121  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 24, 2024, 01:18:12 PM
Ugly lost by the Suns against the Rockets, they take a early lead, but was not able to sustain it and then the Rockets take a double digit advantage. So it's time for the Suns to climb back and so they did, but they were outlast by the home team.

Bol was instrumental as Nurkic didn't play in this game with 25 points. The Suns could have make it though, and it's a battle of free throws in the last 8 seconds of the game. Booker hits 2, then Jabari on the other end. They fouled Durant, but he missed the first attempt and then had a violation in the second. Fred shoots for the violation but he missed as well. 114-110 for Houston. Lost my bet as I took the Suns -1.5 here.  Angry

Me too; I bet on the Suns with a -3.5 handicap. Because they lost their last game against the Mavs, I think they will try to win this game on the road. The Suns are 6 games away against the 12th-seeded Rockets. So with that, I think the Suns will get this win easily, but that's not what happened. The Suns are getting outrebounded by the Rockets most of the time. I don't know if it's because of the young legs the Rockets have or if the Suns are too tired because it's their back-to-back game and they have no rest. The Suns get the lead in the first quarter, but the Rockets flip the script in the second half. The Suns get it closed in the fourth but fall short in the last seconds.

Nurkic's absence was a major factor in this loss, as the Suns don't have someone to get rebounds and exchange bodies with the Rockets' front court.
122  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever introduced an elder gambler to online betting? on: February 23, 2024, 04:21:32 PM
I was thinking about my past experience with my grandmother when I was still starting in crypto industry and was getting familiar with gambling yet. Since I knew she was a gambling enthusiast (loved slot machines), I tried introducing her to virtual betting, telling it was an accessible and easy method to gamble from home with comfort and easiness.

So I opened a slots website on the laptop and told her to click the touchpad over the roll button, indicated by the arrow on the screen, to start betting. She did it for a while and had some fun when winnings were hit. In the end, I asked her what she thought about the experience and if she would replace the habit of going to physical casino by the virtual one, but she replied that it was too complicated for her to play online, and that she likes the contact with a physical environment where there are physical machines and other people to talk, so she could leave the boredom of staying alone at home to see traffic and flux of people outside the doors.

As you can see, it wasn't only about gambling, but also about interacting with other people inside a real gambling environment, besides the technological experience not being so rewardable when compared to playing at solid, palpable physical machines.

And you, have you ever successfully introduced an elder person to virtual gambling?

I have never tried to introduce online betting or online gambling to someone who is older than me because I don't want people to know that I am gambling. You know, people tend to judge, especially the older ones, that if you are gambling, then automatically you are addicted to it and you are losing your life. I don't want to hear that, so I don't want to introduce it to some older people. Also, some of my older relatives already know about online betting, like my dad, who plays online tongits just to have fun.

As you said, elders tend to love interaction more than gambling itself. It is how they socialize; maybe because of their age, they don't want to spend more time on the phone. They tend to spend their lives socializing and living their life.

That's the reason why most of the traditional gambling games, like cards, cockfights, slots, and many more, are played by the older generations.

123  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you feel excited while gambling on: February 23, 2024, 03:30:51 PM
Of course, in everything we do, we feel something. So, for example, from your point of view, you get too emotional when you bet, and those bets of yours are losing. That's completely okay and normal because you are just a human. You are getting emotional because you are losing something, in this case, money. Money is very valuable to us, so losing it seems very upsetting to most people.

And of course, on the other hand, when you win, you get happy and excited because you are winning. You get happy because you are getting something. Don't overthink it; don't think that you are getting addicted or that your emotions are getting out of hand because of gambling. You are fine; you are a normal human being.

But if you want to be safe, maybe you just need to gamble the amount that you are okay to lose.
124  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you regret also for ever knowing about gambling? on: February 22, 2024, 12:03:12 PM
Yeah you read the question correctly.

I got this taught while involved in discussion with some of my friend today, it was round of friends and we were practically catching up after some old memories in high school so discussion led to discussion and the issue of regretting to ever knowing how to gamble came up and believe me it was a very serious issue as one of my friend was practically blaming the other for the whole problem is currently going through right now as he constantly gambles his money away and at what avail? was the question being asked to the friend who actually inviting him to a gambling house during highschool. The matter looks childish  at first because the whole table of friends there were all gamblers including myself but we all never reached the height of complaining or blaming someone for our gambling ethics.

