Classic cargo cult now in bed with jl777, treating him like Jim Jones?  Amazing.

jl777 views Classic as a headless steamroller with an empty driver's seat he can fill - accruing all glory and power.

Techno-eunuchs in Classic (Peter R, HashFastDefendantDoc, many others) are hypmotized by jl777's tecnobabble, and are now forced to type with one hand while they rub themselves up a genie with the other.

Classic/jl777 or GOP/Trump - which is more entertaining/sad/doomed?

824  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 16, 2016, 01:42:26 PM
So does anyone ever talk about price movements in this thread anymore?

Seems to be getting closer but I just can't manage to touch it.

Monkey doesn't expect much movement, but says it should be mostly upward, what there is, barring some catalyst.  The current weekly uptrend should end pretty soon, then mostly sideways, maybe a small correction, before a stronger uptrend begins, lasting about 3 months.

Does monkey understand the concept of halving?  Can he differentiate one banana from two bananas?
825  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: March 13, 2016, 05:58:12 PM
So I decided to email Kraken with the same request.  Please add Monero to your exchange.  I'll probably get the same form mail back in my inbox.  But let the pressure on them build.

This is what they sent me:

We're following Monero. I doubt it gets added any time soon, but I know we're watching for new ones to add all the time. Thanks for the message.

Best,

Joseph
Kraken Client Engagement

Maybe they're not adding it because they're too dumb/lazy to deal with Payment IDs.  If that's the case, maybe it's good for XMR that Kraken isn't part of the ecosystem.

but devs have no power at all, if a group of devs don't produce the software that users and miners want to use, some other group of devs will...

This is a fantasy, unsupported by six years of history.

History gives us btcd, well developed, but completely ignored and irrelevant.

History gives us Mike Hearn, who is damaged, alone, and bitter.

History gives us Gavin Andreson, unsure of his own identity, not committed to Bitcoin, comfortable in his sofa of virtual coin.

History gives us XT, Classic, and Unlimited, "let's put on a show" high school science fair projects put together by Cypherdoc, Peter R, the Toomim brothers, and other pretenders/scammers.

That leaves the Core devs.  Cryptographers, C++ experience, professionals.  Not perfect, but responsible for everything that BTC lovers hold dear.

The idea that you can stop a car on the street and turn the occupants into developers of the next great cryptocurrency is an exercise in

denial
delusion
wishful thinking
fantasy

If you want a coin developed by a random group of computer hobbyists, choose among the 1000 alt coins.

If you want a virtual currency with an established network and infrastructure, choose bitcoin and the people who brought it to 1200, 420, and 6 billion dollars.

...nice technical stuff....

[I'm also somewhat surprised that you were unaware of this
; one of the patches "classic" was talking about patching out was the one restoring the batching... due to a transaction deanonymization service (or troll) claiming it interfered with their operations.]

Nice technical post, but why the drama at the end?
828  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: February 25, 2016, 02:12:35 AM
If you want to be a destroyer join monero. It's the perfect place for you.

I responded to this by quoting Robert Oppenheimer, but a mod (presumably mprep) deleted it.

For some reason, many of my 100% on-topic posts are being removed.

Is mprep is taking bribes, along with his relentless sig-whoring campaign?

Have you ever deleted a post, Cartman?
829  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CLAM] CLAMs, Proof-Of-Chain, Proof-Of-Working-Stake, a.k.a. "Clamcoin" on: February 25, 2016, 01:43:26 AM
So miners gather around $1200 in total in one day(according to current market value)? Is this correct?

There are no miners. It is a proof of stake coin.

Stakes are paid in CLAM, not dollars. Inflation due to staking will tend to devalue each CLAM, leaving staker holdings worth approximately a constant amount.

How is this coin still alive?

Inflation isn't evil when newly created coins are fairly distributed.

Although CLAM is a good coin, and one of the few Altcoins that have real value due to JD, I think we can all agree that we won't be using it in 20 years time!
I agree that inflation isn't a bad thing, in fact in some ways it alleviates the problem of the whale diggers, as they will be diluted out of their idle fortunes.

That being said, in the long term the inflation will be too high, resulting in a low value of CLAM, so people will be less inclined to use it.  I don't see that being a problem in the short term.

