Will you be sharing where you are with respect to the 5k goal and how it's dispersed among investors like you did last time (of course I wouldn't expect you to divulge their identities). I'm curious, that's all. Smiley
122  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#1] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! Using JohnK as escrow! FINISHED! on: September 12, 2013, 02:09:25 PM
My payment was from a wallet over which I no longer have control.
I do state, however, that I have retained full rights over my order, having never sold them.

This is exactly why I asked for the addresses. The next step would be to verify the addresses / identities of the people.
123  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#1] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! Using JohnK as escrow! FINISHED! on: September 12, 2013, 01:28:09 PM
I have taken the liberty of setting up a Google form to collect all this information to hopefully facilitate a seamless refund (and take as much workload off John as possible).

I am using this as the frontend for a spreadsheet to track refunds and transfers which will ultimately be used to generate a "sendmany" transaction that John should be able to execute in one command with bitcoind. We will of course check, double, and triple check the transaction when it comes to that point (or leave it to him if he chooses to go a different route) but I'm just trying to put some organization to this chaos in the interest of just putting this all behind us. (I should note that we aren't even sure we'll get a refund so all this may be for naught; but it's better than sitting on our hands).

I apologize to those who have already submitted this information in the thread but as you can imagine, it is pretty impossible to accurately track this stuff on more than 80 pages of forum posts (as well as use this information in a manner to streamline refunds). So please use this link for your refund / transfer information.

I realize that anonymity is of concern, so all fields are optional. It will of course degrade the usefulness of the spreadsheet if you omit fields, but it is ultimately up to you.

In the interest of full disclosure, I should mention that I will of course be sharing the information collected with John K at a minumum. Additionally, BigBenInLondon and / or ryepdx may be helping with the spreadsheet construction (though I think I have it mostly under control). There are some oddities with the amounts (and usernames) that will need to be hashed out; and I may need to enlist the help of one or both of them since I do have a life outside this forum.

Here is the form for refund / chip transfer tracking:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Db9Xx8NYvjnq-Pm7MmuVgWauTP1qSaFRyemI_sa5DkA/viewform

Everyone please take a minute to fill out redphlegm's form and check my spreadsheet to make sure your chip count is accurate.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApT7WUJuJCwMdEhFX2UxbF9Nd0xydmhnUUJiZVBLVlE#gid=1

If redphlegm's form matches the spreadsheet and there is no contention, we should have no problem issuing refunds.

What stops a scammer from filling out this form, listing an accurate amount of chips for someone ELSE, and putting THEIR refund address?

Please think this through guys...

I already thought of this and it will be reconciled.
124  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#1] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! Using JohnK as escrow! FINISHED! on: September 11, 2013, 04:24:33 PM
I sent 15.41 BTC to the escrow. It had a transaction ID of 2567720be282946442cd35e5b75e02171f68069da77208dbcdcdf2b42108.

My refund can be sent to 1GigN3wSTn6JjVgmNrN4fVmPBwz4oVvemT.

Mind filling out the form if you haven't already?

125  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] - Stumptown Miners - Avalon PCB Assembly - West Coast USA on: September 11, 2013, 12:42:38 AM
I'd certainly oblige, if they sell in batches of 10,000 again. There's a possibility they won't this time, since they'll be selling on-hand stock. Then again, they may sell in batches anyway in order to reduce their shipping workload. They're definitely not keen on handling customers directly, that's for sure.

Guess we'll wait and see.

I would be surprised if they changed the 10k minimum order. It's up to you, of course, but it may be worthwhile getting ahead of things and start the process for a group buy. Don't take any funds, of course, but the closer the group is to a completed order, the faster we'll get it once they are released. We would have to make some assumptions, but I think it would be a fair start to assume the same price, same minimum order (10k), and you already have assembly figured out for however many you ordered parts for. Plus, if you get people to commit to the assembly, you can order the required components before the rush (and avoid the problems we ran into last time). Hell, you may even be able to get them cheap with so many people pulling out. Anyway, just a thought. I'm rambling. Smiley
126  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#1] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! Using JohnK as escrow! FINISHED! on: September 10, 2013, 11:44:30 PM
So did I.
Can we view it someplace?

I'm not against sharing it necessarily; but I also want to be sensitive to the information people shared when submitting it. There are some candid comments in the last field and as such, I don't know that it's the best choice to share everything. I can perhaps share a subset of the results. Is there any information anyone shared that they don't want to be shared? PM me if you want to keep the answer private.
127  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#1] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! Using JohnK as escrow! FINISHED! on: September 10, 2013, 08:29:59 PM
So I had some time to dig through the thread, and here is a google doc with my findings.

Find information in the "Sales" sheet.

I think you might have missed that I sent you a PM.
128  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#1] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! Using JohnK as escrow! FINISHED! on: September 10, 2013, 06:48:20 PM
Also, for those curious, I did think of creating a new thread for this so it would all be reflected in the top post but opted not to. I didn't want to open another thread for people who weren't involved in this and potentially open the door for people not in the group buy to sully the form / spreadsheet with erroneous data and submissions. We will still need to be mindful of this, but keeping it in this thread minimizes the chances of that being an issue, I think.

I sold 128 of my chips to bitrocket:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=203388.msg2692039;topicseen#msg2692039

I don't know how John want's to handle this, but wouldn't it be easier to label people as "scammer" if they can't post blockchain proof of payment?

