121  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Definition of mBTC an uBTC on: October 02, 2014, 09:55:14 AM
I just use preev.com but I also get confused, when people post the mBTC and uBTC, so this thread is helping me too.

Why do they not just say 100 000 Satoshi? or use the 0.01 ?

Guess it has it's use, but it's still confusing for new people like myself.

Pretty much the same reason we use km rather than m for measuring distance between two locations, and use MB and GB for measuring RAM size or HDD size.

With mBTC and uBTC, we don't need to type so many zeros. For example, we can use 1mBTC for 100000 satoshi, and 20uBTC for 2000 satoshi.

BTW, you have made a mistake in your post as 0.01 btc = 1,000,000 satoshi. Smiley
122  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where Can I Learn More? on: October 02, 2014, 09:41:21 AM
Guys, if someone asks me, where is the best place for a newbie to learn more about bitcoin? Bitcointalk not included. Trolls might discourage the newbie.

Go to youtube. Its a lot more interesting to watch something while you are learning something.

Very true.
This is one of the best bitcoin videos I found. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CMucDjJQ4E
123  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stuck in Yerevan, Armenia with Bitcoins. Please help me sell ~700USD worth on: October 02, 2014, 09:32:07 AM
If you have no bank account and no cash how do you expect to buy/do this trade? Either look at local bitcoins or try buy some from the forum Currency Exchange here.

I believe you have misunderstood OP as he is not looking to buy bitcoin.
Instead, it is the opposite and he wants to sell his bitcoin to get about 700 USD fiat money.
124  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hacked Wallet on: October 02, 2014, 09:25:41 AM
same events as me, although no one else can access my laptop. I may install something terledor contained within the keylogger. it could be. very strange because suddenly my wallet for 2 years when the hack back into safe safe

If you haven't re-used that password on other site, the account hack is most possibly related to keylogger or phishing link.
BTW, you should enable 2FA to improve the safety of your bitcoin on the blockchain.info wallet.
125  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lost Bitcoin on: October 02, 2014, 09:23:10 AM
I just lost 0.1 of a bitcoin wallet blockchain and it can not go back because there is no contact to report  Cry

Yup, bitcoin is decentralized and so no one can stop a tx from going through or revert a confirmed tx. And that is exactly the biggest selling point for bitcoin.

126  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I get rid of dust in my wallet? on: October 02, 2014, 09:09:23 AM
all transactions that nothing can be cleaned and it will become evident when something happens one day later

Huh? I have absolutely no idea what you want to say here.
127  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: (Ask?) Hashprofit on: October 02, 2014, 08:55:48 AM
They mine altcoins and change thm into BTC for paying, some people understand that this could damage BTC in the long term

I don't quite understand this. Why and how would altcoin mining damage bitcoin in the long term?
128  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which mining do you prefer? Cloud mining or Hardware Mining? on: October 02, 2014, 08:50:01 AM
I prefer not to engage in bitcoin mining.
But if I have to choose one, I would prefer running my own hardware as it will be more fun to set up and run the machine myself.
129  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how much I can mine? on: October 02, 2014, 08:45:54 AM
What CPU coins are there, are they worth much? Is there any profit in it?

There are 20 altcoins listed on http://cpucoinlist.com/, but it seems to me that they are GPU-mineable already...
I don't think CPU mining is profitable at all.
130  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mining with smartphone on: October 02, 2014, 08:23:54 AM
Now old PC is not suitable for mining. So how can you think about mining with Smartphone. I think is it a waste of

a waste of... what? Time? Money? Power?

Lol how about all of the above.

Unless you have an ASIC there is no point in mining now IMO

If you have an early generation of ASIC, the power efficiency won't be good and you will be wasting money running the miner.
131  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Faucets - working links only (Great for Beginners to earn some coin) on: October 02, 2014, 08:14:27 AM
Hello everybody,

I tried Bitchest last days and reached 100% of the payout sum but did not get any payout.
There is a countdown but I do not understand it. Huh

Please write me what to do to get my satoshis.

