"Give a wife a fish and you feed her for a day; teach a wife to fish and you feed her for a lifetime."

Maybe lose a few pounds?

My ignore list is pretty small.  Congrats on making the cut!
11902  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Whale Effect on: September 19, 2018, 07:59:31 PM
There's always a bigger fish.  I remember when pirateat40 was manipulating the market for gains, until BitPay decided to step in as a buyer and absolutely wreck him during one of the manipulation dumps, which potentially led to the collapse of his Ponzi scheme.  While there was a time when whales could manipulate BTC, I don't believe that is much of a threat these days with the current market.  Perhaps with shitcoins, or you can see public manipulation attempts first hand watching BCH price movements and posts by their cheerleaders.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.  Everybody is a hardened murdered on the internet it seems.  This light reading comes to mind.

11904  Other / Meta / Re: [Beta] @mention notification bot open for testing on: September 19, 2018, 06:27:36 PM
After taking a look at this to set it up, it appears that the notifications are sent to a thread and not a PM?  Why is this?  I would think we'd want our notifications to be private in the form of a PM and not a public thread post.  Maybe providing our user ID for PMs instead of a thread link would be a better solution?
11905  Other / Meta / Re: [Beta] @mention notification bot open for testing on: September 19, 2018, 05:46:36 AM
This seems like a great innovation. I look forward to trying it out soon.

It is so strange seeing accounts created in 2015 chastising people for being newbies on this forum.
11907  Economy / Securities / Re: 📈 NastyFans: The Bitcoin Enthusiast Fan Club (est. 2012) on: September 18, 2018, 05:33:49 AM
How can I get donations for my nasty silver coins? I won them in the lottery a couple of months ago.

The addresses are 1nasty1oKaPW86JsZcoE5EsVaJE76asvj and 1Nasty5Tzv9sbcvv5uDswyujhznSU3Jrqn. I haven't received any distributions but nastyfans says several distributions have been made.

I can't find any way to add these coins to my account.

Looks like the first address you listed has 0.00004572 BTC pending according to the analyzer. There’s a minimum threshold before distributions are made in order to keep the address from being loaded with dust. You need only to wait until more BTC is accumulated.

You add the coins to your account by providing nonnakip with the necessary information. You can do this using this form: https://nastyfans.org/post
11908  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to convert BTC into real money? on: September 18, 2018, 04:07:17 AM
Real money? What do you think BTC is?

There are plenty of exchanges that will turn BTC into different fiat currencies.
11909  Other / Meta / Re: Checking every single bitcointalk profile which has 1-2 merit. Shouldn't we? on: September 17, 2018, 08:32:29 PM
The solution is simple:  ban all paid signature campaigns.

This would remove almost all economic incentives to farm accounts by posting crap to the forum.

It's a tough situation.  On one hand, it is great that this community has decentralized sources providing revenue to it's users.  On the other hand, those decentralized sources are being highly manipulated by established members and their armies of alts to spam the forum and collect all available revenue.

I honestly don't see any remedy for the situation outside of centralizing signature campaigns and having the forum be responsible for their displays and payouts.  While I'm sure this would be profitable for the forum, I don't think it aligns with the theme here.  It would also put signature managers out of business, who are in my opinion the ones to blame for the spam problems here.  That would surely have an effect on forum views and perhaps even a longterm negative effect on profits.
11910  Other / Meta / Re: Is the new merit system better? on: September 17, 2018, 07:16:57 PM
I think the restricting of signatures is a great first step towards removing the financial incentive for creating multiple accounts.

I'm a beginner
~
Put the number 50 instead of 19.
if (zero_prefix> 50)
If I understand correctly, this increases the maximum number of characters to search for from 19 to 50, correct?
If so, you can just safe yourself the trouble: it's never going to happen!
But if you still want to try, you can just as well search for "only" the first 19 characters. If there is a hit, which takes somewhere around a quintillion years, you can manually verify the remaining characters to see if they are correct too.

Yes, I need 50 number of characters
I know that the generation itself is 2 ^ 256

I need a program with this change.
Can you help?

I don't think anyone will help you with this.

Seems like some crazy good deals. Definitely trade safely and use escrow.
11916  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos, can we do something for you?? on: September 16, 2018, 05:20:24 AM
I think theymos should continue to roll things out at the pace he feels comfortable and not be pressured by community members to make changes. I also think his time is likely better spent elsewhere then doing a newsletter.

This type of thread already exists as a sticky in this section.

11918  Other / Meta / Re: Need to talk to theymos about minds.com can offer minds tokens for help. on: September 15, 2018, 07:23:00 PM
I cannot envision a scenario where this forum would integrate support for random altcoins.  However, if it were to occur, I believe we'd see a homegrown token based on something like activity/merit and run on Blockstream’s Liquid sidechain.

I think it’s a cool idea if it were executed well. Not easy to find the right individual for something like this.
