Order arrived safely, I hope.  USPS crushed the box pretty good, no obvious damage except for a few bent fan header pins.

Waiting on cooling parts to arrive, and the wife's permission to ditch yardwork for a few hours.   Cheesy

Crap? Really.. I always hated usps, I know its cheaper than fedx but seems like they always seem to break boxes.. let us know..

I should be getting mine tomorrow.
Is the die temp tool available yet? How about recommended initial cgminer settings?

I bought 1 Cool Master Nepton 280 and 1 Cool Master Glacer 240 to compare, and I'll post my findings with stock fans. Cooler Master claims 4.1mmH2O static pressure, much better than the Corsair stock fans.

Ill try to get a write up done tomorrow on the blog but in short here is what I usually start with, oh and make sure to use fan connector 4 for now.

cgminer --hfa-fan 100 --hfa-temp-target 0 --hfa-temp-overheat 110 --hfa-fail-drop 0 --hfa-hash-clock <number>

I usually start at 500 to adjust the cooling head with our tool I hope to release in the next day or so, then once I have the right amount of  pressure on each corner I crank it up to 850-900 depending on how well your cooling system is.

cheers!

right.. seeing as I can't find the current rating for the Corsair pumps. I'm going to assume the following combinations will be right to run off the board:
  • Corsair H80i   + 1 x Sunon 150CFM 1A Fan
  • Corsair H100i + 2 x Sanyo 102CFM 0.5A Fan
About to hit check out on fans and pumps but my Habanero status is still processing...

What's the eta Mr Teal and Gateway? How long till the boards and chips are shipped? ie. When will all of batch 1 be shipped?

Cheers,
QG

Batch 1 is going out this week as fast as we can get them done and hopefully batch 1 will be all shipped by the end of the week.

As for fans, at my home testing station Im using a OEM H80i with a San Ace 120 12v fan and a 850 Watt Seasonic PSU.

The default fans on any of the commercial coolers you can get just don't do the job IF you plan on really pushing the board to its max, and also prob not good to have a single radiator.

Here is a quick screen shot of running at 300Mhz, and if you look at the right side you can see Asic2 (green) when I turned the screw a bit on that part of the cooling head that the temp dropped down.

Just an example of what I was talking about above

Just received a ship notification (for tomorrow) for my first card.  Second order still processing.

Good job on turning these around, can't wait to get them going.

Anyone who ordered more than one board or did more than one order in our system, we will be grouping the boards into one box and sending them out.
126  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Habanero Project - Third Party HF Mining Board on: May 27, 2014, 05:55:02 AM
Few things since we have been quite busy this last week.

Orders will be going out this week to customers, you should receive a shipping tracking number when your order is processed and we are doing our best to get them all in boxes and out the door this week Smiley

So I have been personally testing boards with a h80i clone, basically I took the ones out of a sierra and used that, but its more than just a clone since it has a san ace 120 12v super spicy fan on it that really blows though a lot of air the radiator.  I dont think the stock fans on the H products are enough esp if you want to push these boards.

I have probably put on and tested several boards now this cooler and my plan of attack is to get the cooling head on to where you start to feel tension in the screws, then start up cgminer at a 300Mhz rate and fire up the Pepper tool which reads cgminers api and displays a visual graph of the 4 die temps.  I try to align them as close as possible together by tightening the section of the die thats hot and seeing if I can visually see the temp go down.  Once I have them close to all the same temp, then I restart cgminer at 550, try again, then up to what ever speed im shooting for.  Note, I hope to release this tool this week, its still in its early phases but for this functionality it works pretty well and I hope to have some time in the next day or so to write up a blog post on it.

Hey guys, been a busy week for us, both Mr. Teal and I where at the assembly house and are just recovering.. but I did a small post on the site with some pics! cheers

I have a 110 the mounting bracket is kinda cheap and bends, but well anything you will be placing on the board when mounting the cooling head you will see the ends bend as you tighten it down to get proper cooling for each die.  One thing I have learned is the stock fans that come with these coolers do not push enough air though the coolers to keep the chip cool.  I'm hoping to do a bit of a write up about this today or tomorrow (monday), I'm also sure Mr. Teal will add some comments based upon his engineering background.

BTW after a board count (boards+chips) we have some extras for sale for batch 1 if you still want in.

Cheers..

Is it too late to get into batch 1?

We can squeak you in if you can get your order in by tonight.

HF has also updated their blog post to clarify our relationship with them and that its purely a licensee instead of a partner which can be misconstrued as something completely different.

Anyhow back to normal, look for some more pics and maybe a video this week of the Habanero.  I also have my 2nd board which Ill be spending time profiling to see how far I can push it before I see black smoke Smiley

What temp does the Habenero thermal protection kick in?  Wondering about environment temps compared to operating/shutdown temps.

The h80 is a great cooler, it keeps my 3770k running 4.4GHz at under 80C on BurnTest with silent fans.

I'm wondering if an h100 or custom loop is the way to go for "spicier" environment temps?

We have various coolers from the single radiator the dual size, the important factor is being able to push enough airflow though the radiator to keep them cool esp when you start clocking them past 850Mhz range.  What I replace the H80i fan with something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/111103811212?lpid=82 , cant recall the exact one but this can push enough air though the radiator to blow dry your hair.

The firmware has a thermal shutdown set to 105c.

One of the main things is to make sure you have proper pressure on the cooling head and that each of the 4 dies are running as cool as they can.  We will have a little tool you can use to visually see the temps of each die and then you can slowly screw down that area a bit more to make sure the cooling head making enough contact with the die.

Of course the higher ambient temp where you have these the more your trying to cool the whole board in general.  I have exp with this situation with a few evo boards we have as well, and well if you really want to push these, u gotta keep em cool Smiley

is there any plans on bulk pricing discounts? How many units min. would that be?
There might be some bulk pricing, but the levels are still something that haven't been determined. Shoot us an email and we can discuss it.

email address? feel free to pm.

i tired your contact form on your site but i can't see the captcha (Firefox29.0, Unbutu12.10). Tired to emails 'sales' but it bounced.

Got you sorted over IRC.. cheers

We will be working on profiling the board over the next few days seeing what coolers and psu's work and well the best part seeing what we can push this to.  As soon as Teal gets me one of the prototype boards I can start to post progress on this!

We are very excited to finally have it hashing and well everything is looking damn good so far Smiley Stay tuned and if you want to be notified when he store opens up I would head on over to our site and sign up for the newsletter, also if your planning on doing bulk orders it would be good to contact us via our form on the site as well so we can start to lay out plans on how to fulfill all orders. http://peppermining.com