I'm just putting something together to try to track this. Unfortunately, your name isn't on the original spreadsheet, bitrocket. Can you share the original purchase name used on the GDocs spreadsheet? (see the link from post number 1 in this thread).
131  Economy / Securities / Re: [LABCOIN] IPO [BTCT.CO] - Details/FAQ and Discussion (ASIC dev/sales/mining) on: September 10, 2013, 03:10:27 PM
It seems to me, given the history of how this has progressed, that there is a bit of a pattern. I don't know whether to attribute it to benefitting insiders or the less nefarious angle of rewarding those with faith. As the bitcoin community tends to be rather fickle (and let's face it, generally less mature than standard street investing), coddling can get rather tiresome. So make an announcement with little obvious evidence, price temporarily spikes, those who still believe either hold or sell to improve position in the subsequent correction due to no "evidence". Position is improved when buying back a bit lower (don't know what the average time frame is on this but it seems to be within a week of the news) and then shortly thereafter is the evidence. This causes another spike, marginal sustained increase in price floor, and interest wanes again waiting for the next bit of news. Maybe I'm alone here but if I were running things, I would probably care more about getting shit done than I would placating the skeptical investors that are most likely only looking for short-term gains.

Just a casual, and admittedly somewhat unfounded, observation. Feel free to disagree completely. Smiley
132  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] - Stumptown Miners - Avalon PCB Assembly - West Coast USA on: September 10, 2013, 05:15:49 AM
True but at least we don't have to lose 60% of our investment in hardware (boards and parts). It may take a little longer but the production run can continue

Agreed. I'm going to be trying to get 2nd gen chips on my Klondikes, given today's announcement.

Me too and I would love to support you, ryepdx, as a group buy coordinator if you are so inclined to oblige...
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][XPM] CryptoBot Investment Fund [CLOSED] [DAY 11 UPDATE] on: September 09, 2013, 05:55:04 PM
Day 11

Changed the algo a little to prevent that the bot accumulates XPM in downturns and BTC in upturns. This means however that I need to trade bigger to reach profit targets.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Isn't this the same as "buy low, sell high"? Why wouldn't you want to do that and what would you be doing instead?

Sorry if I'm being dense. I just don't really understand what you're saying here.
134  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: XPM PROOFS! The only physical representation of the first scientific crypto! on: September 06, 2013, 04:50:56 PM
Just got my coin yesterday and I have to say I'm quite pleased. I can say that the photos provided so far really don't do it justice. The quality is far above what I expected and greater than I was able to tell from the provided photos. I'm actually going to try to take some high quality pictures (with a high end DSLR and lens) for people to get a better sense of what they're getting. It's a bit pricey, sure, but the novelty and having a part of history is worth it to me.

One thing I would have liked would have been a notary-type raised stamp on the authenticity certificate but that's a small detail really. I'm extremely pleased. Thanks, FbD.

Photos to come in the next few days if all goes well.

Oh, and I can confirm that it was funded with the 11 XPM as promised.

Truly a pleasure doing business with you and I am extremely happy to see your satisfaction with the product! I am looking forward to seeing the photos you take and if it is ok with you, I would love to use yours in the OP and on my site...

Sure, by all means if you are happy with them feel free to use them (when I get them up, of course).
135  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#1] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! Using JohnK as escrow! FINISHED! on: September 06, 2013, 04:23:31 PM
I have a feeling we're past the point of no return given the shipping status for those who ordered around the same time we did. An update from ragin, prodigits, or John would be most valuable at this point (I think John is the only one who can check the shipping status).

What's our potential course of action if our particular group buy majority implements a refund? Is there a way for us to still get chips rather than being pushed to the back of the line? I'd like to see if it's possible to get the miners regardless. The issue that everyone is forgetting about is that it's not profitable at current exchange rates. If you think adoption will increase, so will value. And therefore, what's mined will probably be worth more than current cost. Then again, the argument is that it would be more of a return if you took the refund and just held the BTC.
138  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#1] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! Using JohnK as escrow! FINISHED! on: September 03, 2013, 03:49:58 PM
48 chips abstaining from vote (34 from initial group buy & 14 purchased from ryepdx later).
139  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#1] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! Using JohnK as escrow! FINISHED! on: August 30, 2013, 09:08:08 PM
I will defer my decision depending on what ryepdx wants to do. I think he has a significant amount of sunk cost in this.
140  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#1] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! Using JohnK as escrow! FINISHED! on: August 29, 2013, 06:10:40 PM
Ditto to getting a refund at this point. Odds of break-even are pretty dismal at this point, let alone an ROI. I say we get refunds, and consider doing another order if/when 2gen chips become available.

Between ragin's blatant pissing away of his trustworthiness/reliability, Avalon's failings, customs issues (and potential for even bigger issues when the big day comes), etc, etc.

I say we get out while the gettin's good, before Yifu takes another page from the BFL book, and revokes his offer for refunds.

What about the NRE costs that people like ryepdx incurred and we paid? I'm not opposed to a refund necessarily but (and maybe I'm being too soft here) I don't want the people who stepped up to make all this happen to get screwed. It will only serve as a disincentive to step up for the next deal. It should be something like half of what we spent on this as credit toward next-gen; or simply refund half and still allow us to keep the chips.
