121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin become a daily currency? on: February 15, 2018, 12:15:56 AM
Bitcoin transactions are way slower than other cryptos and fees are high, and when you pay with bitcoin you pay with only fractions of it, so do you think it is possible for bitcoin to become a daily currency? Something you can use to pay for coffee? If no, then what cryptocurrency have this potential?

Your post answers your own question. Let me clarify this by getting the key points from your post:

1. Bitcoin transactions are way slower than other cryptos
2. fees are high
(taken from the first line)

With these points, can you say that Bitcoin is practical for a daily basis currency? It's an obvious no for me.

ETH, LTC, BCH are much more suitable for this practicality.
122  Economy / Reputation / Re: The balls of a moron: adekpulpen. on: February 09, 2018, 06:11:15 PM
I do not think that we should instantly tag people who fall under the category 'b' (which is not the case with OP). However, if the user displays a pattern of asking several members for this, we should tag them IMO. What do you think?

As stated by theymos:
Do not beg for merit excessively.

Thus, tagging them is justifiable.

Edit:
Dude I am jealous that morons are PMing you for merits. I wish they would PM me. I would gladly give them something they "deserve"  Grin Grin Grin
The difference is, yours wouldn't matter.

123  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is going to MOOON!! BUY OR HODL! on: February 07, 2018, 07:13:04 PM
Bitcoin is going to rise upto $28K, the whales are waiting. Remember when bitcoin dropped from $1K to $152? They're the ones with the lambos now.

When exactly? It's easy to day that Bitcoin is going to moon anytime soon but backing your claims is the difficult part. Yes, based from the history of Bitcoin, it could reach even higher than 28k with a very strong bull ran. But this does not justify that this will happen. It might happen within a month, a quarter or a year.

Quote
BUY OR AND HODL!

fixed that for you
124  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Going Up - Good News Apper on: February 07, 2018, 07:05:03 PM
Guys, have you noticed that everytime the market goes down, the internet is filled with bad news and apocalyptic news about crypto. But when the coins are rising, only good news are seen?
We must learn to not pay attention to this kind of manipulation

Well, manipulations and spreading rumors will stay through eternity. This is how the market goes and it will remain the same. Whales will gain more and the weak will go weaker (unless not).

Manipulations (bad news), however, gives guidance to traders as they use this to their advantage in order to buy when the crowd is at panic.
125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining of altcoin ? on: February 03, 2018, 02:19:54 PM
How do you mine altcoins via web browser? Is it profitable?
Which is the best cryptocurrency to mine except bitcoin?

As far as I know, mining altcoins is much profitable than mining Bitcoins. Well perhaps that is if you are a small time miner,  but if you can have a room full of mining rigs then Bitcoin/Ethereum is a good choice. But if you want to buy some coins that is suitable for your desktop/mobile phone then mine Electroneum. They support mobile mining (but I think they are in beta phase at the moment) and could also mine using your desktop/laptop.
126  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why bitcoin price falling down dramatically? on: February 03, 2018, 01:59:57 PM
The drastic drop in Bitcoin's price is just a normal circumstances in Bitcoin's price cycle. History has proven that every first quarter, specifically on the month of January, Bitcoin's price really does goes down. If we could recall, the hype of Bitcoin ended somewhere at the middle of December. Therefore, the recent drop/crash is just "laying low" of the last "bull run". If you'll ask the old/experienced "Bitcoiners" they are waiting for these kind of drops so that they could buy more at the lower price. After these drops we'll see Bitcoin flying again Wink
127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why does bitcoin have value? on: February 03, 2018, 01:16:25 PM
Here answers the topic accurately:

What determines the PRICE of Bitcoin? The VALUE of Bitcoin at a particular moment.

What determines the VALUE of Bitcoin? The SUPPLY and DEMAND of Bitcoin in the economy.

What determines the SUPPLY of Bitcoin? Currently, the MoneySupply-Inflation rate of 25 BTC every 10 minutes, and traders willing to SELL Bitcoin to BUYERS in exchange for other supplies of money (currencies).

What determines the DEMAND of Bitcoin? Traders willing to BUY Bitcoin from SELLERS in exchange for other currencies.

