121  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cryptsy (Warning!) on: December 15, 2013, 02:52:51 PM
Only newbies are playing with cryptsy , and those have no impact on the reputation system.
So, what are you "playing" with?

Bitstamp.
Hahaha I guess you didn't notice that this is about trading altcoins not about bitcoins into fiat  Roll Eyes

The post I made was about the reputation system.
And I made that observation , which you didn't bother to read I assume. You then went and asked me a personal question with no relation to the above!

So , your point is , my confused friend?
Well your contemptuous manner made me ask you the personal question "so what are you playing with (if only - in your opinion - newbies play at cryptsy)?". Of course I did read your post, but you're contemptuous statement is just completely inaccurate. There is just no better alternative right now for trading altcoins. And you trading at an bitcoin exchanger can't really be related to an altcoin exchanger.
How could you possibly know that no older members in here are trading at cryptsy and lost some coins due to the lags at cryptsy, but only newbies?
Try being more respectful with other members next time "my confused friend" and we'll all enjoy this forum some more.

Look at the users posting about having problems.
Look at the users on the rep list.
Tell me when you have a match.
122  Other / Off-topic / Re: Quick test if your Windows pc has been hacked. on: December 15, 2013, 02:43:27 PM
(Why would a hacker change your Start button? There's absolutely no reason for a hacker to do that.), then chances are it's not a virus or hacker.

It would seem likely that the hacker did notdo that on purpose. It is simply a flaw in the hacker program. It would have been useful to me to know about it a week ago.

So , you're telling me that you're going through all those steps each time you use your computer to check if your virus free?
123  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Searching for admins of bitcoin related websites on: December 15, 2013, 02:40:43 PM

The way you get traffic , isn't the best choice around.

124  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Blacklist for scammers buying bitcoin and litecoin on Ebay with paypal on: December 15, 2013, 02:37:38 PM
The blacklist is simple. All!
It's been said a lot of times before.
Don't use PP or E-bay.

126  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mBTC, whats that? sorry i was out for some time on: December 15, 2013, 02:05:33 PM
mBTC = .001 BTC

Also seeing a lot of µBTC that's .000001 BTC or 100 satoshi

Welcome back!

mBTC = microbitcoin = 0.001BTC

it's a unit that makes a small amount of bitcoin look bigger in value to me

Please people , if you don't know what you are talking about , don't say anything!

mBTC    millibitcoin            0.001
μBTC    microbitcoin    0.000001

127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Award - A proposal to the community on: December 15, 2013, 02:02:30 PM
Why we should wait till 2140? Almost 60% of the coins are already mined out. We can proceed directly to the awards now.

Because the OP was a jr member , who probably had no clue when will the last bitcoin be mined.
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Escrow on: December 15, 2013, 01:59:43 PM
How do these work in cryptos and how do you find a reliable escrow since if you send the cryptos to a scammer's friend, they might run away with it??

Start by using one of the guys listed here:

129  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Japanese Engineers to mine Bitcoin powered by the moon on: December 15, 2013, 01:55:18 PM
This is the whole article:
"Japanese Engineers planning to get POWER from MOON. Could our homes soon be powered by the MOON? Engineers plan to ring the lunar equator in solar panels and beam energy back to Earth.Shimizu Construction plans to fit 250-mile-wide belt of solar panels around 6,850 miles of the moon’s surface.Power generated would be sent to Earth using microwaves and laser light. The firm claims it would provide an ‘inexhaustible amount of energy’.

It may sound like something out of science fiction but a Japanese firm plans to cover the Moon in a huge swathe of solar panels and use them to power homes here on Earth.

Shimizu Corporation’s Luna Ring project would stretch almost 6,790 miles around the Moon’s equator and a field of solar panels would form a belt 250 miles wide.

Energy captured by these panels would then be sent to Earth using microwaves and laser lights could be beamed directly to countries where it is needed."

Where do you see the word bitcoin in it?

130  Economy / Economics / Bitcoin adoption, when will we hit 7tps? on: December 15, 2013, 01:37:21 PM
We are seeing an increased number of stores accepting bitcoins.
But somehow the number of transactions only spikes when there is a price rise , then it goes back again.
We're at 51k right now , after a >100k spike with the highest January number being 56k.

So , when do you think we will reach the limit and we (the devs) will have to lift the block size?

Also, which store did you thing generated the most transactions in the chain the last Q?
Exclude gambling sites and bitpay.
131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 15, 2013, 01:32:39 PM
I believe this thread reflects that qrk is pretty much half dead already or a sinking ship in other words.

I believe it's just down with many other altcoins and just that one dump, because people were speculating with the btc38 add. So many people bought expecting that and sold eagerly, also a lot of big holders dumped their coin again. That was not the last of Quark... I can't see Quark not rising again

You see the Irony in it?
You cling to your coin , same how most people here see bitcoiners cling to their old and bad and outdated coin , but you can't acknowledge that quark in it's short life span is already old , not fashionable anymore.
Doge coin is the new cool stuff , world coin is on a rampage claiming god knows what , and the list is long...

