This is a much improved Super Eagles, different from what we have seen from the start of the tournament. My man of the match is A. Lookman, he was fantastic in the game tonight. Also Victor Osimhen was a standout player and played a key role in helping us win the game. Congratulations to Nigeria, tonight we played against two sides, Ghana and Cameroon and we scored one goal for each of them.

I know there are lots of Nigerian posters on the forum so I’m rooting for you guys tonight.

There is not long to go, only 13 minutes to play against Cameroon and The Super Eagles lead 1-0. The quarter final is not far away.
Thanks for your support @LFC_Bitcoin, the Super Eagles went on to win the game 2-0.

Cameroon are the better side when it comes to the midfield play. But they have not being able to do any real damage. Their attack have been weak, kudus to the Nigerian defense. Nigeria has done a great job in the first 45 minutes. I expect a more feisty game in the second half. I wouldn’t mind if the manager switches to a full defense and try to not concede a goal.

Nigeria v Cameroon
The first half has begin and Ajayi has opened it with a goal for Nigeria in 9 minutes but later the goal was rules out after the VAR review but still the game is going just that Cameroon are dominating the ball possession 63%, this allowing the goal will even make Cameroon strong because early goal like that make a team weak because the winner will like to be strict with their own and try to defence very well, they have equal chances created, let just wait an see the end of the game because is difficult to predict right now.
Though we had our first goal cancelled as an offside. The super Eagles has found the back of net once again leading the game 1-0. I’m excited but I also know Cameroon has come from behind in several games so that means they know how to fight back. This is the time we need to take our chances and convert them to goals. Super Eagles legend, Jay Jay Okacha is on the stands watching the Super Eagles, many of the players on the pitch grew up watching this man is more motivation for the players to give their all tonight.

Nigeria vs Cameroon, this match will definitely be the tough one because the teams are base on the same performance which is the reason I said it going to be tough the both teams manage to finished in second in the table just the Nigeria have more points than cameroon.
Interestingly, I just checked the lineups for the Nigeria - Cameroon match, and has speculated, André Onana is in the starting eleven. It seems the coach doesn’t have faith in the Manchester United goalkeeper who was a sensation in Ajax before coming to the premier league last season. The Cameroonians seem to think André Onana will cost them the game tonight and chose to bench him. This is a classic “no player is bigger than the club” moment for Cameroon.
127  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON 2023 on: January 27, 2024, 07:11:29 PM
It’s full time and Angola has the victory with 3 goals to nil. The round of 16 kicked off with a great performance, it’s always fun to watch a match with a lot of goals. I hope the Super Eagles can pick the momentum and get a convincing win tonight. So far, all our wins have been slim wins, 1-1; 0-1; 0-1.

It’s so obvious that all we do is look for Vicor Osimhen, the midfielders are not taking a shot at goal. The players seem to scared of taking their chance at goal, they are always looking to pass the ball to Victor Osimhen. This is something that the coach needs to change.
128  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON 2023 on: January 27, 2024, 06:58:11 PM

The people who criticize Osimhen as a poor striker are simply disinterested in him, even though he is giving it his all in this AFCON. Osimhen is already familiar with Napoli's playing style, and the Nigerian team's style differs from Osimhen's because they haven't played together before; the AFCON is the only event that brings them together. That's the reason we occasionally witness the guy finding the match so challenging.

Correction. People are criticizing Victor Osimhen as a striker. This is not the first time Victor Osimhen has played with this team. You have to remember that he’s the star player of the team and if he’s not doing so well, it is expected that the media and the fans will criticize his performance. The Super Eagles strategy is built around Victor Osimhen, everytime they hold the ball, they are always looking for Victor Osimhen. The players are not adventurous and are not taking chances for themselves.

The first round of 16 games in the AFCON, Angola - Namibia has kicked off. This match is a test of their will to make history, both teams are super hyped and have the full support of their respective countries. Keep in mind the winner of this match will face Nigeria (God willingly) in the last 8.

Nigeria vs Cameroon will start later. Rumours is circulating that Onana may not be starting the match. This is surprising because Onana is a brilliant goalkeeper and plays for one of the biggest clubs in English football. Cameroon may just be making a grave mistake by benching Onana.
130  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON 2023 on: January 27, 2024, 02:55:01 AM
Serious I have the same thing going on in my mind as you, and that is why once I come across this post, that’s why I quote it. However, Oshimen is not really doing well in the AFCON this time around, and I’m surprised at how he plays for Napoli and comes back home playing the way he is doing now because if the striker had put in effort and done what he is doing in Napoli, he would have scored a goal, but the player is not doing as expected seriously. And it weakens me down. Any time Nigeria has a match, I always don’t put high expectations on them because I always think they won’t win due to how the players are doing.

