121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TOKEN SALE - Gladius Network [GLA] - DDoS Protection On The Blockchain on: February 17, 2018, 05:47:47 PM
Why is Etherdelta showing no volume?  I keep seeing the bids are higher than the asks, at some points, but nothing is being executed?  Are the token locked or something?

122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Charlie Lee Regards Litecoin Cash as a Scam and Warns Investors To Act Carefully on: February 15, 2018, 07:55:48 PM
I get that he wants to protect his brand, but Isn't LiteCoin an unauthorized fork of Bitcoin?  Pretty hypocritical at this point to start warning people about the dangers of forks...   Grin
123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin fork! on: February 14, 2018, 10:23:33 PM
Charlie Lee is trying to protect his "brand" ... understandable.  But these forks generally are not supported by or liked by the main chain developers, so it's not surprising he is calling it a scam.  It probably is an attempted cash grab.

It's too bad the devs can't or don't "trademark" their names, so we don't have "Bitcoin Gold", or "Monero V", or "Litecoin Cash".  Some of the forks would not be so bad if they were not an obvious attempt at name recognition ... some of the renegade forks actually have some decent ideas behind them.  Just give it a new name ... there is a new forked coin of Ethereum Classic coming soon called "Callisto".  That's how it should be.  If you are going to steal the code and the blockchain history, at least come up with a new name.
124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: beware DeepOnion is lying to community on: February 13, 2018, 06:58:35 PM
Oh yes its a signature campaign which also requires you to buy $500 of onions to qualify.  And they call it an airdrop, pathetic..

You should know, though, that for the initial months of their airdrop, they did give out the Onions free.  After week 16, I think, they switched to a holders airdrop format ... it’s similar to what byteball did, switching to a format where their airdrops were only for holders.  I think they found that too many people were entering the airdrop and dumping ... so they wanted to reward to the holders and people with “skin in the game”.
125  Other / Meta / Re: The reason that Merit is working.... on: February 12, 2018, 07:27:18 PM
For a counter point, I offer this guy.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1178404;sa=showPosts

I threw him a merit today for answering a question I had ... until then, he had zero merit above the 10 he was given as a member.

I went back and looked at a couple pages of his post history, and found him knowledgeable, intelligent, helpful to others, and communicated well in English although he lists India as his home country....

He’s also a few activity points short of full member ... But will be months away from ranking up at this pace... He’s not what I would consider a one-line shit poster, but will likely be left behind when it’s time to rank up ...
126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List of Forks [updated 2/12/2018] on: February 12, 2018, 07:01:09 PM
I added two more Bitcoin forks this week.  Notably, "Bitcoin Dollar" and "Bitcoin 2".

I also came across "Bitcoin Point", but their announcement page is pretty lacking and they don't have a website ... so ... not much add with this one. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2624373.0

Also, added a couple of Ethereum forks that don't look too promising, and a Litecoin Fork that appears to be overdue for launch ... but again, I'm not trying to sanitize this list ... I'll mark them as "dead" when/if the webpages are taken down.
127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to solve electricity and pollution problems related to Bitcoin? on: February 12, 2018, 05:00:23 PM
As someone pointed out above, it will be interesting to see if the halfing eventually leads to less miners.  So far, we are not seeing it, though, the rise of hashing power has been pretty consistent through the halfing.

Does anyone know the contract address that can be followed on EtherDelta?  I assume it won’t have a ticker listed there immediately.   Not looking to buy or sell, just want to see how it prices.

129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AIRDROP] XNN - XENON - Massively Distributed EOS Alt-chain on: February 12, 2018, 01:55:43 PM
Yesterday I posted on their telegram asking them to provide a link to this telegram on their webpage or by an admin on their slack channel, so we can be sure that it is legit ....

Today, the message is deleted and I have been banned ....
130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DeepOnion's Team and Corruption of Power on: February 12, 2018, 03:32:16 AM
So you were in their airdrop, promoting them, getting free money every week, but you called them "corrupted fucks", so they banned you?

That all sounds reasonable.  You are free to think they are "corrupted fucks", and they are free to stop giving you free money.

Freedom of speech sometimes has consequences.
131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AIRDROP] XNN - XENON - Massively Distributed EOS Alt-chain on: February 12, 2018, 12:54:19 AM
In looking at the social media linked from their website ... the telegram is not listed.  It may be a total scam.  The Cluelessness of "Andrew" makes that a definite possibility.

WhyMy126, the OP of this thread, hasn't logged in 12/20/2017 ...
Their Official Twitter has been silent since 11/15/2017...
and their Slack Admin, "XenonNetwork" hasn't posted in almost a month (1/12/2018) ....
The November Airdrop to BTC holders never happened...  got pushed back to January ... and never happened.

