Anyone is welcome to submit torrents to the site. There are a few limitations but here is how you would go about adding new media.

#1: Find a torrent/file you want to submit.

This can be from newsnet groups, private or public torrent trackers. For you to submit it, it first has to exist though.

#2: Make sure the file is a mp4 encoded with h264 video and aac audio.

This is to ensure compatibility with all browsers and to make sure no plugins are needed. FFMpeg is a great tool for transcoding files if its not already in the proper format (there are tens of thousands of torrents already out there in the proper format)

#3: Make sure the file is seeded using a webrtc compatible torrent client.

Vuse and WebTorrent are the two compatible clients I'm aware of so far. Advertising WebTorrent will be a big part of the site to ensure the maximum number of people are using compatible clients to feed data to the website. You can download their client at https://webtorrent.io/desktop/ - our project is built on the same open source technology and we are contributing many of our changes to their underlying code to ensure maximum compatibility.

#4: Submit the magnet link to our site.

You can immediately share the link to others but a moderator will have to ensure that the file is valid, properly labeled and properly seeded before adding it to the public search results.


There is a global bounty in effect until the 1.0 launch of the site which will split the 1kk VIDZ bounty among all files submitted to the site between now and then. You or anyone else here is welcome (and encouraged) to help populate the site using the instructions above. Primarily the content will be coming from existing torrenting groups as they are familiar with the process and already have a backlog of thousands and thousands of movies/shows.


The films you mentioned are not yet released so it's highly unlikely anyone will be able to submit them until the bluerays are released. Submitting cams is fine but they are low quality and personally I find them unwatchable.

Yes, VPN referrals and advertisements are a big part of our sites monetization model while it gets started. Depending on the country our users live in, VPNs could range from a convenience to a necessity so informing them of how to protect themselves while also generating revenue is a perfect fit for our site.

In our whitepaper we've listed a number of other avenues for monetization we will be using as the site grows.


There are 3 types of bounties.

Global bounties are per item or time based and reward any valid content submitted to the website. There is currently a 1,000,000 VIDZ global bounty running. Those coins will be distributed to everyone who submits valid content to the website between now and the full 1.0 launch of the site following the ICO. These coins are split among contributors based on the items they submit. Global bounties happen every time the dev fund refills to a certain level.

User bounties are when a user really wants a new episode of a tv show or movie and puts a fixed amount of coins into a bounty for that particular item. These bounties are combined together and there will be a list on the website showing what is in high demand and the payout each. For example if 10 people each place a 100 vidz bounty on the new marvel movie then it has a total bounty of 1,000 tokens. 80% goes to the uploader, 10% goes to dev fund and 10% goes to the moderator who reviews the submission before approving it.

VIP bounties are the same as user bounties except that there is no fixed value and rather the payout is calculated by the system. When you buy a premium membership, a portion of the tokens used to buy it are burned, a portion are put into the dev fund and a portion are put towards your vote 'weight'. When you request items you are simply saying "I would like to watch this" and it adds it to your tracked items. When it becomes available you are alerted so that you can always keep up to date with your requests. Your hidden vote weight is then distributed among all content that you've requested that month.

There risks are no greater than watching youtube videos as we have no way to read/write files to your harddrive or execute code on your computer. The site uses pure javascript to load these torrents and html5 to display their contents. The only file type permitted on the site is mp4 files encoded with h264 video and aac audio. You are not installing any extra software, plugins or granting permissions that any other site would have by default when you visited it.

Obviously we don't want to rush things out though and we will continue to update investors through this thread, our website and our social media pages to offer insight into what the status of development is.


As mentioned earlier in the thread, the next beta should be ready before this weekend which will add advanced search functions, support for TV shows and suggested videos by genre.

Content on the site is populated by its users. There are already a number of people submitting movies to the site but as our new demos roll out, the site improves and more attention is brought to the project you will see the amount of content the site displays to grow exponentially as more people begin to submit more and more media. As listed in the development timeline, we will be creating an API for people to use to create their own tools for the site. This will dramatically increase the amount of content available for a few reasons. The primary benefit is those who are submitting large amounts of content can automate the process and submit hundreds or thousands of files within seconds. The secondary benefit is that 3rd party tools can be developed to scrape and submit data automatically to the site. This will be very useful when filling in backlogs of old movies or shows that might not have bounties associated with them but which users would still enjoy having available.