Therefore: BUYERS, SELLERS, and MONEYSUPPLY-INFLATION (miners) determine the VALUE of Bitcoin, which determines the PRICE of BTC as BUYERS and SELLERS trade based on that VALUE (or supply and demand) of Bitcoin.

128  Other / Meta / Re: Merit sources via Rank on: February 03, 2018, 12:59:38 PM
Let me just repeat this.

Horrible idea that will continue to facilitate account farming and spam. Nothing to see here; move on.
129  Other / Meta / Re: Merit rewards for Signature Campaigns! on: February 01, 2018, 08:12:16 PM
What a dreadful idea. I was tempted to put everyone who supports this idea on my ignore list. Campaign managers should have no rights to give merit or sMerit in my opinion.

I think what you meant was CMs should not be Merit source.

Well I think being a CM and a MS at the same time is not that bad. Take this for instance, you are a CM. You constantly checks the posts of the participants of the campaign you are managing. If you see posts that are, in your perception, worthy of some merit then give some and do not if not. As simple as that. No conflict of interest. You manage your campaign and acts as a MS at the same time.

Of course not all CM should be MS, only those who are worthy.
130  Other / Meta / Re: Merit sources via Rank on: February 01, 2018, 07:54:28 PM
Dude if MS source rank up he will continue to be MS for an appointed group of rank. I don't know who will be merit source or which rank is that MS.

Did you read this what I wrote mate

My apologies for missing some of your key points

(merit sources can be from all ranks, but they can just give merit to group where they are appointed)

That means if you are Sr. Member and you are appointed into Members MS group you can give points only for that group where are you appointed. It doesn't matter from which rank will source man be..

Regardless, limiting a merit source who he can give some smerit/s is just wrong. Take this for instance, you've read a post of a Newbie which is with quality and contributed something relevant to a certain topic. You want to give him merit but you can't since you are only assigned for Member-ranked accounts. Will you even bother to bookmark that post just to give him merit when he got upgraded to Member? No. This is the type of scenario that is being neglected by theymos. I bet he did not even think about this because this will just make the Merit System more complex.

The main purpose of Merit is to award people who had been contributing something to this forum. That's why restrictions to whom you want to give your sMerits is not implemented.
131  Other / Meta / Re: Merit sources via Rank on: February 01, 2018, 04:07:48 PM
I take this as a suggestion, right? This suggestion will not work at all. Full Members and below would not be an effective Merit source since they haven't established something relevant to the forum (except to those who are known that is in FM rank).  Based from the criteria of being a merit source stated by theymos:
If you want to be a merit source:

 1. Be a somewhat established member.
 2. ...
 3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.

the most suitable rank to be a merit source is Sr. Member and above.

Also, the merit should be given to those who had contributed something relevant and by restricting the giving merit to just within your rank level is horrible. Anyone who deemed a post worthy of Merit should give merit if he wanted to.

And what if the Member ranked MS ranked up? He cannot give merits to those who are still Member, right? Thus all merits will be given only to higher ranks in the future unless theymos will appoint again per rank.

This idea is full of holes and flaws. This will never happen.
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethreum the new king of crypto? on: February 01, 2018, 07:38:22 AM
Hello Folk, is it the time for ethreum to lead from the front ? As bitcoin is going through rough ride along with other altcoins but ethreum is turning out to be more stable platform for investment and also new ICO's are based on ethreum. Do you think Ethreum will dethrone bitcoin from 1st rank of crypto this year?

Bitcoin will stay as the king of cryptocurrency while Ethereum will just be the king of tokens. Many supports Bitcoin more than Ethereum and the market capitalization is not enough in order to dictate who the king is. The market cap is just the multiplication of the current price and the circulating supply so we could simply say that it is just a number and cannot prove anything related to the "being the king".

134  Other / Meta / Re: No spam, no scam, everything transparent - red trust! on: January 29, 2018, 06:49:35 PM
Based from The Pharmacist's comment, buying accounts encourages/leads to scams, spams and account farming. It's a fact. That's the whole reason you were tagged. It's a just trust rating since DT members are fighting spam and account sales in the forum.
135  Other / Meta / Re: Merit rewards for Signature Campaigns! on: January 29, 2018, 06:36:20 PM
Bad/lazy campaign managers and sig campaigns are a big part of the reason why the forum is a cesspool of spam right now...

