC will take over?
1183  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How it the amount of BitCoin limited if people mine them everyday? on: October 19, 2013, 02:07:02 PM
and what happens if we reach the cap?

Eventually we 'll reach the limit and there will be no new coins after that.
People though will keep mining for the transaction fees. If this is what you wonder about...

yes, bitcoin will be worth a lot then
1184  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: trick to raise hashrate with Radeon HD 7850 on: October 19, 2013, 02:06:08 PM
Sure if he wants to mine Scrypt, that works.

Does Diablo even support scypt??

I thought block erupters were only for mining bitcoins? whereas the AMD 7850 is more dynamic and can mine bitcoins but the
competition from the asics makes it almost pointless, so the 7850 is mainly applicable to coins other than bitcoin.

you can use them to mine other coins too

1190  Other / Off-topic / Re: Was the Silk Road Arrest Tor-Related on: October 03, 2013, 12:25:42 AM
So far, is there any evidence indicating that the Silk Road arrest was caused from a flaw/vulnerability in the Tor protocol, or was it pure email/pseudonym tracking & behavioral analysis? Because the latter seems rather dubious IMO. I mean how would "um, he liked the silk road youtube videos so he must be the admin" hold up in court?

When was the arrest made?

Please help expose bitcoinwallet.in and Ironcross360. I do not care about me, it is for all of the poor newbies who are being robbed by these people, it started here and it has spread, bitcoinwallet.in is starting to run adds all over free btc sites. Thank you in advance. I just saw a poor guy get degraded and disrespected for reporting his theft and who did it, I also received the same treatment... they are pulling in an average of 8000-10000 Btc daily, this is a plague on BTC and all of Cryto Currency.
...

What happened to ironcross360?
1192  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How do you Bitcoin people like North Korea? on: October 02, 2013, 11:48:29 PM
Does anyone know what percentage of the North Korean population has access to broadband internet?

Probably, only the elite can have Internet access.

Only the ruling class, actually.  Smiley Cheesy
1193  Other / Politics & Society / Re: No More Silk Road. on: October 02, 2013, 11:47:22 PM
Now, onto how he got caught…

An agent involved in the investigation (“Agent-1″), found the first few references to SR on the internet from somebody only identified as “altoid”, attempting to promote the site in its beginning days, in January of 2011.
In October of the same year, a user also going by the name of “altoid” made a posting on Bitcoin Talk titled “a venture backed Bitcoin startup company”, which directed interested users to “rossulbricht at gmail dot com”.
That email address is what led to DPR’s downfall.
    —
After identifying “altoid”, they started connecting the “DPR” identity to Ulbricht pretty quickly.
Ulbricht’s Google+ page and YouTube profile both make multiple references to the a website dubbed the “Mises Institute”. DPR’s signature on the SR forums contained a link to the Mises Institute.
DPR cited the “Austrian Economic theory” along with the works of Ludwig von Mises and Murray Rothbard, all of which are closesly associated with the Mises Institute.
Server logs show that someone logged onto the SR administration panel from San Fransisco around the same time that Ulbricht was staying in San Fransisco.
Multiple fake IDs were intercepted by U.S. Customs & Border Patrol while on their way to an address which Ulbricht was living at the time. These IDs all carried photos of Ulbricht but had false names and details. This was around the same time that DPR stated in a message that he was acquiring some fake IDs to buy new servers.
When questioned by Homeland Security about the fake IDs, he refused to answer any questions but then stated that anyone could purchase such things using “Silk Road” and “Tor”.
The address which Ulbricht was staying at was being rented in cash and he was living with housemates who knew him under a name which corresponded with one of the fake IDs.
He posted on StackOverflow using his real name, inquiring about how to use curl/PHP to grab things off Tor, before quickly changing the name to “frosty” (with a fake email: frosty@frosty.com)

Interesting.

1195  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BREAKING NEWS: REWT ADMITS TO BEING A SCAMMER! NEG TRUST HIS ASS!! on: September 17, 2013, 09:06:31 PM
no people, i should deserve the untrustworthy tag. that way atleast people will know what i've done. mathew wright got the untrustworthy tag and he didn't even scam no one. now granted, no one liked that guy in the first place but still, there can't be a double standard am i right? if i'm not awarded untrustworthy tag for my actions it sends the message that scammers can just apologize and everyone will forgive them.

at the very least i should get negative trust until i have paid back igotspots and apologized to bdub.
Matthew wright got the untrustworthy tag?  I thought he was a VIP and made that up.  What did he do?
1196  Economy / Lending / Re: Stunna's 0% interest mini loans on: September 17, 2013, 09:02:15 PM
Is their a waiting period for additional loans? i'd like to take out another loan if you'll allow it.

EDIT: its also a bit disturbing that you haven't crossed my name off the list. it makes it look i haven't paid. my image is already bad enough around here, half the board wants to crucify me.

Why?
1197  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BREAKING NEWS: REWT ADMITS TO BEING A SCAMMER! NEG TRUST HIS ASS!! on: September 17, 2013, 09:00:59 PM
atleast he had the balls to admit his mistake(s), very few of the people around here would do that.

We still love ya R3wt Smiley

I agree with that.  Not everybody admits it.

OK I figured it out, (why it's so quiet around here)
I think Bitcoin Land is full of students? (And classes are now in full swing.)

Haha! Good point.
1199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Super Bowl Commercial for bitcoin? on: September 17, 2013, 08:58:29 PM
VISA, Mastercard, and Capital One have dominated the public sphere for too long. Imagine a smart bitcoin ad that could introduce people to the idea that there's an alternative to all the bull.

A 30 second TV spot would reach 100-120 million (mostly American) viewers.  This would likely cost 24,000 BTC (3 million USD) at current exchange rates.

A competition could be held within the BTC community to vote on whichever ad they think is most worthy for the spot.  It would be good idea to get an escrow system set up so that if the donation threshold is not met, then the donations are refunded. It would be even CRAZIER if there was some kind of implementation to run a faucet that starts when the commercial airs, billing it as "the only commercial ad that pays YOU to watch it!"

If we can't get to it for this year's superbowl then I'm optimistic, it will likely be even more feasible in the years to come if Bitcoin sticks around and grows in value.

That would be awesome!  Doesn't the foundation have 1,000,000 BTC or something?  They could fund it.

Yes, kingpfsports posted that I believe.