Realistically I would expect hundreds of movies/shows available before the ICO ends with the number growing to thousands in the first month or so after the site launches to the public. Following the API release that number will quickly grow to the tens of thousands. A large portion of that growth will depend on the success of our advertisement campaigns (twitter/forum campaigns, global contribution bounties, reaching out to existing torrenting communities, reaching out to crypto communities and more)

When using any form of file sharing, using a VPN is strongly recommended. That being said, this site uses webRTC which will look different to most ISPs. This should result in no traffic shaping for users and makes it unlikely that you will need to worry about receiving such messages. Given you live in a country where such messages are sent out, I would still strongly recommend using a VPN just to be safe. In the 1.0 site we will offer a full 'user privacy' section detailing our data retention policies, what is logged and best practices to protect your anonymity which will include things such as recommended VPNs (referrals) to help educate users on the best way to stay safe depending on their country.


That is correct. Advanced search, improved content browsing and television support should be ready for public testing before the weekend. My best estimate would be Friday but we will do everything we can to launch it earlier.

For now we are assigning moderator status to those who are active in other torrenting communities (as they are the ones submitting content and know what to look for). In the full release of the site moderators will be chosen from among all members of the site who are active consistently and have a solid track record of properly tagging or reporting content on the site.

Moderator status will be quite easy to obtain by being active in the site but will be very easy to lose through false reports or incorrectly tagged content.


As more site features are unlocked such as reporting videos or adding user tags, correctly tagging your submitted content or creating public playlists for people to browser through, your account will gain a 'trust' rating which unlocks moderator features.

The next major update to the site is expected before next weekend. Our goal is during the ICO to launch a significant update to the site every 7-10 days to show our progress and to make sure that we are ready to launch the full 1.0 version of the site as close to the ICO end as possible.

The next beta focuses on the following 3 improvements

-Advanced Search: Filter by media type (movie, tv, other), genre, tags, actors, date.
-Improved video categories: Browse by genre, rating or more to discover new favorites.
-Television support: Submit Series, Season or Episode to the site with proper functionality to skip between episodes.



We are doing research and internal tests regarding live streamed torrents but it will not be part of the scope of this initial project. Following the full release based on user interest and the results of our experiments we will announce more on livestream capabilities.

It is definitely doable with this technology but it is not particularly well suited to it. We're looking at ways in which those issues can be overcome and determining if it's something worth exploring in the long term.

We're unable to say at this point. Once we are closer to it being available we will be able to give a reasonable prediction.

The global bounty is running throughout beta and following the full launch of the site after ICO the coins from that bounty will be split among everyone who submitted content to the site.

Torrents are available the second you submit them (they will show in your account profile and you can send the link to your friends or use it yourself) but it will not show in search results or on the homepage until a moderator confirms that the release is working and properly labeled. This process will become quicker as more and more moderators are added to the site. During the beta period we're attempting to attract as many existing torrent communities to submit their own content to the site. These users will be given moderator accounts with the understanding that they will not abuse the privilege. Given there are no bounties paid out until the end of beta there's no real risk to doing this and it allows us to give them a trial period as moderators to include them in the full launch of the site. So far two such moderators have been added.



We will have a specific value associated with each type of release. If there is a large bounty on a movie still in theater and someone submits a screener or some other recording of it, they can still have that approved but a moderator would simply flag the submission as 'low quality' which will result in the bounty being much lower. The remaining bounty is 'reserved' for when a proper high quality release is submitted and paid out to them instead.

Basically anything that is not a 720p or higher submission will result in only a partial bounty being received and the remaining bounty funds will be reserved for someone submitting a proper quality copy which will then replace the original in search results/suggested content.


If you have VIDZ and want to place a bounty you will type the name of the item, select the specific result from a list (to distinguish between all the remakes and crap that are released these days) and then place an amount you wish to place. People looking to submit content can see a list of all bounties currently placed, ordered by upvotes and total amount.

When they submit content that matches one of those bounties and a moderator confirms the upload is real then the bounty will be paid out. The majority goes to the person submitting the content with a smaller percentage going to the moderator who reviewed the application and the remainder being added to the dev fund to sponsor site wide global bounties or advertising campaigns.

How will the site gain users?

During the beta period we are focused on the technical aspects of the site. For the final release we will be focusing on making the site quick, clean, good looking and filled with content. Our main methods of advertising involves viral marketing campaigns and word of mouth. Some key examples of places where we will advertise.

