121  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining Contracts on: October 07, 2013, 07:08:18 PM
For example:
https://www.cloudhashing.com/contracts/
See the revenue reinvestment?  that is a portion of your money they use to build their infrastructure.
for full details on that and other "management fee" that their contract page wont mention:
https://www.cloudhashing.com/terms-conditions

"(a) We collect 10% of the Product as a management fee for operation of the Pool and associated activities (including hosting and power costs)
(b) We collect 30% of the Product (the “Reinvestment Product”) which is then reinvested into additional or replacement Bitcoin Mining Hardware at our sole discretion and in accordance with Clause 2.6.
(c) We collect the remaining Product which is then allocated proportionally to our Contract Holders according to their Capacity."

So you get (mined -10%)-30% = a lot less then it looks like on their contract pages :-)

This is a rip-off. Don't forget that they also collect 100% of your initial payment.

cloudhashing is one to avoid they want you to pay for there kit so when they have enough they will shut down the Public Front fuck you all off and then mine for them selfs , BEWARE of Mining Contracts ive seen a few scams out there already
122  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another newbie on: October 07, 2013, 07:03:12 PM
I know that feel, OP.

however, mining is not worth it, you're better off just buying some coins and sit on them.

his right , i think the days of little mining is over , just look at ebay people will be giving away Block Erupters i got mine cheap although i will never see the roi unless bitcoin goes to about £150 each witch i believe they will,

BitCoin will reach around £1000 per coin by next year so i WILL get my ROI

ROI? Mine 5 bitcoins with £1000 worth of equipment and you have lost ROI............... what happens when its £1000 Per BitCoin!!!!!!!!! you people need to look at the long term , now silk road gone and more investment from the millionaires club we are perfectly , Stop Moaning Keep Mining!
124  Economy / Economics / Re: US Government Shutdown on: October 07, 2013, 05:38:57 PM
What i know so far............... Well then F.E.M.A has been buying up billions or rounds of ammo 5000+ armored transports , Tanks, F.E.M.A mass population transport vehicles i.e large buses, more guns than a small country has in its armament and region 3 that includes Washington DC buying up all available food packets. The training of Russian troops all 15000 of them and the U.S government trying to take your guns from you all. the dollar isn't worth the paper its printed on and the U.S debt is controlled by other country's not the FED reserve! or the Rothschilds/Rockerfellers

Given a privileged insight into certain government documents with thanks to (****) and (***) UK , I would say the Americans are well and truly Fucked.

The U.S like ALL of Europe can not pay its debt back its IMPOSSIBLE and to argue that point is retarded so please don't waste your time i wont respond.

The USA has to default on its debt you have to collapse!!!!!!! for there to be a new start for everyone who trades the dollar its that or Hyper Inflation so basically your damned if you do and your damned if you don't , there's no happy end to the Economics of the US its that simple unless the Rothschild/Rockerfeller Family write of the debt they control your will always be slaves , its mathematically impossible for Britain to pay off its debt, the same as the USA

(****)= me in jail !!!!!!!!

If the Debt Celing isn't sorted by the 17th i would suggest the American people run for the hills and bunker down, Governments don't but Billions of $$$$'s of Military hardware to not kill people with it inc its own people .................. 9/11

The Republicans who are doing this are Terrorists its how we in Europe see the situation , this is why you have the right to bare arms to defend against Terrorists and that right is not being used. people like Alex Jones sucks balls i hate him fucking CIA, Obama wants to give the American people cheap and free health care like we have in the UK and its seen as a bad thing well looks like the people are too fucking dumb to fight for a good thing..................Shame

to the person who created this thread, your bonkers m8 . i got bored of reading when i realized it was just someone rambling about something they dont really understand . just because you wrote that dosnt mean you fully understand everything . im not dodgy and i mine bitcoins. maybe you should look into FIAT currency a little more and the millions even billions of people who are enslaved to it and the corrupt debt banking system. your question is pointless
126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the downfall of Silkroad will be the partnership of bitcoin and the US gov on: October 07, 2013, 02:14:24 PM
IMO

Gov. Regulation of BTC + No SR = Death of BTC

Really if the gov. starts fiddling around with BTC why not just go back to USD, wtf would be the difference at all?

Would you rather have the government ban BTC?

the government

what should anyone care what the us government decides about bitcoin? the us is not the world police, neither has the us anything to say at all about the law in any other part of the world. I don't give a fuck what the us decides about bitcoin.

