221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What course can one study in university that can build potential in bitcoin? on: January 01, 2024, 07:51:04 PM
AFAIK Bitcoin developers aren't get paid at all, anyone can make a contribution, but you won't earn any money, so how you can say it's a potential?
hmm I think what OPs trying to say is that, if there is one course in college that one can study what it is that they may get interested in bitcoin. So probably it is any course that is related to technology, software development and finance.

If you study about information system, computer science, etc you might become a blockchain developer, but you're high likely will work about altcoins instead of Bitcoin.
Yeah, this is what I thought the OP is concerned but after reading it carefully I understand what he means with his question. We can't study anything in the university to work on bitcoin or apply to bitcoin miners haha.

Taking economy or business degree mostly help you to understand about money management, it's really less or nothing to discuss about Bitcoin.
The most accurate course that one can study to understand bitcoin is finance generally because it is all about money.
222  Economy / Economics / Re: Wealthy people want profit without much of liabilities so you should follow them on: January 01, 2024, 07:28:16 PM
I don't think I need to follow the rich people; maybe the only thing I can adopt from the rich is the positive mindset they have. Maybe that's all.
It is important to know that we do have our own path in life, in business, personal, career, finance, love life and so in. So we don't need to follow anyone in life, but one thing I learned in finance is that successes can be duplicated, I'm not saying we need to replicate every billionaire's people steps that they took, but we should take a look at how they did the steps, simply the rules they follow and some words from them, in short their mindset while doing the work they have founded. However, it is not also wrong to follow people you admire (not literally) if they inspire you to do great things then so be it.

223  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the perception of people about gamblers in your neighborhood? on: January 01, 2024, 06:22:57 PM
In the past, I recall, people thought of gamblers as irresponsible individuals. If a parent witnessed their son's friend gambling, they would counsel their son to break up with the friend to avoid instilling bad gambling habits in their sons.
This is the most common perception of normal people, or should I say non-gambler people about gamblers. They think us of as irresponsible, undisciplined, money wasters, and a lot of negative descriptions. Well, maybe, because there are a lot of productive thing to do instead of gambling but I guess the time has totally changes where gambling becomes a normal routine for most of people these days, and gambling doesn't mean playing on casino it's all in different forms.

These days, that view has completely changed, with our parents no longer believing that gambling is a negative thing for their above-18 children to engage in because they have heard stories of people who have earned millions from gambling with small-stake bets.
I got my gaming laptop out of crypto casino and yes it is from small bet, my mother know it and was proud of getting it. So yeah, it's been different now compare back then.
224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The frustrations in loosing a huge bet when your winning was so assured. on: December 30, 2023, 09:25:43 PM
Sometimes our own overconfident becomes harmful to us.  Especially when it comes to gambling. We have to keep in mind that gambling depends entirely on luck and results can go either way at any time.  It has happened to me many times that I lost a huge amount of bets due to over confidence while playing blackjack
Being overconfident should have a basis, I am experiencing it, but without a basis of having confidence then it was nothing but just a pure wish. Gambling is about luck, yes I can agree with that, but sometimes probability and statistics says what could be on the next turn or next face of the die. Playing blackjack  is a game of instinct and luck, I would be over confident in that game if I already have high pairs on that game, the rest is just a pure luck results.
225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying and Losing My First Bitcoin on: December 30, 2023, 07:47:20 PM
I was mislead by the first sentence " Bitcoin is completely illegal in my country.." I'm not sure if you are referring to it as now or in 2017 but I'm pretty sure it wasn't banned that year, not even a single country would ban it coz it is powerless, I could say, that time not until it exploded that year as well. Buying my first bitcoin got me a giggle, it is memorable how the bitcoin stored in your wallet. I remember using a local e-wallet that stores bitcoin that time, and it really felt like you are ahead of the majority of people coz you are storing a money on different form and it is not a 'digital' or 'wired money.
226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: December 30, 2023, 06:42:57 PM
Avoiding gambling in front of my children or any other teenagers is the most crucial rule I follow. if kids witness us gambling, they can be motivated to do the same. In my opinion. due to their youth and immaturity, it could negatively affect their future. Kids always tends to follow their elders. So I don't want my kids to catch up my bad habits.

Another post without any proof. Kid saw you eat broccoli, based on you logic, the kid will also taste and eat it. And become super healthy, as he is eating vegetables of vitamins. But in reality, kid wont eat it, and would rather eat fries or pasta.
Without proof? how can someone give you a proof like this? what @goxcraft meant based on his example is an analogy. And to tell you, there is type of learning called observational learning or social learning. Your kid won't be able to open the door if he didn't see you open that door.

