121  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: As a newbie to crypto currency on: May 07, 2024, 05:22:18 AM
To be frank as a newbie or anyone avoid trading especially trading with Leverage. I know there are many Nigerians trading either stock, forex or crypto and its sometimes tempting when they say the figure they make but we usually fail to consider the figure they lost.

This year suppose to be open eye for everyone say na HODLers dey gain m, just see how market dey behave since january though we dey bull season but any small dip you go see news about hundreds millions way traders don lost from leverage while the HODLers dey continue to make profit, traders dey get wins and lost. If you try calculate the total money way don lost for leverage this year you go see say the money don reach billions. JUST HODL
122  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Mastering the art of delayed gratification on: May 07, 2024, 04:07:05 AM
For those that have probably stacked up Bitcoin for at least a circle or so and have built a great portfolio in the process, how where you guys able to cope with the issues of self gratification even when you have the resource to fulfilling such desire? Like, the desire to buy a car, upgrade your apartment or kind of improve on your lifestyle during the time you're still building your portfolio would have been an issue you dealt with. Let's share our experience so intending holders and those that have just started thier Bitcoin accumilation journey can learn from it.
Something I came to understand from the men in WO, is that if we all agree that Bitcoin is the best store of value which can say it is the new gold then we just have to continue HODLing after all it will be the best gift to keep for our children since it will continue to increase in value.

They see this as not really worth it but another thing is that if you have gotten to your stacking goal is not bad to scrap some profits from it for this if you really need it though this is just individual preference
123  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Federal Government Plans to Delist Naira p2p on Crypto Exchange. on: May 06, 2024, 08:49:21 PM
Nigeria has the official rate and parallel market rate. The crypto exchange traders deal with the parallel market rate. But CBN increased the official rate to $1600 few weeks ago. Is it crypto P2P that caused it? They should continue to deceive us.
Actually they are only deceiving those having little knowledge about crypto space and those who knows nothing about crypto space or who may still consider this fraud

Quote
P2P trading will not stop in Nigeria. Let them continue to deceive themselves. They want Nigerians to remain holding naira which they can control and devalue.
This is the truth outside P2P in DEX our local exchanges can not be shut down, people will continue no matter what since this has been the source of living for many

Quote
They want people to use the rate that will not favour but which will indirectly be extortion.
Just like they did earlier this year and I guess our GDP  will still drop more before the year ends and also the naira to dollar may get to possibly 1800naira this year again, all for their favour.
124  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: AltCoins hypes re similar to politicians promises during campaigns on: May 06, 2024, 07:12:02 PM
People who invest on these meme coins and think through they will become millionaires are those living a life of fantasy which is blinded by greed for them to see the high risk involved.

The dev team can do anything to market their coin simply because they are broke and need to make money from their project, they literally don't really care about their investors and that's why there are many scam from it like ICO scam and many more.

-snip-
While bitcoin being the first crypto currency which has never fluctuated from its fundamental potentials right from the origin of development...
To be Frank this is not entirely true, Bitcoin is not the same like what's written on the whitepaper especially from the addition of Ordinals and Runes which are entirely not needed on blockchain, making fee congested which makes many bitcoiners opt for some altcoin like monero and likes .

Though when it comes to HODLing or investing in cryptography, Bitcoin is still the best and this is one thing that had been constantly true since its creation, after all it's the best store of value, that's why it's called the new gold, it will remain with time.
125  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: May 06, 2024, 01:57:35 PM
Hasn't Xavi decided to stay for one more season? as has been reported and supported by Xavi statement “We have to change and improve a lot to compete next year. We can’t give away games like this”. This means there is no option for a new coach at Barcelona, after the failure against Girona it doesn't mean the hunt for runners up is over but as you said it's no longer exciting. For Barcelona and Girona it's just a matter of pride regarding the race for runners up. Meanwhile Madrid will relax and watch the two clubs fighting for second place.