-Torrent and crypto communities letting them know about the service and letting them know why they should participate.
-Bounties to torrenting groups including our site in their release notes (IE: when you click the torrent on other sites it will say "Watch it instantly at purevidz.net")
-Facebook groups for shows/movies letting them know they can watch for free with no downloads on our site.
-Youtube trailers or interviews letting people know they can watch the movie/show for free with no downloads on our site.
-Twitter/facebook/signature campaigns getting users to advertise our service through their social media network to claim VIDZ.
-Real world campaigns where we give users templates for flyers to print out. Take a picture of you posting it at your local campus or community center to claim VIDZ.
-Contacting crypto and traditional media to release press releases regarding the site and how it differs from other torrent/streaming sites.

There's other methods involved but basically it boils down to making sure as many people as possible know about the service and leveraging any initial community we have to grow it exponentially. We are also looking into various special events which could be hosted on the website to drive as much global hype as possible. We have experimented with live streaming via web torrents. If we find someone willing to contribute we could possibly set up a page to live stream a major sports event through the site for example. Gimmicks like that would be a great way to draw attention to the site and its advantages.

How will the site gain contributors?

We are already in the process of contacting some torrenting groups to convince them that they should also submit their releases to our site. With torrents generally a group will submit their content to a dozen or more sites to make sure that it is as distributed as possible and will be quick for users wishing to access it. By having them submit to our site we can feed off that existing network while rewarding the uploaders through bounties (both global bounties and specific user placed bounties).


Because of the bounty system, there is no drawback to any existing torrenting group submitting content to our site. They are already doing it for many other sites, adding us to their list simply has the benefit of them earning some money on popular content for their efforts.

We are experimenting with scraping data from other torrent sites to automate the process of adding compatible releases to our site. This technology will improve in the future versions of our site. We prefer the site be as user driven as possible but this will be useful following the 1.0 release to catalog old content that no one might think to submit to the site.

We have finished scraping a few links from public torrent sites to start off the second demo with. Please report any issues and feel free to start submitting new content to the site.


Steps to submit new content

-Register an account at www.PureVidz.net
-Click 'Manage' in the top right near the search bar to submit or review
-Click 'Upload Torrent'
-Enter the magnet link and title of what is being submitted and then click 'search'
-Based on the title you will see what we think you are submitting. Select the correct item and then click 'Confirm'
-You will now see a preview of the data we've scrapped for that item (poster, title, tags, description). Assuming they are correct, click 'Submit Torrent Movie'


This will return you to the previous page where you can view all content you have submitted to the site as well as its status. Until your submission is verified it will show as [Pending]. While pending you can still click the play button to check the video and make sure it is working and you can share this link with your friends immediately. Approval simply means that it will be included in the homepage, search results and the recommended videos feed.

Global Bounty

During the beta period there is a 1,000,000 VIDZ global bounty placed on all approved content submitted to the site. Each video is worth 10 points, each episode of a television show is worth 1 point. The total bounty will be distributed based on the amount of points you have earned during the beta period.

This means that if 10,000 points worth of content (1,000 movies for example) are submitted tot he site and you submitted one, you will receive 1,000 VIDZ for your contribution (1/1,000 of the total bounty is yours). The purpose of this global bounty is to help us bring in members of existing torrent communities and to jump start the website with fresh exciting content to test our systems with.


Demo 3

You will notice that while demo 2 is a significant step forward, it is not complete. Demo 3 will be launched next weekend and will include many extensions of the current functionality. The reason that they are not included in demo 2 is because for them to be properly tested, there needs to be a significant amount of content already on the site. This week will give time for those we've contacted in torrenting communities to start submitting data which we can use to test the improved site.

Demo 3 includes the following features/improvements.

-Advanced Search: Search by actor, filter by genres/tags/ratings, specify movie/tv.
-Submit and browse Television: Allow users to submit an entire season or series as one torrent rather than having to submit one for each episode. Single episode releases will also be supported.
-Related content: When watching a film, it will suggest up to 5 other movies with similar tags to help you discover new content.
-Homepage listing movies by tags: action/drama/scifi/etc.

The beta 2 allows users to submit content to the site and enables the bare bones of our submission, review and searching options.

There will be a significant update to beta 2 in the next week once content is submitted enabling suggested items, advanced search and television.


We are still making minor changes but the second demo is online now and we've already reached out to a couple of torrent groups to get them to submit some content so we can get down to testing. In a few hours once we finish the rest of our testing and a few items have been submitted and confirmed working then we will update the OP and make a full announcement covering the new features of beta 2.

Until the ico ends users will not have their own VIDZ with which to place manual bounties. During the entire beta period of the site (from this weekend until the full 1.0 launch) there is a global bounty set from our dev fund of 1KK VIDZ. Everything submitted and approved during that time entitles you to a portion of those coins.

For example lets say there are 10,000 items are submitted during that time and you submitted 10 of them, you are entitled to 1000 of the global bounty (1/1000 of the 1KK coins).