You’re missing the point. No one is saying Victor Osimhen is a bad striker. When we look at the Nigerian national team, there is no striker in the Super Eagles that comes close to Victor Osimhen and we would be doing him a disservice if we say he’s not a good striker. Osimhen was highest goal scorer in the qualifiers and was also instrumental in the World Cup qualifiers as well.

We have had several encounters with Cameroon, historically Cameroon has been a tough opponent for the Super Eagles. We will need a new strategy otherwise we won’t survive the today’s game. I think Peseiro should add another striker to play in front with Victor Osimhen.

Ok so where Klopp is going next?

Manchester United?
I read the news this morning that Jurgen Klopp may be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season. Looking at his time at Liverpool, I think Klopp is a success for Liverpool, he is easily one of the top 5 managers in the premier league currently and finding a replacement for him will be difficult but I won’t call him a EPL legend. This is his ninth year at Liverpool, and he has only won one premier league title. He has delivered on other promises but has not been able to get a impressive record of winning the league title.
132  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON 2023 on: January 25, 2024, 10:44:43 PM

Osimhen is an elite striker. Perhaps, He's not to everyone's taste but arguments can't be made against his consistency & progression across 3 leagues & teams. It goes against every grain of common sense to focus exclusively on AFCON as a test of his abilities when none of the shining stars has particularly come to the fore.

Honestly I think we are all only criticizing them because they have not been winning convincingly.
Imagine osimhen scored the two clear chances he had in the first game. Then, same in the second and third.
Plus all the wrongly disallowed goal will we be saying they are underperforming? Maybe he’s too relax, but he is the best in the squad, you just can’t drop him for another striker.
Which wrongly disallowed goal? The officiating has been spot on in the tournament, you cannot deny that. No doubt Victor Osimhen is an incredible player, we are not disputing that fact. He has the trophies and accolades to prove that. But if we are being honest, Osimhen hasn’t been impressive in this tournament so far. If he is having trouble syncing with the other players or he’s lost his confidence, he should have that problem fixed before Saturday’s game.

Congratulations to the host nation, Ivory Coast for qualifying for the rounds of 16 ahead of Ghana. It would have been a shame if the hosts were to leave the tournament in the knockout stages. Some people are upset that CAF is not using the regular FIFA format of pairing teams. I’m one of those who do not see a problem with the system CAF is using.

For the game on Saturday. I think Ghana would have been a stronger rival for Nigeria than Cameroon. Comparing both sides, the Super Eagles are not scoring goals but they are very good defensively. On the other hand Cameroon are scoring but they have conceded more goals in the tournament. If we can get Victor Osimhen to play like he does at Napoli, we will sure of victory.
134  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON 2023 on: January 24, 2024, 11:02:53 PM

Cameron will end the career of Nigeria football in this AFCON tournament and tomorrow evening Nigerian players will come home. And all the games in the AFCON today were draw. Namibia drew with Mali 0-0. South Africa which I was thinking that would win their march drew with Tunisia. And Tunisia was very strong in the back days of 2005 which was the year they scored Nigeria. Tanzania also drew with Dr. Congo  then Zambia and Morocco was the game I had an interest to to watch today.

I am not in support of Nigeria team tomorrow because their games give high blood pressure. But let see how the outcome will be.
That’s very sad to hear from a Nigerian. You should at least try having some faith in your team. Cameroon haven’t been impressive in the tournament so far, why would you write Nigeria off to a opponent that’s not even better than them? I can’t say I’m pleased with the style of football José Peseiro making our boys play. Nigerians are calm because he's getting the results miraculously. In the end what is important in football is the three points.

P.S. The game between Nigeria and Cameroon is on Saturday. You keep saying tomorrow. Are you even following the AFCON?

135  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can a social or casual good guesser make better gambling prediction carrier? on: January 24, 2024, 10:23:38 PM

I am concerned to ask, can such a person build a gambling carrier with such an excellent guessing prohibition? Or he should trash it all and believe that gambling predictions remains a game of luck?