So I was wondering if some folks here too feel the same way or it was just a matter of grudge and hatred for the particular fellow to stir up such arguement.

By the way, the fact that he blamed one of your friends because of his misfortune is really a red flag for me, and it shows what kind of person he is. If you are going to dive into gambling, you should know the risks that are waiting for you, and for him, he should be aware. We can say that he is still immature because he was still in high school when he was introduced to gambling. But years have passed, and you still gamble even without the presence of his friend? I think the problem is within him because, as a grown man with responsibilities, he should know the limits when gambling.

We should not blame anyone when we are trying things because, at the end of the day, we are still the ones who make our own decisions.
125  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don’t play gambling with drugs or in half sleep on: February 22, 2024, 11:39:33 AM
Drugs and gambling—what a weird combination of habits your friend has. I mean, I do get his point about using drugs to make him numb when gambling so he won't hesitate on staking, but still, you need to have a clear mind so you can decide what is the right thing to do when gambling. He might not be addicted to gambling, but he might be on drugs. If he continues using drugs, whether he gambles or not, he might end up using them more than just for gambling. You need to watch him more because of that.

My friend also added when he had huge winning in the night games without drugs,he had an habit of playing the gambling at the earning morning after wake up.It doesn’t mean an addiction,it was his dedication towards the game.

If it is not addiction, he is on the way there. He is on the border of having fun with gambling and being addicted to gambling. Even though we get lucky at gambling early in the morning, it is not advisable to do it every day. It might cause you health issues if you consistently do it, especially if you have not gotten enough sleep.
126  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Making too many picks reduces chances of winning. on: February 21, 2024, 03:16:17 PM
This is due to the fact that we won't be able to analyze all the games carefully that are in our ticket and won't have the advantage needed to win. So instead, it's recommended that we should value quality over quantity if we want to succeed in sports betting.

Yes, I agree with what you said here. We tend to overanalyze when we bet too much, and with that, we tend to lose if we are not sure about our bet. Also, I just want to add that if we bet too much, then we tend to bet too much money as well. What if those bets lose at the same time? Then you lost a lot of money. So I think betting on fewer picks is much better.

Also, single betting is much better than parlay betting because in a single bet, the chances are 50/50, 50% of winning and 50% of losing. So for me, it is much more advisable to bet fewer single bets. If you can bet one single bet per day, then it is much better because if you win, which is good, but if not, then it is fine because you just bet once a day.

127  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction causes loss on: February 21, 2024, 02:20:49 PM
I had a friend in the gambling circle,he was gambler addicted person over a year.I had advised him many times, but he is not ready to accept my advice in the gambling.Apart from gambling,my friend accept my advice without any hesitation. When I had a time on weekend,I get a chance to meet him in personal.I had some question about his gambling addiction, but the sad part is he is not accepted his gambling addiction towards the gambling site.

He said that he had nearly 64k dollars as a loss in the gambling site.In order to recover that 64k dollars,he keeps on betting from all his economic resources.I had advice him to use only 20 percentage of salary to get away from entire gambling loss. But he is now repeating the same 100 percentage of income from weekly, biweekly and monthly. So he was in the big loan problem.Still he is arranging funds from loan to play gambling, because he think that the recovery was possible at the place where he lost his money. What will be your suggestion for my friend to recover from the gambling addiction.

It is really frustrating to see someone that you are close with who is addicted to something (as for your friend, gambling) and cannot escape his addiction. I think what he needs is the realization that what he is doing is making his life worse. Let him do what he wants, let him gamble all the money he has, and let him realize what he is doing in his life. Just remember that your help is worthless if the one that you are helping is not helping himself. Let himself realize what he has done; he just needs that breaking point in his life, and when that happens, he needs to restart his life, and you, as a friend, should be there for him and always be there, not financially but physically and emotionally.

