I wasn't aware Bitcoin had an official motto?

I never said it did. This is just personal opinion.
1202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How easy it is to KILL bitcoin. on: August 28, 2014, 05:19:30 PM
8. McDonalds burgers are healthier than lettuce.

But McDonald's burgers have lettuce... does that mean McDonald's is healthier than McDonald's? That would be infinite health! Yay!
1203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In * we trust? on: August 28, 2014, 05:13:35 PM
Since bitcoin is based on cryptography. It won't be out out line to say:

In cryptography we trust.

While technically correct, my real issue is with mimicking the US dollar. There are more currencies in the world, why not at least imitate another one?
1204  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In * we trust? on: August 28, 2014, 05:12:00 PM
* unless P=NP

What would happen to Bitcoin if it's proven that P=NP? What kind of algorithm could it possibly use?
1205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why people price things in fiat but want BTC - choose one or the other on: August 28, 2014, 03:13:41 PM
Most people don't have a sense of value when things are priced in bitcoin. In order to show a shop is cheaper, they need to quote in fiat so consumers can compare prices without conversion.

I think most people who are involved in Bitcoin can tell the price difference between bitcoin and fiat?  I know I can it isn't that hard...
I check the price once a month. If the price changes everyday, then I'm almost always behind.
1206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / In * we trust? on: August 27, 2014, 01:55:46 PM
When people do these Bitcoin physical mockups, why do they always use some variation of the motto “In God We Trust” (e.g. “In Cryptocurrency We Trust”, “In Bitcoin We Trust”, “In Satoshi We Trust”, etc.)? Why don't people come up with something better? The motto is very specific to US currency, and as far as I know, the main ideology behind Bitcoin is to ditch fiat currency (which includes the US dollar). Also, the motto talks about faith in a deity, and I don't think we should blindly have faith in Bitcoin (we however, can trust it works by analyzing its source code).

On the other hand, there are other mottos I like, like “Vires in Numeris”, that had no reference to other currencies.
1207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: the Free market has failed Bitcoin needs a Central authority and Global ID. on: August 27, 2014, 01:12:20 PM

- this policy/protocol also ensures good community practice with the ability to block questionable transactions, i.e Terrorists pedophile transactions etc.

If you were here when the FBI coins were auctioned, then you would have read all the discussions that concluded that for a currency to be fungible, it can't be arbitrarily blocked (it's arbitrary because who will decide what's good and bad?).
1208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Symbol??? on: August 27, 2014, 12:50:40 PM
i think it should be BTC but slightly tilted like the orange logo we have all come to love hehe

why not? like make it with a slight tilt idk. bitcoin symbol can be a good thing to spread aroudn too. make sure you people print it off and leave it places Smiley
The tilted BTC may be good for a logo, but inside text, it should follow that text's style. It it's not tilted, then the symbol should not be.
1209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Symbol??? on: August 27, 2014, 11:21:42 AM
If you look at this site's CSS, you can see and download the font used for the BTC symbol.
1210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why people price things in fiat but want BTC - choose one or the other on: August 26, 2014, 12:40:14 AM
Here is one already existing solution to that.

http://pesobang.com/

I don't see how that website is a solution to that problem. All that website does is price their products in terms of bitcoin, but if the exchange rate moves then either the merchant or the buyer will end up getting a worse deal then they should because the exchange rate moved against their favor.

Somebody has to take the risk first. Eventually more people will start to price things in BTC, and that will help the exchange rate to stabilize (maybe, I'm no expert).
1211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why There Should Be A Bitcoin Central Bank on: August 25, 2014, 07:53:43 PM
I guess what happens if someone is able to hack all the accounts...?

I think it would sort of suck for someone to completely take over the Bitcoin network and have all the money with no way of reversing it...

At least banks now can reverse transactions so that can protect your money..

I don't think you really understand how Bitcoin works, you can't "hack" all the accounts.  You can take over the network with a 51% attack (see wiki for details) but that's not something that would have to be permanent.

One can, however, hack the server with all of the hypothetical bank's private keys, and then empty all of them. (Hasn't this happened already?)
1212  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Request] QR Code converter to text for Windows on: August 25, 2014, 06:23:12 PM
Which version of Windows are you using?

For Windows 8/RT, I use Easy QR (http://apps.microsoft.com/webpdp/app/44147093-66a9-4298-b109-dfe7b1470646)
1213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rest easy Bitcoin is a CIA NSA project - Gavin Bell gets a mention : D on: August 25, 2014, 04:36:07 AM
[...] You might as well make the first move and control the system rather than trying to fight it down the track.

It doesn't seem like CIA is controlling the Bitcoin system, does it?
1214  Other / MultiBit / Re: Safe to Close Wallet & Exit MB While Still Confirming Transaction? on: August 25, 2014, 03:30:46 AM
As far as I know, once the transaction is sent, it will eventually confirm even if you close the wallet. It's recommended to leave it open so that you verify everything is OK, but it makes no difference to the network.
1215  Other / MultiBit / Re: Multibit application on Mac only showing 2/7 wallets on: August 25, 2014, 03:27:39 AM
Try reopening the wallets. They should appear again.
1216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is an Altcoin on: August 25, 2014, 03:26:49 AM
Bitcoin is an altcoin to Peercoin and Peercoin is an altcoin to Bitcoin.

Do all of you understand what "alt" means? It stands for alternate.

So when shown some new technology in crypto I get annoyed when people go, oh it's just another alternate.

Bitcoin is also an alternate to other technologies.  I hate how all of you are acting like the current bitcoin protocol is the end all be all project in the crypto scene. Satoshi brought true innovation and all of you are acting like there can't be any more for some reason.

So please next time something innovative is made don't just go, oh that's just another altcoin. Actually use your heads and look at the technology for what it's worth.

This idiotic thought process that some of you posses is exactly why a lot of you and a lot of people didn't get in early on Bitcoin. Because when faced with something new your underdeveloped/underpowered brains don't know how to process everything and you immediately call scam or fail on what you can't understand.

HAHAHAH THANK YOU!! +1000
Thats how I feel every time someone calls Ethereum "SCAM COIN!!"

I don't understand how one thing is related to the other. Besides, we have already stated that the meaning OP is giving to “alternate” is not the real one (or the one everyone else agrees with).
1217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is an Altcoin on: August 23, 2014, 10:54:51 PM
Bitcoin is an alternative, but NOT to Peercoin. It's an alternative to fiat money. The word alternative means that it was thought as another solution to a current problem. When Bitcoin was created, Peercoin didn't even exist, so logically it can't be an alternative to that.
1218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as an Ideal Wins. Bitcoin as a Concept Fails. on: August 23, 2014, 09:01:46 PM
I ideal of a bitcoin that you can spend across the internet is a most beautiful concept.

Wow!  If you consider the ability to "spend across the internet" a beautiful concept then I encourage you to keep studying because you'll be blown away when you discover and understand the real ideals behind Bitcoin.

What are the real ideals behind Bitcoin?
1219  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which Bitcoin logo do you prefer? [I want your input for a study] on: August 23, 2014, 08:46:10 PM
seems people prefer ъ for 'bits' (ubtc/100 satoshis)
People haven't even agreed “bits” should be used for that.