Barcelona future all depends on Laporta policies, whether Xavi will fully get support to overhaul the squad. If I'm not mistaken, Barcelona getting a large injection of funds from sponsor NIKE might be good news for improving the team next season.
As it seems Xavi will likely stay, I don't think he will be sack either since this money will be in a better use for them to get more players in case of similar situations of injury crisis though I have to agree Xavi still has to improve in his tactics and in his relationship with some players but I believe if he will stay the board will definitely have meetings about this with him since fans are getting tired of him
126  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Aviator games on: May 06, 2024, 01:07:15 PM
Why don't we talk about aviator games here? It looks like the least played casino game. I don't understand it is there anyone who plays it and what's it like? I have watched YouTube videos on it, but still don't get how it works. And the conversations here about it is scanty.
I don't think it's because it's less popular that's why it's scanty to be frank in my country when you see gamblers, almost all will always advise others to avoid it because most times they usually lost, while we say at such situation that it flew away.

I usually play this game though I have been advice often to stop but I just love it for fun while I still haven't really made anything remarkable from playing it  but I will still advise not to think highly of it even if they make something big since they can lost everything even in the next game and this is not about being greedy since the game can crash at even x0 and everyone who stake Will lose their money.

128  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: May 03, 2024, 09:40:11 PM
Luton really really needs a win here, like big time. They are not financially a strong team, and to be perfectly honest I have zero idea how they managed to be good enough to come here, but they are not a big populated area, so it won't be easy for them to come back to here at premier league, they need to stay as long as possible, in order to get enough money from everything, to be able to get better.

If they go down, then I am not sure how they could come back because even the first one was a shocker to begin with. They need the win, and stay, so that they could get a lot of money and be better next season, because with that kind of money rewarded if they stay, they may end up getting better defense and do better next season, or at least they could hope they would.
It is not quite a good thing that all day three clubs that can from championship are going to be relegated this season. I had expected one of them to at least stay back and currently the one that has the ability to stay back and the English Premier League is Luton. This is second half of the match and they are battling with Everton. They are currently sharing the points but if Luton could possibly get all the three points they will be temporary of the relegation zone pending the next match of Nothingham forest. At this crucial moment, it is very difficult to win matches. So, if Luton can't win tonight, they should atleast not lose.

Well at the moment they have as much as Nottingham, but the latter still have a game in hand, and moreover Luton are losing on goal difference, in case of equal points they will still be relegated. I think they have little chance of surviving in the EPL overall. But if they do, I think they will be clearly stronger next season. It's their first season in this division, they needed an adjustment anyway and if they hold on they will only be stronger next season
Actually base on their remaining fixtures
Luton: West Ham and Fulham
Nottm Forest: Sheffield United, Chelsea and Burnley

I think if Luton really want to avoid relegation then they have to fight pretty hard to defeat their remaining opponents though this will be hard but I think they may be able to do so base on how they fair in some matches this season while Nottm Forest may likely against Chelsea but the remaining may not be much issue for them but there are chances they may also drop points there

130  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: May 03, 2024, 05:12:25 PM
I believe in PSG. Bigly. We've seen them pull off miracles, like that comeback against Barcelona - fantastic game. But Dortmund is a tough opponent. We cant bank on another red card to turn things around. Now, playing at home, thats a HUGE match. And Enrique, the guy's a tactical genius. He'll have the plan. Thing is, those chances we create? We gotta start burying them. No more messing around. The heart, the skill, its all there. I know they can show us what they're made of.
Dortmund is good that is true but not like Barca and the goal difference to turn things around here is still fewer than that of barca game, actually what PSG need is for Luis Enrique to come up with a good tactics and Mbappe being able to play well, then we will be seeing psg in the final this season.
131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / ZKSNACKS IS DISCONTINUING ITS COINJOIN COORDINATION SERVICE 1ST OF JUNE on: May 03, 2024, 03:58:54 PM

Base on the info shared by Wasabi wallet on Twitter as from June 1st, Wasabi wallet will longer support coinjoin service.

Quote
Wasabi Wallet will continue to function as a regular bitcoin wallet, users can generate private keys to receive and send bitcoin. Even without coinjoins, Wasabi’s client-side filtering architecture, Tor integration and custom coin selection make it the most private light wallet available. However, the nature of the bitcoin blockchain prevents users from obtaining complete privacy without coinjoins.