It may be dead.
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ConnectX : Pioneering Blockchain in Space on: February 11, 2018, 10:10:22 PM
That is an unfortunate name for this project.  It is too reminiscent of BitConnectX, which I guess is supposed to be the latest reincarnation of BitConnect.

Other than that, is seems impossible for me to beleive that data centers located in orbit will reduce costs, from up to $2000/TB down to as little as $50/TB, from data centers located on earth.
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: VLB: vehicle blockchain platform! on: February 11, 2018, 09:51:20 PM
Why not on the block chain?  I’d liken this to CarFax, which is a very popular service in the auto resale industry, but with an immutable BlockChain record.
134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AIRDROP] XNN - XENON - Massively Distributed EOS Alt-chain on: February 11, 2018, 05:49:45 PM
From telegram.

Dear community!

After the last events Andrew Kong decided to leave XNN team. New admin will be announced soon.

I'm hoping this was an honest mistake. Several days ago a telegram poster was pressing Andrew on why Xenon didn't have a github, and I think he mistakenly linked that VMWare Xenon project github ...

I think the real answer here is that XNN will be forked off EOS, when it launches a mainnet....  EOS hasn't gotten to that point yet, so there is nothing to fork, and therefore no github.

At least, that is my take on how the events played out, perhaps someone from Xenon will have a better explanation at some point.

135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto has gone to shit on: February 11, 2018, 04:36:49 PM
So says the guy wearing an ICO signature  Wink

I get what you are saying, but the problem isn't really the sketchy ICO and scam coins, it's the people that buy them.  If people did their research and invested only in the trustworthy projects and well established coins, then this would go away.

136  Other / Meta / Re: Question about Merit on: February 11, 2018, 03:32:06 PM
You can visit the Meta section of this forum, there is a lot of discussion about merit there.

Theymos has said “excessive” begging for merit is not recommended ... but has left the door open to occasionally asking.... at least, that is my take on how the conversations have gone.

Also, just as an aside, I personally would not give merit to post that asks for merit ... I think quality is something the readers should notice and send.  When you are consistently asking for merit, it gives the impression you may be an account farmer who only cares about ranking up ...

I mean, we all want to rank up, but the purpose of merit is making quality posts to earn ranking up.
137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AIRDROP] XNN - XENON - Massively Distributed EOS Alt-chain on: February 11, 2018, 03:04:52 PM
I'm honestly starting to have doubts about that telegram group... "Andrew", the main guy there, isn't doing a good job of explaining the apparently fraudulent link to VMWare's Xenon project.  He also wasn't able to explain how the BTC airdrop would work (if it ever happens) ... it's now 3 months overdue.... he just said all BTC address are public so they'll know where to send it, but failed to explain how they'd link an ERC20 token to a bitcoin address.

But someone obviously spent a boatload of Gas sending out all that Xenon in the first round, so I'm not ready to give up on this.  I wish OP of this thread WhyMe126 would come back for some guidance.

We are concerned as well. Unfortunately, such operational risks happen. Our apologises to all XNN token holders for that. As it was already stated, that Github repo had  any additional value for our token at the current stage of the development, key code will be forking from the EOS one
138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Candy - WTF????? on: February 11, 2018, 01:38:40 AM
This one actually forked in Mid January ... it's been around for a while.  They just launched their "mainnet", so I wonder that means.  Premining the whole time?

Anyway, It really makes no sense to Fork BCC because BCC isn't really facing the adversity that Bitcoin faces (high fees, slow verifications, etc.) ...

I sort of the get the BTC forks, because people want to say their ideas can "fix" Bitcoin ... but what needed to be fixed with BCC?
139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ERC20 vs NEP5 on: February 10, 2018, 02:36:42 AM
Looking at the top 100 tokens on CMC ...

Ethereum - 92
Omni - 3
Neo - 3
NXT -1
Ardor -1

Ethereum is dominating, but I do think they are getting outclassed technology wise by the new comers.  Ethereum needs to scale and update.
140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Expanse (EXP) - 1st Stable fork of Ethereum on: February 09, 2018, 05:15:23 PM
Hello,

I'm maintaining a list of forked coins, and I have a question for the Expanse community.

When Expanse was launched, at Ethereum block 800,000, were holders of Ethereum at block 800,000 allowed to claim Expanse coins (like a BTC / BCH situation), or was it a fresh "fair start" where the only way to get the coins was through mining?

(FWIW, I'm not being lazy, I read through the first 20 pages of this thread, and I'm assuming the latter is true based on what I've read, but just wanted to make sure)

Thanks!