All those who say “kid will do everything parents do” either dont have kids, or dont know their kids, or follow some life standarts of elder generetion.
It doesn't necessarily mean that everything we do, our kids will do also. BUT most of the time, they always from what we do, what we say and what we teach them.

What negative affect would kids have? You have mentioned that. Please dont say addiction. Be more original. Those who gamble not always are addicted.
I'm not sure if you hate the guy who you are replying with  Huh even me I can't think of a negative effect on a kid directly if he sees his parents gamble than increased in gambling problem to a kid in the future, but surely there will be a negative effect on that family, more probably financial consequences.

If gambling is bad - why you gamble? Why you show bad example for everyone around you?  Grin
There's nothing wrong saying bad examples or bad effects of gambling, because it is true at the end of the day.
227  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto investment vs real estate investment : Which one more dependable? on: December 30, 2023, 06:10:36 PM
You should be the one to make that decision yourself.
Yeah that's why he asked us coz he wants to hear our sentiment about these things. He said his friend introduced the real estate so I guess he's having second thoughts on where he should put his money.

If you don't make the right choice, you might end up losing almost everything, and most times everything, especially when you invest in the wrong coin. If you are also lucky enough to invest in a coin that gets a positive price pump after you invest in it, then you will be smiling with the profit you are going to get.
that's what investment all about. It's not always generating profit, sometimes it can be your downfall. But with crypto, there are a lot of ways to generate an income like spot trading for safe and slow, futures trading for quick profit/loss and many more. These two investments are risky but if you handle it well and making a good decision you'll probably double it in short period of time.

So the choice is yours. If the capital is large enough, I will advise you to invest some in crypto and others in real estate. Having a diversified portfolio helps a lot.
He said below $2500, so I guess he needs more funds on real estate? not sure tho, but on this fund it is high suggested to go with crypto.
228  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: In The Span Of six months what will make you trust a new casino on: December 30, 2023, 05:09:18 PM
For me,  six months is still very small to know the real character pf a new project,  we should give the mat least a year or two to be able to see their true colour because of a casino really mean to manipulate their ways,  their could go for six months faking things and bringing in all the mentioned characteristics, but at the end could still end up as scam and most times those kind of casino will just do a exit scam on their loyal customers.
Against the tide, for me my minimum trust for a casino is being good for that duration, if you used their site for 6 months very smoothly or if you encountered an error or problem and they fixed it as early as they see it then they have got my trust on their site and their team. I know casinos are subject for us to be skeptic because it is all about money, but some are just starting out truthfully and in 6 months they can prove themselves just all right.

We have seen a few of them who exitbitied such characteristics here in the forum for a while now,  so for that, it will only take a long time of proves and actions to really call a casino as reputable or ve able to trust them.
Yeah, complaints after complaints but who are we to judge? if it turned out that a complaint has been resolve it shouldn't count as negative review.
229  Economy / Economics / Re: India is the new economic leader of global south. And replacement for China?... on: December 29, 2023, 08:01:28 PM
I disagree op. China is imploding for sure thanks to their real estate crisis and other factors, but they are still way ahead of India in several key areas. Their productivity per labour is also higher in comparison.
Way too far for India to catch up. The population directly contributes to a country's economy, China and India is the first and second country on the list respectively, imagine you got potentially billions of manpower surely your economy will explode. China despite migrating tech companies, I think it is hard to surpass them in terms of economy.

India's GDP outpaced China's GDP recently and keeps growing slowly and steadily, but that by itself isn't enough to replace the current leader of Asia.
These countries are dynamic, I believe in slow and steady but China has been pumping their economy way far than we can imagine, they prepared for this era. India's potential economic growth is foreseaable, surpassing China in short term is possible as well but they need sustained efforts from every key areas.
230  Economy / Economics / Re: The steps to follow in creating a budget on: December 29, 2023, 07:02:04 PM
Sometimes people make budgeting as if one needs a rocket science degree in order to do it right. I think budgeting is very simple. It's probably just a matter of common sense.
I agree, people these days be freestyling their daily budget as if they are just picking up their money on the floor. Budgeting should be realistically set using the common sense, living without a daily budget is like living in borrow time.

