Sorry it's taking so long to get the customized Bitcoin keychain biz launched. While I thought the imaging process was perfected, I learned during our test production run that there were still some rough edges to work out… But it does seems we've finally got it figured out. And I'm talking to some potential partners about doing a lot more than just customizing these keychains, so as we work out more details, it still may take a little while before I/we launch the customized keychain biz.

If anyone is eager to get a customized keychains, and just can't wait, send an email to: custom-btc@papercliprobot.com (or PM me), and I may be able to include you in some pre-launch runs. We can print your public key QR code, your B&W business logo, your Gliph, whatever suits your fancy.

I'll crosspost this in the custom thread too (please follow that thread if you really want to keep up on the customized Bitcoin keychains, since this thread is really about the standard Bitcoin keychains): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=399074.0

I'd say it's definitely worth waiting to get it right the first time.  Wouldn't want someone else getting my BTC when people scan my QR code. Wink

Ha, misdirected Bitcoin is one thing I'm not worried about! QR technology seems pretty good at being binary; it either (1) reads correctly, or (2) doesn't read at all.
123  Economy / Goods / Re: Customized Bitcoin Keychain (Giveaway) on: January 13, 2014, 05:23:24 PM
I wanted to let everyone know that there were some quality issues with the first test production run, so there is a delay in getting these out to winners. Hoping to get it all figured out soon. Thanks for your patience.

Went right to Twitter and searched for AdamCarolla plus Bitcoin.

Interestingly, ex Ace co-broadcaster Sandy Ganz seems to already be on the Bitcoin wagon:

I'm wondering if the guy who mentioned Bitcoin on today's podcast is a member of this board?

For those who have no clue what I'm talking about, The Adam Carolla Show is a popular daily comedy podcast.  They interview Hollywood type guests and discuss daily news topics around the world. It's one of the most downloaded (if not the most) podcasts on iTunes.   It also holds the Guinness world record for the most downloaded podcast.

Today's episode had a caller inquiring whether Adam would accept Bitcoin donations to support the (free) show.  Adam asked what it was and the caller gave a brief description.  Adam's response was basically "sure we'll accept it".  He seemed fond of the fact there are no transaction fees.

Great job to whomever was able to get on his show and talk about Bitcoin.  He has a very large audience and owns a network of podcasts covering many different subjects and reaching many audiences.  All of his podcasts are free and are supported by donations as well as advertisments. He also has a good presence in TV media.  Hopefully he sets up a wallet and starts talking up Bitcoin.

I just did a search and found the caller on Twitter!

And Adam responded to the tweet.

127  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Los Angeles (SoCal) Bitcoiners Meetup? on: January 09, 2014, 01:01:01 AM
I plan on attending the Andreas Antonopoulos Meetup and Digital LA event.  Also,  I think it would be good to try to get our friends who are not yet intimately familiar with Bitcoin to attend both events as well.

For the Meetup, does anyone know if there is a Facebook event I can invite people too?  I think it would be easier than just posting to my wall.

While normally I'd agree, looks like if we can't find another venue, the RSVP list is already way over capacity for Coloft. Hoping something magic happens before tomorrow night...

Nice work to the winners.

@OP
Just a suggestion but perhaps the reason there were so few entries is because you limited it to USA only? There is a vast community of miners especially in europe and shipping isn't that much more complicated or expensive just for 2 packages.

I'm not disappointed at the response, I'm just surprised. I actually like that a higher percentage of entries has success. Though I should note that I didn't have a huge response back in July when I held a giveaway of the standard Bitcoin keychains, which was not limited to the U.S.

Based on sending lots of stuff overseas, I have found the level of complication can vary quite a bit, depending on the destination country. I've tried to create customs forms for some international shipments online, only to be told at the end of the process that I couldn't generate the form, and needed to bring the package to post office to send (lines at the local post offices mean the entire process can take over an hour). Loss in transit, or very long waits for delivery, are other issues I've encountered much more frequently when sending packages to certain countries outside the U.S. So I made the informed choice, based evaluating my time and other factors, to keep the giveaway simple and not ship internationally.

While I'm very sorry that this wasn't open to everyone in the world, I hope my explanation makes sense to you.

Last bump didn't add anyone -- I'm surprised people aren't more interested in a high-odds chance to win something free, that many seem eager to buy!

I numbered all the entries and used Random.org to choose the two winners:

1) runam0k
2) geoffreyqp

I will PM the two winners. If for any reasons these two aren't able to follow through with the requirements, I'll move on to the next in line, as chosen by Random.org.

I will post to this thread and my original Keychain thread once I am order to start taking orders, hopefully in 1-2 weeks. I'll provide full details on pricing, capabilities, etc. Thanks all!

Thought I'd give this one more bump to see if anyone else wants to enter the giveaway. I'll pick the two winners a little later. Thanks everyone for your interest!
131  Economy / Goods / Re: Customized Bitcoin Keychain (Giveaway) on: January 04, 2014, 10:56:42 PM
Clarifications:
• The suggested use is for your public key! I don't want to take responsibility for keeping anyone's private key secure.
• Pricing has not been finalized, I don't want to suggest a price until a few details are worked out.
• I plan to offer international sales at launch, or soon after.
• You can submit your public key via PM, email, etc.