Thank you, Kiss
Zorro

It has stopped paying for quite some time already. You can read https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=781191.0 and https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=781987.0 for reference.
132  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some one is sending me BTC 0.00000001 , Why? on: October 02, 2014, 07:47:04 AM
But this looks like a negative promotion right now. It would be ok if they will be sending at least minimum tx fee (0.0001BTC).

As the saying goes, "There is no such thing as bad publicity". The site owner just want to draw the bitcoiners' attentions to his site with a very low cost.
133  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Vs. Paypal on: October 02, 2014, 07:26:06 AM
Bitcoin is so much better than Paypal IMHO. Bitcoin has no chargeback, bitcoin has a lower transaction fee, and there is no account banning in bitcoin.
134  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying bitcoin question on: October 02, 2014, 07:13:02 AM
Btc-e and Bitstamp are already working I think, Coinbase for US based?, Circle is quite new and don't know allot about it.

Coinbase has recently started doing businesses in 18 European countries. https://www.coinbase.com/global

I'am also interessted if there is any website to buy using Paypal maybe ? or MasterCard

You may try Virwox to buy bitcoin with Paypal.

Any idea about the rates ? 1:1 ?

You mean depositing your Paypal balance in Virowx? If so, yes, but there are a deposit fee and exchange fee.
Please read https://www.virwox.com/help.php#_Fees for the details.
135  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best bitcoin wallet on: October 02, 2014, 07:09:50 AM
I am using coinbase wallet. It is secure but there is always a possibility of being hacked on online wallet.

Since you don't have the private key for your bitcoin on Coinbase, it is IMO better to store your bitcoin on Bitcoin Core, Electrum, Multibit, blockchain.info, etc and only use Coinbase as an exchange.
136  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If bitcoin was real coins, Would you pick 1500 satoshis off the ground? on: October 02, 2014, 06:53:00 AM
It would be something like 70 pennies. I wouldn't pick such amount.

You wouldn't pick up two quarters and two dimes?

That's funny, I was gonna ask them the same question but forgot.  I don't people that say they can't be bothered to pick up the change.  Sure 70 cents isn't a lot for some people, but 70 cents is a lot of money to some, especially the homeless.

A lot of the time when I find change I'll throw it in one of the many donation boxes you see in stores.  Hell, throw it all in a bin at home and around Christmas donate to the food bank.

What 70 cents? 1500 satoshis = 0.000015 btc = 0.0057 USD at this moment.
I don't think that 0.57 cent is a lot of money, even to the poor and homeless...

Are you kidding me?  Not sure where you live, but even 70 cents goes a long way from eating to going hungry.  There are homeless people living on the streets of Vancouver and they appreciate even 25 cents.  As I mentioned in a previous post, it adds up.  Couple people give a homeless person 70 cents, thats a meal.

It's all perspective. What maybe nothing to you, can be a lot to another person.  Someone goes from having nothing to 70 cents, or even 50 cents, its better than having nothing.

As I said, that 1500 satoshi is not worth 70 cents, but it is just 0.57 cents.
The homeless people may appreciate 25 cents, but probably not so much for half a cent.

While the cents can add up, you will need to spend a lot on the transaction fee in the end, as DannyHamilton explained in post 40.

Fair enough, the topic got a little blurred comparing satoshis to actual coins. You're right, they are only worth 57 cents today, but they could be worth a lot more down the road. Which could change a lot of peoples opinions.

Wait, there must be something wrong here, as you keep considering the value 100 times higher than I do.

We agree the bitcoin price is around 380 USD now, right?
And that 1500 satoshi is 0.000015 bitcoin, right?
And lastly, 1 USD = 100 cents, right?
If the answers to all three questions are "yes", it seems you have miscalculated the "satoshi coin" value 100 times higher.
137  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any other forums where I can earn coins? on: October 02, 2014, 06:45:32 AM

You can write some articles on letstalkbitcoin.com for getting LTBcoin which can be sold for bitcoin.

138  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Noob Question on: October 02, 2014, 06:31:16 AM
The price on localbitcoins is generally higher because you don't need to do time-consuming verification process and provide your personal info before buying your bitcoin. The price is set by the individual bitcoin seller and so it could vary a lot. It is usually 5% - 10% higher than bitstamp.
