Thank you  Smiley I was a newbie too and i learned a lot from these posts and threads. They are very informational and helpful when you need help and answers.

There you go! That’s the spirit! I would like to see you grow here. Looking forward to cross paths with you guys again someday here in the forum look a lot stronger and smarter about the community. Just remember to always look after other newbies out there that wants to quit because of slow progress. Patience is the key, and I can see that in you. Good job!
122  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies, don’t feel unwelcome. on: April 05, 2018, 02:49:58 PM
Have joined bitcointalk since January but ,unfortunately due to my IP, I couldn't post. Now, I've been enabled but my  rank is still on "brand new". I will like to know how long it takes to get to the next rank.

I think you already ranked up to newbie. Just be patient and learn a lot more about quality posting and the basic rules here in the forum. Ask informative questions and give ideas if you have good ones. Study hard about the community and be ready to commit. Understand the environment and learn from your experiences. While you’re doing it, you won’t expect that you’ve been ranking up. Be consistent, always.
123  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies, don’t feel unwelcome. on: April 05, 2018, 02:45:45 PM
Thanks for the insight and encouragement. I am new to the cryptocurrency world and trying to learn as much as possible. I have already purchased bitcoin and am looking for a source of passive income. Any ideas where to go would be well received. I need some initial startup capital as well.

You can always start ranking up here and try to join bounties. That can help you earn a starting income and probably more than you expected. After earning some in bounties, continue to do it while studying the game of trading. Put your earnings to the trading game and you can earn a lot. Just remember to study first and don’t rush things. Good luck to you good sir.
124  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to know when to sell? on: April 04, 2018, 04:01:46 PM
There’s no predicted peak for selling that is 100% accurate. That’s a curse, and that’s also the beauty of it. It’s always based on your own trust and faith. Some are really close to call themselves as accurate traders. Try to learn more about the market, the flow and some charts. It will help you on your trade. Especially if you’re waiting too long to sell coins. Good luck!
125  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Bitcoin is pretty easy on: April 04, 2018, 03:45:43 PM
That's nice. Hopefully I could be a successful trader as you are. However I think we should just enjoy it now and probably expect for the worst on the later part. When holding coins, it's not always a win win, of course you will have a downside soon. Everyone experience that and of course you should just come back stronger and don't stop from there.

As much as possible put your money or earnings to good investments outside the world of crypto, so that you won't depend on something that you can experience worst case scenarios. Good luck to you sir and more power.

This one’s just for April fools day. And I gotta say, this prank did alarm everyone in the community. Who would know an admin here will put a prank on our faces. But really, we could use a good laugh once in a while. Being too serious with our jobs here would be stressful. A good play from the admins that gave us a good laugh and also a thing to think about. Props to our admins for doing a good job for our community.
127  Other / Meta / Re: New new rank requirements on: April 02, 2018, 05:38:38 AM
April fools!

I was surprised (and laughing) at how many people took this seriously. I thought that this was way more obvious than last year, but I guess not.

 - Politeness was how many times you used "please", "sir", "pardon", "apprecia*", "may I", "thanks", and "thank you" in past posts. This is poking a bit of fun at the people who are unnecessarily polite like this.
 - Imagination was how many times you posted an image tag in past posts.
 - Coins was how many distinct "coins" you mentioned in past posts. A coin was reckoned as any three-letter acronym (so Satoshi got several from things like "FYI" and "CIA"), as well as any word ending in "coin" (like "Bitcoin"). It was distinct coins, so if you posted the word "bitcoin" 100 times, that'd still only count as 1.
 - fMerit was calculated according to the posted algorithm. That algorithm is, as nullius pointed out, the min of three runs with different seeds of a linear congruential pseudorandom number generator using the glibc constants.
 - Virtue was the edit distance between your name and "Lauda". Wink
 - Karma was as described.

Part of the joke with Conway's Game of Life is that since the game is turing-complete, figuring out whether a given configuration terminates equals the halting problem, which is undecidable in the general case. (Though it's maybe not actually undecidable with only an 8x10 input board.) The other part of the joke is that it's just so ridiculous to decide rank in this way, but I guess a lot of people didn't pick up on that...

I had kind of wanted to actually have a running game-of-life board in JavaScript on everyone's profile, but I didn't have time.

(BTW, when are we getting Conway-GoL-Coin? It's Turing-complete! Wink)

I guess we all have to laugh sometimes here and make our community more exciting. Props to you sir and surely I’ll be prepared next time  Cheesy
128  Other / Meta / Re: New new rank requirements on: April 02, 2018, 04:35:15 AM
So basically what will happen here is you will need to be qualified for the old system, activities and merits. Then alao be qualified for the new system? That’s nice, I think the best thing to do is just keep what you’ve been doing for the past days without thinking about the new system, and the let the system itself generate your scores. Less thinking, less hassle. Good luck to all of us.

well try to do the sam as what you have done in obtaining merits. thank you for opening this thread and give us thw idea to obtain merit.

You’re welcome good sir. And feel free to encourage other people to join our community as well. That would really benefit the world of cryptocurrency. Have a wonderful day ahead!

Feel free to investigate. Is it not allowed here to be helped by a friend? And also join campaigns together? I’m just a newbie and my friend has a lot of experience. And FYI, have you read my thread that was merited? Feel free to check our IPs. I’d like to see where your sarcasm leads you to.

Half of your merit is from a friend, that does not count as  merit from

The key is to research well, learn about how the world of crypto works, and learn how the system here works

That is getting around the merit system by asking a friend to give you merits. Your lucky cause you got friend with s-merits. You can't brag you ranked up, you ranked up because a friend donated some merits.