In 20 years PresiKing Trump will be starting his sixth term.  CLAM will be the official chip at all Trump casinos, including the ones in Iran, North Korea, Guantanimo, and Mars.

Secretary of the Treasury Dooglus will be on our side.

I advise hodling.
830  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Just-Dice.com : now with added CLAMs : Play or Invest on: February 21, 2016, 07:50:34 PM
Isn't 33% a huge inflation number?
Will staking be reduced at some point?

CLAM consensus rules are guided by CLAMour, the community petition system. If the majority want a change they'll likely get it.

The current rules specify a fixed 1 CLAM per block reward, so the inflation percentage is constantly reducing.

CLAMour has a long way to go to meet the high standards of intellectual discussion and decorum on display in the block size debate.  Anonymous unlimited comment on the internet - that's the way to gauge and reach consensus.

Won't be able to say we weren't warned.

9 months left to find a place to live.  I hear Costa Rica is nice.

Rest assured that Americans aren't stupid enough to elect any subpar candidate. Look at the competition and see... On second thought, tell us more about Costa Rica. Any butterflies down there?

You looking to open a butterfly lab?

concensus reached

The only thing that has concensus is that your avatar looks like Eric Cartman.

Delete this, sensorshit.

834  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: February 19, 2016, 07:01:39 PM
Butter who? Is anyone really still talking about them? They're gone, newbies don't need to be protected from them, if you haven't got your money back or a product by now you aren't going to and there's nothing left to care about. Why is there any activity in these BFL threads at all? This is comparable to bitching about people posting in dormant threads vinyl records or VHS tapes dying out. It's over, I should move on or seek out a "people posting in dormant threads" vinyl record support group. People should only post in threads I approve of.

FTFY

Though i think for a seller it would be smarter to do a public auction or something. There are enough people who would buy and most probably this person would receive way more than he would by dumping a big amount of clams on an exchange.

This is something I've never understood. Someone always does that -- dumping and losing 80-90% of their value in the process. You can exit most coins over a period of just a week or so by doing smaller sales.

The thing that happened with the digger was even worse. He pushed the price constantly, lowering his profits on the way even further by pushing others to go out.

On the other side, maybe selling such a huge amount of clams would have been too hard? Don't know if so big buyers are out there.

It's not hard. You just stagger the sales. With CLAM it's ridiculously easy due to volume. Basically, let's say you want to exit asap and the price is 0.001 BTC. You would list:

5% 0.001
5% 0.0099
5% 0.0098

and keep going down. Which does two things: 1) it creates a bit of a wall which usually pushes the price UP instead of down, and 2) minifies the damage done by a dump.

it may minify it, but it won't minimize it

Minify is the Ministry of Wi-Fi in Orwell's sequel to 1984, tentatively titled, "Fast and Furious Google - or Mike Hearn's Revenge".  Plot summary - Mike Hearn drives down the A1 from London to Cornwall on the wrong side of the road.  Stops to pick up lead singer from Spice Girls cover band.  Catches STD, fired by R3, goes to work for Blockstream as Greg Maxwell's pool boy - arrested in Halted for trying to shoplift Raspberry Pi - bailed out by cypherdoc using Hashfast preferred stock.

you remind me of child_harold of SDC, or whats he called.
always bashing other coins/projects :p

Contempt can be earned, and thus merited.   Destroying other people's substance, whether by incompetence, recklessness, or malice, is one way to earn contempt.

Contempt can also be given, unearned.  To avoid being misled one must exercise discernment between cases.

Earned contempt average is amount of contempt divided by innings pitched.

Contempt of court, on the other hand, is an NBA problem, not a MLB problem.

Destroying other people's substance, also known as liposuction, is a profitable enterprise.

838  Other / Off-topic / Re: How would you react if you just woke up from a coma? on: February 15, 2016, 02:25:35 AM
I would react the same way I react when I wake up from a nap, or leave a meeting at work, or get off the phone with my mom or Gavin Andreson

I would masturbate.

top acting.. pretends to be pennyless so if convicted the fine will be smaller..

pharma dog loses millions in BTC same day Scalia "dies".  Coincidence?  I think not.

Remember, it's an election year, and a halving year.

Trust no one, not even Justus Ranvier and his elite dog.
