121  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Don't forget: There will probably be further batches from Avalon on: March 24, 2013, 10:42:21 PM
all that is probably true, but by the time batch #4 will be out, difficulty will be sky high. People want avalons NOW to make all that uber mega fancy profit, get rich, retire early and drive bugatti  Grin

is it possible to replace that little host board with Raspberry Pi?
This should be fairly easy - just compile avalon specific cgminer and write autorun & monitoring scripts.
Also i know that you need to remove jumper on avalon controller, as it gives power to TPLINK over usb.
I was thinking about that before receiving the unit, but now i think i'll just keep raspi for my experiments
rather than leaving it mining and loose this valuable & fun instrument from everyday use. (i have only one)
Well, my principle if it works, do not touch it. I would put raspberry pi only if original host board died
123  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [AVALON] - I got my ASIC Thread (Batch #1) on: March 23, 2013, 06:45:57 AM
Anyone is thinking about getting A/C like this for the summer?
http://www.tripplite.com/en/products/model.cfm?txtModelID=4462  and just point the hose towards avalons?
124  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Avalon Technical Support Thread on: March 23, 2013, 05:44:21 AM
ok, so all this got me wondering. Avalon says that their WR703N  has custom modifications. So it it dies, is it possible to replace that little host board with Raspberry Pi? Since it is possible to run it on some linux PC
125  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon DHL question Batch #1 #2 on: March 22, 2013, 05:37:17 AM
Hey! I'm in Brazil but my Avalon is going to U.S....

I put my Brazilian phone number at the Avalon shop and my friend's U.S. address...

Maybe am I going to face problems?

Tks!
Thiago

Yes, your friend is going to be mining with your equipment! Shipping services usually only call if they are delivering something big, I don't think DHL has ever called me before...

LoL good luck selling US minted BTC! Brazilian ones are always better quality Tongue
No shit! They better be at 52c/kWh Grin
126  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Avalon Technical Support Thread on: March 22, 2013, 05:33:31 AM
is it possible to connect avalon directly to a computer via USB and mine that way? In case that little board/host thingy dies
127  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The latest Avalon announcement in China(Translated). Batch #3, price and more. on: March 21, 2013, 07:31:29 AM
OMG! So much drama here Grin
Those who depressed about batch 3 prices, feel free to bid on batch#2 here
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Avalon-ASIC-Bitcoin-Miner-65-Gh-s-speed-guaranteed-PRE-ORDER-/140938300499 (STILL CHEAP!)
or here
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Avalon-ASIC-Bitcoin-mining-Rig-pre-order-/190814179747  Look! Batch#2 preorder for the price of batch#3!
or here
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Avalon-ASIC-Bitcoin-BTC-Mining-Computer-Rig-Miner-Unit-Pre-Order-/140937986794
Oh yeah, especially for BFL fans/customers
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-x-60-GH-s-Bitcoin-Miner-BitForce-Single-SC-ASIC-Butterfly-Labs-Avalon-/230949834281 (not sure why it says avalon still. That is an insult!)
So I'm expecting BFL raise their prices too sometime. People will buy these things anyway
and of course, those who believe that avalons won't sell at $5-7K should look at this famous link again
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Avalon-ASIC-Bitcoin-BTC-Mining-Computer-Rig-Miner-Unit-Pre-Order-/181105056846
yes, this might be a fake, maybe shadow bidding and such. But the thing is, you have to pay fees on ebay, a certain % from your final sale. So, if this is a fake sale, that seller still has to pay ebay fee.
Now, let's say I have batch#1 avalon. And I'm thinking about selling it. (Too loud, too hot in the room, wife won't let me keep it, kids etc. It is hypothetical, I have no wife, no kids and no avalon) But let's pretend I do have one avalon. How much does it worth to you? You could have it right now (10 days the latest depending on shipping for example) how much would you be willing to pay for shit unit? $10,000? $20,000? And why?
128  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: I am planning to buy Avalon batch 3..is batch 3 invitations only? on: March 20, 2013, 06:08:54 AM
yeah, they should do invitations. if you have ordered asic from batch #1 or #2 you can invite someone. Amount of invitations is proportioned to amount asics you've bought. So, you can either invite yourself or someone else. Those invitations would be sold nicely, huh? Grin
129  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PRIMEASIC miner - donations for purchase (read all) on: March 19, 2013, 10:29:42 PM
ok, hold on. Let's assume for a moment, this fancy asic isn't a scam. Now, my question is WHY should we donate money to this guy? I can understand (and I frequently do) donations to homeless, or sick kids, or animal shelters, or wild life...Some of them now accept bitcoins as donations. But heck, why should we donate here? Is this guy handicapped? This wasn't proposed as "oh, could you be my investor". This was asking for donation so this guy could get rich! or so he thinks...  Bitcoins don't grow on trees, you know Grin
130  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 15K USD FOR AN AVALON?! on: March 19, 2013, 10:00:13 PM
No, ebay hates shadow bidding. In this case I think shadow bidding would be useless to the seller, because if items "sells" to themselves, well, they still will have to pay auction fees
131  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Top 10 reasons why BFL will postpone their April 2013 shipping date on: March 19, 2013, 09:53:52 PM
I have a single on order which is why I'm watching. But I'm doing a trade in from my FPGA single and used a CC for the other half. Right now my best path is just to hope something comes out soon. I have no idea how I would feel if I bought a minirig with Bitcoin. That is a totally different story.
I can totally understand your feelings. As BFL customer this might turn into some potential profit loss... That would be depressing.
Praise Josh for his incompetence....wait...Josh didn't make the ASICs. Nasser did....or was it Chronicle Techs incompetence....Perhaps it was the Fab at fault...no...perhaps it was the bumpers....no wait....the packagers....or was it the broken tester?