I wanted to let followers of this thread know that I started another thread for a giveaway of two customized Bitcoin keychains. Here's where to go for more info:

133  Economy / Goods / Customized Bitcoin Keychain (Giveaway) on: January 04, 2014, 10:05:52 PM

Hello, I've been selling a two-sided Bitcoin keychain since July (see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=251216), and one of the most requested features has been a way to include people's Bitcoin address as a QR code. As I am fine-tuning production details, I would like to giveaway 2 customized keychains on this thread. The customization is done with a laser process, which allows for imaging of a QR code (for your public key, URL, or whatever), any text, logo, combination of these, or any B&W art you can think up (though it cannot have shades of gray or be too intricate).

If you would like a chance at receiving one of the 2 customized keychains, all you have to do is:
1) comment once on this thread
2) have a ship-to address in the USA (sorry everyone else, I'm just trying to keep it simple for now)
3) be ready to submit (via PM) your public key, other QR LINK, text, or your art in vector format tomorrow (Sunday)

I will use Random.org to pick the 2 winners sometime early tomorrow (Sunday, Pacific Time, USA). The giveaway includes the cost to mail the customized keychain to a U.S. address.

If you have any other questions or comments about customized keychains, please PM me. I plan to offer customized keychains for sale to the public soon, but I'm still working on pricing, and finalizing other details. The 2 winners will be part of our limited first test production run, which will hopefully help me dial everything in, and start limited sales.

Thanks!

There's an event on January 15th but it's not a "Meet-Up": Digital LA - Bitcoin: What You, Consumers, Merchants, Developers Need to Know
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/digital-la-bitcoin-what-you-consumers-merchants-developers-need-to-know-tickets-9886252046
Well, it kind of started as a meetup with Elizabeth Ploshay, back in mid-October… http://www.meetup.com/Los-Angeles-Bitcoin/events/146345162/
135  Economy / Economics / Re: Why was USA Senate so friendly to Bitcoin? on: January 02, 2014, 12:19:36 AM
Am I naive to think that the Senate believes that expanded jobs and business based around cryptocurrency technology could be good for the U.S. (lower unemployment, more tax revenue)? And that politicians don't want to see all the business, talent, and capital associated with Bitcoin go to countries with more favorable attitudes? And perhaps they are able to recognize the parallels to the early days of the internet, and the see how well that worked out (for commerce and spying)?
136  Economy / Collectibles / Re: A new 2-sided Bitcoin Keychain on: January 01, 2014, 02:38:14 AM
Very nice! Any thought on the pricing for these potentially?

Thanks for your feedback. I don't want to guesstimate on the custom QR code pricing before I have it solidified. But I hope to have it all figured on in the next 1-2 weeks.

Happy New Year to all!
137  Other / Off-topic / Re: I'm giving away Bitcoin with this Christmas Card on: December 24, 2013, 11:04:10 PM
BitPappa - Excellent thank you very much.

I've just printed off 10 and they look great, very nice additional Christmas gift.

Maybe a good idea to add a donation address as I'm certainly more than willing to contribute for your generosity!

Great, glad to hear it! I'm not looking for donations on this one, the appreciation is payment enough. Besides, we all win if Bitcoin wins! Hopefully this is a grain of sand in the right direciton.
138  Economy / Collectibles / Re: A new 2-sided Bitcoin Keychain on: December 24, 2013, 06:44:47 PM
Awesome!  Can't wait!
While many have asked for a custom QR code, your request may have been what actually got the idea to move forward. So please PM me a public key and a mailing address, and yours will be one of the first I send out (free, as a thanks).
139  Economy / Collectibles / Re: A new 2-sided Bitcoin Keychain on: December 24, 2013, 02:45:43 PM
BitPappa,

I LOVE your product.  I was just wondering if you considered making a run of these with customized QR codes on them?  It would be so incredibly awesome to have a receive address on my keychain.  My friends and I use a lot of crypto-currensies, and I know a bunch of people who would also love this.
Thanks to an idea from NewLiberty on how to economically add custom QR codes to these keychains, this is something that I believe will be happening soon! Stay tuned...

Do You have maybe a psd of it so i can make it Polish one from it ? Smiley
I added a PSD file for the front and for the back in a ZIP (link below), please share if you come up with a Polish version!
http://www.print4bitcoin.com/external/bitcoin-xmas-card-psd.zip

just want to let you know you typed 'know one really knows'' isntead of no one really knows
Thanks, fixed that in the downloadable files

That's a great idea! Can I have one  Sad
Why unhappy face? Try the download! I think it's too late to send you a printed one for Christmas, unless you want to pay the FedEx charges!

I know it's pretty late for most to use this for Christmas, but I will work up a Birthday version too, maybe even print some and offer them for sale. I'm really happy to collaborate, if anyone can figure out ways to improve this.