Two things. One, gambling is for fun, and two, gambling (slots or sports betting) is a game of luck. I don’t get why anyone would want to make a career out of it. Your colleague may have been lucky today and made accurate guesses but that should not be considered a sign that he can be a successful gambler. Try playing the same game tomorrow and see if he makes the same amount of accurate guesses. Also he wasn’t gambling today as there was no money on the table. A person’s prediction can be influenced when there is a risk of losing money.
136  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON 2023 on: January 24, 2024, 09:59:09 PM
Cameroon vs Nigeria will be one very fun match to watch as these are two top African teams. What’s similar between them is that, they haven’t been able to attain their full potentials as Giants of Football in Africa. While Nigeria is lacking the shooting strength upfront, Cameroon aren’t looking composed at the defense. So I think this match will be worn by the midfield. The team with the best midfield perfomance might claim the victory.

Cameroon vs Nigeria is a game of rivals and is going to be a very interesting match. Of course I will be rooting for my home team. I really hope they can get the win on Saturday. Judging by their previous performances in the AFCON, I don’t think Cameroon are going to be a threat to the Super Eagles.

As for the Mo Salah situation, I think Mo Salah is underrating his importance to his country.  And does not have passion for the AFCON. It’s true he cannot play football for the national team because of injury but his presence would be motivation for his teammates. He’s not an outspoken player like Christiano Ronaldo that can dish out instructions from the sidelines but his mere presence would be a psychological boost to the team.
137  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you been able to win a game given to you in the dream? on: January 24, 2024, 08:39:47 PM
This is new to me, I did not know people have such dreams. The only time I have heard such a thing was from the Ben Carson book “Gifted Hands” where he claimed he got the answers to his exam questions in a dream the night before. I can barely remember my dreams and I’m 100percent certain I’ve never had any dream where I was gambling. I guess I’m not gambling that much to get to that level where my subconscious still thinks of betting games. Only someone who has lost a lot of money and found himself in a hole will be desperate enough to start having and believing such dreams.
138  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON 2023 on: January 24, 2024, 06:02:57 PM
Mo Salah picked up an muscle injury in the match against Ghana, it was a minor injury that only takes a couple of weeks to heal. Liverpool are now requesting that Salah should come back to the club for “rehabilitation”. It’s a difficult situation for Salah, he is the captain of the Egyptian national team, leaving his teammates now would be like a captain abandoning his ship because his contribution is so important to their success. If Salah leaves for England, his teammates and country will definitely feel bad about it and may not forgive him.
139  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON 2023 on: January 23, 2024, 09:52:00 PM

Many Nigerian fans are quite disappointed with the performances of the Super Eagle in this competition, the team hardly retain any string of passes before being dispossessed by their opponents and most of the match played they team sat back and play defensively leaving on Osimhen off front thus isolated him without any support that is why only few chances was created by the team even the few chances that came their way Osimhen squandered them, many supporters are of the opinion that the team might not pass the round of 16 based on the average and mediocre performance displayed by team so far, they narrowly won two of their matches and scored only 2 goals apart from own goal scored by Guinea Bissau player.
The Super Eagles have been solid defensively but we do not have a good attack. I think it’s a problem of methodology, that’s why we are not having enough goals in this tournament. José Peseiro needs to change the team’s style of play to something more technical ahead of the game against Cameron on Saturday.

Ivory Coast losing four goals to nil to Equatorial Guinea was a big shock. This was the host team and they couldn’t even get a goal against their opponent. The last time Nigeria hosted the AFCON, they won. When Ghana hosted the AFCON, they also won. It’s disappointing to see Ivory Coast struggling so early in the tournament.
140  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What You will do in this situation? on: January 23, 2024, 09:06:45 PM
A few days ago, my house was being cleaned. Three people are cleaning the front and back yards of the house. One of them was playing slots and I saw him. Actually, I wanted to suggest he try sports betting because I often see the guy watching football matches and he does have knowledge about many teams. So I was wondering if I could introduce him to sports betting so he could use his ability to predict every game he knows about.

Besides that, I just feel that if he deposited $10 = IDR 150,000 into a gambling site just to play slots, he would probably suffer a complete loss. But if he can place bets on sports betting, there is a possibility of him winning some money on small bets. Wouldn't that be an advantage for him?

If you were in this situation, what would you do? Introduce him to sports betting or let him stick to playing slots. Yesterday, I just let it go but we still often meet at other activities.
I don’t mean to rude but you should not be meddling in other people’s business. What’s it to you if he’s into slots and not sports betting? If I were in that situation, I would mind my business and behave as if I have no idea that they are gambling unless you both have a close relationship.

I bet on football matches more than I play slot games. This is because I’m a huge football fan and I watch all the top leagues, I know the players and the teams so it’s easy to make predictions on what team is going to win. But even at that, I still have a lot of losses because football can happen.