134  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Polish company pays salaries in BTC on: December 15, 2013, 12:51:11 PM
This may not be huge in terms of the size of the company, but it is huge in setting a precedent. Another first, a new victory for Bitcoin. When the barriers fall at the front, pushed down by the brave pioneers, it opens up a spearhead for the big volume of BTC "mainstream" to follow. Momentum is building guys....

That is why "HUGE" , is such a bad way of putting it!

It is not the first!!!!
Sorry for the tone , but you didn't even bother to read the whole thread. Or this one:

Finnish software firm offers to pay part of staff’s salary in Bitcoin

So you understand that HUGE , is actual huge ?
135  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Anyone Try Selling Bitcoin on eBay? on: December 15, 2013, 12:05:35 PM
Never sell BTC with PP or any other option that can be reversed if the buyer is a scammer.
Go for cash on localbitcoins or a trusted exchanger.

Don't you think it was fishy in the first place that they payed almost double for it?
136  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin won't take over the world. on: December 15, 2013, 12:03:17 PM
My question is which country will allow buying with BitCoins? Buying with BTC-s will avoid paying taxes, so which country will like that?

Do you really think that by buying with BTC you can avoid taxes? How do you think this actually works in practice?
137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: In Dogecoin I trust. on: December 15, 2013, 11:59:03 AM
Can't be as bad as SexCoin?

Sexcoin is another altcoin based on....  Nothing.

Dogecoin is an altcoin based on a highly popular internet meme with huge brand recognition.

I think we know which one is going to succeed here.

I know which of them is going to succeed , nonecoin.

I remember when litecoin came out, and people were saying it would fail too.

And look at it now.

Cryptocurrency + wildly popular internet meme = wildly popular cryptocurrency.

Do you consider LTC  a success?
They are desperately trying to get somebody to accept ltc and failing miserably.
Remember project Atlantis? Although I'm pretty sure you have no clue about it.
Price isn't an indicator of success.
People tend to mix those two things.

Just an example. Youtube it's a hit , everyone loves Youtube , although the site is making Google lose more that 100mils every year.
So , it's a failure Smiley

how dafauq is it failure?
google earns massive amounts of money from youtube ad revenue
I don't even know what you're talking about Cheesy

Youtube was losing 450 millions in 2009.
Since then numbers have gone down , but still , youtube loses money.
Those servers aren't paid with money earned from ads , they are payed by the others services google runs.
That's why they are introducing payed subscriptions! Because they can't afford to keep it loosing investors money!

Also , this is the main reason , that after the first year google has refused to make public any numbers about the running cost /revenues.
138  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is there any legal requirements for running a digital content marketplace? on: December 15, 2013, 11:53:33 AM
Hello guys. I've been thinking of making a digital content marketplace but before continuing, I'd like to ask if there is any legal requirements for running a digital content marketplace for Bitcoins. Smiley

I'd really appreciate any bit of information. Thanks. Cheesy

You need to tell us in which country you plan to have your digital market up and running.
And in most cases ( since there is a low probability you try to do this in the US , for which we know the answers) , you'd better contact a local lawyer:).

I live in the Philippines and currently want the digital marketplace to operate internationally if possible like Envato marketplaces. Yes, thanks for that and yeah, I've been searching for local lawyers here who are well-versed in terms of the internet-context laws. Also, my marketplace wouldn't accept any fiat currency and only will accept Bitcoins. Smiley

Wait.
I seem to have got this wrong. What do you mean by digital market place?
A store selling goods for bitcoins?
Or an exchanger for btc/alt coins.
139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much bitcoin was cheated off you before? BTC Scammability Index on: December 15, 2013, 11:50:45 AM
lost 225 BTC "purchasing" ASIC hardware that never existed, from a guy named Tom based in the USA no less. he still sells fpgas on btcfpga.com. this happened about a year ago when btc was worth $12

edit:  looks like btcfpga.com has changed since last i looked. i hope that dick got what was coming to him.

That's a horrible amount of bitcoins to lose Sad

Yep, he probably used a few scammed bitcoins to get the site redone .....

You sound surprised you got scammed by someone in the USA?

How many people have been arrested for bitcoin-related scams?

1) Silk Road Owner
2) Some guys that in China that ran a virtual exchange

Any others?

Under charges: 1) Trendon T. Shavers.
And that is one big fishie Smiley
140  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: WTB .02 BTC via PayPal on: December 15, 2013, 11:44:24 AM
I'm needing to buy .02 coins in order to buy something on Silk Road.  I can be trusted, i've completed PayPal to BTC transactions before.  PM me if interested.

Err ... Silk Road shut down like a month or two ago. I'm not buying the "I can be trusted" line, sorry.

SilkRoad v2 is up and running , or at least it was a week ago.
But , bitcoins and paypal..... people never learn.