The onion domain is simply a backup for those who cannot access the main one for whatever reason or need to use torbrowser due to the situation in their country. Obviously torbrowser is not going to be quick enough to reliably stream with so users would only be using that route to access magnet links and the search engine on our site. Consider it a stripped down 'text only' version of the website for them to access.


During launch the website will be semi-decentralized. This means that the database and web host will be spread across multiple servers in multiple countries and we will be randomly routing users between them using the purevidz.net portal page. We've discussed at length both in the OP and throughout the thread our legal status and our plans moving forward in regards to redundancy. Here is the major points that have been discussed so far.

-Our service and our business model is not illegal in our region.
-The server does not host any copyright materials of any kind making any legal action difficult at best
-Our servers/backup hosts will be spread across numerous countries where American copyright law does not apply making them very difficult to interfere with
-The entire website can be made decentralized through the same technology the streams are using: Latest version of site can be live torrented to populate the website content, magnet link to access that torrent pulled from blockchain.


The reason the 'centralized' server exists to start with is because it makes the load time for the site much lower. The back end content of the site will be automatically backed up using decentralized methods. Regardless of any attempts to interfere with the main site, domains being seized or servers being confiscated the site will continue to run with little to no downtime.



Live streaming is not part of our site design. It is a theoretical possibility but is not something that we plan for our service to cover unless the technology improves significantly.

1. We will be looking to bring in as many members of existing torrent communities to submit their content to our site. By having the seeds and leachers spread not only among all the users of our site but also across dozens of other torrent websites it drastically increases the global availability of files.

In the case of a torrents seed ratio dropping to an unreliable level there will be a few steps to resolve it. First, users may report video playback issues with any item on the site. If a high enough percentage of those who access the file report an issue it will trigger an automated review of the torrent to check the health of the torrent. Torrents below a certain health will be included in an 'endangered' RSS feed which can be used to automatically trigger seeding fo the file by anyone willing to donate bandwidth/storage space to the project. As part of our public API phase of development we will be releasing easily configurable software which will automate this process for anyone who wishes to help the stability of the project in the long term.

If a file becomes unavailable for long periods of time it will be removed from recommendations and flagged as inactive. These results can still be found in our database with specific searches but will open up the file for a new copy to be submitted. If bounties are placed this means that re-submitting the torrent can result in a new payout but due to the review process, it is not possible to submit and then immediately stop seeding a file. During the review process the torrent health is checked and must meet a certain threshold to be approved.

2. There will not be any early/late investors bonuses. We feel that all investments should be handled on equal ground and so no special bonuses will be offered. We will be offering a number of bounty campaigns including a global bounty for all materials submitted to the site during the beta period but that is unrelated to how the ICO coins are distributed.



Live streams are not part of our initial goals but are something the technology technically does allow for. Depending on the success of the site we will definitely be launching experimental p2p livestreaming services. I've done some internal tests and our technology doesn't do it quite smoothly enough for us to justify including it in the first versions of the site.

From a user standpoint, live encoding and submission of a ongoing show/event is much more complicated and is not a level of technical knowledge we expect of our users.

We only receive funding as we reach milestones. In the highly unlikely event that every member of our dev team became died all at the same time that would leave the remaining funds in control of the 2 escrows and it would be up to them how to proceed.

The chance of every member of our team having a tragic accident at the same time without passing leadership to anyone else to complete funding goals is not statistically significant.

The second demo will be made available to all users this weekend. The less issues we encounter in our internal tests the earlier in the weekend that release will be.

The two projects have entirely different goals. It would be like explaining why building a house doesn't have the same issues as building a car. Both can be complex projects with fantastic results but they are not particularly related to eachother.


We are building upon our work with WebTorrent to update how the world interacts with torrents and remove the need for shady streaming sites which are so reliant on file mirrors (which fail regularly). Our goals consist of open access to torrents without needing any applications or addons installed and without having to worry about if the file you're about to access is safe or broken or incorrectly labeled.


Their project involves a wallet with built in torrent tracker functionality, chatrooms and what amounts to mining consisting of seeding resources. My initial impression is that they are trying to create a crypto based program similar to kazaa or limewire (they specifically state those two applications in their OP). Users wanting or not wanting that to be a reality is up to the masses, not us. My concern is that it retains all the 'problems' of traditional file sharing programs by requiring a specific wallet application in order to be used. I'll leave my comparison at that as it would be easy to misconstrue my statements as trash talking potential competition. I feel there is room for both projects and feel that we are attempting to accomplish very different goals.
