not all miners have this screen. some people putty in but I like this better.

123  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer S3 support and OverClocking thread on: March 19, 2016, 08:22:19 PM
Those increments are only a fraction of a volt. I don't think they would show up on a meter. I'm no electrician but wouldn't a power supply already draw what is required + a bit more, so a fraction of a volt on a mining board wouldn't really move the power consumption. just perhaps less heat from one of the components on the power supply that are already wasting power by burning off as heat.

Halving will be the "end" for many minermen...
The strongest ones will overlive.
Who will spend cash for losing cash?
After the halving ...people will keep up...and the "give-uper" will then give oxygen to the survivors...
Mining hardware will be traded for low prices...

thats a bad prediction. you are looking at from very narrow perspective.

if the reward splits for miners there could also be a 100% increase in price. meaning that nothing has changed.

ive been solomining on this pool for a while, why does DGC for example has so many orphaned blocks when on the blockchain the block does not show up as orphaned ??

Because it's someone else's block that made it into the chain.

what do you mean?multiple persons find the same block at the same time or how does that work?

pretty much, they find it within such a short time of each other that the network doesn't have time to update. after its corrected and the late miner becomes the orphan and gets nothing.

This Paypal policy really sucks. I have money on Paypal, no interest on scamming anybody, and can't use it or convert to Bitcoin because nobody trusts Paypal payments. And on the other side, everybody wants to pay using Paypal so I have to accept it.  Sad

Best thing to do is dump paypal period. You have to understand that eventually everybody is burned by paypal, often for no good reason.

Hello,
I just got 3 used S3+ and they are coming in pretty low.
I puttied into one and set it to the 250 setting, and it's pulling around 430

What's the best setting for these?

I'm using them for heat in the basement. so Efficiency is not my top concern.

Thanks.

Which firmware is it ?   Make sure you have the correct voltage as well.  You have to find the sweet spot and do not try go go over 460-470 with 2 cables. It will get too hot and possibly melt.

I have a couple that run great at 231 - 237 .. 0750v . you have to reboot when changing voltage

wow people still think that changing the voltage on the s3 does anything?

it has been tested, and tested and tested again and changing the voltage does NOTHING to the chips.

It definitely does on mine. At 0500 I can barely get 15 out of 16 chips to show. At 0600-700 I'm stable everything works, at 0750-0800 overclocks and hot , 0850+ fire..

why would bitmain code a whole screen and settings only to have it serve no function or not be implemented. you need a certain fw and a perhaps a certain board rev but I can definitely confirm the voltage moves.

Bump

There is a parted out S3 as well. Hashing board available
130  Economy / Computer hardware / FS: Antminer S3 hashing board on: March 17, 2016, 02:41:15 PM
Perfectly working

From a parted out S3

I can only ship this within Canada due to the size and weight of the heatsinks.

You can pick up in Toronto for $20 cash or if it needs shipping expect around $15+

I can also remove the heatsinks if buy wants to reduce weight. In that case about $10 shipping.

Please make sure you actually have a defective hashing board, I have seen some of these where it was the controller that was faulty.
131  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: FS: Antminer S3 - Canada on: March 16, 2016, 07:05:37 AM
ya they're great for the buck. probably the best deal out there even when they were new. I want to pass them along to a small time miner or newb but they're a tough sell without a power supply.

135  Economy / Collectibles / Re: SILVER COINS in Canada on: March 12, 2016, 04:16:22 PM
That is exactly it from the ebay link. The 1976 montreal olympics set. Except this isn't a variation or a re issue, this is the original purchased in 197x .

The liberty is nothing special.  I give it a value of $8 USD on the bottom end.

It looks like this turned out to be a BS thread about paypal and chargebacks. but staying on topic did anyone actually move forward with yesminers in terms of legal action or recovery ?