Avoid an unnecessary lavish life. That's it. If you are still having a hard time budgeting what you have despite living a simple life, then that means you need to find ways to increase your income. Now, that's probably the harder and complicated part.
Diversifying is the best way to counter or align your budget, do not settle for one source of income, try to explore more rooms where you can generate profit even it is a small business or lesser income than your main source. I don't think it is hard to find, well maybe it is at first but once you find it, you can prolong it or best you can add more to it. Luxury these days doesn't apply to all, if you can't afford don't buy it, it is a very simple logic.
231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How many hours is the best time for a gambler to last while gambling? on: December 29, 2023, 05:58:43 PM
I just keep wondering what if we set time for the duration we are to use while gambling and yet the time elapsed but we are not yet satisfied or done with gambling, what are we going to do, should we follow the time frame stipulated or we should continue with gambling till we are satisfied or done for the day, if i will give my own suggestions, we should not be limited to how we are going to gamble as long as we are in position to do so.
But then it would be a total nonsense setting yourself an allowed time for you to gamble in the first place if you will follow it. The practice of giving yourself, or limiting yourself on gambling is part of your self discipline which you set to yourself, even if you are in a position to continue gamble because that's where the addiction starts. Remember no gambler have been addicting to losing, it's always  the winning part of it, so I think it is a good idea to limit yourself and try to spend other time on different things. Or maybe try gambling on sports, just bet and watch, it's relaxing and thrilling at the same time trust me.
232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What gives high winning percentage for you, spread or total? on: December 29, 2023, 05:04:58 PM
For me I mostly win on total over/under, I think this is the highest chances of winning among the all the possible bet you could place. Like on NBA, I depend the starting players statistics to anticipate the total, last 5 or 10 matches scores and player injuries, I don't know but if I see fit I always put a bet on it. I think the spread doesn't apply to NBAA especially on pre-matches, teams be winning on 10 deficits and pre-matches will likely to give you -4.5 spread. Sometimes I solo bet on live matches since it is hard to set up a parlay during live matches and odds are changing during those times.
233  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What will be your trading strategy for crypto in 2024? on: December 27, 2023, 07:15:27 PM
I'd probably be changing my trading strategy, I've had a lot of failures this year honestly. What I'll be doing in the next year is to focus on top 10 coins in the market, I will stay away from the altcoins or those that are on the second page of the market, I hated that I focused on them too hard this year. I will try to recalibrate my strategy, perhaps I'll listen to more experienced than me and I'll never to go against the trend, I'm being too wishful thinker this year and I would like to discipline more myself. Trading is a non-ending learning process, we all must adapt to ever changing current state of the market.
234  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does casino streamers have influence in your gambling life? on: December 27, 2023, 05:57:51 PM
I used to be very influenced by streamers and try to be influenced by celebrity I like. But I am now back from that position. One thing I noticed very well is that the streamers try to attract gamblers in various ways just because they get money.
Most of gambling influencers and streamers are paid by the website or the casino company they are working with, there is just no point of streaming or influencing others if it is not for their self interest. There are a lot of people in social media who advertise gambling by recording themselves winning in a single spin on slot machine, funny how those advertisement keep going in going for months, meaning they are attracting people using those dumbass ads.

But I've got to be honest, sometimes when I see ads of gambling I know it affects me subliminally and in no time, you'll see me on my phone playing baccarat or slot haha!
235  Economy / Economics / Re: Why must you used such money to purchased a car? on: December 27, 2023, 05:20:27 PM
If he bought that car from his $40 million, we can call him stupid if its from a $500 million money that he owns, I can say that he probably deserve to spend on that kind of luxury. We can call him out for buying such a fancy and luxurious car, it is pretty easy but the process he went through is not easy unless it is from the lottery. Personally, I would not buy such car that would cost me millions, prolly not even on 100 grand, I'd settle myself on a simple sports car or family car that could take me from point A to point B. If I were to spend luxury, I'd be spending it to my home so everyone on my family can enjoy every bits of it.
236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jamie Dimon said he would close Bitcoin down if he was in government on: December 27, 2023, 04:42:46 PM
They are absolutely NOT losing out in the "transaction business", it's laughable because don't you see how
small Bitcoin's TPS is? It's not a threat to the banksters. But what they're probably afraid of is the socio-political uses of cryptography and how it could be a tool for social change, AND Bitcoin is the most-used cryptographic tool in existence. The more users it has, the bigger problem it will be socially and politically for them.

Buy the DIP and HODL.