This also affects users of other wallet clients that connect to the zkSNACKs coordinator, like Trezor Suite and BTCPayServer.

Wasabi Wallet is a free and open-source software and will continue to be maintained. Anyone can contribute, open new issues, submit pull requests, or even fork it. zkSNACKs will fund the continuous maintenance of Wasabi Wallet’s basic features.
https://blog.wasabiwallet.io/zksnacks-is-discontinuing-its-coinjoin-coordination-service-1st-of-june/

After what happened to Samourai wallet https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5494114.msg63988345#msg63988345, I guessed we all expected this to come also.

Actually its more better to go Hardware wallet which is still the best option for cold wallet and i will advice you to go for Trezor hardware wallet, this thread will be helpful in your choice of picking though 55 Hardware Wallets, compared feature by feature

I will start saying that we need more user friendly crypto wallets and a system linking it, simple as it sounds.
I don`t really know how i`m going to put this that it may not seems disrespectful
What are wallets like Bluewallet and Electrum for, is there any complication for using it as a total beginer in bitcoin.

Also what kind of feature do you think these wallets lacks to become an actual user friendly
I wonder if you ever use a bank app before
134  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: OKX has stopped its p2p service for Nigerian customers on: May 03, 2024, 10:01:51 AM
This is just becoming more annoying, they are going for the top exchanges, maybe soon Bybit will just do the same, I really will like to know the essence of all these.
Actually this changes was probably done today because I still remember doing p2p there yesterday. What annoy me most in all these is from the fact it is clear this is not the main problem in our naira devaluation.
E be like say the fight against crypto by our government no go stop anytime soon, so e better make everybody begin protect themselves and their funds, they might start blocking bank accounts at the slightest suspicion of any involvement in crypto transactions.
I think that news earlier this year about the unbanning of any crypto related transactions from CBN was just to lure others in order to do this because the way they are acting now is way off from those who support cryptocurrency adoption.
Thank God fee is currently pretty low, we can try using https://peachbitcoin.com/ or any other DEX from here https://kycnot.me/
135  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 02, 2024, 09:07:29 PM

Buy whenever you can and sell only when you absolutely must, regardless of the price.
Hmm, I have not thought about this but I guessed this is to prevent the regret of selling what seems high and then going to buy way more higher. Since once such a person sells, he/she will be waiting for the dip to buy more which may not come while the price continues to surge
136  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: May 02, 2024, 01:01:05 PM

Dortmund's win was good and they have the capital ahead of the second leg against PSG later. Even though they only won by a narrow margin, it meant a lot for Dortmund where they will next play an away match at PSG. I think Dortmund also knows that it will be very difficult to face PSG at home and maybe everything can change if the hosts play more intensely.

Last night PSG didn't play well and they couldn't steal the lead with the opportunities they had. Mbappe seemed under pressure and had no free space to move. I think Luis Enrique must learn from this first leg mistake and improve his existing strategy so he can turn things around at home later. PSG needs at least 2 goals but I think Dortmund will still increase their aggregate and will not play defensively at all.

Dortmund got a good win, which puts them in a good position for the second game against PSG.  Even though the lead isnt very big, goals scored away from home make a huge difference. But they know the job isnt done yet. Its a whole different game for PSG at home, and they'll be ready to go.

PSG did not play well last night, there is no way around it.  They missed some chances, and Mbappe was closely defended. He needs more help to make those crazy runs he's known for. Enrique needs to really look at the tape from this one. Dont make the same mistakes in the second leg. At least two goals need to be scored by PSG. There's no way Dortmund will sit back and protect, so both teams will score a lot of goals.

I think psg will still move to the final, this is similar to their quarter final match against Barcelona were they lost the first leg though that was at their home but I think the second leg this time won't be any different like we saw in the QR they are going to be the one qualifying, Enrique will probably learn from his mistakes and Mbappe will try to do alot better
137  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 02, 2024, 08:33:29 AM
As I said, predictable.

