Just made my first ever XMR purchase - 5 minutes of XMR dev time for attack mitigation and security.

Thanks, devs!!

While I agree with you, you must admit that the trolls and hacks have created an environment of suspicion, and it is natural that the anonymous dev, for whom there is in fact a fair body of circumstantial evidence of participation in the original cryptonote implementation, should attract that suspicion.  I'm hoping that CZ will dispell some of the FUD around BBR.  If people frankly voice their concerns, they may be dispelled more promptly.  You help by rightly observing there is a lack of material evidence for this specific suspicion, but the factors which allow suspicion to fester in the background remain, and getting them aired out may disinfect.

Probably you both want more cheap BBR lol

No, actually, by freezing BBR you are going to get a bigger dump.

Exhibit 1 - cognitive dissonance

Hey, there is a serious flaw in cryptonote.
XMR has been the first targeted.
Is BBR ready for this ?

How do you know there is a flaw in cryptonote ? I just heard about a corrupted block in monero blockchain probably following an attack.
until somebody (CZ!) that understands the tx processing solves how this was done, anybody that says they know this is applicable to all cryptonotes including BBR is not telling you the truth. Now I think it is safe to say that all the non-BBR cryptonotes have this vulnerability as they cut and paste this part of the code, but CZ specifically modified the block format and that code is adjacent to this, so even without knowing it he could have easily found and fixed a flaw. Especially if it is some overflow bug.

so BBR is the only cryptonote with a chance to not be vulnerable to this flaw, but until we properly identify it, we can only guess.

James

Your fifth sentence refutes your first sentence.  Take it easy on yourself.  No one has time for self-argument.

I edited my post after Smooth replied.

Smooth did not delete my parenthetical.    "(Poloniex is the only exchange I pay attention to)."

I'm sure the same or similar "coins" are traded on other exchanges.

This is just what he admits too.  I would consider it to be much more.
11 mins ago   rpietila   Somebody wanted to know this so here you go - my xmr trading since it first hit 470 (about 1.5days ago)
10 mins ago   rpietila   has made 1.6 btc profit before fees

Remember having said that. Right after the others were asking if I really don't have better things to do than spending 1.5 days glued to the keyboard to earn about €500. I needed to defend myself saying that if I did not, the Monero liquidity would be much less than it is now, and proceeded by saying that 35% of the bids above the recent bottom were actually mine, because nobody else had had time to fill his.

I have also had 25% of the bids in BTC China, and there we were talking about 50x bigger money.

Monero to me is currently nothing that I plan to support me financially. I support Monero, with providing support to the devs, liquidity to the markets, marketing, even technology.

But the enemies are trembling - Monero is like a battle line where the largest battleships of Bitcoin are taking their place, loaded and constantly loading with more coins, ready to unleash the financial privacy upon everyone who might be interested.

kuriso, are you going to be the last holdout in the big XMR/BBR happy family?  And why are you using such a funny BCT name?
1208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: September 04, 2014, 04:21:27 AM

The "investment contract" interpretation has been used to prosecute all manner of "investment schemes."

The test is:

Quote

1. investment of money due to
2. an expectation of profits arising from
3. a common enterprise
4. which depends solely on the efforts of a promoter or third party

I don't really see how supernet could fail to satisfy that test.

To my untrained eye, there are a few more "coins" on poloniex (the only exchange I pay attention to) that satisfy the same test.
1209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SuperNET IPO - ICO conducted by Poloniex on: September 04, 2014, 01:26:06 AM
Not all things US Gov are bad, I like flushing my toilet and having my garbage picked up weekly.  Anyway, I think his point is be careful about using Poloniex for your IPO because the Gov can shut it down pretty easily.

Do you realize that you need the Government's permission to take a piss and you pay in order to get that permission. Let me break it down for you.

1. You can't just take a piss wherever you want, you have to do it in the toilet or else you'll be fined.
2. Toilet device manufacturing companies have to be licensed (by the govt) to produce "proper" toilet devices.
3. Contractors that install those devices have to be licensed (by the govt) and have to get installation permits (from the govt) to put the "proper" devices in place.
4a. In order to purchase a toilet device you've got to have the money (issued by the govt)
4b. And then you have to pay the tax (to the govt) on your income.
4c. And then again you have to play a sales tax (to the govt) on you purchase.
4whatever. And then the contractor has to pay income tax too... Charging you extra just to pay that tax.
5. You take a piss.
6. Huh
7. PROFIT!

Do you still like the idea?
can we not be doing the toilet talk?
it just seems wrong for it to be in this thread.
thanks

The Rulebook is growing.

It is unexplained why, even after accounting for the PoW time, Monero takes more time per block even though it has fewer transactions per block. This definitely requires further investigation. I expect we will have a better understanding of it over time as we work on removing bottlenecks.

I read elsewhere that BBR uses a block format that is revised form the original CN block format.  Can any of the time difference per block be attributed to this difference in block formatting?

I am honestly embarrased to say to another guy that I own Boolberries

What is SuperNET? "TLDR" please.

It is part vendetta.

Give Smooth a break.  He's had to deal with the Monero scam thread, and now he's got James in his face.  The little victories give him the confidence boost he needs.

1214  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 01, 2014, 02:31:23 AM
The "ber" months are here. Summer sales are over and fall sales begin. Xmas ads are around the corner. Bitcoin is on sale. They may be the hottest thing this holiday season.

We need an "All I want for Christmas is Bitcoin" meme.

And the other 70% of the world?

If you are violating of this rule, I cannot promise that your intellectual credibility wont obtain some tarnish.

Some rulebooks are better than others.

I'm too dumb for anarchy.

This is so sad. The level of brainwashing the government puts people through to get them to believe this nonsense is terrifying. I'm not going to get into debunking this here though, this is not the place for it. If you want make a thread and invite me to it.

Because a thread should be made, but OP's not going to do it.  Somebody else should do it.

Way back earlier this year, I was in the same situation of worrying about money and I was seriously considering getting a real job to pay the bills. Needless to say my productivity would have gone way down and, well I wouldnt be where I am today. When some of the big NXT whales found this out, they gave me a "job" basically to keep doing what I was and they took care of my basic living expenses.

This helped enormously and got me into a superproductive mode.

The other day in polo trollbox you said you made millions in 10 months after discovering crypto.

I must have misinterpreted what you said.