Bitcoin at its current state, is not a threat to the banksters. But with scaling improvements (L2, sidechains, etc) it will. BTC's decentralized and open source nature should be a "red flag" for banks' very existence. That's why they're doing everything in their power to minimize its usage worldwide. Banks won't be able to defeat Bitcoin, but at least they will stay relevant for generations. As long as people use Fiat more than Bitcoin, nothing else matters.
Bitcoin and its technology is a foreseeable threat to the bank, not the way it was built but the idea of the bitcoin itself. See how the blockchain propagates in the recent years, and people keep coming with new projects on crypto upscaling and bringing the bars high. With the generation of us living in the internet? I don't think bank can keep up with the decentralized technology as people are getting more exclusive now.

I believe Jamie Dimon's comments are nothing more than pure FUD. He could be secretly buying and holding BTC for the "big pump". The same can be said about Sen. Elizabeth Warren. They want to plunge BTC's price to buy it at a discount. Deep down, they know it's impossible to shut it down forever. Either you live with it, or be left behind in the dust. Just my thoughts Grin
Just a FUD, we had this numerous times already yet we don't know if he is one of those whales pumping and dumping sh*t on his laptop.
237  Economy / Economics / Re: Idea and money are very important to investment. on: December 26, 2023, 04:53:20 AM
Both idea and money are needed to establish a good business. Alot of people are out there with good business idea but lack capital to finance it. Also having money without an idea may lead to venturing into a business where one may lose all the money. It's good to have the two before starting a business. Also, having an idea with money doesn't guarantee a fruitful business, one must analyse the idea, make a good plan and a reasonable environment for the idea to make a way with such idea.

Before starting a business, it is necessary to have both the idea and the money, and someone who can manage both is needed. In some cases, even if these two are provided, they are not managed correctly.
Idea, money, and skills. You can't have just the idea, all of us can produce exceptional business ideas. You can't just have the money and idea the business will certainly fall apart if you only have this. Starting a business may seem so easy with money and idea but then here comes the reality of not having the skills to run and manage the business. This is where most of small to medium businesses cripples. Sadly, there are many ideas and skills that went to waste because of lack of means.

In addition to what you said, all details should be considered, plans should be made and work should be started. Precautions to be taken against negative situations should be determined in advance and plans should be made for what is needed to expand the business.
There is so much planning involve in starting a business, there' a market  research, business modelling, financial plan, etc. All aspiring businessmen should know all of it and how to execute these things. Plus the plan if things isn't going as expected, very crucial in deicion making for every businesses around the world with high competition in the market.
238  Economy / Economics / Re: Blockchain fiat Currency on: December 25, 2023, 10:03:20 PM
Remember not every blockchain is transparent and I don't think they would share their code to public, my assumption the government might use a private blockchain, similar like the current old banking system where no one can view it except the employees.
Yeah government doesn't have to be transparent at all times, although it is our money from taxes whom they are spending with. There are confidentialities as well included from those funds, and who would calculate it?needless. I think the stability in the world is not achieveable given the fact that we have our own government and differences.

It's not going to happen to see a currency backed with physical commodity because the government can't make a lot money. They will issue CBDC that they can mint out of thin air and make money from it.
They already answered it with CBDC but it is not the answer to OP.

The best solution to make sure there's no corruption is never trust in centralization i.e. any countries are full of corruption.
The only solution to corruption is transparency and the governing people, I don't think there's more than half people in the government who is faithful to their people and country, unfortunately politics is at mud played by oldies.
239  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which one did you use to gamble with more on: December 25, 2023, 09:27:31 PM
Betting before matches starts seems a bit dangerous for sports betting, I don't feel like the handicaps are real anymore after consecutive losses from the past months. I'm placing my bets on mid game on live matches because you can see the actual team there, their play, injury reports, live handicaps, etc. I always bet on NBA, and I can say that live betting is way more exciting than betting on pre-matches, if you know you know.

I've got an issue with ESPN on news about the every team injury reports, it seems like it is not accurate anymore, do you guys have other channels for this one? trying to bet on a live match.
240  Economy / Economics / Re: Will they ever be able to afford a house? on: December 25, 2023, 09:07:02 PM
Yeah right now it’s very tough for that generation. If they don’t already own a home, getting one is simply far fetched, with record breaking home prices and decade high interest rates.
Yeah pretty hard for us, imagine land has gone up to 10x from the city and double from the provinces, so basically the best option for us in the near future is to live in the province with a pretty simple life with the opportunities waiting there. We have a slow paced economy, so I'll be in province when I retire, perhaps that is the most ideal for an old man  aight?

The issue is worse because rents are up and along with inflation for everything else so people get to save less, they save less and they will never safe up for the down payment to get a mortgage. Hence why most are stuck renting forever.
Inflation in my country is continuously increasing, today it is up to 6% what more in the coming years? I don't want to rent forever please...
