121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum+Decred GPU Miner v4.3 (Windows/Linux) on: May 20, 2016, 02:16:32 AM

Thanks for the info, very helpful. So in your opinion, I should use ethminer doing solo on my Geth? Even though CMD give me a higher hash rate? With either I get 103mh on 1 rig, with CMD I get 120mh. With all my hw, using Ethminer its 460mh, with CMD its 550Mh. Considerable difference.

Thanks,

Like all mining I think it is going to be luck that rules on this one. You could possibly have found an eth block in that 14.4 minutes a day that CMD is mining the dev fee. Mining Shift with only 50-60mh I have found that the 36 seconds doesn't really affect me. I get more from CMD on average than I do etherminer.  If I had the hash-rate to mine Ethereum solo I might feel differently.

So I just tested using just Ethminer pointed to my Geth box in solo, looks like avg is 75Mh. This rig has 4 GPU's that usually run 102mh on a pool using ethminer and 120mh on a pool using CDM.

I get the luck factor in solo mining, but loosing that much hash compared to CDM has got to make a difference. Based on calculators I should be getting a block per day with my 550mh using CDM. But with this Ethminer avg below, total hash is only 342Mh.

Thoughts?

I would go with CMD.  Looking at the numbers I would have to believe that the significantly higher hash rate and processing more work would outweigh the off chance that you would have found a block in the time CMD is mining the dev fee. In the long run you might miss a block or two but should come out ahead due to the 60%+ increase in hashing power.

Same rig running CMD below. Maybe Claymore will offer a paid version of the miner? Geared toward solo miners that don't want to take the DevFee time away.

Claymore - Your miner works great on pools, a week with no issues or crashes. I am trying to setup solo mining. Have Geth running on a local LAN machine and tried to point miner from same machine as well as another LAN machine.

Used
EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool http://localhost:8545

Connects, looks like it starts mining and Geth console shows the connection. But not seeing any shares? only temps and new jobs. On pool, i'm seeing accepted shares almost instantly. Doing something wrong here?

Also, when I point another rig to my local Geth using LAN IP and same port, can't connect. Port is open, no FW running and its local LAN.

Shares are your contributions in pool mining, so no shares in solo mining, you mine the whole thing alone. Try launching geth with --rpc --rpcaddr 192.168.x.x --farm 192.168.x.x where 192.168.x.x is the lan address of the machine running geth. For me it does work like that. With 127.0.0.1 machines in the lan can't connect.

I am not getting the below error when CDM starts,

I didn't try solo mining. But I guess that with solo mode your "share" means to be a block solution. With such difficulty difference (compare yours and pool ones) and your hashrate you should mine few days, maybe a week on average, to find a block. I think so, but might be wrong.

I actually have 600mh of miners that I want to solo mine, but so far only the local box running Geth is connecting my GPU's and that's the 120mh you see here. Tried pointing my other rigs to this Geth box and getting failure to connect messages. I would think I should still see accepted shares as rarely are they blocks on a pool. I avg 450 accepted shares per hour on a pool like Nano, so I was expecting to see similar results solo mining.

The not connecting is most likely because you set rpc to 127.0.0.1 and then geth only accepts connections from the same machine. Use the local ip instead.

And by the way, I wouldn't use CDM to solo mine. When you solo mine, you don't want 36 or 72 seconds per hour not mining for yourself because in this time it can be when you're gonna hit a block. If you are pool mining then it is ok because shares you will be hitting a lot anyway. I'll give you an example: a few months ago when I was still solo mining, I was gonna stop one of my rigs and in the time between hitting CTRL and C this rig found one block.

Thanks,

Also, when I point another rig to my local Geth using LAN IP and same port, can't connect. Port is open, no FW running and its local LAN.

LOL... not sure we'd really want that to happen.  Chinese pools represent the vast majority of the network hash.  If the GFW was to go down, they'd be working on one chain while the rest of the world worked on another.  As soon as the GFW came back up, chances are exceedingly good they'd have the longer chain, thus rendering the rest of the world's chain worthless.

Now, if all of those pools, and the hash associated with them, suddenly went dark that'd be a completely different story.

Good luck everyone!  Let's nail a couple blocks Smiley

Then we would have ChinaBTC and ClassicBTC. haha

If the NSA could infect the Iranian nuke program computers, why not Chinese miners......Only the ones behind china IP's otherwise we would all be down.LOL

yeah I will rent a bit .

WTF, F2 party today? Ant people move to F2 all of a sudden?

I rented 500 on each site for 4 hours.

How come the GFW never goes down and cuts off china from the internet? That would be nice.....

Any reason why my app is continuously showing a (1), as a push-message is waiting...

Opened, read it (one miner trending down), reset miner (hashing ok now), even uninstalled ad reinstalled the app.

Still showing (1)...  Huh

You are talking about either the iOS app or the Android app. This thread is not for either of those.
The iOS thread is here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1344360.0
I don't think there is one for Android, but that is by: TheOneJester https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=503053  He has not been active for several months.