Also, make him stay away from gambling for a long time; don't make him trigger himself to gamble again.
128  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pay off DEBT by do Gambling? think again before you loss more on: February 20, 2024, 11:32:25 AM
I have a hanging out friend who is having trouble paying his house installments, he wanted to borrow money from me but I didn't give it to him because I didn't have the amount he was borrowing at that time, I advised him to borrow from another friend but their answer was still the same, finally, he was a little desperate and with the little money he had he put the money into the online slot application, unfortunately, instead of succeeding in doubling his money, he lost all his money because he lost in the online slot application

The valuable message that can be taken from my friend above is never take risks to gamble to pay off your debts, the pressure is very big, the chance is very small that you can pay off your debts, often you end up losing even more and losing your money. look for loans, sell your valuables or look for part-time work to pay off your debts, is a good way rather than playing the small money you have in gambling

I think paying off debt through gambling is achievable if that individual is consistently receiving money, like a monthly salary or something like that, or any cash flow that he or she is consistently receiving. If he or she does have that, then the next step is to budget that money. For example, 5% of that money is for paying the debt, and the other 5% is for gambling. That 5%, he or she will try to gamble it and hopes to make it 3x more so it can be paid for the debt.

I think the problem with your friend is that he is not receiving consistent money to supply his daily needs and wants, and as a result, he cannot handle his debts because he is barely living, and that is the worst. In that situation, I think he needs to let go of gambling and try to find another source of income or side hustle. By working, he can pay off his debts without much risk because he is working and not gambling.
129  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Anyone +18 Play Gamble? on: February 20, 2024, 11:08:35 AM
It doesn't really matter if you are an experienced gambler or a newbie when you are already in the range of +18. +18 is already mature in some countries, so I think online casinos or betting sites know that if you are 18 and above, you can make your own decisions and you are a grown-up human. They have nothing to do with you, whether you lose a lot or not. As long as you comply with their terms and conditions, you are good.

But if you are a newbie, of legal age, and want to try gambling, You should not rush yourself into gambling; maybe use a little bit of money so you can get the feel of gambling, then try to communicate and be friends with other gamblers so you can learn what you should and should not do when gambling. Lastly, be responsible when gambling.
130  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think gambling every day is better? on: February 19, 2024, 08:09:27 AM

He said when you keep trying luck every day you stand the chance not to miss your luck of winning,

Well, your friend does have a point. You miss 100% on shots you don't take, so why not gamble and try every day? But the problem with this one is that, what if every time he or she gambles, he or she loses? Like, for example, he or she gambles for 5 straight days, and all of that is a loss? Isn't it heartbreaking for your friend? Does he or she still want to continue if it is always like that? That technique is good if he or she only gambles small amounts and it doesn't affect him or her financially. It is a different conversation if he or she bets a large amount and keeps on losing.

It really depends on the person's ways of gambling and how he or she manages his or her finances. If your friend earns a lot of money, then gambling every day is a good technique for him or her.
131  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 19, 2024, 07:39:35 AM

Allstar game is 1 word? LAME!
We have now reached a new low point in my opinion.
They don't even play D in the 4th quarter anymore.

Just watched 20min of "highlights" on youtube, but there weren't any. Well the 2 half court shots by Dame were nice, that's it.
At least Steph, Luke and the Joker were somewhat entertaining, especially with the Joker missing dunks and laughing with Luka.

But the rest, cherry picking dunks/layups and 3s 3s 3s. All they do is shooting 3s. So boring. You can tell that the audience was also kind of sleeping as some point.
Of course it' supposed to be entertaining with very low intensity but this level really is nothing worth watching anymore. In the past it was so much fun to watch this game but now the multi millionaire ballerinas just don't care about this even.  Cry

I agree; this all-star is kind of boring. I mean, some of the past few stars have been boring too, but this one is on another level. Everyone is spamming threes and does not play defense. Especially for the East, in the early part of the game, West was trying to play some D and run some plays, but East kept on shooting threes, and from that point on, West gave up, and it is now a battle of threes. It is like you are watching pick-up games, but the difference is that the NBA players are the ones who play. Some of the players don't even try, like Luka and Jokic. I don't know if they just want to risk getting injured or if they just don't want to play.

The NBA should make a move on how they can save this dying NBA All Star. They actually did a great job in 2019 and 2020, but after that, the trajectory of the NBA All Star is on a downward trend again.

I think the NBA should put money in the All-Star game, like they did in the In-Season Tournament. This might change the players mindset when playing the All-Star game.
132  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: February 18, 2024, 02:58:12 PM
With the NBA All-Stars coming within the next few hours, what is your bet?

