Those two set of cables are already with PSU cable set. I need a separate one for 5th and 6th GPU.

Do you mean using the cpu power output in 8pin ? it will not work the pins aren't the same as the PCI-E one.

No. CPU cable is different and marked as CPU on the cable.

Hi,

I need to know one thing:

I have Corsair HX1200i. Can I use 8-pin (Type3) ---> 6+2 pin (PCIe) [2 outlets] cable to power the riser? My riser is VER007 6-pin.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Hi is there any issue in this setup?

Not the setup, the issue is your absolute lack of knowledge. GPU based mining is not for people who aren't already familiar with PC hardware. It's best done by people who have built PC's in the past.
No one can help you with the questions that you have because they are VERY basic.
This also means you will not be able to handle the massively more complicated stuff about mining that you will have to tackle in the future once you have the system assembled.
So, I advice you to sell your hardware and buy an Antminer or buy coins and trade. Its more profitable anyways.

Hi deadsix,

Its basically you who created the confusion. As per your comments above, you stated:
That PSU has 4 PCIe cables that have 2 x 6+2 ends, for a total of 8 connectors. Plug in any the 6+2 connectors into the 8 pin slot on the GPU, leave the 6pin slot empty, Rx580's can work without it. So you can connect two GPUs on one cable effectively.

I was clear in my mind based on your proposition but some other member objected connecting two GPUs on a single cable.

So please don't put a whole blame on me and if you can advise positively then you are most welcome and I would be looking forward.

Rizwan
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can you please verify this setup? on: December 10, 2017, 06:57:07 PM
I would not power two eight pin connectors from one 8-pin PSU cable. Each 8-pin is rated for 150 W, running two off one cable can overload the cable and the PSU connector. I do run a 8-pin (150 W) and 6-pin (75 W) to the same card off of one 8-pin PSU cable. You can also run two 6-pin risers off of one cable.

Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 will get 30-31 MH/s on ETH + 820-870 MH/s on DCR at ~180 W dual mining compared to the Nitro+ RX 570 4 GB that will get 28.5-29.5 on ETH + 720-750 MH/s DCR at ~140 W dual mining.

Hi Vann,

Thanks. Its getting bit confusing because someone suggested that I can use a single cable to join two RX 580/8GB GPUs and you advised not to.

Can you please let me how you can do that on HX1200i:
I do run a 8-pin (150 W) and 6-pin (75 W) to the same card off of one 8-pin PSU cable.

Note: I have 8+6 pins on GPU.

As per the diagram, I am already doing this:
You can also run two 6-pin risers off of one cable.

hmmm, from the picture id say A, what is that around the B hole? Tin? Is it leading somewhere on the other side? But you specify that there is only 2 A holes, thats way to little. No you should not have to insulate the screws. Thats why im asking about the B hole.

I saw from the back; they are leading to nowhere. Those holes are isolated.
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Which holes are for mounting the H81 on: December 10, 2017, 06:45:24 AM
Hi,

Please let me know what holes are used for mounting the motherboard (this is AsRock H81 PRO BTC R2.0) on the horizontal wooden plank.

The number of:
> A holes are 2
> B holes are 7

Do I need to insulate the screws if putting in either of these holes.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Hi,

Couple of confirmations and questions regarding connecting the hardware. My infra is:

> AsRock H81 PRO BTC R2.0
> Corsair HX1200i
> SAPPHIRE NITRO+ RADEON RX 580 8 GB
> Riser version 007
> Samsung SSD

Note: Currently I have two GPUs so will install two GPUs to the rig and will increase the GPUs after some time.

1) Do I need to install the 4-pin PCIE_PWR1 PCIe Power Connectors to the motherboard? (I have two 4-pin PCIe power connectors on the motherboard). Note: I will be be using powered risers.

2) On GPU there is 8-pin + 6-pin power connector. I don't know which cable would be used from the set of cables provided with the PSU.. Can you please identify the cables from the set.

3) I have 6-pin power connector on the riser. I read in many places that SATA cable that has been provided with the riser should not be used and instead the power to the riser should be provided from PSU. Please let me know if riser is powered from the 6-pin of the PSU? Can you please identify the cables from the set.

4) Where should I connect the LCD? (a) Directly from the port on the motherboard. or (b) Would be connected to the DVI port provided on the GPU. In case of (b) GPU1, GPU2, or any?

5) The SSD power would be from the PSU SATA cable and the SSD data would be from the motherboard to the SSD through the SATA data cable. Please conform this.

Here is the cable set provided with the PSU:

Looking forward for a clear-cut response and thanking you in anticipation. Would be a really great help to me!  Smiley

Do not use the adapters that come with the risers, you need to connect directly to the PCIe 6+2 cables for the risers as well, since you bought PCIe powered risers. You can connect two risers on one cable effectively.

You can connect the Monitor to either the motherboard or the GPU, either of them works. But for the H81 chipset motherboards, its recommended to disable the onboard display, or you it will not allow you underclock the GPU's

You probably should not be mining if something as basic as connecting an SSD confuses you.

"You probably should not be mining if something as basic as connecting an SSD confuses you." hahaha yes indeed ! such questions are incredible for someone who's trying to mine... have yo ever set up a computer before ?

I don't understand your questions about the PSU cables, really : you just can't make any mistake ! Just plug all the cables correctly and it should work

You have no chance, normally, to destroy your computer parts, so don't be shy and try, it's gonna be ok Smiley

Hi Bouldou,

Thanks a lot for your feedback. Yeah SATA was simple, and theoretically I knew but its my very first time in hardware installation.

Thanks a lot!

What mobo are you using? Does it even have the “pcie_pwr” sockets the PSU Manual mentions?

My mobo doesnt and just has the 8pin EPS and 24pin connected.

I have AsRock H81 PRO BTC R2.0.

There are two slots of PCIE_PWR on the board.

Please find below the excerpts from the mobo manual:
139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Do I need to install the 4-connectors from PSU to motherboard? on: December 08, 2017, 06:16:23 PM
Hi,

I have Corsair HX1200i. Currently I want to connect two Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 580.

As per the PSU manual:
<start>
2.7 Installing the 4-pin Power Connectors
The two extra 4-pin power connectors on this motherboard offer more power for
your graphics cards. They provide stable voltages and greatly reduce the risks of
burning your motherboard or graphics cards.

When more than three graphics cards are installed, be sure to install the PSU’s
4-pin power cables to the 4-pin power connectors (PCIE_PWR) on your
motherboard; otherwise, the cards may be damaged.

Please MUST install TWO PSU’s 4-pin power cables to your MB’s TWO 4-pin
power connectors.
Plug one of the PSU's 4-pin power connector (1) to the 4-pin
power connector closer to the PCIe x16 slot (A PCIE_PWR1) .
Then plug another PSU's 4-pin power connector (2) to the other 4-pin power
connector (B PCIE_PWR2 ) .

If your PSU only provides ONE, then please MUST install it to the 4-pin power
connector (PCIE_PWR1) closer to the PCIe x16 slot.

Important: Make sure both the connected 4-pin and 24-pin power connectors are on the
same PSU; otherwise, the motherboard may be damaged.

<end>

Question No. 1: Do I need to install the 4-pin connectors from PSU to the motherboard?

I will use risers and understand that I have to power the GPUs directly from the PSU.

Question No. 2: Do I need to install the 4-pin connectors from PSU to the motherboard in case I increase the GPUs?

Looking forward for your response.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Regards,

Rizwan