Could someone kindly explain the Avg5Nd (TH/s) on the dashboard in simple terms?
Does it mean you won't get paid as much until your number is higher?

I just started using this pool yesterday and my Avg5Nd (TH/s) is 2.83.

Thanks!!

Also, should I wait until I have a higher Avg5Nd (TH/s) number to rent some hash or does it matter?
Thanks again!

Yes, when your Avg5Nd is about equal to your overall hashrate you should be receiving full payout.
When to rent is irrelevant to your current Avg5Nd.

Those should be fixed now. Yes it was an API call error.

Excellent, just checked and all good. Ran a report for the 4/1 to 4/20 to see how the pool is doing and notices each day is getting a zero at the top, then showing the rest of the days blocks. I think this happen once before when I ran reports and you had fixed something.

Example
Date   Block   Avg Hash   BTC   USD/BTC   USD
2016-04-01   0   0   0.00000000   0   0
2016-04-01   405191   109.34   0.08501729   418.71   35.6

Have you had a chance to look at the reports? Each day is still showing a zero at the top and I think the skews the overall report. I ran April and PPS looks way over what it actually was.

4/1 to 4/30
Average BTC/Day/THs = 0.00389706
% PPS = 158.75%

I am running about 600MH, thinking about just solo mining, I am mining on Nano now but on Solo I should get a block a day, maybe a little more. Whats a good way to run true solo using your miner? Sorry if already posted, lots of pages to review and did not see any solo setup guides.

BTW- Working great! getting 61 per card using 295x2 on Win10 with latest drivers. No crashes, temp is good and running 6% OC

Thanks,

Block by dsppage with 124THs!  That would be his 5th Kano Block!  Cheesy

To add to that, same S7 as the block on Saturday it found. 3 blocks in 3 days with 120th. Unbelievable

893B share also!

congrats dsppage.... this SS7H is a winner..... you should put it to work at solo.ckpool.org  - maybe 25 real coins for you if 3rd time lucky!

Well it would have to be 4th time lucky, it found a block on 12/31, so thats 3 for this miner. Can it find a 4th?

So got into Eth about a month ago, been mining BTC for almost 2 years. So far all good, really like your miner, prior I used basic Ethminer with get work. I am running a total of 10 cards in 5 rigs All R9 295x2 running EVGA G2 1300 PSU's. Love the quiet cooling and reliability so far. On Ethminer, with a 6% OC I was getting 51Mh per card and now with same 6% OC I am getting 60-61 MH. Using the latest drivers 16.5.2, no issues and stable on Win10. Nice part about using latest drivers is I can run Steam and game on the rigs when not mining, its not often but most games require the latest drivers so using the older drivers on rigs that are dual purpose is a bitch.

Anyway, my first post on Eth, thanks for all the info on the forum and great job on the miner.

PS. with my 600MH, thinking about just solo mining, I am using Nano now but on Solo I should get a block a day, maybe a little more. Whats a good way to run true solo using your miner? Sorry if already posted, lots of pages to review.

Block by dsppage with 118THs!  That would be his 4th Kano Block and our 5th of the day!  Cheesy

Back to back blocks for dsppage! Awesome!

Pretty crazy with back to back with about 120th in hw! To bad they are not low CDF blocks!

You and me both... I'm paying 30... dumped 6 coins into the meter... 4 on WH, 2 on NH.

Edit: EU side is done... About an hour left on US side.

Crazy, right. A fat rental like that and still only 1% of network. Hence 1% chance of every block found in a few hours.

Once yours are done, I have a 3 coin in for unlimited at 28, maybe they kick in or I'll raise as needed. But certainly hope you hit before mine kick in, better yet you hit, finish rental and then mine hit Grin

Updated to a 5 coin push unlimited at 28, with last nights 5 coin drop, better crack tonight. Can't go any deeper then 10 coin on this round. May the block force be with us......

Dear users,

Bitcoin network hashrate has increased significantly in the past months, pushing up the difficulty and lowering BTC/TH/Day prices for SHA256 hashing power purchase. In order to make bidding for SHA256 hashing power more accurate and competitive, we'll be switching from TH to PH units for SHA256 hashing power purchases.

This change has no affect if you are a seller (provider/miner) of hashing power. If you're a buyer you'll have to take this change into account while placing new SHA256 orders. For example, instead of current price 0.0029 (in units BTC/TH/Day) you'll have to enter 2.9000 (new unit will be BTC/PH/Day).

The switch to the new units will take place on June 1st 2016 at 00:00 UTC.

Existing orders, which will be placed and not completed before the switch will be automatically converted to the new units - no action will be required from you. However if you have some automated applications/scripts, utilizing automatic placement of new orders, you'll have to change them accordingly to make them compatible with the new units.

Giving things a little motivational kick in the ass... Tongue

That's a serious 11PH kick in the ass!!  Shocked  Hope it pays off!

Great push! I had to pay 31 to get that much last night. Preying it's not one of those 400% recent blocks Kano has had.