Well I didn’t asked for merits tho. He saw my post, was proud of it considering I’m posting quality posts like I’m not a newbie. If my friend really wanted to give me merits, he could’ve done it as soon as I posted my first thread then. And he could’ve merited all of my posts then. Have you read my thread that was merited good sir? If not don’t judge just yet.
132  Other / Meta / Re: How hard it is to Rank up? on: March 30, 2018, 03:23:29 PM
I think you're a really lucky guy Wink. Received 6 Merit from the same member in 11 March in few minutes for old posts don't really helpful from Feb. Beside you and creepyjas are being in the same bounty campaign. LOL

Don't know how other people think about this case but I feel it's really shady. Grin. Maybe DT member should take a look at this case

I don't know. But I can see a lot of members tagged with the same reason like this  Roll Eyes. You no need a hand from your friend if your posts are good enough to be merited.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3162720.msg32707628#msg32707628

I think you should take a look at this one. These guys also said that they're friend in real life but still tagged. LOL

I’ve seen a lot of your posts there about account related people and other accounts accused of being owned by a single pilot. But before you judge, investigate much further. Some of those people are not owned by a single person but innocent. Have you even read the thread that was merited by my friend. That was the post that really caught his attention. We’re here, taking our bitcointalk seriously. Giving efforts like it’s our real job. Then you’d go around accusing people right away if there’s a connection between 2 accounts? My friend asked me to join my first bounty campaign with him. I was so excited until you showed up to accuse and judge us. Feel free to investigate. Even our wallets are purely authenticated.

I think all of the newbies here will answer “really really hard”...

Let me tell you something. I started joining bitcointalk ever since this new merit system was implemented. So you can probably call me as one of the “lucky” ones starting with zero merits in our pockets. The key is to research well, learn about how the world of crypto works, and learn how the system here works. By then I wasn’t that sure that I have a future here, but here I am now.

My rank is not that high, but let me tell you something. For each time you rank up, you will be so proud of yourself and so excited to get to the next rank. And everything else will follow. With this merit system, you will strive to learn, research, and create quality posts for the benefit of the community. Yes it’s hard to earn merits, but it will mold you to strive for your best.

Instead of crying about how hard the new merit system is for the newbies, why not make it a strength for you to strive. That’s what i did. Good luck newbies, don’t give up. I’m so happy I was able to get this far. I just got ranked up today as a member, but as of now I still call myself a newbie, that’s what strives me to work hard here.

It's funny cause you're actually doing the exact opposite of these people which are "begging for merits", but are indirectly by "not begging for merits" hoping that you get merits. Honestly it seems a bit hypocritical to me, all these posts that you're making.

Why else would you keep hammering on "earning" merit?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3003801.msg30899454#msg30899454

It seems that you've done a pretty good job so far earning your merits by high-horsing people who are indirectly begging for merit. Oh wait..  Wink

I appreciate your time to take a look at my posts and criticize them. I don’t know about you but before you judge someone, you must know their back story. I personally studied how the merit system works for us newbies since that’s our main problem as of the moment since merit system is just newly implemented when I started. Just saying what’s in the heart man. Have a great day.

As i post above, this 2 account is from one person. He farms account.
creepyjas (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=959979) is Sr.member and has 250 merit. But he only give away 9 merit? 6 of that to Woterry? His merit status here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=959979
He is not like a person who willing to give away merit to who deserve it. His last post statistic show he always stay in ANN Announcements (Altcoins) board.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=959979;sa=showPosts;start=20

Like I said, feel free to check our IPs. I think a friend meriting high quality posts from a friend is better than buying merits or creating multiple accounts to get one right? Feel free to acuse. I’m not aware that it’s in the rules stating “Helping a friend is not allowed here”.

The new system isn't here to prevent people to rank up if they want to learn and integrate, the system was implemented to prevent the torrent of shitposting pajeets coming here to fuck up the forum. Well done on the level up and I guarantee you won't struggle to keep levelling up if you keep up the good work bud.

Thank you so much good sir. I really worked hard everyday for this as I wanted to achieve a lot like my friends who also worked hard here to help their families and their parents. Really want to showcase what I’ve got and prove everyone that I’m something.

137  Other / Meta / Re: Idea on how to prevent merit abusing on: March 30, 2018, 02:44:15 PM
Hi all. I was reading about all the merit related topics for some time, for the obvious reason.

I found there is such a thing as merit abuse, when highly merited users create alt accounts and give them merit, trade merit or exchange merit back and forth.

Wouldn't it be cool to treat merit as a sort-of-currency and a "meriting" as a transaction which requires some fee? Say, to give 10 merit you need to pay 1 merit fee and this fee is going to be destroyed?

What you think guys?

This is a tough one, but this will really change the game. Merits will increase their value and it is much more hard to get one and reward one even though the person getting a merit is worthy to receive one. It would be hard for the one rewarding the merit. Yes it can be a prevention, but it will cause risks. It’s much better to just report people abusing it rather than letting others suffer the consequences.

140  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading without knowledge on: March 28, 2018, 04:22:35 PM
A lot of people do trading even if they don't know nothing about it and some people succeed on that but most of them failed.
One of the reason why I think they do that, is because of GREED which can result to a big loss for them.

Start with education, make a lot of research, do some practice trading online
and use it later on in real life. Don't rush to earn money because in trading its hard to do so.

Are you a trader in mind but scared inside?
Be more patient, develop your emotion and win in this market.

I want to step in the trade game but I’m not ready yet. We just need to be patient to know enough so that we can trade the proper way. For now just research, learn a lot here in the forum. And start small. If you want to gamble make sure you’re experienced enough to do it. Good luck to everyone.
