One of the three cubes that I just received has burnt 2 fuses.  As soon as I turn on the psu, I hear a crackling sound and it shuts down.   The fuse totally burns out.  I did all the recommend cube prep on all of these and the other 2 are working fine. Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I can do to resolve this? Thanks.

What if I ordered and upgrade kit?  I won't be able to put it in myself?
You will. He is not talking about that.

When I spoke of "chips",  I should have said "28nm Golden Nonce ASICs".  What if they ship the case sans "28nm Golden Nonce ASICs" modules?
124  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: December 23, 2013, 05:14:55 PM
...not to throw anymore fuel on the the fire, but... Is it possible that with Ciara assembling Babyjets without chips, that they will ship as is? Hashfast can then say that they shipped by their deadline and send out the chips later.  Does the TOS specify that the Babyjets have to be functioning?

the chips need to be soldered onto the board at the same time as the rest of the components are soldered onto the board.  since they're all surface mount it'd be almost impossible to solder on the chip AFTER the rest has been made.   Also, the dies on the chip are exposed to the elements, and connecting the cooling plate to it is a tricky job as the dies underneath are delicate and full contact of the thermal paste must be made perfectly between the dies and the coldplate. It must be done by experienced people and not amateurs, where any wrong move while attaching the cooler could damage the dies.

in short, i really don't think its an option nor very likely that the rest of the system is shipped without the chips... for the same reason that hashfast gave up on the idea of selling 'chips' to people with the MPP... and decided to give whole modules instead.  simply because its way beyond the average user to install 'the chips'... but not difficult at all to install the modules (just power and usb connectors required)

What power supply are you running?
What mining program are you running & stratum proxy?
Any other relevant information you could share? Like, what is the LED doing? What does the web interface tell you.
What do you mean they "restart". I assume they continue to run in standby mode? If you prefer to keep this on the public board. feel free to quote this and reply back on the board. cheers.

My power supply is a Corsair CX800
I am connecting the blade and the cube via slush's proxy (since I can't seem to get the BFGminer proxy to work right)
I have tried both slush's pool and BTCGuild (i prefer BTCGuild)
They blade and cube are properly cooled in a server room with dedicated AC kept at 60 degrees F and fans blowing directly on them
They are connected directly to a dedicated DSL line (not the best, but I chose to do it this way because it bypasses my company firewall)

I haven't actually sat to observe the status LED, but I just went down now to check it out and I just see it blinking repeatedly.

They will hash fine for about 10 minutes and then they just suddenly stop receiving work. When this happens, I see on the mining proxy that it stops showing the messages where it shows the username for the blade and the username for the cube doing work, and it only shows messages like "new job xxxxxx" which seems to me like the proxy is still requesting jobs from the pool, but it's just not passing it to the ASICs for some reason.

On the web config, I notice that the running time for both the blade and the cube are always the same, meaning that they are restarting themselves at the exact same time.

My blade is the new blade model. My cube is from CanaryInTheMine's most recent batch.

I hope this is enough information Smiley

Is your IP for the proxy static?

My initial thought was this, something related to a networking issue. But he stated that the hardware is actually restarting themselves.see below.

On the web config, I notice that the running time for both the blade and the cube are always the same, meaning that they are restarting themselves at the exact same time.

But the thing is, if the hardware is rebooting itself, why isnt the software picking them back up again and relaying work to them. Strange.

bark0de, you mentioned that you couldnt get BFGMiner to work properly. I found it to be easier set up wise.If you are running windows PC
Have you tried passing this --->
Code:
--http-port 8330
in the target area. For example, on the gui I right click the gui and in the target area at that script
Code:
C:\mine\bfgminer-3.8.0-win32\bfgminer.exe --http-port 8330
and work from there, later saving to config file (forgive me if your way past this step and/or running linux.

Then again, maybe your better off with slushes proxy because I am still wondering if BFGMiner is responsible for my "Long Poll: inactive" question

The IP of the machine running the proxy is static (192.168.1.50) and the IP of the miners are static (192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101), and there is nothing else on this network. The entire network is just 1 laptop, 2 miners, a small switch (which I tried replacing already to rule that out), and a DSL modem which acts as the router.

Yes, the hardware is rebooting itself, but to answer your question, the proxy does eventually pick it back up and it starts to mine again automatically. But these constant disconnects are keeping my average hash rate much lower than what it should be.

When I run bfgminer I get a strange message which sates "Pool 0 is hiding blocks from us" and then BFGMiner closes. I am running it with these command line switches:
bfgminer.exe --http-port 8332 -o http://stratum.btcguild.com:3333 -u bark0de_proxy -p x

I execute this via a batch file which I run from the same directory as BFGminer.

I reached out to CanaryInTheMine and he told me that the miners are hardcoded to reboot themselves if they stop receiving work for a while. The question is, why do they stop receiving work?

When the miners stop getting work, I check the proxy console and I see that it stops showing the really fast messages that say " Submitting ####### from bark0de_cube accepted" and it only shows messages that say something like "new job #######" i forget what exactly it says, but basically it stops mentioning the ASICs and seems to just show messages that say something to the effect of "I just got another job from the pool and I am waiting for a worker to take this job"

Thanks for your help. I hope someone can help me get to the bottom of this Smiley

I had a very similar issue.  It ended up being network hardware related.  Try bringing your proxy machine and cube to a friend's house and connecting there.

John S. (VP Sales) just told me Baby Jets should start shipping out on Saturday!