Mine is WEST ALL-STARS -3

The West vs. East format in the All-Star game is back after several years of using the Team Captain format. West is the heavy favorite to win this game. West is loaded with talents, with LeBron leading the way, Luka and Shai at the backcourt, and Durant and Jokic as forward and center. Before doing the Team Captain format, West is dominating the All-Star with a record of 6-2 against the East since 2010 up to 2017. With that, I think the West All Stars can win this all the way.
133  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you gamble because you don't have sufficient money? on: February 18, 2024, 02:12:17 PM
It really depends on the person you are asking. Some see it as leisure or just entertainment; some see it as a new way of earning income; or some are just really addicted to it. One of my friends sees gambling as a side hustle; he is not that much of a gambler; he just bets a small amount of his money and or just bets sometimes when he needs money. Lucky for him, he is winning (sometimes, lol). But for me, it doesn't really matter if you are rich, poor, or middle class; if you want to gamble, then go; no one will judge you. If it makes you happy or gives you money, no problem. Everyone has the right to gamble. Just be a responsible gambler and do not ruin your life by getting addicted to it. It is much harder to recover all your losses if you let your emotions control you.
134  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who should quit, and why? on: February 17, 2024, 08:30:06 AM
Hey house someone need a few clips here, don't know if a post of this exact nature has been discussed though.

In a situation where the both spouse are gamblers. Husband gambles, wife gambles, how can both of them manage the situation in terms of finance and the family affairs especially when children are now involve so that the time both spends on gambling doesn't affect family moments and affairs in general.

Would it help if  one of the couple quit for the other and if that's the case who should quit for who.

That kind of setup is really hard because both of them are gamblers. What if both of them lost on the same day? Then the mood in the house will not be good, and it will be really hard for both of them to take care of or mend each other because both of them are down and sad. Also, they have children. I think at that point in life, you need to stop gambling already because you are raising a child. It would be okay if they didn't have kids, but they do. So I think at least one of them should stop gambling so they can minimize the risk that they have when gambling. But it would be better if both of them would stop; it will cause harm to the family if they continue gambling and continue to lose every time.

135  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 17, 2024, 08:08:37 AM
Since he didn't selected, Domantas Sabonis made crazy triple-double averages. He made 18 triple-doubles this season. It's really ridiculous that he wasn't selected. If he played for a Los Angeles team, he would have been selected. When you're in Sacramento, it's tough.

I hate this narrative that people always keep on saying. I mean, Domantas deserves to be an All-Star, but why is it always going to be against the Lakers? Why Anthony Davis? Anthony is having a great season; he deserves to be an All-Star too. He is taking care of himself and doesn't miss games that much compared to his past few seasons. Also, he is arguably the best player in the Lakers right now based on how he plays.

And looking at the standings, the "winning" Sacramento Kings are just one win away from the "losing" Lakers. Also, all-star reserves are voted for by the head coaches of the NBA teams and not fans, so if Domantas is playing for the Lakers or any Los Angeles team, I think it wouldn't matter because fans are not the ones who are voting for the reserves.

If we are going to compare Domantas to any of the All-Stars right now, I think it should be KAT. For me, Domantas should've replaced KAT. Towns is inconsistent most of the time, and I think he became an all-star because of his 62-point game against the Hornets and because they are number one in the West.
136  Other / Off-topic / Re: Having a regular/steady income is important as a gambler. on: February 16, 2024, 02:44:54 PM
Yes, you are right. To gamble, you need to have a steady income or a steady cash flow. But it does not mean that you earn money; you have the right to gamble. It still depends on how much money you make because you still have priorities that you need to settle, like house, electricity, internet, and water. Also, you need to budget your wants and the food too.

If you are earning a lot of money, then most likely you can gamble some of your money, but just be careful and set an amount that you are willing to lose when gambling, and also don't be greedy when gambling. You might use all your money when you let greed overtake you.

But if you are just earning enough to live, then maybe gambling is not for you, or maybe you need to find a side hustle that can support your gambling.
137  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 16, 2024, 01:42:22 PM
Wow, the Bucks.
The coaching change really did them dirty, well deserved.
Now they even lose against a Memphis team that "competes" with a 9 man (mostly bench players or even GLeague type players) rotation and has an injury list with 10 players, basically all their stars.

How can you even go from here if you are Milwaukee??
Can it actually happen and they fire Doc Rivers after just a few games? That would be hilarious!!