The U.S.A are closed come back next week lol
127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you see Silk Road's closure as a positive or negative? on: October 07, 2013, 01:37:33 PM
i would like to use bit coins for :

1) Paying Rent
2) Paying Electric & Gas
3) Paying for Grocery's
4) Paying for Games & In Game Content
5) telling the Bank to FUCK OFF with their slave paper and Credit (DEBT)

This is why i do Mining
128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you see Silk Road's closure as a positive or negative? on: October 07, 2013, 01:33:16 PM
i believe that the silkroad closure is a GOOD thing in the long run although loosing over 600k bitcoins to the feds is a really BAD thing , i would support a movement for the fbi to sell the coins back into circulation so they can help bitcoin move forward and not reduce the coins by 5% . saying that the sale of over 600k coins would drop the price massively and again we would all suffer that for a month or 2 until the price rose again , im invested in bitcoin so im here until the system is no more!!!

FBI SELL THE COINS BACK
129  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: [Need Advice] Which would be best to buy? Hasfast or Cointerra on: October 07, 2013, 09:25:51 AM
Yep, and I just found another website that would be nice to order from even though they are $15000 IF they ship much much quicker which i doubt...

Avoid these companys , just read though the forum to get info on haw many people are waiting for refunds and there equipment, buy Blades if you can i would, also to be honest with that amount i would just buy bitcoins direct you will make MORE on your ROI. BUY THE COINS
Why do they want refunds? They would have to wait for equipment cause Hashfast is coming in december and Cointerra in January

Is Hashfast's $/Ghs much better than KnC's?
Yeah it is definintely, Hashfast is $4.2 per Gh, Cointerra is $3 per Gh, and KnC is $9. Also hashfast and cointerra include the casing, power supply, etc. So it is also more easier to setup.

Terrahash sorry ,

ASIC bitcoin miner manufacturer TerraHash has told customers that it has gone out of business. The company is now facing legal action from at least two customers, CoinDesk has learned.

The California-registered corporation announced on the Bitcointalk forum that several problems had caused it to cease trading.

A second document alleges that private communications recovered from the Silk Road's computer server suggested the suspect had been willing to pursue violent means to defend his interests.

It said that messages sent in March and April indicated he had "solicited a murder-for-hire" of a Canadian Silk Road user nicknamed FriendlyChemist who had tried to extort money by threatening to release the identities of thousands of the site's users.
FBI notice It is no longer possible to access the Silk Road's website

Subsequent messages indicated he had been sent a photograph of the victim after paying $150,000 to have the blackmailer killed.

"I've received the picture and deleted it. Thank you again for your swift action," Mr Ulbricht is alleged to have written to an assassin.

However, the court documents note that Canadian law enforcers have said there was no record of a homicide taking place in White Rock, British Columbia at the time.
133  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining Contracts on: October 02, 2013, 05:44:52 PM
Hey everyone,

With the advent of ASICMiner selling shares, I have been seeing a lot of Mining Contracts lately. I remember seeing them before but it seems to have become a lot bigger with ASICMiner on the scene. I have seen cex.io ads here on BitcoinTalk, which is selling contracts through ghash.io. I have even have found mining contracts for sale on ebay.

I have spoken with some people on the matter and a lot are interested in the idea of getting a constant payout over a period of time without needing to maintain machines, but I wonder if this is the only reason people are interested in such deals. It certainly seems like avoiding the headache of having to maintain machines yourself is a big plus, but why not just buy into Bitcoin?

I would like to get a feel for the hash brokering economy so I would like to ask you all the following Smiley

Are you interested in mining contracts? Why?
Have you used any services such as cex.io? Are you happy?
Have you seen any scrypt mining contracts offered?
Do you think there's an interest in mining contracts? Why?
Who do you think is the main consumer of such products?

These are just questions to start the discussion, I am very interested in seeing what everyone thinks!

MAIN PROBLEM, if your paying attention to the news today you will see that silkroad has been shut down and the owner arrested, you will also notice the price of bitcoin has dropped . this is the problem with contracts ,
If you purchase a 1 year contract at XAmount of G/hash or T/hash for a certain price you will expect to earn certain amounts of Bitcoin , all good a ROI you want , but if you pay £1000 for the contract and the price of bitcoins fall as its doing RIGHT NOW then you could end up with bitcoins worth alot less than the amount you paid for the contract.

I would rather invest in the equipment myself that i own control and is in my possession, that way i can continue to mine after the contract has finished ,

This is one of the reasons i wont spend alot of money on these contracts IMO
134  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SilkRoad domain Seized? on: October 02, 2013, 05:38:11 PM
Someone tell me when its time to buy  Grin How low could this possibly go?  Do you think it will hit $75 like it did back in July?

Buy now, I guess? Has anything permanent changed with regard to bitcoin's value proposition to the world? It should be fairly obvious that services which directly antagonize law-enforcement agencies are going to be shutdown much of the time. Bitcoin is, and always was, about far more than black-market transactions.