I am confused...who should I praise for this <cough>miracle<cough>?

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=clusterfuck
You are not BFL customer, are you? If you bought Avalon, well, then I don't get your personal hate towards BFL and Josh. if you bought mini rig and don't have it yet
I am, in fact, impressed with BFL. It is a miracle they were able to get this far, given the obvious lack of competence at all levels, and a known scammer among them. Just look at what happened to another American ASIC project, bASIC.
It is not fair comparing these people with the kids from China (two teams to actually deliver ASICs thus far) - well educated, humble, and hard working.
, then I can totally see it.
I must admit BFL  exterior design look more pleasing to an eye. I'm not saying they are bad, nor saying they are good. I'm just saying that avalon customers have no reason to bash them, instead they should be grateful for the delay, because difficulty is less, they get more coins with avalons. That is all
132  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Got offered an Avalon, how much to pay? on: March 19, 2013, 09:21:26 PM
well... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=154989.0  Grin
133  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Anyone wants to sell me one Avalon ASIC miner? on: March 19, 2013, 09:20:02 PM
you sure can bid on this one  Grin http://www.ebay.com/itm/181105056846
134  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 15K USD FOR AN AVALON?! on: March 19, 2013, 09:18:21 PM
yep, still hides bidders if signed in. I don't know if these are real bids, or fake by seller, but if they are real... Avalon is mega money making machine even if you don't have it Grin
135  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 15K USD FOR AN AVALON?! on: March 19, 2013, 07:20:33 PM
well, possibly seller themselves placed bids on that thing to get price high. But I really doubt it, because they'll have to pay HUGE fee on ebay. and if it "sells" when in fact it didn't they will lose money...
If these are real, actual bids, this looks like gold rush or something
136  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Top 10 reasons why BFL will postpone their April 2013 shipping date on: March 19, 2013, 06:57:38 PM
so... Why so much hate towards BFL from those who bought Avalon? I mean seriously. You should be happy and grateful for BFL not delivering in time. The longer they don't deliver, the more money for you. Instead of mocking BFL you should praise it. Just think if they didn't delay so much, you'd be getting waaaaay less today. Only people who should be depressed about BFL are those who bought their rigs. But they seem don't mind it, or they won't show it. No one wants to demonstrated they made a bad judgement. It is like horse race, you make your bet which horse will deliver first asic... Those who couldn't deside and bought both Avalon and BFL should also be happy. So come on, guys/gals, no need to rub it in to poor (and in some cases I mean it literally) BFL customers. Grin
137  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 10% hike in bitcoin difficulty is coming soon...BFL customers how do u feel? on: March 18, 2013, 05:31:47 PM
I predict at the end of April we will be at 7.5 million difficulty...easy.
You know what? you might be right (or slightly off towards 7.8-8 million)
What do you think the price will be for bitcoin?
138  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Asics are scam nothing will arrive and it will be the end of bitecoin on: March 17, 2013, 08:46:50 AM
Asics are scam nothing will arrive and it will be the end of bitecoin I'm saying the truth. Period.
139  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: eBay Avalon scam. AGAIN !!! on: March 16, 2013, 09:59:11 PM

PAYMENT Only PayPal is accepted. No cash, no BitCoin.
So... Maybe this is real unit?
