121  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: May 08, 2014, 10:50:40 PM

The path to Hell is paved with Kalifornia Kool-Aid drinker-authored publications.

The ASICS work, that's true.  There's still absolutely no remotely just or viable plan to make good on Hashfast's huge debt to its early customers.

That would be doing the "right thing", Amy, to make good on pledges violated. Put your actions where your mouth is.

We've seen a procession of bullshit testimonials to Hashfast's good intentions on this board and elsewhere.  To a person, these were people that Eddie gave money and/or equipment to. (You fall into the former category.)  Eddie is such a {sarcasm} sophisticated {/sarcasm} operator.  He can apparently smell his own kind: greedy.  "Gaydar" of a different sort. Anyway, Eddie has a knack for finding people who will say whatever in return for some often trivial benefit.

Why should we think your words any different than a cycle of lies going back nearly a year now?

Show us with concrete actions.

Maybe if HashFast did the "right thing" more often, or at all, then you wouldn't have the lawsuits that "set you back".

PS:  I have a hard time believing that you don't hold BTC considering the language of your Miner Protection Program (TM) (MPP), and other statements about refunds in BTC.

Unfortunately had to give up on soun.se (176.10.212.237).  It's not a huge node - 7 MH/s, but unpaid VTC and MON balances keep going higher and higher and there's been no reply from the node operator.   I'm not uptight about every share being immediately paid, but at my lower hashrate, this unpaid balance is significant:

Where is it?
This tweet: https://twitter.com/MazaCoin/status/439656677777104896
Leads to: http://coyn.org/mazacoin/explorer/
Which doesn't work.

Edit: Looks like you can view blocks and transactions here: http://cryptoexplorer.udf.me/blocks.php?cid=83&coinname=Mazacoin
But you can't view addresses, so no way to track the premines.

There is a "new" one.  There's a numerical IP address in Boxxa's twitter feed.  The post was a few days ago.  Apparently explorer.mazacoin.org points to a machine under Boxxa's control.  Apparently there's nobody at home at mazacoin.org to update the DNS record to point explorer.mazacoin.org to the new numerical IP.

Meanwhile, Boxxa has a thousand tweets about pumping and dumping a few coins, and farcical bullshit all mixed in, like Thoreau quote retweets, comments on television series, and trying to give away Maplecoins.  What an idiot.  Not that Payu has acquitted himself well, but this Boxxa... the mind of a 13 year old.

Pussy-chasing Payu seems to have more like the mind of an 18 year old.  Five years more advanced, but still about twenty short of mature.

This coin was a great idea that apparently just didn't have adult supervision from the start.  Maybe something will come out of the ashes.

This can't be good news.  The Mazacoin block explorer is now occupied by Boxxa's continuumcoin pool.

explorer.mazacoin.org

I hear the fat lady warming up.

Looking at a couple twitter feeds, I'd say that Boxxa and Payu had a falling out and will try to blame each other.

I wouldn't touch either one of them with a 10 foot pole after this.

But Boxxa seems to be a particularly childish asshole.

You should receive shipping notifications and tracking updates from fedex, though I don't recall all the available shipping options LAST FRIGGIN YEAR when I ordered.

I think it was:

[ ]  Take my money and fail and/or fart around and/or mine with my hardware for six months or more after the quoted delivery date (very expensive)

[ ]  Take my money and fail and/or fart around and/or mine with my hardware for six months or more plus a few more days  after the guaranteed delivery date (expensive)

[ ]  Take my money and fail and/or fart around and/or mine with my hardware for six months or more plus a week or more after the guaranteed delivery date (moderate)

I've got a Batch 2 order number in the mid-2100s.  Anyone here have one higher?

You can bet that if those two Peter Smiths are the same person that he's running away from being associated with Hashfast just as fast as he can.

Wait.  Son of US Aid worker in Cambodia, mid-1976?  This doesn't pass the smell test. SE Asia isn't my specialty, but to the best of my knowledge, any representative of the US government in Cambodia, or for that matter any American at all in Cambodia, in mid-1976, was about to wind up being a member of one of those skull collections, if not already.