Again, we're in the phase of bitcoin's development where daily transaction volume is 2nd order. The future potential and store-of-value properties far outweigh current transactional usage with regard to price support, so the fact that SR transactions are off the table for the moment should be a mostly irrelevant turn of events to anyone who's thought this through already.

Thanks for the reply, thats what crossed my mind.  If history repeats itself, the media coverage alone could give it a huge climb.

price already dropping !!! im in the long game , swings and round-abouts as we say in the UK

If everyone in the uk switched on their electric kettle at 7-50 pm instead of 8-00 pm, then the sudden demand would shut down the power grid.(it's expected at 8pm but not before).  It takes 24 hours to restart all the tripped out nuclear power stations.

Do many people in the UK switch on their electric kettles at 8:00 pm? Smiley

It was a traditional event on a Wednesday evening Grin

I'm assuming this is just an example of 'British humour', lol.  Because if true, that is VERY odd societal 'behavior' (translation - behaviour).  Grin

No, it's because most people have a cup of tea mid-evening.

See: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s2/eastenders/news/a151673/enders-causes-national-power-surge.html

National Grid's control room has people sitting watching TV, getting ready for the big power drain to start...

no his absolutely right i live in the UK and they time the power for when certain TV shows are on , his also right that if millions turned there kettle on about 15 min before the end of the show it would freak out the power grid
137  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Your thoughts on a $3.00 - $3.24 per GH/s per Year Bitcoin Mining Contract on: October 01, 2013, 10:55:37 PM
Cooling is part of the Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE).

Thank You.

Sorry buy you need to review all the plan.

TMC
Sorry but you need to understand PUE
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_usage_effectiveness
Hes right on track, except I would charge a lot less to host than a data center Tongue

I founded and sold 2 ISPs in my life one with a quite big hosting and colocation data center.

If he plan to use Cointerra devices is 1200 W +/- 20% each, the to cool down in a "regular" data center 2440 W per unit with the electricity cost Supercomputing is saying, what is not possible in most States and in just few countries he will need much more money, Is not the same to host 2 or 3 machines that create excessive heat and power usage in a Data Center, that is lost in all the facility, you have 95% customers using less than expected energy and cooling and one 5% over the limit at the end you dont care, If the same guy wish 50 racks all changes, and you review all after seeing your premium customers complaints about the Room temperature and after receiving the electricity bill, as a Data Center owner you call the guy and say "hey joe this is not working for us".

Bitcoin mining require a different Data Center, one where cooling is very cheap and probably uses the outside cool air in some way and outside air needs to be cool, and a lot of electricity, Electricity in bitcoin mining is like the Bandwidth in a regular data center.

We can discuss it if you wish but really Supercomputer has a nice idea but he is not considering many things in the costs area and not only in Data Center, he is doing the number like if a miner is a standalone server that you leave it there and works alone, and the equipment is almost experimental you require to manage the volume of machines he wishes 2 guys 24/7 on site, with knowledge of bitcoin mining, so you need 8 bitcoin mining admins, plus lets say one chief, how he is going to pay that?

The plan is a nice idea but needs a lot of improvement, total cost per machine will be over u$s 250 near $400 most probable.

TMC

You are forgetting something which is very important, dissipating 629 kW of power will be handled differently by various data centers. If you are running a dinosaur of a data center which wasn't designed with high efficiency in mind, you will pay for it. I choose to host my equipment in a modern day data center with an efficient design.

There is one thing that you cannot deny in life, different people are good at different things. It is a fact of life.

Sounds good go for it and prove everyone wrong. i will agree though with the previous post that your costs at that level will be high, 629kW is a lot of power and alot of cooling. bit mining is a HOT game. Dose your data center understand this? do they have experience of running BitCoin Mining Rigs?

i personally do this for a hobby and something to keep me occupied , i also support this new style of doing business & god knows i hate the fucking EVIL banks.
More Details needed i dont think this is possible with current tech the margins are too close for something to go wrong, what insurance will you give if you get a weeks worth of DDoS ? or bitcoins fall massively in price?
can i cancel a contract at any point ? too many factors for me to invest in this . i dont have faith in other people im afraid

BTC guild reports
"UPDATE: As of approximately 1:00 PM (Pacific Time), the attacks resumed.

UPDATE: As of approximately 10:15 AM (Pacific Time), the attacks seemed to have stopped."
Looks like a DDOS attack on a few pools

Are they DDos attacks , or is it all the new miner devices in the hands of beginners trying to get online?

Can you imagine:- 200 new BFL devices every day, all those users trying to set up their *.bat files
with the wrong input data(like website passwords instead of miner passwords)50 restarts before they ask for help?

Edit:- pool has just gone down

no its a DDoS attack on us
