121  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Satoshi dice is broken? on: June 02, 2012, 11:55:22 AM
If your previous transactions don't exist anymore on the blockchain then it is not Satoshi dice's fault. Probably something like you sent a bet using some unconfirmed coins (maybe from a previous bet) and then they never got included in the blockchain as maybe some of the inputs were used somewhere else.

Account hacked..

I hope so..   Huh

it's an old thread from the start of 2011 so I guess it's a kind of a joke. Nothing serious.
123  Economy / Securities / Re: FeedZeBirds IPO May 24 - Update: Shares all sold on: May 25, 2012, 11:57:51 PM
I'm sorry my mistake the volume is there.

There was over 1000btc traded today, so at 0.08667 that buys the remaining IPO shares I guess. For some reason I was getting mixed up with the 22,500 shares and thinking the volume should be 22500 rather than the btc amount.

Anyway congratulations on a successful IPO and best of luck with feedzebirds.

124  Economy / Securities / Re: FeedZeBirds IPO May 24 - Update: Shares all sold on: May 25, 2012, 10:42:24 PM
maybe just takes time to update
125  Economy / Securities / Re: [ANN] FeedZeBirds IPO May 24 - Shares now open via GLBSE on: May 25, 2012, 10:32:18 PM
Thanks to a large purchase just now, we have officially sold all IPO shares!

This means we have raised the funds we need to put our development plan into action. As a matter of fact, it has already been started. Roger Ver of Memory Dealers has been kind enough to translate FeedZeBirds into Japanese for us, and the mobile site is more than half done. Time to get to work!

were they sold on the GLBSE platform or "off the books" as it were. don't see that volume on GLBSE
126  Economy / Securities / Re: [ANN] FeedZeBirds IPO May 24 - Selling 22,500 shares via GLBSE on: May 24, 2012, 08:54:21 PM
In a real stock market priority going to early bids is important, but on GLBSE people can simply outbid you by 1 satoshi and get priority. Bidding 1 satoshi higher on an order of 1000 shares stills costs you well under $0.01, so there's no real reason not to do it. The result is that the practical cost of sniping shares is zero.

I love that about pricing in Bitcoin. Granularity is important. If the purpose of the market is to find the right price, then how much more right is the price when it is accurate to a an extra 6 decimal places? Smiley

Saw this blog post today and thought it was interesting in relation to the discussion above on the minimum trade increments.

Maybe someone asked for this already. On the market page can you frees the column titles row so that it is still visible when you scroll down the page.

thanks
129  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin Casino Sites? on: May 01, 2012, 07:31:49 PM
Neither are knock offs.

The  https://strikesapphire.com/ site owner Josh coded all if it himself I believe. You can sign up and try for free without any deposit and play for play money or there are daily poker freerolls hourly from 7pm to 11pm GMT. Josh is usually around then in the chat if you have any queries.

I've never had any issues and it's been around for a long time and I've never heard of any issues. I trust the site completely.

Here is a forum post from Josh which has some more info https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=75883.msg844645#msg844645

As for SatoshiDICE, all the bets are visible on the blockchain and method used to determine win/lose is on the site and verifiable so I think you can trust it.
130  Economy / Marketplace / Re: CoinURL.com: shorten links and earn Bitcoins on: May 01, 2012, 06:55:28 PM
Anyway, as Blazr said, you should find a shorter domain Smiley
I am considering registering a domain in zone like .cc or .ly in the future.
BTW, is 10 chars domain really so long?

I guess one of the major use cases for these link shorteners is to share links on Twitter. So when you are restricted to 140 characters ever one counts.
131  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin Casino Sites? on: May 01, 2012, 06:36:20 PM
if you are not in the US I recommend strikesapphire.com

Also check out the gambling subforum. There is a good thread from mem - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=75883.0 on bitcoin gambling sites.
132  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: iPhone IOS Bitcoin wallet is here! (From Blockchain.info) on: April 12, 2012, 06:17:01 PM

does the app link in any way to the purchase bitcoins by sms that is on the blockchain.info site? That could be the part about facilitating trading of virtual currency.

No that button is shown only in Cydia. But the image is still bundled with the app, perhaps they think it might be activate later.

You could try removing that image from bundle and re-submit/appeal. I'm not familiar with the Apple app approval process but is there any way to get more specific feedback from the reviewer as to what exactly is objectionable and what exact changes are necessary to allow it in?

Anyway good luck. I agree that having the app in the official app store would be a big bonus and make it much easier to recommend to non-super geeks.
133  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: iPhone IOS Bitcoin wallet is here! (From Blockchain.info) on: April 11, 2012, 05:48:11 PM
This is the latest rejection (for the Korean app store only).

We found that your app contains content - or facilitates, enables, or encourages an activity - that is not legal in all the locations in which the app is available, which is not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines.

Specifically, the facilitation of trading of virtual currency is not appropriate for the App Store.

We encourage you to review your app concept and evaluate whether you can incorporate different content and features that are in compliance with the Guidelines.

If you wish to appeal your review, you can submit a request to the App Review Board. The App Review Board was created for developers to appeal an app review they have concerns with. Please be as specific as possible when explaining why you believe your app is in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines.

I tried to explain the app deals in bitcoins only and does not allow trading but I guess the definition of "encourages an activity" can be quite broad. They also declined the app for the same reason without send functionality.

134  Economy / Economics / Re: Any new methods for Debit/Credit card to BTC? on: April 10, 2012, 05:27:57 PM
I haven't tried it but depositing to www.switchpoker.com with a Debit/Credit card and withdrawing in bitcoin might work. It seems like there's a 20BTC minimum withdrawal though.

Has anyone tried this?

yep, they dont like it, but they let you do it. They will charge you a 5% cashout fee if you are a new player who has just cashed up, converted to bitcoins and cashed out.

I bought 13.59 btc this way myself, takes about 2 days to process.

5% is not too bad I guess for the ability to pay by credit card.
When you say they dont like it, how do you know this? did they something to you when you tried to cash out in bitcoin?
135  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ben Milne (Dwolla) and Jered Kenna (Tradehill) will be at "Future of Money" Conf on: March 31, 2012, 12:55:58 AM
Is anyone else from this forum attending?

Bitinstant is actually sponsoring the event as of last week, and I will be there speaking!

You should see my logo on that website within a few days (I just have to pay them Grin)

I see a Joel Katz too in the attendees list. Not sure if it's the same person who is active around here.

What price for a truly flexible online currency?

Just a brief reference to bitcoin -

As I’ve mentioned in previous columns, an underground economy swiftly emerged around BitCoins, which might be best described as the minimal viable model for an unregulated electronic currency.

You're very established if:
- You have 100+ hours of online time
- You have 100+ posts
- You registered 30+ days ago

There are ~950 very-established users right now.

Is this correct?
Is it a combination of the above criteria or is any one sufficient to be considered very established?

If only one of the above is needed then there must be >> ~950 very-established users right now.
If all of the criteria are required then I only see 3 users with 100+ hours of online time on the https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=stats page.
100 hours, not 100 days.

thanks.
yeah reading comprehension fail. Back to school with me.