If anyone can get our hardware through the holiday rush and your local customs office quickly, it's CIARA.

Please post a link to the Baby Jet's user manual. I am assuming there is one if shipping starts in 4 days.
129  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: December 17, 2013, 05:26:53 PM
Latest word was 5 days ago with "Running two of the four die in the chip." Any chance of seeing all 4 dies working this week?

I wonder if they will ship units with only 2 working dies only to avoid refunds.

...good question.  I wouldn't be too surprised if they did.
130  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: December 17, 2013, 04:48:14 PM

They "really" haven't even said when Batch 1 will ship.  They have said they will ship Batch 2 right after Batch 1.  There will be no artificial gap or delay.  Yet another way that Batch 1 customers got screwed essentially they are Batch 2 customers who paid double the price for nothing.

Thanks. I feel bad for people that bought into batch 1.

When I placed my order the were 2 options on their site:

1. November delivery
2. December delivery

Option 1 was $700 more, but I decided to go with it.  Then a few days later they announced that there was going to be a production delay.  It makes me angry that they obviously knew that November delivery was impossible, but they took my extra $700 anyway. I fully understood the risks before I placed my order, but in this case I feel robbed.
131  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: December 17, 2013, 04:24:37 PM
Has there been any mention of when batch 2 is "projected" to be shipped?
132  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: [Guide]How To Setup ASICMiner Blades/Cubes on: December 17, 2013, 01:16:08 AM
For people who cannot see the blade on network, for example plenty of home routers have IP 192.168.1.254 set as their default (e.g. BT home hub), so of course you cannot see the blade on that address on 192.168.1.254:8000, as there is conflict in the network. One of the solutions is to go into the advanced settings of the router and change the router ip on something not used e.g. 192.168.1.253 and change the blade setting on something in static range (as mentioned pre set BT hub has usually range 1-63 static and 64-253 set for DHCP) then change the router back on .254, or if you are connecting new blades regularly, consider to move your router address on 192.168.1.1. But all that should be done only by the person, which clearly understands networking, as some mistakes can make your home network non-functional!!!

I have been searching all over the settings for my router, but cannot find any way to change the IP from 192.168.1.254 to something else...

Guess I am just SOL and will not be able to access the Cube page?

What brand and model router do you have? You don't necessarily have to change you router address to access your cube config.

Do these plug into your everday PC or do you need another computer to act as a proxy? If so does anyone have detailed instructions on how to setup the proxy server? Little confused on how the router proxy and cube are connected and how you manage the cube.

Thanks

Here's a great guide:

I do suggest getting insurance as the USPS has lost my package!    $1000 out the window! Sad

My package was lost for a few hours also.  It'll turn up, but insurance is definitely a good idea.

First off, thanks to everyone for their suggestions and to Dogie for this great guide!

I decided to take my cube and psu to a different friend's house.  It works perfectly there!  It is like Dogie said,  "mysterious network topology" was my issue.  My friend is going to host my cube until I figure this out.  Thanks again.
137  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: December 05, 2013, 06:35:38 PM
The new psu arrived about 30 minutes ago.  It is a Corsair GS800.  I connected it and the cube still reboots itself at 2 minutes. I'm about to pull out what little hair I have left.  Grin  Could it be a faulty cube?  All the chips come up "O" in the config screen so they should be good.

I am at the point that I am willing to pay somebody to help get this going. I don't want to go through the hassle of shipping this back to the re-seller for a replacement.
138  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: December 05, 2013, 03:49:04 PM
How loud are these?  I just ordered one, but kinda forgot that I am going to have to keep it inside since I don't have an easy way to run an ethernet cable outside... although Canary did point me in the direction of something that might work around that, I don't know if it's something I want to try just yet.

...not loud at all.  It uses a 12cm fan.
139  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: December 05, 2013, 01:08:08 PM
Well I wish you luck Edge...hopefully we can get these going. I'm pretty poor these days so if I lost a cube that'd really suck. Especially after being losing money in the WeExchange scam. Anyways though, optimistic can get this going.

BTW for your screen shot you show the ports as 8338. Should these not be 8333 ? You prob know what you are doing here and I don't think their would be any response at all if the ports were wrong but thought I'd mention it.

I changed it on both the cube and the proxy.  I had already tried the default a few times.
My ports are 8332, that is the port the proxy is listening for miner activity on - was that your problem?

I have one cube hashing 32ghs on low  and one cube which worked at first now showing all x's and blinking an error code on the red led. Both are powered from a Corsair TX850M.
Any ideas on reviving the dead one?

Any suggestions on this one, or does it need to go back to canary?

Try the dead one individually, if not open it up and check if there is anything obvious, anything loose. Try running it outside the case.

No.  It is not working.  I changed the default port just to rule that out as the problem.  I tried changing to the Eligius pool on getwork.  I wanted to totally rule out my proxy as being the issue.  The cube still reboots itself at 2 minutes.  I ordered the power supply that you suggested in the op.  It should be here later today.  If that doesn't work, I can pretty much say that I've tried everything.  Thanks again for your help.

As said dunno what triggered it working now instead of the 100 other times I tried. Maybe might want to try starting/restarting the miners at different times then you start your mining proxy program.  Like I for example I was trying the cube first and then relaunching the stratum mining proxy, whereas before I was doing this in reverse. Again logically I doubt this would make a difference, maybe it was pure luck,  but all I can say is now a hundred false starts later and it is hashing.

What psu are you using?
