All day I have a problem with the connection to vtcpool.co.uk. CGMiner starts and stops working. The situation is the same on all computers. Notification is always the same:

Most of VTC pools have been attacking by DDoS.
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTC] Vertcoin - Adaptive N-factor in Scrypt - No more ASICs on: February 04, 2014, 04:18:34 PM
All pools inefficient now  Sad

I have left http://vert.bitcrush.info/ because its a total crap pool and switched to heavy industries. But it started to find blocks 3 years after few hours of mining too like other crap pools....

vert.bitcrush.info has by far the highest withdrawal fees. 0.4 VTC for manual payouts!!!

Please try ny.vertco.in, no fee, tx fee 0.001 vtc

hmm heey guys i cant download de CPU miner look here
from the firsr page this topic download link :

I'm hate to say this sentence, but cpuminers generally are detected by antivirus companies due to there are several botnets running this program.
So, the best way is reporting to Nod32 that this file is a clean file or adding the file to Igone list.

well i have downloaded CPU miners  1000xxxxx of them, never had this issue please gina a onther link i can acces that web pls

https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share?s=D_fMD9YnSuMm5b8Ldi-jiA

Hello!

Our pool http://vtc.coinsprofit.com/ (88.198.14.73) does not receive a
block in the network Vertcoin. 300% shares already done. What could be
the reason?  Huh

Pool operators, please note that to make MPOS display the correct interval between difficulty adjustments, you will want to update /var/www/MPOS/public/include/config/global.inc.php to set
$config['coindiffchangetarget'] = 1; - please do this on fork day, at or as near to block 26754 as you can.

Article: http://www.followthecoin.com/interview-creator-vertcoin/[1]

Intervier Question:
In theory, the hash rate should drop to half what you get from mining other Scrypt coin due to the N number, and will drop with this rate following the scheduled time. In the long run, CPU miners will gain an advantage from the memory requirement, but GPUs will still be able to mine at a dramatically decreased rate due to memory requirements, which GPUs have less than CPUs.

Creator Answer:
This situation will happen in the future. Only one case that GPUs will get higher hash rate than CPU in this future scenario is if AMD or Nvidia are able to create GPUs that have local memory per thread equal or more than the requirement in the schedule time.

So, if I am reading this right , Vertcoin will not be picked up by people who have GPU farms. Personally, I just ordered a big rig and now I am scratching my head as to what the hell is going to happen. Back to doge I guess for that rig...

I will need to try CPU mining once I get home, but this is very concerning. I was shocked my 1.5MH/s rig was getting 600-700kH/s, but I was ok with that. Yet, apparently that is going to increasingly go down.

So a realistic question will the value of Vertcoin out pace the difference in value that could be gained from mining a different coin at your higher hash rate.

Example: I can mine X 'pretend-coin" a day making ?.???BTC a day with my 1.5 MH/s. Or I can mine X Vertcoin a day making ?.???BTC a day with my < 600 kH/s (and decreasing).

If that makes sense...

Please take a look at the schedule time of N :

As you can see, it is almost 2 years for changing N. In this case, your currently GPUs will not be able to mine Vertcoin in Sat, 30 Sep 2017 04:45:29 GMT or N = 8192 or 3.7 years from now.

...I will put up 30VTC towards that bounty if other people here will match enough to cover the total cost...

This sounds like a good idea, I think the tech side of VTC is sound and the dev's seem to be doing a good job behind the scenes, but now we need a marketing push to get more attention. This seems like a different approach from other alts, which is good.

I'm also happy to add 30VTC to the bounty.

I will put my 50 VTC to this campaign.
131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTC] Vertcoin - Adaptive N-factor in Scrypt - No more ASICs on: January 31, 2014, 04:19:22 AM

Hey not to change the subject (I would totally hook my laptop up to a pool but everyone tells me I will burn it up. Also I don't know how so it's fine I will just buy them) but really see the importance of promotion/exposure with coins in general. VTC has a lot of advantages where most of what is out there is relying on hype or marketing. I know multiple translations are in progress, and also the fork is ~this weekend and exchange announcements etc.

So have you guys thought of using PR Newswire?

http://www.prnewswire.com/

I don't know how much effect it would have outside the existing community but it is fairly inexpensive. $200-250 a year and I think a small fee per press release. I have used them in the past to promote businesses in the mainstream financial industry and their reach is impressive.

If Vertcoin wants to open an account, I would be able to put out fairly frequent press releases, same as any company does announcing new products or developments with the market (new exchange listings etc).

This is in my experience the best way to get information out to where it can be picked up beyond the existing community without full time PR people. If the idea is to get to bitcoin/litecoin scale it may be advantageous to position outside altcoin forumland fairly early on.

just putting it out there and if there's any interest I'll draft up some releases.

hello, I am new to vertcoin.
I have a computer with DUAL AMD opteron 4171 HE and 14GB memory and windows OS
I am using minerd for quark and the hasing speed when I mine quark is around 700kh (on all 8 cores together)

when I mine with vertcoin minerd the speed is around 7kh
is that normal?
how many vertcoins per day should I expect?

thanks

(8:47:13 AM) VertBot`: At 7KH/s (With N=2048 which is equivalent to 14KH/s with regular scrypt), you should make 0.54 VTC per day at current diff.

Bitcoin fell by almost 11% in 24 hours between 27 and 28 January - a drop partly blamed on the arrest of BitInstant currency exchange CEO and Bitcoin Foundation vice president Charlie Shrem.

But some currencies suffered even greater losses; litecoin fell more than 12%, dogecoin fell 14% and lesser-known infinitecoin saw its value fall by more than 25%. Only vertcoin, which is worth $0.36 per coin, saw growth, up nearly 13%.

Great news !

How about a concerted effort to get this on BTER? Smiley

Do you know of a commonly used method of requesting new listings on Bter?

I used to send them an email, but nothing response.

Has anyone figured out a way to solo mine vtc with cudaminer? I'm looking into it now but haven't found much help anywhere.

You can try to ask in this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=416572.140, I think he can help you solve it out.

The new wallet with Kimotos Gravity Well and updated N-factor scheduling is now available.

THIS IS A MANDATORY UPDATE - PLEASE UPDATE YOUR WALLET NOW

We have chosen a fork height of block 26754 which should occur on or around Saturday 1st February 2014 (5 days from wallet release). Difficulty will retarget every block after this block height.

We have also backported all the fixes from Litecoin 0.8.6.2, so this release is Vertcoin 0.8.6.2

Please use the following links rather than using vertcoin.org to download the new wallet, the links on vertcoin.org
are to the new updated wallet, but it would be appreciated if you would please use the links below instead to spread
the server load.

0.8.6.2 changes

  • Fork to Kimoto Gravity Well difficulty adjustment at block 26754 (Around midday UTC on 1st February 2014)
  • Implement new N-factor schedule
