121  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [FS] Drop-in bracket to mount 7 GPUs at the front of a Rosewill server chassis on: May 29, 2017, 09:20:40 PM
Ok then do you know what is the maximum length the gpu can be and still have the the middle fans installed?

Thank you
Unfortunately, I can't answer that question right now (I recently moved the shop 3000 miles and don't have access to my Rosewell case atm).

Hi,
I am interested in 1 as a tryout but wanted to know first of all. In your pictures, i notice that you do not have the second row of fans? Is it to make the picture of the bracket easier to see or do you have to take that part out and cannot be reinserted?

Thank you

[/quote ]

Iirc the GPUs I was testing with were too long to reinstall the middle fans.

Anybody care to share pics of their rig using one of our brackets?

124  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [FS] All aluminum open-air case frames - many different versions - stackable. on: May 28, 2017, 07:01:24 PM
New models coming this week! All models can handle 7-8 GPUs and are stackable.

One PSU version, 24-inches wide (same footprint as the old "Wide Open-frame Mining Tray (one PSU)"):

Two PSU version, 26-inches wide:

Eleven Sapphire RX 580's and two EVGA 1300W PSU's all mounted on one of our frames.   Cool

It looks great. But there are two things:

1- They are tight. REALLY TIGHT ! What is the temp reading on these cards? Are they fine because I guess they are not.

2- I heard that getting more than 4 rx 5xx cards running is still an issue? How did you get it solved? Because apparently a lot of ppl need to know.

The motherboard is a Supermicro X9DRX+-F.

Client didn't answer my question about temps, only gave this info:

Hashtypes:
- MD5: 338.2 GH/s
- MD4: 574.7 GH/s
- SHA1: 126.2 GH/s
Note: 1 more GPU to be fitted and needs optimization.

Does there need to be some space between the GPUs and the fans for dummy plugs, and if so how long are the plugs?

127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Gauging interest in a (to be enclosed) frame to mount 6 GPUs for the home miner on: May 20, 2017, 01:53:13 PM
So would this include a frame for the motherboard and PSU as a separate unit or is this strictly for the GPUs?  You mention home miner so I'm guessing this wouldn't be 19" wide either.

Another  module could be used for the motherboard and PSUs, but I was initially thinking that those components would  simply rest on a shelf.

Indeed, this idea is not restricted by the 19-inch server rack standard.
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Gauging interest in a (to be enclosed) frame to mount 6-8 GPUs for home miner on: May 20, 2017, 04:40:27 AM
This thread is to gauge interest in a frame to mount 6 GPUs and three 120mm fans.  Enclosing the frame with some kind of sheeting is left as a DIY project for the at home miner.

The idea is to separate the motherboard and PSU(s) from the GPUs - while still fully enclosing the GPUs for optimal cooling - for a fraction of the cost of a server case.

The frame is completely modular, which will allow the fans to be mounted at either the front or back of the frame/case.

Thoughts/comments?

I have been using these.

They require making a framework/brackets to support the GPU's, and the front facing fans that originally mount to the bracketry you remove.  Other than that they are awesome cases.

You could also take the mid-bar of fans and put them at the front in the open hole to replace the specially mounted front ones;  We did it in one machine.  Works great.

But;  Replace all the fans with >120CFM fans.    Trust me.  It needs the airflow with more than 2 GPU.

Also;  if you are in a dusty environment;  remove the OEM front cover's filter and plastic housing.  Run filtration elsewhere, or at least something that flows better.

You have a picture of product?

A simple mechanical drawing or 3d model would be nice.  Grin

Might've misread your post but your including two PSUs? If so what brand and wattage

No computer hardware included.  The frames are built to hold either one or two ATX-style PSUs.
133  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [FS] All aluminum open-air case frames, stackable (NEW model in OP!) on: April 03, 2017, 04:32:32 PM
New model!

All aluminum, mining frames for 6-7 GPUs and 2 PSUs*:

...

* Computer hardware not included.

  • Made from anodized aluminum extrusions.
  • USB risers (not included) are safely bolted to the frame.
  • Twenty four-inches wide.  Spacing between 6 GPUs is ~3.5-inches, 7 GPUs is ~3-inches.
  • Safely bolt up to two ATX PSUs to the frame.
  • Motherboard bolts to frame via 5/8″ tall aluminum standoffs/spacers.
  • Stackable.
  • Ships as a kit.
  • Dimensions: 14.25 x 14.25 x 24-inches.

This frame for 7 GPUs is $135USD, plus shipping from Washington.  PayPal only.

I would like to possibly order the 7 GPU model, but cannot find it on your site.

No worries. Send me a PM or email and I'll get'em built for you.   Grin

@pikachuy I love how you leveraged the modularity of the extrusions to mount the PCIe Switch/Hub.   Cool

What is the distance from the top of the motherboard, to the bottom of the USB risers?

Setup is built around a 8 GPUs per daughterboard(the actual board I'm building). Two of my boards are connected to the mainboard (~$150). My current estimates are around 150 per board..so 300+100 = $450...I guess my estimate price is a bit too low for you then  huh Wink The current board I'm testing can physically connect a total of 18 GPUs since it has two extra PCIE slots...youll will just need risers for that last two (there is a possibility a future BIOS update I could make it to post with 3 or even 4 of my boards for a total of 32 GPUs, but I'm just working on 16 for now...plus I would need to work closely with miner devs for anything more than 16...I have slowly hinted them improvements which they have already implemented for multi GPU setups in the past year).
Also the board has status LEDs per GPU lane...if a GPU goes down you'll know right away which one it is, and yes if one GPU crashes the board will still work. This is no different than any other mutigpu setup, other than it having just more GPU lanes. Your doing something wrong if one GPU crash brings down your whole system.
Keep in mind that this price is mostly dependent on the quantities I can order for parts on the first batch. Obviously more boards = less price per board. I am also pretty much charging the cost of components + a small profit margin for me. The design + dev + testing + prototyping etc is all done by me so thats why I can price it so low.

Hey Man, could you share some pics, even a sketchup that would tell us about the size/layout of the daughter boards and the motherboards? I'm asking because it would give us a head start on building cases/frames for these boards.

I also asked for a simple mechanical drawing of the board.  Just the overall dimensions and mounting hole information would be a good start.   Roll Eyes

Do you have the link for the fan tab?

Listed on this page:  http://spotswoodcomputercases.com/wp/?page_id=1275

You can see the little black tab used to attach a fan to the extrusion in this pic:

I purchased this case like 2 days before your post, will your bracket fit in?

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147155

It will, but you will only be able to mount those two case fans/cages.  In order to mount a third fan, you will need to order a set of 4x fan tabs and all required fasteners, which is +$5.25

Is this still reversible to support blower style coolers?

Yes, you just need to let me know what version you want when ordering.   Grin

Does a version exist that supports both?

It could, but might be a few dollars more.

I'm no longer building the reversible version.