WTF.  Seems exceedingly unlikely.  Son of mixed US/Cambodian background born in refugee camp in Thailand.... more likely.  But not many women in 'representation' of the US government running around in that time and region.  He can be born wherever, it's not material. And which of his parents was what, I don't care.   Says he never met his Dad.  Wound up on the Res, but... This just doesn't calculate well, and I really can't imagine that the US government was running aid programs with the Khmer Rouge.

Maybe he was a "US Aid worker"   ...if you know what I mean

Hmm.. well if what you mean is that he was sarcastically describing his father, in the military, as an "aid worker", that'd be pretty interesting (although his profile includes a USMC pic, kind of counterintuitive if you're bashing the US armed forces) ... but it still doesn't really compute.  So his Dad disappeared and the Cambodian mother emigrated to the res based on the absentee Dad's (claimed?) tribal identity? Is that what we're supposed to infer?  Aw, shit.  I don't care.  Some of that's his personal concern, not mine.  I'm just pretty disappointed that his basic life story doesn't add up. It suggests something to hide, like it or not.

If you're having those types of issues, you should really setup your own private p2pool node. (snip...)

I agree 100%, and want to add to the encouragement to run your own node. It's easy, pretty much anyone can do it, even if you don't have a separate PC or ESXi server etc. - just run it in a VM on your desktop (or indeed run it directly on your desktop) - it's the optimal way to mine, with the best payouts and zero fees.

Okay, okay.  Once I find that Ubuntu disk around here, I'll put it on a Virtualbox and give it a whirl.   If I'm going to bother maybe even make a dynamic DNS public node, since there seem to be few nodes in the US southwest.  Unless that would attract idiots wanting to mess with my "massive" 700k hashpower.

Crapped out somewhere around "cabal: using 'build-type: Custom' but there is no Setup.hs or Setup.lhs script."

Bummer.  Guess I'll wait for things to evolve since, as I understand it, this is a temporary arrangement.

If you're having those types of issues, you should really setup your own private p2pool node. I'm using virtualbox running ubuntu 14.10, which I've setup to be my node and I'm getting great payouts with 0 issues. Here are my stats on my hardware:

i5 3570 (ivy) @ 4.5 GHZ
8GB RAM

I setup my virtualbox to use 2 GB of RAM. I can still play games, etc without issue.. Though I'm thinking about upgrading my RAM to 16GB to give myself a little more breathing room. Overall I see no reason to use a pool or someone elses p2pool node since mine has been running great and stable. There's a few guides out there on how to setup everything up as well.

EDIT: One more benefit, I have about 2 MH/s total in terms of hashing power and have been constantly getting payouts on P2P #1.

Way back in the dark ages before Monocle, I had several p2pools to which I could connect and could depend on 97-98.5% of my (pseudo)shares being accepted.  I'm mining at ~700k. Lots of Cudaminer "yay!!!".

Since moving to merged mining, I can't find any 3rd network p2pool node, including those with the shortest ping, that give me nearly that acceptance rate.  It's more like 89-94% everywhere I connect.  Lots of Cudaminer "booooo".

There's doesn't seem to be much relationship to geography.  A node across the Atlantic gives me the highest 3rd network accept rate (94%), and the overall best accept rate I get (>97%) is from 2nd network node in New York, where I'm about half or 1/3 the hashrate of the other guys in the pool. (I'm in Texas.)

Should I be upset about the rejected shares?  How should I pick a node?

This is more interesting.

Ugh.  Makes it look like Payu is spending more time in Filipino stripper bars than taking care of his Mazacoin project.  Dude, you can flash signs and chase pussy later.

@perezoso efectivly, one :9555 node is one address on standard p2pool stats Wink

Heee.... sorry. RTFM:  "When you mine both VTC and MON you will not show up as a normal miner you will be proxymining with every one else on this node."  But thank you for the clarification!

Some nodes have a very simple one now.
http://soun.se for http://176.10.212.237:9174/static/
http://www.cryptomasters.net/ for http://vtc.cryptomasters.net:9171/static/index.html  The guy that got this pool made the GUI. Consider donating to him if you like it.

Cryptomasters right now says "Cryptomasters.net VTC/MON Merged Mining STRATUM IS OFFLINE. THERE IS SOME KIND OF BUG IN THE PAYMENT WHICH EMPTIES THE WALLETS ON THE SERVER" ... Not encouraging!

soun.se is working for me... I see balances building, too early for payments.

