1201  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I really want this watch but it's too much on: December 08, 2014, 02:02:02 AM
Could be a great investment. Buy one. Don't use it. Resell it in ten years for one hundred times the price.

Good idea, it's not too much for a watch like that 888 CHF makes $908. You can sell it at least 10 times more than this price in 5 years...

Do you really believe this?

Bitcoin is the Dream Theater or rush of its time.

Quality on-topic post.

Btw, OyO is right, I think BIz absolutely loves thus thread Smiley

If I loved this thread, I would not be advocating for its closure.

I do love it. I am just bluffing, I don't want it closed.

Fixed that for you.

Can you provide any evidence as to why its bad to invest in tools that allow exponential increases of freedom to exist?

Because there's a high chance that you'll lose money investing in bitcoin.
What i think you meant was, "Because there's a high chance that you'll lose money short term investing in bitcoin."
Since you're so short sited Ill revise what i wrote; "In the long-term, there is no risk in investing in freedom enabling tools."
'
Of course your gonna lose money in the short term.

You need to remember that when youre talking to someone that may be playing with the idea of investing in bitcoin they almost always mean longterm. If the person was trying to play the market short term they wouldnt be asking you the question.

These discussions are always long term

It is not a certainty.

so it's either a malware or you reused the password at somewhere where you shouldn't. shows how important to have a good anti-virus running 24/7 and enabling 2FA in every site that offers it.

Malware can evade antivirus though.

Maybe they're normal people, who live normal lives, without having to worry about the day-to-day happenings on a bitcoin forum.

You're spamming to prevent spamming? Give it up, seriously, it's annoying.

I'm not spamming.

Why do you feel the need to defend her? It's not like you'll ever have any chance with her or even get to meet her. This is exactly the reason why I suggest this thread be locked.

I'm not defending her, I'm being annoyed at your spam and now this thread is being bumped because you've decided you have to argue with me.

If you consider my posts spam, then what is this? (just citing it as an example, no offense intended to the poster Smiley)

A sexy photo of fabiola!  Wink

Surely you don't consider this a quality post to gauge the interest of bitcoins, advance gender equality in the cryptocurrency sphere etc etc do you? You're just picking on me because you don't want this thread (started by a girl!) to be closed.

LOL. I seriously doubt there is ONE quality post in this entire thread, but I make ONE post in here and you use mine as an example?

Also, I don't get why you desire this (or any) thread closed. If you don't like a thread, don't visit it. It's that simple. It looks to me as though YOU LOVE THIS thread, since you barely miss a chance to post here. If anything it's YOU who won't let it die, by keeping it alive with your posts.  Roll Eyes

Yeah, like I said, no offense intended. It was just the first post I saw that wasn't necessarily related to bitcoin.

I get it's a joke though, no worries man Smiley

Wet blanket Smiley chill, we're all just chatting, why does it bother you so much? I started the thread and it doesn't bother me if ppl go off topic, in fact most of the threads on here seem to go off topic sooner or later.

Okay, it's great you recognize the problem. You can easily fix it, you know.

Its not gambling when you're investing in freedom.

Dont ever forget, "Freedom is always a good bet."

Keep telling yourself that.
1215  Other / Meta / Re: Dank's final testimony on: December 08, 2014, 12:49:37 AM
drug addiction is in itself a disease

Taking drugs for the first time is a choice, not a disease. Even if its 'hard to get out', he still put himself 'in'.
That is true. However a large percentage of people (at least I think it is a large percentage) will try drugs experimentally. There are also some people who may have suffered some kind of trauma that would cause them to turn to drugs in order to cope with their physical and/or emotional pain.

I agree the drug user is somewhat to blame for their problems, but it is far from 100% their fault.

9.2% of the U.S. population according to http://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/drugfacts/nationwide-trends

23.9 million people is a lot when you think about it, even though it's only a small fraction of the population.
That report only refers to people who have used an illegal drug in the past month. I was referring to using some kind of illegal drug anytime in their life.

For example someone who experiments with a drug at only one point in their life could potentially become addicted, while someone could experiment some kind of illegal drug once in their life and then stop

Yeah you're right. I assume the % would be a lot higher then. I'd be interested in reading more about it.
1216  Other / Meta / Re: Lets talk about the altcoin section again on: December 08, 2014, 12:48:27 AM
I don't see much alt coin stuff spilling into other sections and when it does it's minor and handled pretty quickly. What I like about having the alt section is at least everything is kept (largely) quarantined in there. If we didn't have it people would still post alt coin stuff here. Whilst your suggestion could work I don't think it will happen and just seems like actually creating more hassle and work for the staff to be honest.

I agree. The staff do a great job of keeping bitcoin sections like the Marketplace clean.
1217  Other / Off-topic / Re: cryptocurrency addiction on: December 08, 2014, 12:45:21 AM
i don't think its negatively impacting my life, i just think i'm addicted to it...bitcoin would have to go to the low double digits for me to ever lose money but i still feel compelled to buy lots of it even at today's prices.

is that gambling?  Shocked

Investments can be considered gambling -- high-risk ones even more so.
1218  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do u guys need girly advice? : ) on: December 08, 2014, 12:44:40 AM
Sometimes girls can give smart advices, but only sometimes. Just ask her how to make good coffee, and I am 97% sure she will not know, even may be Fabiola  Grin

What's your definition of good coffee?

>inb4 starbucks

He's talking about those Italian metal coffee makers that go on top of a stove like.

How do you know?

I know too many coffee snobs haha

favorite coffee?

Cappuccino, yours?
Aren't we breaking the rules going off topic?

opinion discarded

straight espresso > all

He's not trolling, if little things bother you then that's your problem not ours Smiley Smiley

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet)

Quote
In Internet slang, a troll is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

That's exactly what he says he is intending to do.

This thread IS within an off-topic area hence your argument is invalid. #VOID. Smiley Smiley

No, I'm still right. What Lethn describes himself doing is trolling, by definition.

Dank was recently perma-banned, and many of his posts were in Off-Topic. Your opinion is the invalid one.