I believe the merit system is in place partly to combat bad/lazy campaign managers who are not doing their job.  It would be truly stupid to then give them the power that essentially makes the new merit system useless.

I would say based on the earliest of evidence that smerit distribution is probably still a little bit low.  But given time we can hope that it will be adjusted.  Finding the balance point of making merit useful and useless will probably take some time but adjusting that balancing point to much before data is available also seems stupid.

I cannot see how the merit system could fight against the bad/lazy CMs. They can easily ignore merits and stay as bad/lazy as they were.

In accordance to the suggestion of OP, having a CM as a merit source does not have a downside IMO. These CMs do weekly reviews on their participants' post history so they are suitable for being a MS. Well obviously not all are qualified. A good MS for me should be yahoo, atriz, darkstar, lutpin and other CMs whom had established their worth as a CM. I am not saying that all of them should be MS but imagine one/some of them being a MS.

Stop being a lazy dumbass, everybody in here knows that you have probably 100 accounts in here and you have a little butthurt because you can not rank up anymore.

LOL, I wonder where all these hatred coming from. Also, no proof regarding having 100 accounts. I bet you'll think I'm his alt. Goodluck proving that Cheesy

Yeah yeah... sure.. as an example, you will never get merit because you are a lazy dumbass who has less than 10 IQ and is always shit posting in here. Wow, another guy complaining about the Merit System! What a curious thing to realize that you are so frustrated right?

I haven't seen any complaints. I only see suggestion.

136  Other / Meta / Re: WHY IS LAUDA STILL HERE. on: January 28, 2018, 08:11:12 AM
A butthurt troll whining about his negative trust. Desperately needed to retaliate. Thus, this thread. Roll Eyes

Is everyone and their dog going to make new merit threads hoping to get merit?   Undecided

it seems they see merit as a precious asset Roll Eyes

Is everyone and their dog going to make new merit threads hoping to get merit?   Undecided

Haha. Everyone is creating their own thread hoping to get some merits donation.

Seriously? You answered a rhetorical question Roll Eyes

Hi. I am new here. What is merit? Grin

Troll somewhere else. You're an obvious alt.

Just helping people out, and based on what I have read here

Oh please, spare us Tongue

EDIT:

OP had an error regarding #6. Your sMerit won't be replenished when you send 2 sMerit to others. You'll have 1 sMerit for every 2 Merit you receive from other members.
138  Other / Meta / Re: Merits from your friends? on: January 28, 2018, 06:58:17 AM
By friends he probably means "friends" aka alt accounts. Doing so will be rife amongst farmers and multi-accounters now but it will also just be one more tool for suspicious users to find alt accounts. You shouldn't really give points unless a person deserves it but it is ultimately up to you how you give out points, friend or not, but also up to the community whether you are giving them out just to help "friends" rank up and how to punish that.

Still, we cannot neglect the fact that there are people in this forum that are friends in real life. Even I have friends close friends here. I could easily ask merit from them but that wouldn't be necessary if I could post something relevant to the discussion, right?

Agree with you, lots of account farmers will do that to make their account easily to ranked up and will be able to enter in signature campaign which are their main purpose in this forum.

They are already doing that. Some were tagged already.

If the whole idea is to reward quality posing users, and slow spam down. Then farming for it, or giving it to someone just because they are your friend should be against the rules, however would be hard to prove. So it is likely just unethical.
sorry, but am i missed something about the rules this "merit" works, where to find it ?

and i think it's hard to read, the people think and you think it's different like you called it good post and help you but the other people didn't

There are no rules regarding the abuse of Merit, for now, since this is just a new system of the forum. I doubt there will be because theymos wants the community to have their freedom in giving out merits. DT Members, on the other hand, will exercise their power to stop/lessen the abuse of giving merits.
139  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Suggestion - Use as "Mod" Points for Posts on: January 26, 2018, 07:56:54 PM
Based from my latest post from another thread:
However, there is a possibility that not all good quality posts get merited. So by having filters, we cannot guarantee if the posts with merit is a quality post and we might miss good post just because it does not have merit.

What if a very informative/quality post does not get any merit? It will fall down along with the spam and useless posts. That would result in checking both the filtered thread and the unfiltered. Also, this is a forum with discussions, so the posts should be kept in order so that readers can follow where the discussion is going.