Is there a reason why both those pools only seem to show three connected (the fastest?) users on the regular p2p stats page?

hashharder's 2% fee is kind of high... especially if payments are buggy.
135  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: May 02, 2014, 02:07:04 PM
So.... Dalkore sure seems quiet about his claim to be rescuing us.

Last we heard from him - a week ago - he claimed that Hashfast Eddie was on the verge of more public announcements to explain their fuckups and to "make good on expectations set forth before".

"Making good" so far seems to be a dubious power outage and no further explanations.

Dalkore, what do you say now?

For delivery guaranteed for the 31th of Jan? You are talking about batch 2. Hashfast.org for the ToS and web.archive.org for the pricing. You should find it Smiley

Apparently I'm not very smart.  The earliest capture with pricing data that I can see is for Batch 4.  I'm looking for the lowest price that B2 Sierras and BJs were offered at.  If I continue to fail, I hope somebody here who made one of those orders can help out.

EDIT:  Okay, sorry to bother, I found it in my e-mail, since I was a B1 customer and they were soliciting more orders from me.  The lowest price appears to have been during their "3 Day Sale", announced 22 September. The sale put Sierras at $6000 ($10,800 with MPP), and BJs at $2400 ($4,000 with MPP).
138  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: April 30, 2014, 08:55:27 PM
Question:  Can somebody recall, hopefully with documentation, what Hashfast was charging for Babyjets and Sierras for delivery on 31 January?

(Or, if there was no batch specifically promised for 31 January, the closest date thereafter?)

Edit:  This might be a nice addition to Cedivad's wiki.  A list of the stated delivery dates (on the website and in the TOS) for each batch and its selling price.
139  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: April 30, 2014, 06:24:30 PM
But assuming that HF only provides 1.6TH as the MPP for each BJ, I know that the "point of reasonableness" passed some time ago.  The MPP was for hashing power, not space heaters.

I suspect a legal handle could be found, although I'm hardly an expert.  Just my gut feeling.
This is a letter vs. spirit debate. The question is how much lower instance courts are concerned about intends.

Let me play devils advocate a bit:

Many customers fall short, both on letters and intend. They were fooled into accepting revised and rewritten contracts (e.g. refund&release forms) and by doing so they showed compliance with the practices of the company. Either you're blowing the whistle right away or never. Anything in between puts you into a weak position.

I am not defending what HashFast is doing, I am merely pointing out that you need to play the ball persistently in one direction if you want to have a plausible case. Otherwise HashFast (rightfully) can claim that the customer doesn't really know what they want. That's why those mass actions are highly specific to particular customers - because little nuances in the interaction and communication can put a case into a totally different light.

A totally different beast is the question of fraud (intentionally withholding cash or hardware from customers, i.e. taking deliberate actions which harm the revenue of customers) - but that already goes beyond an attempt to recover contractual substance and is a strategy to break their exploitative business model.

Sure.  I agree that those who sacrificed their claim to the MPP one way or another probably wouldn't be judged by anybody to be owed it.  Speaking for myself, I've never signed any releases or agreed to any postponements.  At one point I asked about a refund for the card, but didn't sign because Hashfast refused to provide a release that did anything but absolve them of "any and all" past, present, and future claims.  I said I would not absolve them of "any and all claims" because even if they refunded the upgrade, they still owed me the MPP.  I said that to them a couple of times, and they refused to reply on point.

I'm thinking at this point that it's whatever legal strategy breaks through first that may determine a lot of this.  Arbitration, the bitcoin recovery suits, or the "forced bankruptcy".  Personally, given my comparatively low level of investment and lack of interest in extended litigation, the only legal strategy that makes sense to far is the "forced bankruptcy" petition.  I kind of like the strategy as a matter of principle too, because if it worked, we would likely all be treated fairly and we would likely learn the truth of what has happened. (Which surely might reveal legal issues including fraud.)

And if Hashfast responds by "paying off" the people in that suit, then if I'm part of it, I will certainly make knowledge of that public, so that others can follow suit and file their own actions.

Still holding MZC for the long haul, but I've got to admit that my appetite for more is limited until there's some good news out of "the management".