I don't think Bucks would fire Doc because of what is happening to them right now. I think Doc should take the blame alone; some of the players too should be responsible for what is happening. Dame has not been the same player he was last season; I don't know if it's the off-court issues that have been causing this performance of his or if he is struggling to run the offense of Doc Rivers's game plan. Or he just wanted to be traded to the Heat LOL  Grin Cheesy Also, Brook Lopez has been missing in action in the past few games. Giannis is carrying this team on his back.

Props to the Grizzlies, though; they are still winning despite having a few players playing for them. It has been several games that they are upsetting teams.
138  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: You can not win if you do not risk on: February 15, 2024, 04:35:50 PM
Gambling is already a risk because you do not know if there is a guaranteed win whenever you bet on something. So it is a risk; it just really depends on how much you are willing to gamble. If you are gambling with too much money, like, for example, 30% of your salary, then it is risky for you since you are betting that much money. If you are gambling with money that you are okay to lose, then it is fine.

But you are correct: sometimes you need to take a risk on gambling in order to have a lot of money; it is either high odds with a low bet or a high bet with low odds. Either way, if you are a risk-taker, then go for it; if not, then continue playing safe in gambling.
139  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 15, 2024, 03:09:40 PM
What can you say about the news that Golden State tried to trade for LeBron before the trade deadline? Also, it says that Draymond Green texted Rich Paul (LeBron's agent) if there is some way he can encourage or recruit Bron to go to GSW. This trade would pair LeBron and Steph Curry with the Warriors. If this happened, I don't really know if they would still be deadly as a duo. I know that both of them are still playing great this season. LeBron James is still averaging his usual numbers, and he is on the way to his 20th All-Star appearance. Same goes with Steph; he is still knocking down threes and carrying Golden State at his back. But if this happened way back in their prime years, this duo would be deadly. We all know LeBron loves having teammates that can knock down threes, and Steph is smooth playing with anybody; just look at KD when he was still in the Warriors; all of them are having their time on the court.

If that trade happens, the world will be in shock.

They probably offered something ridiculous for him just to give the Lakers a chance to dump salary and avoid LeBron causing an offseason media fest with his decision about free agency.

The 76ers also reached out to trade for Durant, Booker, or Beal. You can give them credit for trying, but none of those deals were ever going to happen.
These offers made the think that there must be crazy things going on behind close doors. These rumours are just the ones somehow got leaked. To me, Lebron in GSW seems impossible and would never fit for anyone, not for Lebron or Warriors. 76ers reaching out to Durant or Booker also seems crazy. How would that even work? I may be oldschool but I liked the days these kinds of stars were just franchise players. Teams with multiple superstars kinda killing it for me. It started with Lebron going to Miami actually. I hope these things woul never happen again.

I think lakers would not want that to happen since imagine how huge the market of Lebron and if they let this trade to happen then I guess there's a lot will be lose on their side. This discussion maybe didn't proceed since they cut this idea about possible landing of Lebron to GSW and this one just came out late since maybe some media just want to clickbait people to hype their article. I would say its impossible for Lebron to land in GSW knowing how big the asset would La ask in return and for sure they would ask lots of player which I think not really worth it especially Lebron is at the peak of his career and anytime he would provably announce his retirement.

I think LeBron is on a player option for next year, so teams could get him for nothing after this season. He’s also planning to play with Curry in the next Olympics… I never thought LeBron to Golden State was a possibility but after reading all the news today I think it could realistically happen. They’d just need to draft Bronny.

I think LeBron will still be committed to the Lakers. Even though these past few days he has been teasing the Lakers by posting that time emoji "⌛" and flirting with the Knicks by wearing Knicks colorway shoes and wearing and using a Knick towel in one of his interviews when they faced the New York Knicks at the Garden.

Also, there is news that the Lakers are trying to find a way to draft Bronny in this upcoming draft to see if this will make James happy. The Lakers still prioritize Lebron James' happiness; if I were the Lakers, I would do the same. It is once in a lifetime to have one of the best players in basketball play for your organization, so you will do everything to make him happy.

If the Lakers ever reach the Western Conference Finals again, or maybe the Finals and win the championship, there is a chance that James will still be a Laker next season.

Also, next off-season, the Lakers are eyeing these free agents to come and play with LeBron and AD. Those players are Donovan Mitchell, Dejounte Murray, Kyrie Irving, and even Trae Young. If the Lakers ever get one of these players, then most likely James will stay.