Soaring to new highs in the next year or so is just as predictable.
To be frank, I don`t want to bother about the dip because I see it distracting to me in accumulating more bitcoin, I was made to realised waiting for the dip dumb especially when i haven`t gotten anywhere in my bitcoin holdings, I will just buy now and anytime because I know one thing that is predictable in bitcoin is that, bitcoin will continue to raise with time

Over the last decade, this market has become all too predictable.

The whales now are gunning for sub 50K, and they will eventually crash it down below that.

Why sub 50K?

Because if you look at the chart, that's where they started seriously pumping the market with heavy leverage on 2/25.

They always short it back down to where they started. Dumping into their own (fake) buy walls.

It's all an effort to get weak hands to shit their pants and sell, and to knock stupid guppy day tarders out of their long positions.

Easy problem to solve tho, just HODL.

that would match the chart pattern of May-July 2016.  Back then, we shortly went under the 21 weekly EMA which would correspond to 47k this time.  Sure, we hadn't reached an ATH at that time, but we also hadn't had such a ridiculous inflation.

Will their plan works this time, lets be frank people are becoming more knowledgeable about the truth, many bitcoiners have now overcome FUD  especially after all the news we heard about bitcoin price in late 2022 which totally crap looking at the price movement since then till now. The truth is people can not just be a fool for ever .
138  Other / Off-topic / There are dangers from streaming matches from unofficial sites on: May 01, 2024, 10:41:33 PM
We know somehow subscription on official platforms to stream live matches can be expensive and many has opt to use other platforms offering really lower fee or entirely free subscription for Live matches.

In my country this is somehow common and one thing I have noticed about such sites is that they are filled with various ads, which is obviously were they get their money.

Now, Jenny Radcliffe, a professional hacker, has claimed the risks of illegally streaming are huge. Here is her statement

The perception that illegal streaming is a victimless crime is completely inaccurate

The sites that host these services are loaded with malicious links, back doors and tricks to access people’s digital and financial information, giving professional criminals an open invitation to steal from anyone who engages in these activities.

Whether it's multiple charges to credit cards, installing malware on devices, accessing bank accounts, or stealing personal information such as emails, messages, contacts, photographs, documents and browsing history, engaging in illegal streaming makes you a prime target for professional fraudsters.

And what is worse, because these activities are illegal, victims may have little or no recourse for recovering their losses and may even face criminal charges themselves.

Outside this fact another reason to avoid this is from the news about The Premier League has increased its efforts to prevent fans, whereby those caught offering such services with no copyright face charges and possibly jail terms https://www.sportbible.com/football/football-news/premier-league-iptv-illegal-streaming-godaddy-court-prosecution-561857-20240425

The match is very serious and both Dortmund and PSG are well prepared for this game... But it seems to me that today will be either a PSG win or a draw... I remember their group match in Dortmund last year... It was a draw then, but PSG played terribly... Now PSG is playing much better than it was at the beginning of the season... I hope that today will be no less interesting than yesterday...

Not sure if PSG should be favorites to win the first leg soon, but based on the line-up, I think they can be a little more reliable than Dortmund. PSG has a mission to score quick goals and lock up the game with ball possession and high pressure, but considering that Dortmund is playing at home, this match may be a bit more balanced.

Luis Enrique and his players have high enthusiasm to win the match after they managed to shock the Barcelona public with a fantastic victory. I admit that PSG's performance has improved with Luis Enrique, so there are good hopes about them this season, especially to qualify for the final.

PSG should be able to win in this first leg, although PSG playing away but because PSG is in a better situation compared to Dortmund then I think, there is no good reason for PSG to fail in this match. After all, based on the odds also atleast PSG is still quite favored to win, although not fully projected to win, but basically PSG really has a better chance in this first leg. But yes, if for example they still fail to beat Dortmund in this first leg, then PSG still has a chance to still qualify for the final match by playing better in the second leg later. But yes, anyway I pretty sure PSG will win in this first leg even though it might only be with a thin score.
Actually Psg should be able to win both home and away but to be frank this is only if they are really ready to play well especially Mbappe but either way I think they're going to make it to the final even if they lose today or at home in second leg just as we saw against Barca though it will be better if they lose today's game than to lose the second leg.
